Guess who got voted off DWTS (hint: man face & was replaced by a wrestler)

elisabetta1
Last night was the second week elimination for Dancing with The Stars, and the lackluster Elisabetta Canalis was voted off, despite tying for a respectable fourth in the judges’ scores this week. It looks like Elisabetta just didn’t have the name recognition, the compelling story, the likability or the rhythym to hang in there past the second week. Buh-bye to her. Sadly, David Arquette was in the bottom two after a goofy performance. I hope he brings it next week. Here’s more, from E!

Tonight, Dancing With the Stars said ciao to Elisabetta Canalis and partner, first year pro Val Chmerkovskiy. Canalis had struggled during her two weeks on the show, and when it came down to her and David Arquette on the chopping block, the viewers voted off the Italian beauty.

Unfortunately, Elisabetta and Val do not get to live to dance another week, as they got sent home tonight. “We had bad luck. It makes me sad. I’m sorry because Val was a great teacher. He didn’t deserve that,” she tells us sadly. “You can expect that from me because I’ve never been a dancer in my life, but he’s a champion.”

Her partner Val seemed equally upset over the outcome, more for her sake than his. “It’s not about me, it’s about her. It might sound a little cliché, but I’m not upset with me. I’m upset for her,” he says. “This is not my time to shine. This wasn’t my stage; this wasn’t my competition. I just wish she had another chance to shine.”

Elisabetta also filled us in on her post-DWTS plans, which sound pretty awesome to us. “I will gain weight for sure,” she laughs. “Of course I will not stop doing sports. Maybe I will take a little break from dancing. I’m a little bit sad now.”

[From E! Online]

Aw, her plans are to “gain weight,” meaning she has nothing on the table. Maybe she can do a photo op and plan a clothing line with Christian Audiger that will never materialize.

In related DWTS news, Nancy Grace claims her nip slip on Monday’s episode wasn’t a real nip and told TMZ that the object that was briefly shown on camera was a pasty or nip covering, not her actual nipple. She said “When I got dressed, I was wearing Petals (nipple covers) and an industrial strength bra … my dancing dress also had a bra sewn into it. I have been judged guilty without a trial … I will go to my grave denying the nip slip.” Oh Nancy, you judge people every night on your show, but when it comes to whether your boob popped out you can’t handle the fallout. It’s not like you’re accused of killing someone.

Nancy also denied the boob slip to E! and she went on about it even further, saying “That is not a nipple. That’s going to be on my gravestone. There was no nipple. I certainly don’t want my children to learn to read and read on the Internet that mommy’s a tramp and mommy flashed America! That did not happen. I deny, deny, deny it. You can’t break me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.” She’s trying to be funny, but she still can’t own up to it. Check out Nancy’s boob here, if that’s a pasty they’re making them look exactly like silicone nipples complete with parts that poke out.

Here are Elisabetta’s two performances on DWTS.

Nancy Grace slips a nip on DWTS, won’t someone think of the children?

nancygrace
Uncensored version is here

Update: Here’s the video. I’m so sorry I forgot it! The incident is at :30 in.

Nancy Grace showed Nicki Minaj level nip during last night’s appearance on DWTS. Her chest was so precariously stuffed into her dress that after her dip at the end of the dance the right one popped out. For about a second you could see half of her saucer sized areola (at :30 into the clip above). The camera panned to the audience to cover up for it, and then Nancy recovered and adjusted herself. Host Tom Bergeron laughed and said “That’s all right, on the European version that would be perfectly fine.” Only this isn’t the European version and won’t someone please think of the children? They’re already traumatized and confused by a transgender dude dancing who somehow has the agenda of “tearing down traditional families.” It’s not gratuitous violence we should be shielding them from, it’s boobs!

In terms of the other performances last night (spoiler warning if you’re waiting to watch) the high scorer was none other than Ricki Lake! JR Martinez and Kristin Cavallari were next. We shouldn’t count limp noodle Elisabetta Canalis out yet, she could be a contender after tying for fourth with Chynna Phillips. Chaz is hanging in there, but was affected by swollen knee joints and scored the lowest. E! Online has a great recap if you’re interested.

ABC is also putting all the dances online, on their official YouTube Channel, this season. It’s great that they’re doing this, but they do cut them right after the dance and before the judges comment. So on their “official version,” we weren’t treated to Nancy’s minor wardrobe malfunction.

Here are more clips.

Ricky Lake & Derek Hough: 23 points for the jive. This is so much fun, but I think JR Martinez’s dance was better.

J.R. Martinez & Karina Smirnoff: 22 points for the jive. He’s got serious moves

Kristin Cavallari & Mark Ballas: 22 points for the cha cha. Her Marilyn styling and this whole concept is so played out.

Chynna Phillips & Tony Dovolani: 21 points for the jive. She still bugs me.

Elisabetta Canalis & Val Chmerkovskiy: 21 points for the quick step. She improved but she really needs to be led around.

Chaz Bono & Lacey Schwimmer: 17 points for the quick step. Chaz will hang on a couple more weeks, then he’ll be off.

There are more videos on ABC’s YouTube Channel

Nancy Grace says Kody Brown of Sister Wives should go to jail

Aug. 11, 2010 - New York, New York, U.S. - TV personality NANCY GRACE promotes her new book 'Death On The D-List' held at Borders Book Columbus Circle at the Time Warner Center. © Red Carpet Pictures
From what little I know of Nancy Grace, she’s pushy and rude and is often inappropriate with guests. She’s surely opinionated, and sometimes she jumps to conclusions and is dead wrong. That’s what I think is the case here, where she’s lambasting Sister Wives star Kody Brown for having more than one wife and saying the guy should serve jail time. While I wouldn’t argue that polygamy should not be legal, I don’t think the Brown family should be prosecuted despite their high profile status. Here’s what Nancy Grace told OK! about the Browns. She says they’re breaking the law but that the state of Utah probably won’t do anything about it:

TLC’s hit reality show Sister Wives, which chronicles the lives of fundamentalist Mormon Kody Brown and his four wives – Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn – and 16 children in Utah has captivated audiences since it first aired. But by opening up their controversial lives to the world, the Browns have also made themselves suspect to legal charges and are currently under investigation for bigamy. Although the season finale aired last week, the drama is far from over.

To break down the legal issues with Sister Wives, OK! went to legal expert Nancy Grace. As the new host of the hit syndicated series Swift Justice With Nancy Grace, Nancy knows the law better than anyone on television. According to Nancy, if justice is served, Kody should be in jail.

Kody is legally only married to his first wife, Meri, but could he have a common law marriage because he lives with the other wives?
Utah does recognize common law marriage, but in this case bigamy trumps common law. He should go to jail.

How could being on the show be used against Kody and his family in court?
Video evidence is the best evidence. The cameras don’t lie. But forget what’s aired, there’s a mountain of unaired footage that will come into evidence too.

What could happen to the children?
If found guilty, the children could be removed. Historically with so many polygamous families in the state the children won’t be removed unless abuse is shown.

Could Kody or the wives go to jail?
The law is the law — bigamy is a 3rd degree felony in Utah. Those participating in the crime face a maximum of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. But most likely, Utah will turn a blind eye, as usual.

What would the courts need to prove?
That someone already married, purports to marry or co-habitate with another in addition to their spouse — or?? — If you know the other has a husband or wife and purport to marry or co-habitate with them, that’s also a crime.

What do you think will happen?
When you don’t know a horse, look at his track record. Even with the family taunting authorities on national TV, it’s unlikely Utah will prosecute although clearly, they should!

[From OK! Magazine]

Nancy is a lawyer, so she presumably understands the legal issues involved and I do appreciate how clearly she’s explaining this case. I hope she’s right on one count – that it’s not likely that Utah will prosecute this family. Yes this is technically illegal and yes countless women and children suffer needlessly under polygamy. That’s not the case for this family, where all of the wives entered into this arrangement willingly and all of them are presumably able to leave and maintain custody of their children. (We assume, although some sources say this isn’t the case.) I’m admittedly biased, though, because I watched the full season of Sister Wives and came away with a better understanding of this family and even some sympathy for them. Of course this isn’t a “typical” polygamist family, just like the Duggars aren’t a typical family of 20. Why go after them when all they’re doing wrong is living together? They offer their daughters educational opportunities and life choices. It hardly seems like they should be punished for daring to go public. On the other hand, I get why Utah doesn’t want to make it seem like polygamy is acceptable when it’s not a choice in so many cases.

Sister Wives star Kody Brown and the newest wife added to his family, Robyn Brown, were the center of attention signing autographs and taking photos with fans, as the couple shopped and scouted out the sales in the jewelry department of the mall in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 9, 2010. Will all this attention and gifts brew up a storm of jealousy amongst his other wives! Fame Pictures, Inc

Nancy Grace released from the hospital

jtm-0181171.jpg

Nancy Grace was released from the hospital yesterday after being admitted for complications from pulmonary edema. Grace gave birth to twins John David and Lucy Elizabeth on November 4th – two months early. After she was initially discharged from the hospital, Grace and her husband David Linch returned that night to visit the babies. While there she had severe shortness of breath and was examined by doctors, who said she was fine and sent her home. However her condition steadily declined until she could barely breathe by this past Sunday. She was admitted to the hospital, where an X-ray and CAT scan found some blood clots and fluid in her lungs. She was admitted to the hospital for monitoring and given medication.

Nancy Grace was released from the hospital on Thursday after checking in over the weekend due to complications from giving birth prematurely to twins on Nov. 4.

According to the CNN Headline News anchor’s rep, Grace’s condition is “much improved and she’s on the mend,” she tells PEOPLE.

Grace, 48, is currently at her Atlanta home with husband David Linch. The twins, John David and Lucy Elizabeth, remain under a doctor’s care. “‘Home’ is merely a word,” says Grace’s rep. “Nancy and David are spending all their time visiting the twins at the hospital.”

According to the rep, “Nancy hopes to bring the babies home for Thanksgiving. They have so much to be grateful for.”

[From People]

The twins are doing much better as well. John David weighed 5 lbs., 1 oz. at birth and Lucy Elizabeth weighed 2 lbs., 15 oz. Both of them are doing well and have put on weight. Linch told People that John David was initially being fed through a tube and is now being fed by a bottle. Lucy is nearly ready for bottles as well. “They’re out of the critical area and have stabilized pretty well.” Some have noted that perhaps pregnancy will soften Nancy Grace a bit. She’s sure had a rough initiation into motherhood, hopefully things will look up for her from here.

Semi-crazy Nancy Grace gives birth to twins early

jtm-018117.jpg

Nancy Grace, the “semi-crazy” angry diatribist on Headline News, gave birth to twins on Sunday. I say “semi-crazy” because I want to avoid being sued, not because I really think she’s only semi-crazy. Grace and husband David Linch welcomed a boy, John David, and a girl, Lucy Elizabeth. Nancy had developed a pulmonary edema during her pregnancy and had to be induced early. I have no idea if tyrannical rage can lead to a higher rate of pulmonary edema, but if so, I would have to say that she brought this on herself.

“Her physician determined it would be best for Nancy, and for the twins, to deliver them [on Sunday],” a rep for Grace said. “Lucy Elizabeth, John David, and their proud parents are now resting comfortably.” John David weighed 5 lbs., 1 oz. at birth, and Lucy Elizabeth weighed 2 lbs., 15 oz. according to the rep. Grace, 48, had been due to give birth in January, PEOPLE reported this summer.

“The babies are doing fine. Our little girl is doing just as well as her brother despite her weight – and mom is doing great,” Linch tells PEOPLE. Pulmonary edema involves swelling and/or fluid accumulation in the lungs. No further details were given about Grace’s condition, or that of the twins, on Monday. Grace and Linch, an investment banker in Atlanta, married in April. According to Grace’s rep, John David is named for his father and John the Revelator. Lucy Elizabeth is named after Grace’s mother Elizabeth and grandmother Lucy.

Last month Grace was feted at a baby shower in Manhattan hosted by good pal and former Court TV colleague Diane Dimond. Linch and a host of pals, including Kimberly Guilfoyle and Lisa Bloom, attended and brought gifts such as a pair of his and hers cowboy booties for the twins to match mom’s signature pair.

[From People]

Nothing classier than his and her cowboy boots. A nearly three pound baby is pretty tiny. Hopefully she’s doing okay. I have twin uncles who were born in the early fifties that weighed 1 pound each and were never expected to live. The nurses kept them alive by flicking their feet to keep their hearts beating. One would think that with all the neonatal technology these days, Lucy will be fine. Now growing up with a rageaholic mother might do a number on her, but physically she’ll probably be as healthy as the next kid. Yes I know Nancy Grace has good reason to be mad: her fiancé was murdered when she was 19 and she’s been a longtime crusader for victim’s rights. I applaud all of that. But just because I admire her tenacity doesn’t mean I don’t find her annoying as all get out. There’s a 50/50 chance that if she ever catches one of the twins egging someone’s house she’ll arrest them, prosecute them, and throw away the key before bedtime hits. Good luck kids.
