Tony Romo welcomes a son, meanwhile Jessica Simpson is still preggo

Funny story: I was looking through our archives to see if I had written about Tony Romo and Candice Crawford’s pregnancy announcement, and when I found the story, I discovered that I had paired it with the fact that Jessica Simpson had – at that point – yet to confirm her pregnancy. Romo and Crawford announced they were expecting a kid on October 25 while Jessica was still playing “hide the obvious bump” with the press. And now Candice has given birth, and poor Jessica is still pregnant, and she probably will be for another month.

The newest Dallas Cowboy has arrived! Tony Romo and Candice Crawford welcomed son Hawkins Crawford Romo on Monday, April 9, Cowboys spokesperson Rich Dalrymple confirms.

“Hawkins Crawford Romo is now a part of the Dallas Cowboys family,” the rep said in a statement.

“He came into this world on 4/9/12 at 5:30 p.m., 8 lbs. and 8 oz. All is well with mom.”

The Cowboys quarterback, 31, and Crawford, 25, were married in May 2011 and announced the pregnancy in October.

Her elder brother, Gossip Girl star Chace, told PEOPLE he planned to be “the best uncle” to their baby boy.

Thoughts on “Hawkins Crawford Romo”? You know they’ll call him Hawk Romo. Which… isn’t good. But Hawkins Romo is worse. Anyway, congrats to the happy couple. I no longer find Romo interesting in the least, but I do think it’s fascinating that so many of these guys end up with girls who all look alike. No disrespect to Candice Crawford, but she looks like every other Texas blonde. At least Jessica stood out from a crowd. Because the crowd moved away from her while she was gassing everyone with her farts.

So, getting back to Jessica, did you hear about the “joke” she made at her own expense? Jessica hasn’t issued any public statements about all of the “she’s fat” comments, but a few days ago, Jessica tweeted: “Last chance to see me ‘fat’ aka PREGNANT on the cover of Elle. I loved this shoot, [and it’s] only on stands for a few more days!” See… that makes me like her. Poor Jess.

    That’s a big boy 8 pounds

  2. some bitch says:

It’s unbelievable that people are calling Jessica fat because she’s pregnant. Seriously? If there’s ONE TIME in a woman’s life when she needs body fat and energy to nourish herself and her baby…

That being said, I really do think she looks absolutely gorgeous. Her hair makes me so envious.

  3. Jessica says:

I agree with Some Bitch. My first born was 10 pounds 12 ounces and I gained a LOT during that pregnancy. I am 5ft 10in and before pregnancy weighed around 145 pounds. My son was 1 week late and I weighed 298 pounds the day I gave birth.. God Bless Jessica Simpson and that little bundle of joy!!! : )

    • Franny says:

I hope that was a mistype, because…you gained 150 lbs?

Makes me never want to get pregnant. Its hard enough to lose weight without ever carrying a child!

      • Jessica says:

No Franny – not a mistype. It was my first pregnancy, I looked horrible. I retained so much water I could bearly walk, but I did not have the gestational diabetes. Everything was okay. With my daughter, I was around 155 pounds and was 245 when I gave birth to her. She was a week early and weighed 9 pounds 14 ounces. I have since gone back down to 145 pounds. At 35 years old, I am done having kids and found that keeping this weight off is soooo tough!! : )
It all depends on how your body reacts to the pregnancy hormones.

      • anne says:

        I agree – that’s ridiculous. I gained exactly 29 lbs with each of mine – 8.8 and 7.8 respectively.

      • Jessica says:

        Well everyone is different!

      • Isa says:

Woa, you gained a whole nother person! I bet you were miserable. Poor thing!
I gained 34-38 lbs with both of my babies. My first was 7 lbs 4 oz and my second was 9 lbs 6 ozs.

    • Samigirl says:

Bless your heart, sister, that DOES sound like a rough pregnancy! I gained 50 pounds with my first, and the little stinker only weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces. I’ve gained 13 so far with little miss, ( I’ve got gestational diabetes) and she’s already 6 pounds (u/s aren’t always exact though), and I still have 5 weeks to go!

  4. brin says:

LOL!!Poor Jess is right…seems like she’s been preggo forever!
No offense to the Romos, but Hawkins is an awful name! (imo)

  5. Agnes says:

holy crap, how is poor jessica STILL pregnant? hahaha

  6. lower-case deb says:

i like jessica’s fuller face. makes her look more radiant. or is it just pregnancy-induced radiance?

  7. Zelda says:

Hawkins Cheezies are by far one of the most delicious things in the world.

In my mind, that baby’s name, much like my hangovers, will forever be associated with this fine “food” product.

So…if I ever meet him, I’m calling him “Cheezie.” I will not be able to help myself.

  8. Hautie says:

Has anyone seen Jessica out in the last week? I bet she is close to delivery. Or I hope so!

What is worse… is I saw Candice on a local news channel. Maybe 2 weeks ago. And she was tiny. I seriously thought she was all of 6 months pregnant.

So that 8 pound baby shocks me.

I bet she walked out of the hospital, in her pre-pregnancy jeans.

    • Lee says:

I hate to drag out the pregnancy stories, but here goes: lots of weight gain does not mean lots of baby! I gained 18 pounds with my first, and didn’t look pregnant till near the end, and he weighed 9lbs 13 oz. And yes I was in regular jeans on the way out. Next two babies sure showed up in bigger bumps though! Gained 25lbs, and looked pregnant much, much earlier. I worry about Jessica’s next baby bumps!

      • Franny says:

My mom gained 20 lbs with each of us (4 total). My sister and I were born in Germany, while my younger siblings were born here in Wisconsin. The doctors here told my mom, while she was like 8 months pregnant with each of them, that there has to be something wrong with the baby because she only gained 20 lbs total…turns out, they are so used to seeing women gain like 70+ lbs, that a person only gaining a bit is abnormal.

Hopefully that’s how my pregnancies go. My mom also tells me all the time “I used to be your size…then I had 4 kids and got skinny”. Nice, right? Not that either of us are huge, just waiting for the baby fat to drop haha.

    • jelynn says:

Yeah my mom gained 12 with me and I was nearly 7 pounds. She weighed 128 before she delivered. Everyone’s different.

  9. Jenna says:

Hawkins? Eh….I supposed it could’ve been worse? Oh well.

  10. Kathy says:

Wow, compare Romo’s nose in the first pic above to this pic from Dlisted yesterday: http://dlisted.com/2012/04/10/and-yet-jessica-simpson-still-pregnant

That’s one heck of a nose job.

And yeah, that was the first thing I noticed about this story. 🙂

  11. Lilly says:

Okay, I know we have all been debating whether Jess is having a healthy pregnancy or not recently. And the whole fat issue….I think this puts things in perspective.Kim Snyder is a celebrity nutriotionist and Fergie and Drew Barrymore are two of her clients. She has this to say about pregnancy diet and nutrition.

    Hope it helps:

  12. fabgrrl says:

I’m sure that it has been fun for Jess to be able to eat whatever she wants and gain a lot of weight. But I wonder if she is doing it for attention as well? like to be the “most pregnant” one? Last year, her ex-husband got married, and the guy who very publicly dumped her knocks up his wife BEFORE Jess was even engaged. So, maybe, she wants to be the PREGNANT ONE by being so incredibly, visibly pregnant, even though she wasn’t as far along as Crawford? Just speculating.

  13. Isa says:

I think Hawkins is a horrible name. It sounds like one that should only be a last name. I think Candice is really pretty.
I was wondering if Jessica was still pregnant. This is taking forever!

  14. BRE says:

OK, found a pic of them with the new baby. First off, did Candice put on makeup?, 2nd, the look on that baby’s face is priceless!

    • Jaye says:

He has that “What the hell just happened” look on his face that most newborns have right after birth. He’s cute, though.

  15. the original bellaluna says:

I am sick to death of the whole “she gained THIS much; she’s unhealthy” and the “she didn’t gain enough; she’s unhealthy” BS going on with pregnant women right now.

I gained 72 lbs with my first and lost 46 before I was discharged from the hospital.

With the last two, I broke even: I was so sick I lost a lot of weight, and what I gained put me at the same weight (at delivery) that I was when I got pregnant.

    EVERYBODY’S DIFFERENT.

    • Jaye says:

I had a similar experience w/my son. I gained 46 pounds and lost about 20 before I left the hospital. By the time my son was a month old, I was back at my pre-preg weight.

  16. Sugar says:

I craved sub sandwiches w/Italian dressing w/my 1st 8 lb 3 oz bouncing baby boy & I craved tacos w/my 2nd 7 lb 2 oz beautiful baby girl. yup every pregnancy is different.

  17. Original Lucy says:

The reason Jessica has gained so much weight is because SHE HAS BEEN PREGNANT FOR TWO YEARS!

  18. sandy says:

The longest pregnancy in history! I swear she’s been pregnant since like 2 years ago. Nevertheless, I wish her well but geez, seems like forever.
