Thanks to Dlisted for the heads up on this crazy PETA ad starring Dave Navarro. I couldn’t believe my eyes, honestly. Because I used to love him. And now I don’t know what to feel about him. Part of me thinks this ad is hot, part of me, not so much. The “not so much” part is looking at his Batman tattoos. One Batman tattoo can be a drunken mistake – but one of each shoulder? Oh, honey. No. But I do like that he isn’t waxed into oblivion. I like his hair. All over.
Now, for some backstory – back in what youngsters refer to as “the olden days” there was a stellar, amazing, mind-blowing band called Jane’s Addiction, and they rocked my tween world. Guitarist Dave Navarro’s otherworldly beauty and penchant for dark eye makeup and moody complexity (in my tween mind) was a powerful aphrodisiac. It still kind of is, even though the guy has been married and divorced to Carmen Electra, and in interviews he sort of loses that moody complexity. Not that he’s a bad guy – he actually seems rather funny and intelligent.
Now tell me after watching this… is Navarro still hot?

Oh, YUM. Yes, still hot. The Batman tattoos are WTF but whatever….and thanks for pointing out his delicious body hair. I didn’t watch the vid but based on those pics (especially the last one with the smoke hanging out…)Seriously hot.
The only thing I don’t like is that he’s staring at the camera like he’s Criss Angel or however that a-hole spells his name.

No vote on the hot part, but dude has mad guitar skills. He did time with the Chili Peppers as well. He was freaking hilarious on the series Z-rock on IFC. For those who haven’t seen the series, it has great cameos, Dee Snider (the real one, not SJP), Dave Navarro, Joan Rivers, John Popper from Blues Traveler and others. Haven’t seen any new episodes this year so I hope it didn’t get shit canned. He’s playing a Paul Reed Smith Electric in that 2nd photo. Jealous.

I heard him say once that he will always keep the “ce” tattoo because she was an important and beautiful part of his life and he would never want to forget her or what they shared so why get rid of the tatt..I’m paraphrasing but you get the idea. I think he’s cool as hell and definitely lives on his own terms and yet seems to do it with respect and love for others.
I love the double batmans..adds balance and symmetry to the overall look.
He’s hot. Sexy, kinda dirty, been through some internal wars and gained wisdom and maturity brand of hot.

*sigh* Jane’s Addiction is one of the best bands of those times…I remember seeing them numerous times at 7th Street Entry and First Avenue in the late 80′s and early 90′s. Perry is much hotter though and mucho talented…

Jane’s Addiction still has regular rotation in my playlist, so Dave is always going to have a special place in my heart. That being said, when did he turn into the pint-sized version of Tommy Lee?

Dave looks good and I like the ad, except for the fact that it’s for the asshats at PETA. I’m not a fan of fur by any means (you couldn’t PAY me enough to wear it) but PETA is a bunch of freaks that go all ape-shit about their principles to the point where you can’t even take them seriously!
They have the best of intentions but go over-board with it to the point of just being obsessive and psychotic.

I saw Jane’s w/ NIN this summer (twice) & I have to say that Dave is still HOT! At least on stage w/ the batman’s covered up (but not by much). I was very disappointed at the 2nd show that he didn’t take off his shirt midway though. Such nice abs…
