Has George Clooney already dumped Elisabetta Canalis?

This isn’t really a story. I just saw these cute photos of George Clooney in Hawaii, where he’s filming a movie, and I was struck by how much happier he looked since the last time we saw him. That’s right, his drunken, grumpy appearance at the Oscars, where he happened to be with his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis. Now, why does George look so happy in Hawaii one week later? Is it just because he’s in Hawaii, that lucky bastard? Or is it because there’s no sign of Elisabetta? Because I’m starting to wonder she got pushed away just as soon as Clooney finished campaigning for his second Oscar. I’ve been thinking for a few months that Canalis was on her way out, and I seriously can’t find any news about whether Canalis is in Hawaii with him – methinks he already sent her packing back to Italy.

Anyway, George is in Hawaii filming The Descendents with director Alexander Payne. It also stars Matthew Lillard, who I love and I always wish he got hired for more projects. He’s a really underrated character actor, and maybe working with Clooney will give him a career boost. I had forgotten that Clooney signed on for this movie, but apparently it’s been on schedule since last November. Here’s a basic rundown of the plot:

“The Descendants” focuses on Matthew King, a wealthy landowner with Hawaiian royalty in his blood. Life is far from perfect for Matthew — he has two irascible daughters in the form of ten-year-old Scottie and seventeen-year-old Alex, not to mention the fact that his high maintenance wife has slipped into an irreversible coma.

Making the impending death of Matthew’s wife even worse is the fact that her secret lover hasn’t been informed of the situation. Acting upon a sense of obligation, Matthew and his two daughters hit the road in search of the mystery man, perhaps the only man Matthew’s wife ever truly loved.

[From MTV]

I wonder if Lillard is the mystery lover? No, he can’t be, right? That would be such weird casting. But strange casting is kind of what Payne does so well, even though I don’t always care for his films. About Schmidt was probably one of the most overrated films of all time, in my opinion. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this project, especially if Canalis is really gone and Clooney is recruiting a new cocktail waitress/model-type who likes it kinky.

I like George. I loved Up In The Air.
I think he is a wonderful actor, I respect that he doesn’t want to get married. I think he is pretty cool.

But I HATE his taste in women. He doesn’t seem to date anyone where you would think, wow, this chick has it goin’ on.

I have heard the gay rumors about him, the bi rumors, the he-never-wants-to-get-married rumors, the kinky sex rumors. Dunno how many of those are true or just gossip.

I guess I wish George would find someone, male or female, that makes him genuinely happy. When was the last time you saw him with any chick where he looked truly happy?

  2. meme says:

Good. George has crap taste in women though.

  3. ogechi says:

Ok George, u know i love u but please marry this year. Its time to be serious. You will make a good papa.

  4. canadianchick says:

Though Hawaii would make anyone smile, he looks like Uncle Perv in that shirt.

  5. niamh (neev) says:

She’s out of the picture. With oscar campaigning over she’s useless. I hope George comes clean soon too, hooks up with a sweet man partner, and stops catering to the People readers.

  6. Icecat says:

    Good Riddance!!

She seemed like a smug Biotch!!

  7. nikki says:

her contract is finished:now he can party how he wants!

  8. Scout says:

I love George! Love his acting and his style. Loved Up In The Air, too, most recently. I have no idea as to his preferences, and I don’t care. That said, I have not liked any of his female choices – or what I could tell about them – of late. So, I am glad I do not have to look at this woman on his arm anymore!

  9. mslewis says:

Perhaps Ms. Canalis is back in Italy, WORKING!! Isn’t she some sort of TV person? Maybe she has obligations to meet and will be back with George aftewards. She wasn’t one of his cocktail waitresses.

P.S.: That movie sounds pretty awful. I mean, a road trip, in Hawaii?? What road are they planning to take? Depending on the island, you can pretty much WALK to most places. Whatever!!!

  10. Ursula says:

I hope what happened to Simon Cowell, Johnny Depp, Seal and Pierce Brosnan happens to him. He has his problems but basically he seems like a nice guy. I find his taste in women rather cynical. Like he accepted he will never fall in love so he just chooses any woman when he thinks PR demands it then drop her. He seems the kind into hookers and the sort. Hopefully her finds someone and falls in love before it is too late.

  11. Scout says:

Ms Canalis is an Italian model as far as I know. She is NOT one of his cocktail waitresses but she always travelled with him so far. I was surprised he was with her – she breaks the mold so I thought maybe this could be it! But, now I truly think they are splitsville.

  12. charlene says:

Excuse me everybody reading this?? Who
is George Clooney to dump here? I read here that George clooney has dumped Elisabetta… excuse me… Elisabetta has a niche of her own…she does not need George Clooney. She is famous in her own rights in her homeland Italy.

  13. meme says:

oh puhleeze, outside of italy nobody knew who elisabetta was or cared. and she didn’t get a major modeling campaign (Cavalli) on her own either.

  14. Kitten says:

Nice to see a smile on his mug . He was looking awful . If they broke up someone would release a statement . Someone will photograph her on the beach lubed up with olive oil . She seems creepy . Hope he did dump her . Doubt it .

  15. i have heard so often that he is gay – and i could almost believe it. it’s just that in this day and age – could he really keep that a secret, really? some fling would be taping and selling something. wouldn’t they?

  16. Kevin says:

I have to agree on Matt Lillard. He is a great addition to just about any cast. His character in The Curve was awesome. He was also good in Scooby Scrotum,,I mean Doo.
As for Georgie boy,,,he is studliness personified. Checks em in, checks em out. His taste in women is A-ok as far as this male is concerned.

  17. Wow says:

Didn’t she get cast in some tv series that films in Oregon or somewhere? She has her own projects so she & George are not always going to be joined at the hip. I have a strong feeling they are still together and I hope they are. She doesn’t bug me. And Clooney is boring without a gal.

  18. Ana says:

    Yay for Matthew Lillard!!!

  19. archiepelago says:

Kaiser, you know that ‘grumpy George’ was just an act, part of the fun created by Alec and Steve. On the red carpet, he was running up and down shaking hands and signing autographs with fans and was his usual smiling, charming self. Elisabetta and him have always seemed odd together but to out him with Lillard, come on!

  20. fret says:

    He is so G@Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. GatsbyGal says:

I never liked her at all, glad George finally saw the light. He does look so much happier, good for him.

I don’t think he’s ever going to get married, and I think he’s just fine with that. I’d love to see him with a woman who’s his equal, though – spunky and independant and goofy, but still mature and elegant. I hope he finds that woman someday.

  22. Sakota says:

” don’t think he’s ever going to get married, and I think he’s just fine with that. I’d love to see him with a woman who’s his equal, though – spunky and independant and goofy, but still mature and elegant. I hope he finds that woman someday”

Would such a woman want him? Everyone goes on and on on how he deserves better, but does he really? Outside of Hollywood he isn’t a catch.

  23. Camille says:

    Can’t stand him.
His hair looks like it has been cut and wasn’t there a rumour that Canalis wanted him to have it long? (as @ the Oscars). If that was true then quite likely her contract with him has come to an end. Ha ha.

  24. cara says:

am I wrong or what? Doesn’t he always have a woman on his arms when he is promoting a movie?
I think him and Simon would make a great couple

  25. poppy says:

Elisabetta has been cast in 5 episodes of ‘Leverage’ as a spy, just a bit part I think she isn’t much of an actress, so I wonder how she got the part over real actresses who have worked their rears off to land something like that, any guesses?

A good excuse for George to be away from his contracted awards arm candy.Hard to break up when you were never really together they have spent maybe two weekends together in over two months, she has been in Italy, he everywhere but Italy.

Give it a few weeks and the story will break that they are too busy with their careers to keep the relationship going.

  26. GatsbyGal says:

@Sakota: “Outside of Hollywood he isn’t a catch.”

Speak for yourself. I think he’s a silver fox, and he’d be a silver fox even if he wasn’t an actor.

  27. Well, when he was done with the Vegas one, he bought her a “modelling career”. This one gets an “acting career”. Wonder what the Leverage co-stars think of her getting the gig through sexual favors instead of working for it that same way that they did.
So 5 weeks minimum in Portland for her, George in Hawaii for 2 1/2 months – so the split angle will be “time away through work commitments they couldn’t maintain the relationship. No-one at fault, they wish each other the best” leaked by a “friend” or “source close to the couple”.

  28. Eden says:

I don’t get a hetero vibe from him..I just saw “up in the air” and there was nothing between him and the woman IMO. Friendly yes, but not smoldering or passionate or even sexual.
It seemed flat, always kind of does with him.
That said, I don’t get a gay vibe from him either..just nothing. He’s an attractive guy for sure but whatever he’s got going on sexually he seems to neutralize it in his public life, including his acting.
Maybe he’s trying to hide his hetero-freakiness..but it does seem to me that something is being suppressed.

  29. Lorenzo Bello says:

Elisabruta is milking him up to the core .
She will not let him go, she needs him to make money . And she so loves the money and the attention .
Go on working for her, George Clooney !
You are doing good job as clown and sugardaddy of ugly old soccer groupie .

  30. Lucia says:

Elisabetta Canalis isn’t really a classy girl, especially after I saw her in a video of 2 years ago burping the alphabet on the radio…there is better looking girls and George can afford whathever he wants.

  31. marco says:

  33. Amber J. says:

I like Clooney and his movies too, but he does look like he wants to kill himself with every woman he is with. Do women depress him? Maybe he should just swear off sex for a year and find out what makes him happy. Even in his movies he looks haunted and freaked out. And lately his movies all seem to be about various versions of himself, depressed and freaked out. It’s kind of funny, so maybe he’s going for the comedy, but he’s getting a little old for this. At some point it becomes sad. He’s turning into Lindsay Lohan.

  34. wonda says:

If your elizzybetta fish ca/anal/las said that she would stab a romantic rival with her stiletto, that is very scary since she can’t make someone love her would that be you and is that her way to keep her hands in ‘your wallet and in your pocket’ is she really a keeper or a betta to ‘throw back’ for another’s ‘catch’????????

  35. friendofclooney@hotmail.com says:

It is now September 2010 and I think it is about time that George Clooney clean house once and for all. He needs to end the PR nightmare he has created for himself with Elisabetta Canalis. His alliance with her has now put him in a very unfavorable light, which will prove to be detrimental to his career in the long run, should this charade continue much longer. This woman, I have come to learn, will be very major problem for him and his personal life if he should ever try to end it…contract or no contract…..what a mess, George….what a fabulous mess!!!!
Good luck and may God be with you….

  36. friendofclooney@hotmail.com says:

I feel really bad for George. He will have hell on his hands to deal with, if and when he does try to end it with elisabetta. She will air all of his dirty laundry, contract or no contract and she will be reckless with your personal intimate life. She will drag you through the mud, to the point that you will get so down on yourself, that you will be humbled in a way you have never been before. But have faith, an angel will come into your life at the right time and rescue you from yourself and silly choices in women…contact or no contract….it is important to be yourself and be real…..the fans will appreciate you more….make the next one a real woman, preferably respectable and sweet….looks aren’t everything….good looking, brains, a heart, loving, kind, humble, and integrity….look for that in the next…might surprise you…how happy you could truly be without faking it all the time……Grow up George, grow up….we care about you!!!!

  37. Julia says:

Oh George – come and have a nice cup of tea with me! Your eyes look so sad. x
