Tori Spelling is “showing signs of an eating disorder”

infphoto_1238007

The tabloids have been attacking Tori Spelling for months now, claiming that she’s too thin and that she’s “scary skinny”. After giving birth to daughter Stella, her weight really hasn’t fluctuated that much – she’s been really, really thin, but consistently thin. Only the coverage of her thinness ebbs and flows, most of it proceeding a new season of Tori & Dean, shocking. Last October, Tori got into a war with Star Mag, after the tabloid claimed she was down to 95 pounds. Tori revealed her weight at the time – 107 pounds. After that, she maybe put on a few more pounds, which she then dramatically lost again in time for this new season of Tori & Dean, leading to a new round of reports – once again, from Starthat Tori was scary skinny.

This week Life & Style picks up the “Tori is scary skinny” mantle, claiming that she’s now down to 93 pounds, and that she “shows signs of an eating disorder.” Here’s more, courtesy of Jezebel:

Life & Style – Tori spelling is 93 lbs. She doesn’t eat, and doesn’t even drink water. The mag uses an arrow to point to the “fur” on her upper arms, notes that her eyes are sunken, and claims “She’s showing signs of an eating disorder.”

The story also points out: “Tori often overcompensates for extreme thinness by talking up her indulgences. Tori’s Twitter page is filled with accounts of hearty meals and snacks.”

Tori allegedly has a 24-inch waist, which the mag illustrates by printing the “actual size” of her jeans’ waistband. We took a tape measure to these jeans and they’re printed 10 inches wide so we don’t know what the hell is going on.

Eh. I’ve given Tori so many passes on her skinniness, but today I’m feeling a little less generous. Yes, it could be that she’s just a “naturally thin” girl who is running after two kids and maybe she forgets to eat. But perhaps she really isn’t all that healthy, and making excuses isn’t helping. In any case, I was looking through recent photos of her, and while she does look very thin, she doesn’t really look “eating disorder thin” to me, but maybe my radar is off. Tori’s arms look healthier to me than Sarah Jessica Parker’s. Maybe Dean just needs to encourage her to eat. Like, they could do family dinners or something.

Speaking of Dean, here’s another little tidbit from this week’s tabloids – Star Mag reports that “Candy Spelling offered Tori Spelling $10 million to divorce Dean McDemott, whom Candy feels is a ‘leech.’” Only $10 million? Come on, Candy!

Here’s Tori from behind:

She’s not as sinewy as SJP but I think of the days when she was way younger and did a guest spot on Saved By the Bell (Screech’s nerdy girl love interest). Violet? She was smallish then but she looked filled out and healthy. I’ll buy that she’s naturally thin but she’s deff got something going on there with ED.

  2. Risa says:

    @ Aviatrix-

That is what I was thinking of- I remember she use to be small but filled out- maybe age isn’t agreeing with her? I can hardly believe that something ISN’T going on!

  3. pooky says:

What’s the one absolutely guaranteed way for a D-list reality “star” to get press coverage? Either put on 20lb or starve yourself until the tabs simply have to put you on their pages. Hey presto, a bunch of people tune into your show to gawk at your messed-up dining habits.

  4. bite me says:

poor thing, so damn ugly, at least she used to have a a good body

  5. Maria says:

are you kidding me? of COURSE she has an eating disorder. i’ve seen so many photos that show all the bones in her back recently (even the one you posted nearly shows them, and that’s in flourescent lighting, not natural lighting). there are indeed very naturally thin people, but Tori isn’t one of them. we all remember her on 90210- thin, but nothing like this. and when you’re younger is when you are thinner.

  6. Bee says:

I like Tori Spelling. She seems fairly down to earth for someone raised with so much money. But for goodness sake she’s beginning to look like a giant lollipop(big head and skinny body). It’s disturbing.

  7. Len says:

She’s not naturally thin. She was never this thin in the 90210-days. She’s a very insecure woman, who knows she is not beautiful enough for Hollywood and thinks being skinny will at least make her perfect where her weight is concerned.

  8. Marjalane says:

Anything for a little more attention.

  9. annaloo says:

    my god, she is ugly

  10. dre says:

Jenny – are you mentally ill? Why would you make a comment like that about someone you dont even know? And even if you did know her, you dont make comments like that about people…She has loved ones who would miss her you idiot!

  11. ogechi says:

@jenny, your comment is so wicked and vicious.I frankly advice you stop wishing death for anybody bcos you never can tell who will die first.

  12. ViktoryGin says:

When you have youth on your side, you can afford to look and be this thin as you tend to have facial fat that gives you that soft, vibrant appearance of youth. As you age, you begin to lose that facial fat and if you are rail thin you WILL begin to look haggard. This why these ultra thin celebs who are 40-ish like Renee Zellweger, SJP, Madonna look so rough about the face. Poor Tori. She was always hard on the eyes.

  13. lucy2 says:

She was always very thin, but in a natural, healthy way. There was a pic of her back a few days ago that was really scary – way beyond a busy mom, way beyond someone naturally thin. She looked anorexic in that photo, not as bad in these, but something is obviously going on.
The cynic in me tends to agree with pooky about getting media coverage though.

  14. kerri says:

she has a real problem. Bricks and stones has a pic of her from behind in a backless dress and she looks like a skeleton. she may not look that bad here.

  15. Luci says:

    tori is a raging anorexic
    its f* obvious
    she needs help asap

  16. Maritza says:

It could be she is having marital problems, either that or she is working way to hard. I like Tori, she’s not a snob and seems like a really down to earth person.

  17. suz says:

Does anyone remember past seasons of Tori and Dean when she had just had her first child and she was quite chubby? I think the extra weight really did wonders for her attractiveness. I think she’s naturally “normal,” like real-world skinny but not hollywood skinny, and the fact that she’s underweight shows in how strained and disgusting her face looks these days.

  18. debbie says:

I think she is scary skinny because Dean is a scary leech! I read somewhere recently that he boasted to his friend that he “did’t love her” and married her for the money he thought he would have. Someone who is secure in their relationship/marriage should look happier…healthier…and should eat more! I wish someone close to her could get her some help!

  19. GatsbyGal says:

She can’t possibly be natrually skinny with a head that big. Of course she has an eating disorder, duuuhhh.

  20. Jules says:

Hmm, don’t eating disorders frequently come along with ‘mommy issues’.

  21. Lori says:

    @Marjalane

People don’t have eating disorders for attention. I really think that you are judging to harshly.

Get better Tori. Her mother did this to her tbh.

  22. Lori says:

Believe it or not, some of us like Tori and are rooting for her.

  23. Charlie Dia says:

The tanning and bleached hair and overdone makeup do nothing to help her look any more youthful or healthier either. Looking at her (or anyone) like this makes me weep a little inside.

  24. Ellen Smith says:

Crooked nostrils, too. And how does one “forget to eat?” Most of us love food and look forward to a good meal.

  25. bellaluna says:

Despite what Tori claims to the contrary, she is obviously unhealthy and needs a nutritionist’s attention, at least.

I have 3 kids (4, if you count my hubby’s from his previous marriage), and there are times I get busy and simply don’t have time to eat. It has nothing to do with “forgetting to eat,” and it has everything to do with being too busy to eat. However, I have a husband who hounds me to eat, since I am nursing our infant son. He will actually fix me food and feed it to me if I’m too busy nursing our baby. (Yes, ladies, I’ve got a good man!)

And Tori’s “naturally thin” crap is ages old; it’s been in the lingo since heroin chic hit. I call b.s. and eating disorder. She was NEVER this thin before. And it’s not a good look for her, what with her huge implants and concave cleavage. She could lose an entire meal in that crevasse.

  26. EB says:

I think you’re being very generous, when in fact it’s been quite clear that Tori is resorting to the tried and true media tricks in order to promote her only meal ticket. She obviously is quite ill, and is highlighting that and some “marital difficulties” to promote her show. She used her rift with her mother in a similar fashion. It’s very sad.

  27. Sarah says:

I definitely agree that something not-healthy is going on here; however, people can lose weight drastically for a variety of reasons. Tori could have an undiagnosed/undisclosed illness; she could just be extremely stressed out. It could be ANYTHING — I lost thirty pounds in a matter of a couple months because of a medication I was put on, and I’m a naturally thin person. Just sayin’.

  28. Cinderella says:

She looks miserable. And where’s that jackass husband of hers?

  29. snapdragon says:

her head is now so much bigger than her body she looks like the kid from “mask.”

  30. Diane M says:

Just an observation. I don’t think she is suffering from an eating disorder. When the big troubles began in my marriage I lost an incredible amount of weight just from nerves and distress.

There are those pesky rumors going around about her marriage. Just throwing it out there that this could be the cause. I am naturally thin at 5’9 and 125 lbs. But my weight dropped drastically and I was really thin. But at the time you are so mind fucked that the weight you don’t notice.

Give her a break. She seems like a normal girl.

  31. moo says:

She’s been showing these signs for a long time! No news here…..

  32. Kim says:

UMMM hello she has had an eating disorder for years!!!!

  33. scorpiogal says:

I can’t believe there is even any debate here. She has an eating disorder! DUH! And if the people around her continue to do nothing, it’s not going to end well.

  34. Fallible Human says:

From reading her books and watching her show, I like her. She seems like a kind-hearted, vulnerable, and approachable person. To me, it looks obvious that she is suffering from some sort of illness-either eating disorder or some other malady that causes weight loss. She is much too thin-it doesn’t look healthy. Bless her heart–hope she will be okay.

  35. j. ferber says:

In the picture with her in tights, Tori looks like an emaciated ninety year old woman. That was my first impression. Clearly she has anorexia and that stupid, leeching husband of hers does nothing to help her. She should take the ten million and buy a hamburger.

  36. gg says:

The looks of her arm alone tell the tale. No muscle in there, just skin and bones from not eating. I hope she eats soon.

  37. Ruffian9 says:

    Ya think??

  38. Kelaa Khaa says:

Perhaps Tori has grave’s disease which is an overactive thyroid? My friend got it after her first child and got really skinny. I think Tori is pretty and I enjoyed the book Storitelling.

  39. albeli says:

    How is this news? Duh.

  40. Anj says:

    SHE LOOKS LIKE A HORSE.

  41. DrM says:

Poor Tori. I like her and these pictures make me sad. She is very obviously not well and it is maddening when questions like “does she have an eating disorder??” are asked. No KIDDING she has an eating disorder. A big part of the problem with ED’s is the denial that the people who suffer from them are in. They will go to immense lengths to hide their eating disorders from others, make excuses for their weight, blame a ‘busy life’, hormones, stress, you name it.Tori has been like this for so long (as other’s have said) it is very obviously not some new thing. I really feel for her…life can be really tough and money does not fix everything. Look at her mother…

    Get some help girl…get better…

  42. Slymm27 says:

OMG! The girl is ugly. Wow, and she has serious marital problems, poor child.

  43. CeeCee12 says:

Tori will never ever be attractive. She has had every part of her surgically altered and she is still ugly.
I think she is using it for PR like partly but I think she is only enhancing her already present eating disorder.
She has small kids so I hope she tries to get better for their sakes.

bellaluna-I have a good one too!

  44. Alexa says:

Why would a woman (or man) call another woman (or man) – especially a vulnerable one – “ugly”!? When I hear somebody say that about another person they become greatly diminished in my opinion. Criticizing someone like that takes the mentality of a maladjusted child bully or a developmentally delayed adult. Come on!!

And if those rumors about Dean are true – what a sick piece of garbage he is!

FWIW – I remember when “90210” first came out and thinking that “Donna” was very pretty and had a very sexy figure. I loved Tori’s big brown eyes. Now – after reading such cruel things written about her – I can’t understand why anyone would continue to bash someone who has had to endure such severe rejection (from her own parent, no less) her whole life. Have you NO SOULS!?!

  45. cara says:

she has shrunk, too bad her head didn’t..it’s still way too big

  46. california angel says:

Gee I wonder why she’s so insecure, seeing as people have such nice things to say about her…eye roll

  47. daisy says:

    she looks like rupaul

  48. Chelsea says:

She has an eating disorder, no question about it. I mean obviously she’s not going to be like “Yeah, I’m this thin because I don’t eat and I have anorexia”. When you’re anorexic you’re going to make up excuses as to why you’re so small – you’re going to deny anything is wrong until they want help themselves and want to get healthy.
Some of you are being ridiculous and rude however. Calling her disgusting and ugly? I honestly am not surprised she has an eating disorder with all the comments people are making about her. Who wouldn’t have issues when having to deal with that? You have to be pretty strong and confident not to deal with any self doubt when people are constantly critisizing you.
I feel bad for Tori and I hope she realizes she is beautiful and doesn’t need to starve herself to be so. Best wishes
