Meghan Trainor is planning a ‘chill’ small backyard BBQ wedding

Oh, to be young and in love. Singer Meghan Trainor and Spy Kids star Daryl Sabara got engaged back in December and the 24-year-old discussed her wedding plans at the iHeart Radio Wango Tango concert in LA on Saturday. Even though her co-stars on the reality competition The Four, DJ Khaled and Diddy, volunteered to perform for her big day (because sure they meant that), Meghan is going for a more relaxed celebration.

The singer told Entertainment Tonight that, as far as her big day goes, “I think I’m just gonna be casual. I think I’m just gonna do it in my backyard. I’ve got a great yard and my manager, like, legally can marry people.” She went on to elaborate, “I just might have my best friend do it and we might just chill and have like a barbecue. I don’t know!” I think a barbecue would be so much fun, but I’ve walked down the aisle twice already. It certainly would be a much less stressful event.

Meghan seems to have been focusing on more then her nuptials over the past few months. Back in May, she told ET that she’s stopped drinking, eats healthier and, as a result, has dropped 20 pounds. She credits her fiancé for helping her get back on track, gushing that, “He really changed my life. He showed me how working out can be fun. I didn’t believe it, but now it’s true and it feels so good when you’re sore — I love that feeling now.” Daryl not only plays personal trainer, he’s also quite the chef. As Meghan shared, “He cooks for me and taught me to cook. He taught me, like, secrets how to make your food taste great but also be healthy for you.”

Meghan remains focused on her career, working on her third studio album and returning to The Four for its second season, which debuts on June 7, despite confessing that she’s got “crazy baby fever.” She explained that, “My mom had babies at my age, so I think it’s just in my blood.” However she assured her fans that “I’m gonna take my time, I’m gonna do this career.”

On Monday, Meghan released the video for the third single on her upcoming album, “Let You Be Right.” In a recent interview with Glamour, she promised the new album will reflect the positivity in her life, telling the magazine, “I’m very in love, so you’ll hear these beautiful love songs, happy songs, and honest songs.”

As far as the inspiration for the new song, she revealed, “I wanted to talk about my relationship with Daryl [in the song] and a cute thing we do. What I taught him early on was, you know, I’m always right. I really am. Daryl learned that early on, so any little fight we have he knows it ends with me being right. I wanted to put that in a song.” Is that cute? I’m old, so I think if I sang that song, it would come off really sarcastic, but I guess it works for her.

The new song is pretty catchy, as are most of her songs (except “All About that Bass”. I really don’t like that one). Besides, I can’t begrudge anyone who gets to kick it with Shangela from RuPaul’s Drag Race. (And, yes, I’m jealous.)

Date night with my everything @darylsabara 😍 #ifeelpretty

She’s walked down the aisle twice already? Is that true or was it a joke? Wasn’t sure because it said she was only 24..

    • LT says:

No, Corey from Celebitchy who wrote this piece has been married twice, not Meghan Trainor.

      • Kimma1216 says:

Oh!! Got it! Either way it wasn’t a big deal but thanks for the clarification! Thank you..it’s still too early over here for me 😉

      • Snazzy says:

haha no worries. I’m just partially lucid because it’s afternoon here! Have a great day!

Edit: Sorry, I was sure I responded to this too, but I don’t see my response and instead I’m taking credit for LT’s comment. LOL Maybe I’m not as lucid as I thought

    Hum.

    • ennuisha says:

lol. This was exactly my reaction.

(And because I am a skeptic with a dark soul, I also thought: they’ll be divorced eventually.)

  3. MCV says:

Married at 24. What can go wrong?

    • paranormalgirl says:

The same things that can go wrong when you marry at 34… or 44.

    • Mer Darling says:

      Lolol!

    • Erinn says:

It’s good to know that people are so open to those who choose a different life than they did.

I got married a couple months after turning 24. Married the guy I have been with since I was 14. My relationship has so far survived longer than MANY marriages, has gone through a couple long-distance stints, and dealt/deals with chronic illness.

But I mean, sure. Age is the only thing that dictates whether a partnership will be successful.

      • PrincessMe says:

Same here – we don’t all want the same things at a particular age, and that’s fine. I got married at 23 – we were together since I was 16 – and while it’s only been 8 years, we’ve made a family and we’re growing together so far. Could it go to shit in the future? Yeah, it’s possible. But you’re not suddenly “immune” from divorce after a certain age or doomed to fail if you’re young.

  4. Nibbi says:

so she was ‘all about that bass’ meaning having booty and curves, until she isn’t, bc now a big enough pop star and found a guy and had been sooo unhealthy w her old habits,, right.
    call me cynical

  5. Honest B says:

Working out sucks, who is she kidding?

  6. ennuisha says:

    2030 Predictions:

    1) He’ll be expecting his first kid with Adam Rippon; and
    2) She’ll be starting her Vegas residency.

  7. Zondie says:

What is that belt she is wearing in the photo of the pink pantsuit? It looks like the measuring tape you get at the hardware store. Is it a statement?

  8. Deanne says:

Getting married at 24 certainly doesn’t doom a relationship to failure by any means, but she’s been talking obsessively about getting engaged and her future husband for years. I think she would have yes to anybody who asked her. That could prove to be a problem in the long run.

  9. beatrixkiddo says:

Looks-wise: They could be brother and sister.

    • me says:

You know what’s weird…I see a lot of couples who look like brother and sister.

  10. Winnie Cooper's Mom says:

She seems to not know who she is. That’s fine/understandable at 24. But her constant “re-invention” of her look is grating. I guess it comes with the territory of being a pop diva. But that short blonde hair is not working for her. js

  11. cd3 says:

In that burgundy outfit, she looks like Sopranos-era Edie Falco!

  12. Lynnie says:

She looks like a bigger Paris Hilton in the pic where she’s showing off the ring that’s all I’ve got

    • Rachel in August says:

I’ve never, like, heard of her. Like, who is she? Like, it sounds like her head is full of, like air. Like, that’s all I got.

  13. jferber says:

I love her voice and songs. She should be a major singing star with her crazy talent. Always wish her the best.
