Jennifer Aniston’s trainer: ‘She’s a very good, natural athlete’

Kaiser covered Jennifer Aniston’s lengthy interview in the September issue of InStyle and how the 49-year-old actress has taken up boxing to stay in tip-top shape. She admitted “It’s the longest workout I’ve actually stayed with consistently other than yoga. There’s something about the mental aspect of boxing — the drills, your brain has to work, you’re not just sitting on a bike. It’s amazing.” Jennifer is currently in Italy working on a film with Adam Sandler. (WHY, JEN, WHY?)

At home Jennifer trains with Leyon Azubuike, an “ex-sparring partner to a world heavyweight champ” and the co-owner of LA’s Gloveworks fitness facility. After the story was published, and Leyon discovered his client believed he “hung the moon,” he posted a photo to Instagram, holding the magazine. In his caption, he calls Jennifer “one of the most AMAZING human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure to have in my life” and “the hardest working, beautiful, vigorous, most extraordinary person.” Wow. If you interviewed my former personal trainer, he’d say “Well, she’s not a complete wuss. She only cries in the last 10 minutes of our sessions.”

Leyon, who also trains Jennifer Love Hewitt, says that working with the former Friends star has been a “great experience.” He went on to praise her, noting:

“She’s very diligent. She is ready to work out hard, every single time she hits the gym. Whether it be a 45-minute session, whether it be a 2-hour session, she’s always ready to go. Incredibly consistent and hardworking, and that makes my job a little bit easier. She’s a very good, natural athlete.”

Throughout the course of my career, I’ve had the pleasure to wake up every day and do something I love with people I care about, people who share that same passion, energy, and infectious positivity for the task at hand, and to see those same characteristics transcend just the physical part of the exercise. This right here, this is very very special to me, being that it comes from one of the most AMAZING human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure to have in my life 😀. So to the hardest working, beautiful, vigorous, most extraordinary person- way to absolutely CRUSH this🙌🏿. Pick up your @instylemagazine September fashion issue on the stands now! I’m proud of you Jen, and forever proud to be your coach 🙏🏿 . . . #JenniferAniston #Gloveworx #Fitness @underarmour @gloveworx @goodmorningamerica

Since most of us probably couldn’t afford working with Leyon, he shared that his workouts are based in strength conditioning, utilizing resistance bands and light weights paired with work in the ring using glove. Sounds Google-able. I’m no natural athlete, but this sounds like a workout I could probably get behind, especially because of the “mental release” that boxing provides. And, if I could look just a tiny bit like Jennifer as a result, I’m in.

Bwahahaha he knows which side his bread is buttered on and he’s capitalizing on the free marketing! But she’s not a natural athlete, I don’t ever see her papped doing the slightest bit of physical activity. She’s a genetically-blessed lady of leisure that likes doing yoga and tanning.

I don’t know, she strikes me as pretty athletic. I think a yoga background is a better starting point for the workouts she’s doing now than a lot of activities. Strength and flexibility and balance.

He seems really sweet and I like the sound of her workouts, except the boxing part. Not my thing at all.

    • perplexed says:

Her arms don’t jiggle. I think she works out a fair amount. Usually the way the skin jumps will tell you what kind of activities a person is doing, regardless of how physically beautiful they are (i.e Elizabeth Taylor — very beautiful, but I don’t think she exercised much).

    • Jaded says:

She’s a dedicated yoga aficionado which takes an incredible amount of strength – I’ve taken it up in the past year and it’s a good thing I already do regular weight and cardio workouts because I am sweating at the end of an hour of yoga. It also requires discipline because you have to retrain your body to hold difficult poses a certain way and change poses without falling over. Balance, strength and flexibility are all required to do it properly. As for being a lady of leisure? Whaaaat? She is an actor, director, philanthropist, she buys and redesigns homes, she isn’t just sitting around sipping champagne and eating bon-bons with her dog. Just because you don’t see her showing off like a Kardashian doesn’t mean she isn’t doing the work.

“I don’t ever see her papped doing the slightest bit of physical activity.”

perhaps because she works out at a gym where paps (or any photography) are not allowed? or maybe in the privacy of her own home?

while a lot of people live their lives very publicly these days via social media, just because we don’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Say what you will about Aniston, she doesn’t seem as if she has an athletic bone in her body.

I can say without a doubt Jennifer Garner could kick Aniston’s butt with both hands tied behind her, never breaking a sweat, and look better while doing it.

      • Flipper says:

        You are wrong

      • perplexed says:

She’s 49 and she has no jiggly flab. I’m pretty sure she works out. If she doesn’t, then she is the most genetically blessed 49 year old of all time. Even the most beautiful 49 year old will have flab jiggling if they don’t do physical activity.

      • Flipper says:

I am not and your respond is pretty lame.

    • ms says:

I know she’s a runner. She literally ran into one of my college classmates, knocked all her papers all over the ground, and kept going without so much as an apology.

  2. Loopy says:

I think she like Madonna and Victoria Beckham are just incredibly disciplined. You can tell from pictures of all of them when they started or before they were famous. Their bodies have completely been resculptured due to diet or exercise.

  3. Pandy says:

She has a great body – of course she works out for it! Boxing is great. She’s right that your mind is just cleaned out after a session.

  4. ike says:

She works really hard at staying fit, but from most of the movies I’ve seen with her in it, she should work a little harder on her acting skills. IMO

  5. Weekendwarrior says:

She looks fit to me but she doesn’t go overboard (like Madonna). I think she has a specific look (toned, not ripped) she’s after. I’d believe she’s naturally athletic. I only do brisk walking and light weights and I fast just about every day so I don’t have to do the heavy workouts to maintain weight.
