But Fox used an old tape and showed the racist Buffoon without the trucker hat…talk about making crap up
Sometimes I could weep at the incalculable harm that Murdoch and his Fox “News” have perpetrated. They all indeed love the poorly educated and how reliably and easily they let themselves be manipulated
And then had the gall to say in a follow-up that it was a ‘mistake’. Bold-faced lie.
When oh when will he shuffle off this mortal coil??
I’m hoping former Presidents with distinguished military careers like Washington, Grant, T Roosevelt, his beloved Jackson, Eisenhower, Bush 1, Kennedy, and Carter hasten that departure by haunting him with taunts about his disrespect for our fallen
I like that, they’ll need to re-locate down to MAL, though, since he doesn’t seem to live in the WH anymore.
I pray daily for the opportunity to celebrate the end of the Trump era.
Not just the ridiculous hat but the red tie too. Unless the families specify otherwise, solemn, dark attire is protocol for such events. MAGA is claiming that as commander in chief, he gets to keep his damn hat on but that only applies to those in military or law enforcement uniform and it must be a uniform hat. He is NOT a uniformed officer, it’s a civilian position, and that is NOT a military uniform hat. It’s a campaign hat that he sells.
Once again, this disgusting buffoon is making all discussions about a dignified transfer all about him.
Not only is her not an officer he is a DRAFT DODGER. Take your hat off you POS.
And he’s got the damn hat for sale, so his disrespect of course is financially motivated.
And that dumb hat is $55 on his website! What a grifter.
What gets me is he’s a pompous New Yorker who would never in a million years have worn a trucker hat, let alone a trucker hat with a suit. Such craven pandering to his base (and I mean ‘base’ in all its connotations) is mind-blowing.
I honestly believe that military service should be a prerequisite for the presidency. I realize that would have disqualified many great presidents, but hear me out. I believe that some form of military service (National Guard, Reserves, ROTC, something) should be required to be the Commander in Chief. Thus, if you have your sights set on that, find a way to get that service. I also believe that expertise in the Constitution should be required. Preferably law school, but someone could have decades of service that qualifies them for the presidency without a law degree, so there should be some kind of certification in Constitutional expertise that doesn’t require passing the Bar exam, just fluency in the Constitution.
Someone like Kamala Harris who served as the drug czar for the largest border state in the union could conceivably have received military style training as part of that role in preparation for eventual national service. Just spit balling, but no you can’t be the Commander in Chief if you are incapable of empathy for our service members.
This! A bajillion times this!
Nope. That would immediately disqualify too many brilliant & capable women. We have had a hard enough time trying to get a woman elected as president as it is. Plus we’ve currently got a SECDEF who actively is trying to get rid of all women in the military. He hates women, doesn’t want to serve with them.
@beanybean – Why would the expectation of *some form* of military service exclude women, especially if it includes national guard/reserves/ROTC or serving as a state attorney general? In fact, it could include serving in a medical unit in the military. Do you believe that women are not capable of holding those roles or are unaware that they are currently in fact doing so in large numbers?
It would have benefitted qualified women candidates in 2016 & 2024 if there were experience and intelligence benchmarks for the presidency. Can you imagine if there were a service component that two highly qualified and motivated candidates took the time to achieve while a lazy entitled candidate didn’t bother to pursue?
I mean right here, right now for the next presidential election cycle, 2028. That would exclude an enormous number of current politicians & potential politicians. Currently in the US, women are roughly 50% of the total population but roughly 20% (and that’s rounding UP) of the military. That is a huge chunk of potential you want to cut out.
I’m also talking about the current climate, I’m talking about the recent past. Time after time we heard from the misogynistic press, Republicans, all & sundry about how on earth could Hillary Clinton be President & Commander in Chief when she hadn’t even served in the military? The same stupid line was repeated over and over again, and gets repeated over and over & over again any time there’s a serious female candidate (e.g., Elizabeth Warren).
And good gad, yes, I am aware of women in the military–I worked as a civilian employee for both the Army & the Navy. Are YOU aware of the number of female admirals & generals who lost their rank under SECDEF Jaegermeister?
I’ve held this belief since long before the current regime and had it been a factor earlier the current regime never would have happened. Now is not the time obviously to make this type of change but now is the time to highlight the problem with allowing people with zero public service and political experience to hold the highest office. If we don’t learn from this nightmare, we’ll just repeat it.
ITA Beanie. There are TONS of positions in an administrations that should have (and traditionally DID have until now) that have military service as a prerequisite. POTUS should not be one of them. DHS, Secretary of Defense, National Sec Advisor and on and on…The folks who make key decisions regarding war/defense should have a military background. For POTUS we need more teachers, nurses, community organizers, and just more regular working class people who have come into politics not because they were on a typical career trajectory from military to Congress, but because they care about communities.
By the rule you’re proposing here, Obama wouldn’t have qualified for POTUS.
He thinks he can do this 💩 because he is an asshat.
How can anyone, much less anyone military-affiliated, support this creature?
He’s such a fucking disgrace. He’s always been this shitty (and I believe this is his first time at Dover). He’s always tried to avoid Normandy. He thinks anyone who serves are “suckers and losers”; always has.
He already called them suckers and losers and held a photo op on top of their graves, so wearing a hat while receiving remains is just par for the course. His wife already told us they don’t care, so why are folks shocked?
A photo op on top of graves that showed coffee cups and phones placed on top of other graves in Arlington Cemetery. Because those fallen troops and their families didn’t matter to him or his supporters.
I wouldn’t piss on Trump voters if they were on fire. We all knew who Trump was, yet they entrusted him the country.
Same Meg, same. The level of chaos, damage, and destruction that has resulted from it cannot be overstated.
Same. I will never forgive them. Bothers me how they don’t wanna talk about politics and pretend they don’t know what’s going on now that all hell has broken loose as a direct result of their vote. There’s a viral video of a MAGA who is sad the people of Ireland treated her poorly in a pub once they pieced together she is MAGA. Perpetual victims of their own actions.
They don’t even have the damn sense to say, you know what I voted for a pedophile who set the world on fire, I obviously made an incorrect choice and am easily fooled/manipulated, maybe I should sit out the next election. Zero self awareness whatsoever.
When the I don’t let politics interfere in my personal relationships folks reach out to me about possibly moving to Canada I don’t respond. I give them 10X the consideration they gave to POC and the vulnerable when they went inside that voting booth and threw us all under the bus. Ten times zero is zero – and that’s what they get from me. Get bent – and fix the mess YOU created, instead of running to a new country to eff up and try to hillbilly or Karenize that one.
He was more worried about keeping his hair in place than about respecting the soldiers who died. He’s a monster.
That lady dying after a tummy tuck. Oof.
F-cking -sshole. Sorry, not sorry. This person is a disgrace and a disaster. Hope our country can recover after he is gone.
@ JFERBER. Sadly, I think his first term did so much damage — which he appears to be ‘finishing’ off what he didn’t accomplish in his 1st term
I think if he manages to live long enough to complete his 2nd term, it will take decades to unravel the mess he has created and for Americans to heal from the trauma inflicted on them, their families and their businesses
And the people in positions of power who enable all his harm, most destructive and unlawful actions are just as vile – Republicans in Congress, the Supreme Court and other judges, Cabinet members, his plants at the justice department and FBI, state election board officials and every self-dealing company, media and institution head who has sucked up, complied in advance, normalized his rhetoric And because I have a long memory, every single simpering 2015 Republican presidential candidate who was waiting for the other guy to call Trump out, and hoping to be the last guy standing as Trump rolled over them one by one by one (Jeb Bush, Rubio, and the rest of the clown car)
The president who made racism fun again. Bastard.
