The Jezebel piece on criminalizing women who miscarry is one of the most chilling things that I’ve ever read — and it was actually intended to be helpful, I think.

  2. PixieButt says:

Agreed, I’m so horrified by what’s going on.
I’m grateful I’ve had a hysterectomy years ago but my heart breaks for younger women.

Man she likes to kiss and tell.

I had my daughter through IVF after 3 miscarriages and 2 years of infertility. I did a frozen transfer. I had 2 frozen embryos left. My husband and I made the decision recently that we would not have any more children. With my history of miscarriages and with what is going on in our country between women getting arrested for miscarrying and hospitals letting pregnant women die, I am too scared to try for another baby. By the time the evil orange grandpa is out, I’ll be too old.

    • IdlesAtCranky says:

@Sue — that is heartbreaking. I’m so deeply sorry this is our current reality.

If you two really do want another child, would you ever consider moving? If so, come to a coastal city in the West or the PNW. We don’t play that shit — we protect reproductive freedom here.

Was there ever doubt that Travis absolutely adores Tay?

I hope Kristin Cavallari writes a tell all one day. I am impressed with her body count.

I told my general practice DR, I wanted to go off birth control because I’m at the age where I should be going through menopause. He immediately said, let’s stay on that, we don’t want you getting pregnant, and get you an appointment with an OB/GYN. And went right to the next subject. No questions asked, no information gathered. I thought, that’s weird…wait…oh…we’re in a red state, surrounded by red states, yeah, accidental pregnant now is…yeah. So, is that supposed to be the answer now, even if not sexually active, stay on birth control until we drop dead? Because then we will finally be safe.

    • Juls says:

I recently went back ON birth control after 6 years of none. My husband had a vasectomy but I’m not risking it. I think I’m gonna ask for a tubal at my next appointment. Red state resident.

      • M says:

It’s not a bad idea to ask. I hope you have a doctor that will perform it for you.

      • Embee says:

It’s a heart (and wallet) breaking proposition. I asked for a tubal 11 years ago in my blue state and my GYN said she could do it but insurance wouldn’t cover it. So thousands of dollars to protect myself from an unwanted pregnancy (I was already a single mom to a 3 year old and was almost 40). We are repeatedly placed in impossible, punishing positions because we can have babies. It IS discrimination.

I never wanted children and had a tubal ligation in 1976 at the age of 21 – in TEXAS of all places. Doctor took me seriously, though he did require I consult with psychologist attached to his office. (no trauma in my life – I just didn’t want kids! No regrets) But that was it. The state of Texas even paid for it as part of their reproductive healthcare system!

I’d worked college internship at an abortion clinic in DC in 1975 and decided I didn’t want to ever have to make that decision. My mother was so proud of me for working there!

So – what I’m saying is that I was lucky enough to enter adulthood then and cannot believe we’re going back to pre-1973 times. Jesus.
