Octomom on Oprah: I made $100k for Star bikini photos

suleman2
So Octomom is on Oprah tonight and I’m going to be completely honest with you – I am covering it now so I don’t have to watch the whole f’ing thing. I’m kind of a perfectionist and I’ll watch all of Octomom’s lies and write them down and make fun of them individually, like I did for her cackling appearance on The View. We already know that she’s going to spout her psychobabble and lie through her capped teeth about why she got pregnant with all those embryos and how she makes it through the days with 14 kids. Oprah might call her on some of her bullsh*t, like the women did on the View, but ultimately Suleman will have yet another platform for her lies and warped version of the truth.

I didn’t even want to read all the details on Oprah.com, but I just did and it’s more of the same from Suleman. Oprah even praises her for being “insightful” when she repeats the same dimestore Psych 101 crap she’s spouted since she earned celebrity status by having a whopping eight babies at once. Suleman never wanted to be famous, she doesn’t want the spotlight, she’s just trying to make money for her kids, etc.

Anyway, TMZ has a clip that shows some of the footage aired on Oprah after cameras spent 24 hours inside that chaotic home that Suleman isn’t paying for. One of her older children, a girl named Clarissa, is shown deliberately stepping on one of the one year-old Octuplets. In another scene, Nadya threatens one of her sons who wants to sleep in by telling him that CPS will take him away if he doesn’t go to school.

We’ll see this trainwreck soon enough, and here are more advanced details, courtesy of Entertainment Tonight. (Oprah.com also has the details of the interview.) I’m surprised it’s taken so long for Oprah to get this interview, and frankly I’m disappointed that she gave this woman a platform. She had a pedophile on her show yesterday, though, so it’s not like her standards are high:

Nadya Suleman went on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to offer an inside look into her life as a single mother of 14 children, calling her decision to have so many kids “selfish.”

“I was caught up in my own selfish desires. … I feel as though I wasn’t thinking,” Nadya tells Oprah of her decision to get in vitro fertilization, thus impregnating her with eight babies. “I believe that perhaps I’ve always coveted that connection to another person. … You can’t regret children.”

She says of learning she was pregnant with octuplets, “I never could have conceptualized something like this would happen. … I would never have done this on purpose.”

The octuplet mom says she just works to keep her family afloat, saying they’re in the “midst of survival.” She tells Oprah that she can never give her children enough attention. “I have a tremendous amount of guilt. … They have all have different unique needs. … I live in guilt.”

When asked if she’s ever considered putting some of her kids up for adoption, she says firmly, “I will do anything in my power to, without exploiting my children, create revenue. … I know that sounds selfish but I breathe for my children.”

It was also asked if Nadya will ever reveal the father of her kids, of which she replied, “That’s not my place.” As for dating, Nadya says that is out of the question for now. “How could I even fathom taking an ounce of energy from them and giving it to a stranger?”

She says if she had to do it all over, knowing what she knows now, she might have transferred in less embryos. “I never wanted more than six, seven children total.”

[From Entertainment Tonight]

In the clip of the show that’s available on Oprah.com Octomom admits that she made $100,000 for the bikini photos in Star Magazine, but says that the money is gone already. I doubt she spent it on her overdue mortgage.

In regards to that last quote, “I never wanted more than six, seven children total,” Nadya’s ex publicist says that’s not true at all, and that she told him that she had 11 embryos implanted in a deliberate and reckless attempt to get rich and famous. He said “Nadya’s plan was always to make money out of her amazing pregnancy.”

Dr. Oz lit into Suleman last year and it’s a shame that Oprah didn’t let him question her. He called her “selfishly delusional” when her dad was on last February. He also said that deliberately getting pregnant with so many babies was cruel. Here are Oz’s statements at the time:

“Ultimately this is a form of cruelty [to the children]. [Nadya is] a very bright woman, but selfishly delusional.

“There is a relatively small chance that all eight of those kids will grow up to be normal adults. There’s going to be a chance of cerebral palsy, developmental delays, emotionally, mentally, vision problems, hearing problems. These kids would fit into my palm. To think that they would be able to grow normally despite being in the hospital and getting all this care they’ve got is unlikely.”

“This is a major failure in professionalism. What the physician did… was not fair. When you put six embryos in a patient you now have seven patients… you risk those lives by implanting them all at the same time.”

[From Dr. Oz’s appearance on Oprah, 2/24/09]

Despite what Oz said about Suleman last year, Oprah went relatively easy on her from what I can tell, which reminds me of the disgustingly glowing piece The NY Times ran on her several months ago. Suleman did have a platform for her lies, and here are the ones that stuck out for me:

I have never been on welfare. I have not had plastic surgery. I have never wanted to look like some celebrity. I’ve never wanted fame. I need the truth out there. Why? Because it’s deleterious. It’s affecting my children.”

I think having this woman for a mother is affecting her children way more than some stories that were printed in the tabloids months ago, many of which were proven true. (She didn’t have plastic surgery? She wasn’t on welfare?) It’s not like people are even paying that much attention to her at this point anyway.

  3. missy says:

I cant believe Oprah would stoop to giving this ‘woman’ air time. Everything about her is a lie.
Anyone with 2 eyes and a tiny bit of knowledge on plastic surgery can spot every procedure she had done.
I doubt one penny of that money went to her debt or saved for her kids, maybe went to the tummy tuck bill?
She makes me sick beyond words. I usually watch Oprah when i get home from work but I will be skipping this episode.

  4. Laurie says:

I am speechless to see the baby stomped on! Where is CPS?!! Here is a compilation on public records documents about Nadya. If you can stomach it, this shows exactly what she did to get where she is today. (start with www.)

  5. simplicity says:

O, it would seem, is desperate need of ratings. I won’t be watching.

Suleman had over 1M in medical bills for which the carrier then billed the state of California.

I’ll look for the Mommy Dearest books these kids will someday write.

I agree Oz would have been the better interviewer.

  6. nycmom10024 says:

Ok, so I have watched the first 15 minutes and I think this woman is nuts and pretty delusional. Although she does seem less crazy than the View clip. Having said that, I think the 3 year old stepping on a 14 month old sibling happens in more homes than her’s. I too have used the line on my child. “You have to go to school it is the law, if you don’t go to school that is against the law” I wouldn’t indict her because of that. Look her family’s situation is pretty chaotic and for me sad. I feel sorry for her and her kids.

  7. Wow says:

She’s right down there with Kate Gosselin. These women should just admit they deliberately had all of these kids for noteriety/fame. Just admit it ladies, no one will bat an eye. It’s the lesser of the two straight to fame evils. At least they’re not sleeping with married people for fame.

  8. gg says:

I think it’s delusional for one woman to have even THREE kids with no means of support and no partner. She thinks she sounds so sensible by just throwing 5-syllable words out.

    Not fooling anybody, NadZ.

  9. Sugar & Spice says:

Good, now maybe she can start paying back the State of California!!!

  10. Kim says:

She is so pathelogical I pray someone is monitoring her with those kids! Havent had any surgery – Nadia, sweetie we have all seen pictures of you before the surgery(ies) and YES you have. Maybe in your delusional world you havent but in reality you have.

If she wanted to do the right thing she would give some of the kids up for adoption. She could even do it locally so they could still know each other as siblings & not be permanently seperated. She can not afford financially or mentally to properly care for all those kids. Im not saying she doesnt love them but to me if you really love your child you will do whatever it takes for he/she to have best life even if that means giving the child up.

  11. Sugar & Spice says:

Ok, this statement just proves she makes no sense: She says if she had to do it all over, knowing what she knows now, she might have transferred in less embryos. “I never wanted more than six, seven children total.”

Before she got impregnated with the octuplets, she ALREADY had SIX children!

  12. Kim says:

Every tax payer in the state of California has a right to comment on her and her parenting since we footed the bill for her hospital stay! She doesnt have the means financially or mentally to raise these children in best atmosphere. She should do the right thing and put them up for adoption. She isnt because she is a) selfish b) still thinks they will be her paycheck and make her famous.

  13. Kim says:

Her poor older kids have been thrown by the wayside with her having to care for all these babies or they have become full time babysitters themselves.

People can chose to have as many kids as they want if they can afford them and watch them themselves. The Duggars, Octomom, etc all pawn of child rearing duties of the younger sibs to the older sibs. That is totally selfish parenting. Dont tell me “Oh they like it.” There isnt a teenager in the world who wouldnt chose being with their friends over raising their siblings. People like the Duggars should be sterilized. Unless they can raise ALL their children with no help from the older siblings or outsiders in any way shape or form they should not be able to force their children or expect their older children to raise the younger siblings. Pathetic, selfish parenting!

  14. Camille says:

She is so unattractive, yeah right @ no plastic surgery! She looks like a freak!

  15. gg says:

I’m watching it right now – she keeps interrupting Oprah with the sidetracking. It’s so crazy. She just keeps repeating herself.

Those poor kids. They have no role models, and she apparently had none either.

  16. Jag says:

She’s a child hoarder, so no, she won’t ever give them up for adoption. She’s mentally ill and I can’t believe that Oprah paid her to be on the show. Disgusting.

  17. Crash2GO2 says:

Oprah is sliding down, down, down…

  18. jane says:

@ Kim #12: Hear Hear! Can’t stand this hateful psychotic bitch & resent having my tax dollars pay for her “selfishness”.

  19. jane says:

Can’t stand Oprah either. You’d have to pay me to watch her crap.

  20. JC126 says:

This woman should be looked in an insane asylum. I don’t know why ANYONE gives her a platform, whether ET, Oprah, or whoever. She’s a liar and nutty.

  21. canadianchick says:

Oprah is sure hitting rock bottom these days-I expect better Lady O…

As for the other O, who does belong in psychiatric care, her parents should stop enabling her and CPS should enforce monitoring, therapy and apprehend the kids if she doesn’t follow suit.

  22. bellaluna says:

Then why don’t you make a few house payments, bitch?

Who does she think she’s kidding? She didn’t even know that “deleterious” was a word, let alone what it means!

  23. Johnthing says:

    Octoshite.

  24. Lita says:

“.. Unless they can raise ALL their children with no help from the older siblings or outsiders in any way shape or form ..”

@Kim, I completely disagree. You make that blanket statement (and further) not about Octocrazy but everyone, ever, anywhere; that is what I take issue with. I counter that family – including children of said family – are required to assist one another. And work to help one another. That’s family.

God help my children if they behaved as selfishly as you paint. In my opinion such fam-assistance is a positive too often lacking. Life so frequently has all those grey areas, huh.

  25. Taya says:

I might not be the biggest Nayda fan out there, but I think she is much better than that hag Kate. I do not dislike her one bit. I think that she really tries to give her children a good life and loves them deeply unlike c*nt Kate who would sell her children to the highest bidder…whoops she already did that with TLC. At least with Nayda, you do not see any children going to the bathroon in front of 3 camera men in a closed off room unlike KHate.

  26. Constance says:

I feel sorry for all of you in California. This dirty specimen of a mammal brings a new low to the image of American families.

It is wrong to decide to have children when you do not want to/ cannot support them properly. Properly: I mean with your own hard working employment and with immediate family who have made the decision with you to have children. Selling out your image to the media is not proper employment. (yeah that means you too Peepee Price!)

Yes family should stick together to help out those who need it. It is not family’s obligation to crutch idiots who don’t care that they are abusing the system and each other to survive for their entire lives. That is selfishly delusional.

You want to be taken seriously and look like an upstanding parent? Stand on your own two feet and help yourself. Octocu-t obviously can’t do that and can’t even understand the concept.

  27. Lady Nightshade says:

I realize after watching that home video footage, that there is no reason to harbor distain for this woman. She has created her own hell and now she must live in it.

  28. CB Rawks says:

She looks even more hellish than before. Her sharpie eyebrows and sunken eye sockets are going to give me nightmares.

  29. Dixie says:

If, by her own admission, she was on food stamps for that year before the birth of the tups,(and let`s face it, she originally denied it. Only after it was made public knowledge did she own up to it) I have to ask, how on earth was she able to qualify for the food stamp program, yet have enough disposable income to pursue yet ANOTHER very expensive round of IVF that resulted in their birth!I don`t think they`d have been offering her $490 a month in food stamps if they knew she was across town spending $10,000 or more to manufacture 8 more mouths to feed.

    • Floridaseaturtle says:

Hmm, assuming that timeline is true, there are only a couple of ways…either the Dr. gave her pro bono procedures for the publicity, or she hid the money, outside of a bank acct, which would be lying about your available income, and happens to be a felony. Hope the Dr. gave her pro bono.
