Donald Trump traveled to Japan this week, and he’ll travel to South Korea on Wednesday. It’s not even about “an idiot abroad” anymore, this is something altogether worse. It’s Dementia Don Abroad, where he’s so senile and out-of-it, he brags about acing his dementia tests and lets it slip that his doctors were so concerned about *something* that they made him undergo an MRI test.
President Trump said that he underwent magnetic resonance imaging earlier this month, telling reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday that the results had been “perfect” but declining to say why his doctors had ordered the scan.
Mr. Trump also reiterated that he was interested in serving a third term, saying that he “would love to do it” because of his popularity with his supporters. Mr. Trump, who spoke to journalists for about 30 minutes on a flight to Tokyo from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during his almost weeklong trip to Asia, seemed intent on presenting himself as fit to lead, if not run for the presidency again.
The Constitution sets a two-term limit for presidents, but Mr. Trump and his supporters have increasingly floated the possibility of finding a way to circumvent the 22nd Amendment, which states that “no person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice,” regardless of whether the terms are consecutive.
In discussing his health, Mr. Trump offered a small new detail about the tests that the White House physician, Dr. Sean P. Barbabella, said the president had received during a recent visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
“I gave you the full results,” Mr. Trump said, mischaracterizing the summary that was released by his physician. The summary did not say that Mr. Trump had an M.R.I. scan and had few details on what testing the president had undergone. When asked why he had undergone an M.R.I., the president said, “you could ask the doctors.” Magnetic resonance imaging, a noninvasive technology that creates detailed images of the inside of the body, is often used for disease detection and monitoring, or to detect bone or joint abnormalities.
At least one imaging professional mentioned that they use MRIs “to monitor the progression of Alzheimer’s.” While that could absolutely be the case here, I keep thinking about his come-and-go droopyface and the rumors going around quite heavily during Labor Day weekend that Trump had a stroke. MRIs are also used to diagnose and monitor strokes, I’m just saying. It’s also pretty bad that Trump keeps bragging about passing his cognitive tests – and I don’t even believe he’s actually passing those – and acting like those are IQ tests. I’m also including some videos of Trump staggering around Japan – he has no idea what he’s doing or where he’s going.
Trump: "They have Jasmine Crockett — a low IQ person. AOC is low IQ. Have her pass the exams I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed. They're cognitive tests. Let AOC go against Trump. Let Jasmine go against Trump. The first couple questions are easy — a tiger, an elephant,… pic.twitter.com/H8Lo3vCj7a

He’s on a congestive decline after what I believe was a small stroke. They pumping him full of drugs so keep he propped up long enough to push through Project 2026.
It’s up to the people to help tear it down and rebuild.
Oh, he’s on his way out, which is not a reason to not fight because this doddering old dotard is just the symptom; the GOP is the disease.
But remember that back in 2020 he SELF REPORTED to the media that he had mini strokes? It’s not like he changed anything about his diet or lifestyle, so mini strokes, plus five years, plus that obvious pretty big stroke. Modern medicine can throw a lot of tools and medicine at health problems, but at the end of the day he’s still mortal.
So we need to talk, as you do, of the evil people in the GOP at large.
There’s a Project 2026?!?!?!?!?!? They’ve so thoroughly destroyed our government & all of us along with it with Project 2025; I cannot imagine worse!! (Actually, I can, I’m a student of history.)
I think these people are really looking after their interests in the long game. If Vance is promoted via Ammendment no. 25, before the midterms in 12 months, he can only stand for election subsequently once. If it’s after the midterms in 2026, he can stand another two times. So that would yield 10 years, if he won both.
THIS.
They’ll prop him up until he lasts the magic number of days for Vance to get almost 2 1/2 terms.
22nd amendment:
“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.”
Omg the parody Gavin Newsom post! I’m sorry I know this is a serious matter but I can’t stop laughing at it.
” Your ball-room area…”
The “reporters” (in quotation marks because they are mostly hand selected propagandists atp) covering him need to stop entertaining the idea that he could run for a third term if he just finds a loophole. There is no loophole. He cannot run again. And considering the shape he is in now–that video with the Japanese PM is wild–who actually believes he will be in any condition to do so if he’s even still alive? How long can they keep doing Weekend At Bernie’s with this freak?
Trump will do whatever he wants. And so will his cronies. They don’t care if they can or can’t. They’ll just do it.
The fact that they just do what they want does not require the rest of us acting like we will just go along. These sorts of questions normalize the lawlessness.
Worst advice ever from his last term was to take him seriously but not literally. I think we’ve all learned to do both by now.
And while it is entirely against the Constitution to run a third term, it’s naïve for Americans to not anticipate another January 6th or similar event. Many of us who predicted that he’d refuse to leave office last time were called hysterical, hyperbolic etc and welp…
He recently posted that state election offices are “agents” of the Federal government and that HE–the King–is the embodiment of the Fed. So yes, he will absolutely try everything from voter intimidation to refusing to certify election results to suppressing the vote by eradicating mail-in ballots to tampering with voting machines—– and everything in-between. He’s been busy turning the US military and ICE into his own private army for reasons beyond just tormenting immigrants and blue cities. He’s eyeing every upcoming election that threatens the power he’s worked so hard to concentrate in the Executive and preparing accordingly. Americans need to prepare accordingly as well because this guy has no intention of leaving office.
I’m usually a fairly worst case scenario person – I’ve been saying that the GOP is essentially evil since about the late 1990s when I was a teen and boy howdy did people not like that – but I really, really had the naïveté that Biden would have learned his lesson that the GOP does not and will not ever play fair. Trump and the orchestrators of the attempted coup should have been arrested immediately on January 21, no Merrick Garland dicking around. His judges should have been recalled.
On some level I appreciate that the Democratic Party keeps assuming the best of their fascist colleagues – I think it’s human nature not to see that in people you know, you know? – but on the other hand, throw the effing axe. And I don’t think it’s just that they’re corporatist, I think they’re like people in a plane crash. Did you know that most people survive the initial impact and that there are more or less physically mobile people who just freeze, whose brains go “this isn’t real, this can’t be happening” and they stay in the plane and burn or whatever. That’s the Democrats, to me. In general they don’t want to be silly and overreact. But it’s not overreacting now.
Aside from the corporate money and interests backing the party, the problem with the Dems is IMO twofold: 1) the entire party is anchored by a compulsive need to adhere to norms and uphold institutions and 2) their reputation is that of the party that follows the rules because that’s what their voting base supports. They have never had the luxury of taking a “burn it all down” approach like the GOP and their QAnon base.
In that sense, it’s a shitty position for them to be in. I’m sympathetic to the notion that if the only sane party left takes a wrecking ball to the precedence and institutional norms that have always been a reliable touchstone within the three branches of government then we’re left with two parties that are no longer governed by the systems and constraints our forefathers erected.
On the other hand, I just don’t see any way out of this at this stage except exploiting every single loophole available to them, precedence be damned. The forefathers did what they could to protect us, anticipating that a nightmare like Trump would be presiding. We are now learning how tenuous and fragile those safeguards are in the hands of tyrant. I truly believe there are things they could be doing EVEN though they lack any real power. But it requires being bold, unafraid, and unapologetic. I’m just not convinced that party leadership is built like that, unfortunately.
But this was why I voted for Elizabeth Warren in the primary. She had detailed plans to achieve a progressive agenda even *without* GOP support, starting with abolishing the filibuster. We need mavericks in the party to step up and lead because Schumer and Jeffries are plagued with analysis paralysis. Less worrying, thinking and messaging and more DOING, please.
@Kitten
I was a Warren primary voter too! Not that the hateful right wing media would ever cover her ideas, but she really seems like the most capable one to me. She and AOC are the reason I stay in the party and I wish they could politely lock Schumer and Jeffries into a closet somewhere and move forward. The Democrats don’t have a lot of power right now, but what they do have they’re generally not using.
And agreed we are in deeply uncharted waters here. No one wants everyone running around like their hair is on fire but they could maybe start calling the GOP what it is as a few other Democrats have done. Stop playing nice, stop pretending these are just your colleagues. Your colleagues are making fascism the norm.
My Senator Klobuchar is worse than useless. And Smith is out soon so.
“She and AOC are the reason I stay in the party and I wish they could politely lock Schumer and Jeffries into a closet somewhere and move forward.”
A-fucking-MEN, Betsy, AMEN. Jasmine Crockett has been really impressive too. It’s kinda hilarious that Trump calls her “low IQ” when she’s probably the smartest and most prominent voices to join the party in the last 5 years.
And I too am so sick of the collegiality. There is nothing more disgusting that watching these guys treat the GOP like friendly co-workers and not a menace to the working class.
It really does feel like the house is on fire and they’re trying to put it out with a water gun.
I pray every day!
Oh my God, a man who brags about acing a dementia test (or even needing it), is the type of man who would brag about passing a syphilis test. (“Yay, I’m positive, that means I pass!”)
Cognitive testing to detect signs of early dementia are given in my Dr office with the first “welcome to Medicare” exam at 65 and yearly after that. Needing it or not, you get the test.
I’ve been seeing a lot of comments like that lately. I’m about to turn 68 & I am freaking out about such a test! Not that my doctor has suggested one yet, nor that I couldn’t ace it, I just have killer test anxiety. Always have!
Not in Maine. I never got that test.
What network is RSBN? Did they think they were doing Tr*mp a favor posting this video of him wandering around? Check out the headlines they’re running on the bottom of the screen. JFC. I’m guessing this is another fascist propaganda network masquerading as a real news organization.
I bet Dementia Don thought he was in the re-decorated White House, since there’s so much gold leaf on the walls.
#47’s father, Fred Trump died of complications of Alzheimer’s. Diagnosed sometime in the early 1990s and died in 1999 at the age of 93…we could be in for a loong ride if the Trump genes allow donnie to live for many more years.
I think it was in Mary Trump’s book, but it was mentioned that as her grandfather’s dementia became worse and worse, he still insisted in going into the office, daily. They’d give him blank papers to sign, while the children ran the company.
I guarantee #47 is not in charge, any more. Just like Fred Trump, aides, are probably doing the same thing…giving #47 blank papers to sign, letting him do the pomp & circumstance, destroy historical monuments, take the credit/blame, while Goebbels Jr and his ilk destroy this country.
Don’t think anyone in this administration has the balls to stop it, either.
“Balls to stop it”? They don’t want to stop anything! They know and knew full well that his brain is mush; he’s just there because he’s the cult leader. Russ Vought and Stephen “Pee Wee German” Miller are running the country.
I have so many thoughts and ideas.
And yes mean old jerks seem to live forever sometimes, but I think Trump sr took somewhat better care of himself. Trump is one stroke away from the pearly gates.
The average length of time from Alzheimer’s diagnosis to death is 10 years, if they’re otherwise healthy. I feel like we’re reaching the stage where it won’t be able to be covered up soon. Whatever drugs they’re using to pump him up for public display will either stop working or cause health issues that end his ability to be out of a hospital bed.
There’s so much wrong with Trump, but one thing I’m curious about—and I wish someone would let it slip—is what he eats at these state visits and fancy events. We know he has limited food preferences and bad taste. The Japanese PM served him eggplant from Nara. There’s no way he ate it. Does he push stuff around on the plate, try to hide it in his napkin, drop it in a potted plant?
Stuffs it in his diaper. That, or one of his minions hides under the table and he feeds it to them like a dog.
Probably had a brain MRI to check for TIAs/strokes. The drooping on the right side of his face can either be Bells Palsy or stroke. Given his circulatory issues, he’s probably had a few mini strokes. One thing we found out when my Granddad died is that he’d had many mini strokes which contributed to his dementia. Same with my aunt.
Probably. And this doctor visit is about six months after his first ‘annual’ doctor visit. Six months is frequently the follow-up period when you’ve got some sort of issue. I’ve had brain MRIs–they are not fun, they clamp your head down in a plastic thing attached to the sliding bench that looks sort of like Hannibal Lector’s mask (trump would have liked that). My first set–to help diagnose what the heck was causing the numbness & weakness in my feet–were done without & then with contrast, so you’re clamped down for a long time. Misery, abject misery. A few years later I had more of that, still tracking down the neurological issue. I damn near threw up when I saw that head-clamp thingie.
The second & third issues related to what turned out to be a TIA in the first instance and actually a heart thing for the second (took a CT scan to nail that one down).
All of this TMI is to say–trump is lying, of course. There’s no such thing as a ‘routine’ MRI. And it’s most likely brain related given how fond he is of telling us his cognitive test results. 🙄.
And I really despise his repeated ‘low IQ’ comments on Jasmine Crocket & AOC. Kamala got the same treatment. Despicable.
“Mr. Trump offered a small new detail about the tests that the White House physician, Dr. Sean P. Barbabella, said the president had received …”
A small new detail, according to the New York Times.
That would have been worded “a dramatic, shocking revelation” if this were Biden.
If only there were journalists who could investigate what’s going on with Trump’s health …
I save the greatest of my ire for the GOP, obviously, but the next big bulk of it goes to the media. We don’t have media in this country, barring a few smaller outlets and independent journalists. We have a moron circus, and I am SICK of people pretending like it’s our own doing. “For clicks.” Don’t give me that. The media has had a noticeable hard right bent since at least the 1990s (which is the youngest age at which I began watching critically; maybe before then too). This is a perfect example of how they let the GOP slide on every damn thing while holding the Democrats’ feet to the fire for nothing. It’s psychotic and getting people to notice that is an uphill battle. “Oh, you just don’t like that they’re being even.” How is it even for them to spend weeks, months, on Biden’s alleged dementia and health problems and then just casually blip over Donald McTaco having an MRI?!
He isn’t in charge of anything. He is just a placeholder until the hardcore right have done what they want and made the changes. He is used as a prop for the base and a distraction for everybody else. Imo He will step down one way or another when it suits the people currently making the decisions.
He’s more than just a placeholder though. Paul Ryan could never. Mitch McConnell could never. Mitt Romney could never. GW Bush could never. Generic Republican could never.
…even though all of the above support at least some–if not most–of his agenda.
It is very specifically Trump’s personality that has transformed the party AND the base. If the Apprentice had never aired, we wouldn’t be in this position as a country, trust.
I think that’s exactly what is meant by him being a place holder – he is just a puppet for the Russians, Thiel, Pee Wee German, etc., but he’s an important puppet, because MAGA rallies around his image.
They have to keep him in place as long as possible not because they want to ensure Vance gets to run for two terms, as suggested in some of the other comments (I doubt anyone thinks Vance would winning two terms is a sure bet, I’m certain they’re worried if he could even win in 2028 alone).
They know that as long as Trump is alive, his followers (and thus the rest of the GOP) will fall in line – precisely because Mitch, Mitt, the Bushes, etc. could never – and that once their puppet shuffles his swollen ankles off this mortal coil, their hold on the GOP may be broken.
But it’s all their planning and decisions – Trump isn’t calling any shots.
Yeah, they only test for that if there are signs OF Dementia. he got an A+ in Dementia lol.
He is too stupid to realize they test for Dementia if there are s/s of it lol.
He had to have two people to show him where to walk, he started wandering off. Geez.
I swear, he had no idea what he was there for. And still crickets from corporate media. I want him to fall flat on his face, in front of international cameras, either here in Japan or South Korea where he’s going next; I want some incident that even his sycophants can’t ignore anymore. I don’t know what that is–truly, at this point they are deliberately, selectively, purposely blind–but something gotta shift the propagandized perception of him.
Maybe they just told him
he passed to placate him.
If he doesn’t like the answers, he fires people. Also, his people thought he needed a dementia test. That alone is concerning. I bet he failed and no one will tell the public. On brand for him and them.
