Apparently, when I thought Mariah Carey looked like she was three sheets to the wind at the Independent Spirit Awards, she was really just pregnant. Allegedly. Mariah didn’t really announce that she is pregnant, she just told journalists that she has “something special” on the way. Jeez, can you just imagine the butterfly-clad, bedazzled, tutu-wearing stork that Mariah will demand? But I digress. Mariah could be pregnant. But it’s not definite. The “something special” could be a new Barbie dress. Or a dog. Or a butterfly. Or a piece of jewelry. Or a fart. God knows, Mariah probably announced her farts that way – “I have something special coming… wait… pull my finger!” Page Six has an epic recap of Mariah’s shenanigans at the Spirit awards… and yes, “shenanigans” means, in this case, “Mariah had to be carried everywhere”.
Mariah Carey was her usual fabulous diva self backstage at the Film Independent Spirit Awards — tottering around on skyscraper heels so high she couldn’t walk and having security prop her up all night.
The star, upstaging other actresses in a tight black dress showing off her famous curves, was celebrating her cast mates from “Precious,” which swept the board at Friday night’s awards at the LA Live arena — seen as a more relaxed precursor to the Oscars.
Carey — who famously once said, “I don’t do stairs” — had personal security to help her totter onstage. And she further fuelled baby rumors by telling Page Six that she had “something special” on the way.
A source said, “Mariah came out as a presenter but she was having trouble in her heels, which were eight inches high and so spiky, she accidentally stabbed herself in one foot before she was helped onstage.”
“She seemed to be the only star hanging onto personal security. Outside the press area she seemed really giddy and was overheard saying jokingly, ‘I don’t know if I can do this!’ And she didn’t arrive and leave through an elevator like the other stars. She had a BMW limo pull right up to the stage.”
Celebrating without husband Nick Cannon backstage, Carey did nothing to stop rumors that she’s pregnant or ready to adopt, telling us, “I have a lot of new acting projects coming up. I am talking to ['Precious' director Lee Daniels] about at least three movies. But there’s also something else very special on the way. I can’t say any more.”

Now, I wouldn’t hate it if Mariah was pregnant. She would probably be a better mother than most of us would expect. That being said, I doubt it. We’ve been on Mariah bump-watch for a while, and I really just think that Mariah is too focused on her career to start a family right at this moment. And she generally doesn’t play the “am I pregnant… wait for it!” game either. She usually pretty open about her priorities (butterflies > binkies). Methinks this was all just Mariah’s way of getting attention while her Precious costars got all of the awards. Bless her heart.
One thing I will say, though, in favor of the theory that she could be pregnant – her breasts look huge. They weren’t always this big. Pregnancy boobs?

She has no wrinkles whatsoever and she is 40. Like nothing at all, not even when she smiles. It doesn’t even look fake or plastic, just good. I wonder what she’s doing to look this young.

I would hope that if she was newly pregnant she wouldn’t be wearing sky-high heels and risk a fall. I’ve been there and done that with miscarriages more times than I want to remember. I wouldn’t even chance it.

She has that happy craziness about her but she is one of the most stable celebrity in the dating department.
She seems to enter exclusevily long term relationships and this last marriage though started weirdly seems to work for her.
I was always stunned by al the craziness surrounding her because as crazy as she was portrayed, she never was the one who did things like : smoking, drugs, boozing, string of lovers, ect. I also never heard her swearing and using straight up derogatory names and obscenities.
So good for her for keeping that sanity for the past 20 years eventhough she was the IT very young and could have slipped into the spirals of fame a la Whitney Houston, ect….She never really did crazy things like that, even after her divorce.

I hope she isnt pregnant if she keeps walking around in those damn heels though. One badly misplaced fall and it could mean serious complications for her and the baby.
“Something special coming” was probably referencing a new album she has in the works or a duet with some famous rapper that she is not allowed to talk about yet. Probably Kanye. He seems egotistical enough to tell people to shut the hell up about his work with them lol!

If she IS pregnant (and I hope for Nick and her that she is), I hope she has the good sense to stop wearing heels like those. It’s not good for the aching back she’ll develop very shortly, and the risk of a fall is very high, since her centre of gravity will be changing and her equilibrium will be off. Goodness knows she’s waited long enough to start a family; don’t put the baby (and herself) at risk for vanity’s sake. (I know, I know, it IS Mariah I’m talking about here.)

I really cant stand Mariah but she does have amazingly gorgeous skin. Not sure if its genetics, some PS upkeep, or what, but Ive always admired it. Thats about the only good thing i can say about her tho. i think she looks like a cow in those pics and i cant stand her ‘attention getting/I live in a fairy tale’ ways.
I think she was fueling the rumors to get attention since she didnt get any awards.

Mariah needs to tone down those short, revealing outfits. She is approaching 40 and looks beautiful as far as face and skin, but the boobs, ass and puffiness are not attractive. She needs to dress more tailored, and still be sexy. If she is pregnant, than that is wonderful. She better do it now, or the years will fly by and it will never happen, or the child could be sick.

@ Kaye: I have always thought the exact same thing about Mariah. She has no idea how to dress to flatter herself.
She always looks like she’s wearing outfits that are 5 sizes too small, and she can’t wait to get home, rip them off and put on some comfy sweats. She is in dire need of a stylist. If she has one, she needs to fire them and find a new one.
As for the baby issue, if she hasn’t had one by now, I doubt she’s going to. Perhaps adoption.

If Mariah is doing IVF she would be putting weight on from all the injections and pills. I don’t think she’s preggers right now but just either on IVF drugs that may in fact be leaving her system if she does plan to adopt. Anyway – HATE the dress but I do wish them the best of luck in getting their bundle of joy!

Who cares?I’m not against her being pregnant if she is, and not for it either.I wish her luck, I wish the child health and happiness.

She was blessed with an amazing voice, and has so much to offer the gospel music genre. But as a self-proclaimed Christian she needs to stop her diva demands as conditional parts of each performance. And she should cover up her “assets”; seeing 50% or more of them in photos has become so predictable! It’s like desperate competition with the rest of the pop idols, and she should rise above it by now. She has already made a name for herself!
