More Charlie Hunnam shirtless pictures from Men’s Fitness

charliehunnan_shirtless1
Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, 30, is shirtless in the November issue of Men’s Fitness. We’ve already covered Hunnam’s hairy, buff cover appearance, but now that I have access to the full article and photos I felt the burning urge to revisit it. In the article, there are more shirtless pictures along with some details on Hunnam’s on-the-go bodyweight workout. He also shares a story about how he single-handedly wrestled a giant intruder at his house and threatened him with death by machete. Of course he never called the police and the tale sounds somewhat bogus to me, as if he’s trying to live up to his character’s reputation. He also tells a sad story about how the real life guy who inspired his Son’s character, Jax, was shot dead before he could ever watch the show. Here’s more from lovely Brit Charlie:

charliehunnan_shirtless3

His exercise and diet routine
He strives to keep his workouts gritty, hardcore and raw. He works long hours – up to 15 hours a day – and must be creative to find time for his training. Sometimes he’ll swim a mile, other times he’ll squeeze in workouts at his house using body-weight moves alone. It helps that he keeps his diet clean, sticking to lean protein and natural foods. The secret to a long and happy life? “Drinking vegetable juice every day,” he says.

Lately, he’s caught the Bartendaz bug, adopting a program created by a group of guys in Harlem and Brooklyn who work out rigorously at playgrounds and in parks…

On the inspiration for his character
To prep for his role, Hunnam hung out with outlaw bikers in Northern California. “There was a kid I met in this club who was exactly who I was hired to play. He was the son of a man in the motorcycle club, he’d grown up in the club, every one of his birthday parties had been thrown in the clubhouse. I wear exactly the shoes he wore, the jeans he wore. He had a very powerful impact on me. He was an amazing guy.” And he was shot dead before Sons started production, hence the bullet necklace [Hunnam wears]. “I wear it for him – to remember the flavor he taught me.”

On how he caught a robber and sent him packing
A few weeks before sitting down with Men’s Fitness, he was sitting in his home office at 1 a.m. when he heard rustling in his house. [in LA]. Picking up his machete he keeps in his office (yes, he keeps a machete in his office), Hunnam walked down the hall and bumped into a burglar. “He was about 5’10″, 245 pounds – a beast,” Hunnam says, who stands 6’1″ and weighs 180 pounds. “I pinned him to the ground and said, ‘Dude, I’m not going to f*ck you up this time, but if you ever come near here again, literally, they’ll never find your body – I’ll cut you in so many pieces.’” Then without calling the cops, he released the intruder, who never came back.

[From Men's Fitness, print edition, November, 2010]

He’s lucky the robber didn’t have a gun, although this story sounds fake to me. It would be such an easy tale to make up in order to increase his street cred and it’s so cliche – he wrestled a big dude to the ground and scared him off with a machete! Where did he put the machete while he was wrestling him? Did he set it aside, only to pick it up again? It’s so bogus. As I’ve said in our earlier coverage on Hunnam, I don’t get the impression that he’s all that mature for 30. He doesn’t seem like a total dick or anything, but he’s no Alexander Skarsgard personality-wise. He’s sure nice to look at though.

There are even more jaw-dropping photos in Charlie’s spread. You can pick up Men’s Fitness on newsstands in the US and you can buy it digitally for your computer or iPad (and zoom in!) on Zinio.com.

Charlie Hunnam shirtless and sweaty on the cover of Men’s Fitness

charliehunnam
So I’ve been watching Sons of Anarchy this season, which is its third. (I just checked) I haven’t seen this week’s episode yet, but I’ve seen the first two and I have to say I really like that show. I may even go back and watch the first two seasons. The violence can be a bit much, but it’s a very watchable, action-filled drama with some excellent performances, especially from Charlie Hunnam, who I find myself staring at dreamily. He is in no way my type as I like clean cut guys with short haircuts and groomed facial hair, but I’ll make an exception for him. Even under all that beard and scraggly hair his beauty shines through, and now that I’ve seen him shirtless I get it, I really do. He appears on the cover of Men’s Fitness showing off his amazing physique. Just Jared has the details from a recent interview Hannam gave to Collider:

Charlie Hunnam shows off his ripped physique on the November 2010 cover of Men’s Fitness!

The 30-year-old Sons of Anarchy actor recently spoke with Collider about his work on the show. Here’s what he had to say:

On the show’s lack of Emmy recognition: “I personally was really happy. I don’t subscribe to Emmys or awards, or any of that sh*t. I think it’s all a crock of sh*t, and I think it’s corrupting. I was happy that we weren’t on the receiving end of a force that could change the dynamic that we have because I think it’s working.”

On Jax’s journey this season: “It’s a darker Jax than we’ve seen so far. The coolest thing about this season, for me, as an audience member and a fan of this subculture, is that we get to explore a little bit more of the international sense of these clubs.”

[From Collider via Just Jared]

It’s disappointing to read this interview and hear Hunnam sound like an anti-establishment poser. He calls awards shows a “crock of sh*t” and while they may be he’s getting paid good money to act on TV and could be more gracious about it. Or he could admit the truth, like “I don’t feel comfortable going to awards shows and industry events” and/or “I’m disappointed that we weren’t nominated.” Instead he claims to hate them all and calls them “corrupting.” My crush is fading a little now.

Charlie was featured on Hot Guy Friday two weeks ago thanks to your requests. He had a chance to be a regular before he opened his mouth, although those chiseled abs are definitely working in his favor. He’ll have to work on his attitude, but he does have an accent going for him. 30 year-old Hunnam is from England. Here’s a link to an interview he did with his co-star, Katey Segal, last year. He seems like a decent enough guy, but the maturity level could improve. I’ll overlook it.

Hot Guy Emmys: Dudes look better in tuxes and suits

wenn2980002

Ah, the Hot Men of The Emmys. Hot Guy Emmys? Hot Guy Awards: The Emmys Edition? Whatever you want to call it, there was a spectacular dearth of truly hot men at the Emmys. Sure, there were cute guys, and many very talented men. But panty-droppers and leg-crossing hotties? There were only a few. So let’s start it off with a classic, Mr. George Clooney. I thought he came across as a bit smug during his award presentation (for the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award), and his bronzing is reaching George Hamiliton proportions. But I still get hot for George sometimes. I mean, he knows how to wear the hell out of a tux, and you know he loves the kinkiest sh-t out there. Also – I can’t find any photos of Elisabetta Canalis anywhere, although most sources have her backstage at the Emmys. Clooney didn’t let her walk the red carpet and wouldn’t answer questions about her – which I think means she’s on the way out. So Clooney will be single soon, maybe.

Aaron Paul is adorable. Beautiful eyes. I would love to see more of him. And he won his first Emmy, bitches!

Jon Hamm is just so lovely. Sigh… is there anything else to say about him, really? His dance moves are killer and he wears the f-ck out of a tux. Sweet Jesus. His girlfriend better watch her back.

Alexander Skarsgard was there, although he barely posed for any photos. But he did present with Paquin & Moyer. Rumor going around that he and Kate Bosworth are over… I might write about it in a sec. So… hello, Mr. Skarsgard.

I swoon a little when Stephen Moyer talks in his regular British accent. He’s very sexy in real life, although he’s pretty short. Little pocket rocket.

Speaking of funky hair, Al Pacino. Don’t get me wrong, I would still hit it (it’s Michael Corleone, after all), but is he wearing a hairpiece? Right?

Kiefer Sutherland shirtless: still hot, or kind of gross?

fp_5609467_uno_sutherland_kiefer_082110

I was never a 24 watcher. Nothing personal against Kiefer Sutherland or any fans of the show, but I just never got into it. That being said, I am a fan of Kiefer Sutherland. To me, it’s like the affection I have for Amy Winehouse. I know both Kiefer and Amy are probably hopeless addicts/alcoholics that do dumb sh-t on a regular basis, but I think they’re both talented and I want them to do well.

Anyway, Kiefer was chilling out in Portofino, Italy this weekend, and there are many photos of him hanging out shirtless and doing funny things. He was with his girlfriend – can you imagine dating Kiefer? I’d imagine it would be equal parts fun, hot and terrifying. But you’d get to hit this – would it be worth it? Kiefer is 44 years old, and I’d say that he’s still in really great shape, which surprises me. He’s muscular and toned, but he doesn’t look plucked and sucked, you know? I like that. He looks like a guy who takes care of himself for the most part, but still loves pasta and beer.

So would I hit it? Yes, I would hit it if he and I were a little drunk. I’d hit it for the fun of it. I’d hit it because I love his voice (it’s sexy). I’d hit it despite the fact that Kiefer is steadily morphing into his father Donald (in looks), and although I think highly of Donald’s acting, I’ve never wanted to bone him. But Kiefer… yeah, it looks good to me.

Anthony Mackie is my new crush

wenn29619911
Now before we get to Hot Guy Friday a little later today, let me just say that Anthony Mackie was my idea, that I came up with him a couple of days ago, and that Kaiser only gives me credit for the guys I mention that she doesn’t think are hot. So now that I’ve learned more about Anthony Mackie after marveling over his looks and tight body on the red carpet for a while, my crush is completely justified. He gave an interview to Details and he sounds like a guy who knows his own mind, doesn’t take crap, and talks just enough smack to be interesting. In other words, just my type. (If I wasn’t married, etc.)

Mackie, 30, starred in the Hurt Locker, which I have to admit I haven’t seen yet but I’ve heard he’s incredible. (I know, I know! It’s just hard for me to deal with war movies.) He’s also in The Adjustment Bureau, with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, which comes out in the US next March. (Which I find totally disappointing as I’ve heard so much about it that I expected it to be out this fall.) Mackie and Damon struck up a friendship on set, with Damon hilariously wearing a New Orleans Saints jersey on Letterman earlier this year after losing a bet to Mackie.

Here’s some of Details‘ interview with Mackie, who admits his frustration with Hollywood and says he took time off acting to rebuild a 19th century Victorian mansion he bought in his native New Orleans. He also very candidly says that movies suck because young actors aren’t getting a chance. I guess he’s a notable exception.

Details: Do you get recognized more often since the success of The Hurt Locker?
Anthony Mackie: You know, it’s funny. With all the movies I’ve done, I still get recognized from my episode of Law & Order more than anything else. It never fails. I always know when my episode comes on. I’ll walk out my door and someone will be like, “Hey! It’s the guy!” I’m like, “Law & Order, right?”

Details: Did you have a hunch that The Hurt Locker was going to win Best Picture?
Anthony Mackie: Nobody expected that. If anybody tells you they expected that, they’re a damn liar. Oscar night, I put all my money on Avatar. I was like, “Yay, we won! Goddamn, I lost all my money.”

Details: What can you tell us about The Adjustment Bureau?
Anthony Mackie: Matt Damon’s character is not supposed to meet Emily Blunt’s because she changes his future, and the Adjustment Bureau are the guys who try to put him back in his line of fate. I’m like a social worker, and Matt’s character is my client in the realm of fate.

Details: Sounds complicated. Is it going to be tougher than Inception?
Anthony Mackie: Right, like, “I’m in a dream, but not really, and there’s another dream . . . Oh, I need a drink.” Nah, this one’s pretty simple. We made it for guys just like you.

Details: You recently starred with Christopher Walken in a Broadway production of A Behanding in Spokane. Is he as weird as he seems?
Anthony Mackie: Not at all! When you meet him, he’s just a regular old dude. I was expecting him to come in being weird—standing on his head in the f’in’ corner of the room. For six months I waited on him to go crazy: “Come on, man! Do something!” And it never happened. I was very disappointed.

Details: Early in your career, you were Don Cheadle’s understudy in the play Topdog/Underdog but quit the show when Mos Def replaced him. Are you not a fan of rappers turned actors?
Anthony Mackie: I don’t go to a hospital and let the janitor perform surgery on me, you know what I mean? But if you look at what Ice Cube, LL Cool J, and Queen Latifah have been able to do, it’s ridiculous to say their talents should be disregarded because they started out in music. At the same time, you’d be hard-pressed to find a Sam Jackson these days, because young actors wouldn’t be given those roles now. The film business is destroying itself by not breeding talent or nurturing young actors—and that’s why all movies suck now.

Details: You got so frustrated a few years ago that you almost left the business altogether.
Anthony Mackie: I took a hiatus. I went back home to New Orleans and chilled out, enjoyed a few daiquiris, and built a house. I got a mask and some dirty old clothes and rebuilt an 1865 Victorian bed-and-breakfast. Sheetrock and plastering—that’s my thing. If the acting don’t work out, I’ll have a future in construction.

Details: What are you building next?
Anthony Mackie: I’m opening a bar in Brooklyn called NoBar, and it’s just a really cool, low-key place where you can have a good drink. I think a lot of bars in New York have lost a level of discretion. The music is so loud and there are so many people and the drinks are so expensive you can’t really enjoy yourself. Mine is going to have a late-1800s rustic French style—you know, before everything became slick and contemporary. Everything is wood and handmade, and there’s a beautiful walnut-and-mahogany pool table.

Details: So no Big Buck Hunter, eh?
Anthony Mackie: If you want to play Big Buck Hunter, just stay home with your girlfriend and chase her around the house.

[From Details, with more at the source]

He sounds awesome, so I looked up a few interviews with him and he’s just as confident and outspoken in video, of course. And his voice! Mackie has several films in production, including biopics of legendary New Orleans Jazz muscian Buddy Bolden and renowned athlete Jesse Owens. I expect to see a lot more of him in the future, and I’ll try not to swoon too hard.

Everyone become a fan of Anthony Mackie on Facebook! That’s his official page and he may even be the one posting. (Fan us too please if you get a chance!)

James Frain, True Blood’s crazy hot new vamp

wenn2580548

About 10 years ago I watched the very cheesy Natalie Portman film Where The Heart Is a couple of times (ok, I owned it) due to her dark and brooding co-star, British actor James Frain. His character reminded me of a guy I used to date in that they both were tall with angular features and had a sort of quiet depth. In hindsight I’m sure the guy I dated wasn’t all that thoughtful and was just depressed, but there was something about Frain that struck me as familiar and compelling. I remember consulting Frain’s IMDB page at the time and hoping for more leading roles for him, but I didn’t see him in much and he kind of dropped off the radar for me.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I was more than delighted to see Frain on True Blood as the conniving vampire Franklin Mott*. There’s a new spark in his eyes to go along with his scruff, and he’s hotter to me at 42. Frain may not be as buff as True Blood’s other fresh male meat, Joe Manganiello, but I know who I’d prefer to throw me down on the bed. (Although not necessarily tie me there in a wedding gown – as foreplay maybe.) A smoking hot body
only goes so far, but Frain has a kind of rock star attitude that makes him magnetic. Maybe I’m just confused by this guy’s superb acting ability, but I don’t care.

Frain has been married for the last six years to writer/director Marta Cunningham. I cannot find any information on whether they have children. Here are links to a fansite with a biography of Frain and a a Facebook page for fans.

Thanks to everyone who requested a gratuitous James Frain post. We’re more than happy to oblige.

*I haven’t watched The Tudors, where Frain starred as Thomas Cromwell. I’ll definitely rent the first season on your recommendations.

Below is a compilation of Frain’s scenes from True Blood so far. [via AboutJamesFrain.com] Its NSFW as there are F bombs. “Watch me type motherf*cker.” There are also spoilers for past episodes here. And here’s a link to an interview in which Frain discusses his character on True Blood. It also has potential (mild) spoilers.

NOTE BY KAISER: This dude is creepy as hell! Why do you find him hot? In obscure British stuff, he always plays the psycho killer. For good reason- he has serial killer eyes! Also: He looks deathly and corpsey.

Billy Elliott got hot, shirtless

eagleninthheader
Remember that cute little kid in the heartwarming British movie Billy Elliot from 2000? He got hot! Jaime Bell is all of 23 now so I don’t feel guilty drooling over this photo from an upcoming film that shows him hot, sweaty, shirtless and dirty in low-rider pants. It’s those lower abs that are doing it for me. (I’m not of the “any guy over 18″ mindset, I’m in my mid 30s so they have to be at least 21.)

In Eagle of the Ninth Bell stars as a second century slave to a Roman army leader played by Channing Tatum. Tatum’s character comes to Scotland to help his dad (Donald Sutherland) solve a mystery of a missing legion of troops. I’m sure the film will have plenty of hot guys fighting, but sadly only Bell, not Tatum, is shirtless in the stills now available.

The Eagle of the Ninth is set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Amongst all the drama, he meets and is accompanied by a British slave named Esca, who will be played by Bell, while Sutherland will come into the picture as Marcus’ uncle Aquila, who has retired in Britain.

I couldn’t find a trailer for this movie yet. Eagle of the Ninth is out sometime next year and has no specific release date listed on IMDB. Note to producers: there’s still more time to work in footage of shirtless guys.

Since starring as Billy Elliot, Jaime Bell has had roles in King Kong, Flags of Our Fathers, and Jumper. He’s shown below at the UK premiere of Defiance on 1/6/09 with Liev Schreiber and Daniel Craig.

Thanks to Huffington Post for the heads up!

Hugh Jackman’s awesome shirtless beach workout

fp_4195206_jackman_hugh_excl_trb_121209

Hugh Jackman was photographed shirtless and working out on a beach in Australia over the weekend. Why was he working out on the beach instead of in a gym? Seriously, who cares. It’s Wolverine! With no shirt on! Jackman appeared to be vacationing in St. Barth’s, taking in some swimming, boating and even some yoga.

In addition to rocking a pair of swimming trunks, Jackman just completed a very successful run on Broadway with “James Bond” star Daniel Craig in “A Steady Rain.” The play raked in more than $1.5 Million in charity donations for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a non-profit organization dedicated to AIDS/HIV research and social services for those infected with the disease. Both Jackman and Craig were directly involved in the fundraising efforts, donating signed memorabilia for auction, including the clothing they wore on stage. Because there are plenty of theatergoers who’d pay top dollar for a Jackman-sweat-soaked T-shirt.

Never, never, never underestimate the power of a famous, well-sculpted and motivated actor, times two.

Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig have been combining their stage savvy, film star dossiers and sex appeal on Broadway in Keith Huff’s drama, “A Steady Rain,” playing a pair of Chicago cops who are lifelong friends and raking in box office grosses of more than $1 million a week.

Now they have broken the record in an annual friendly competition among Broadway casts, in which each tries to outdo the others in raising money for the theater world’s top AIDS charity, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Making appeals after each performance from Oct. 23 to Dec. 6, Jackman and Craig raked in $1,549,953, shattering the past record of $612,000 that Jackman helped set in 2003 when he was making his Broadway debut in “The Boy From Oz.”

The duo worked hard for the money, says Tom Viola, executive director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which calls the competition “Gypsy of the Year” in honor of the unheralded chorus performers who make their living going from show to show.

Besides the customary curtain appeal to drop cash in collection buckets on people’s way out, Viola said, Jackman and Craig would sign and auction the T-shirts they’d worn under their costumes. That brought in $3,000 to $15,000 per night. As much as $20,000 per performance would come from playgoers who took up the stars’ offer to pose for photographs backstage with anyone willing to ante up $2,000.

“This is so huge, I can’t imagine how it could happen again,” Viola said. According to Playbill, at the Dec. 8 ceremonies for “Gypsy of the Year,” Jackman thanked all the donors who “we bullied, cajoled and slept with” to set the mark.

The Jackman-Craig tandem’s performance as super-schnorrers keyed a $4.6-million take overall that broke the old record of $3.9 million set in 2007.

The four runners-up, “Phantom of the Opera,” “Billy Elliot,” “Hair” and “Wicked,” raised $617,000 combined. On the road, where touring Broadway companies typically play in much larger houses, “Rent” led the way at $242,000 for the six weeks.

There’s probably something in it for Southern California: in 2009, according to the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS website, grants to AIDS charities in the region came to $245,000, led by $25,000 for Project Angel Food in L.A. and $20,000 each to L.A.’s Black AIDS Institute and Mama’s Kitchen in San Diego.

“Famous, well-sculpted and motivated.” Yup, those are three words that you could use to describe Mr. Jackman. The only thing that would make these photos better for me is if his stage co-star Daniel Craig decided to drop in for a workout as well. Enjoy!

Yummy couple Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are getting serious

Penelope Cruz has dated some of the most famous leading men in Hollywood, including Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey, but has somehow managed to escape settling down with any of them for too long. Now, sources say her under-the-radar romance with recent Oscar winning actor Javier Bardem is really heating up. The couple met while filming a Woody Allen movie together last summer. They were photographed back in October taking a romantic vacation together, and have been occasionally snapped by paparazzi walking together, but neither of them will comment on the relationship. Since Javier’s career exploded after his star-making performance in “No Country For Old Men,” the couple have had to work a lot harder to keep their relationship under wraps.

Penelope Cruz doesn’t want to publicly show off her relationship with Javier Bardem, but he’s showing her off to his family. Cruz, who was snapped with Bardem’s mom after the Oscars, threw a private party for her trophy-toting beau at Villa on Sunday night. Bardem’s family flew in from Spain to meet Cruz and partied with the couple – along with the Oscar-winning Coen brothers – at the West Hollywood hot spot. One onlooker told us, “He took Penelope for a spin on the dance floor in front of all his family. It’s getting pretty serious.”

[From Page Six]

Friends say Penelope is the one who is trying maintain privacy, after her previous relationships with Cruise and McConaughey were splashed across tabloids and ended so publicly. Penelope and Javier both attended the Oscars this year, but walked the red carpet separately- Javier told interviewers his date for the evening was his mom. The next day, photos emerged of Penelope and Javier trying to sneak away after the ceremony in the same car.

Penelope doesn’t have much of a long-term track record, but I am rooting for this couple. They are just gorgeous, and they both have that exotic flavor in common. I bet they’d have adorable babies.

Note by Celebitchy: Here’s Penelope Cruz out with Javier Bardem’s mom after the Oscars. When I saw these pictures I thought “Wait until she marries that guy, she’ll be fighting with his mom in no time.”

Hot Guys

The United Kingdom issue of Cosmopolitan magazine has issued a list of eleven eligible, desirable men.

Why eleven? And who are they?

1. Orlando Bloom –Actor from Pirates of the Caribbean.
2. Wentworth Miller – That guy from Prison Break.
3. Prince Harry – British prince, not the one who’s going to be king.
4. Prince William – The other British prince who will be king of England.
5. Jude Law – If you don’t know who Jude Law is, rent Alfie and Closer.
6. Lewis Hamilton – Formula one driver
7. Robbie Williams – British pop star. Very tattooed and sexy.
8. Jason Orange – Used to be in a band with Robbie Williams. Who picked him?
9. Alex Zane – English actor.
10. Sam Branson – Richard Branson’s son.
11. David Gandy – Model.

For your viewing pleasure, click here to check them out.

Orlando Bloom secured 21% of the vote, and I’m guessing a lot of it is based on his Prince Charming role as Will turner in Pirates of the Caribbean, and less for his role as a long haired elf in Lord of the Rings.

If only the real princes, William and Harry, could be as attractive as Orlando. Every time a poll comes out of Britain those two seem to feature highly, but I wouldn’t describe them as sexy at all. Then again, the Cosmopolitan survey was ranking them on desirability, and royalty is perhaps desirable. I’m a little unsure about the family as a package though.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Pictures via the OMG, Orlando Bloom is hoooooot! thread on the JJB board, which has over 110 pages of people agreeing that Bloom is indeed hoooooot and posting picture proof.
