Rebel Wilson told different versions of why she needed to be ‘rescued’ while skiing

Rebel Wilson is a comedian and so she takes artistic license with her stories, like a lot of us do. However she told slightly different stories to Ellen and Jimmy Fallon about being helped down the mountain while skiing in Aspen. Given her history of being called out for things she says, it was questionable. Maybe she was just being more self deprecating on Ellen. In the version she told on The Tonight Show, she fell coming off the ski lift and had to be helped down by ski patrol on the sled. She said her foot was numb from the boot and implied she was hurt. On Ellen she said she fell, but she showed a photo standing at the top and said that she got up again and just didn’t want to ski down. Rebel is promoting her movie Isn’t It Romantic, a romcom parody which opened today.

Fallon: You’ve never skied before?
I have but I forgot. I just kind of collapsed on the slopes. It was the ski boot it was too tight. I probably would have been an excellent skier if it wasn’t for those boots. I went up all the chairlift and I came down that far [makes inch sign with hands] and I had to get rescued. As soon as I came off the chair lift I fell. The ski patrol came with this sled. It was a bit of metal with a plastic tarp. They said you go in that and we’re going to go over this cliff because we need enough speed to get to the bottom. It was pretty embarrassing. I may have wee’d a little bit, it was scary.

Ellen: Last year was the year of fun, is that right?
I just did so much fun stuff like jet skiing, helicoptering… I went skiing at the end of the year. Look how picturesque it looks. [shows photo above]. That was at the top of the chairlift that photo. Then they said ‘now you have to go down the hill.’ I was like ‘can I just get the chairlift back?’ I was with my ski instructor. I did fall off the chairlift, but then I brushed myself off for the photo. Then I had a ski instructor, piglet, who went with us. She’s like ‘ok, so you’ve just got to ski down now.’ I’m like ‘oh, I don’t know.’ I skiied for about 100 feet. What happened is then I had to get medically rescued.

There was nothing wrong with you?
Not technically, it was more just a vibe that I didn’t want to ski down the massive hill. This lovely gentleman came and rescued me in a sled.

It’s a little funnier if she just decided she didn’t want to ski down, I guess I understand that. After that she said she went to a club in Aspen with Mariah Carey and that they almost didn’t get in because Mariah refused to hand over her coat, as per policy. Mariah did give up her coat and they went dancing though. Rebel is not my favorite person for several reasons and I probably won’t see this movie in theaters. I’ll watch it if it comes to Netflix or Hulu though. It’s nice that we’re getting a larger woman lead in a romcom but I wish it wasn’t Rebel. They can put Danielle Macdonald in all the movies.

Her premiere dress was so pretty! (More photos here.)

She really is a naturally pretty woman and she looks like a dream in that red dress.

  2. Tiffany says:

Wow, I just can’t with this woman.

I mean, I don’t really think about her all that much but when she is around she just sucks the air out of me.

  3. Ebi pickles says:

Rebel Wilson is funny and smart. She’s a lawyer who makes sure she owns the rights to any character she plays.

  4. Esmom says:

As someone who grew up in the midwest I can attest that the prospect of skiing down an actual mountain is scary af. I got through it by going as slowly as possible and trying to keep my center of gravity low. I was prepared to slide down on my butt if necessary but somehow I managed to get down while staying generally upright.

I’ve only seen her in the three Pitch Perfect movies. I don’t enjoy her acting and I find her jokes to be almost exclusively scatological or sexually based and more disgusting than funny. It will be interesting to see how this movie does.

    Beautiful dress!

She was fantastic in Bridesmaids. And then, she took on the “funny fat girl” role, even calling herself Fat Amy in those movies. I was embarrassed for her in Pitch Perfect 2 (never saw 3) and that one movie about being single, with Dakota Fanning. She needs to go AWAY.

  8. Kyle says:

She really should be wearing a helmet when she’s skiing. Everyone should.

  9. clairej says:

I cannot believe they keep making Pitch Perfect movies. The 2nd was unbearable

I hate reading about her. I love her, but I get the impression that she kind of sucks as a human being. What is her glitch?! One of these days she’s gonna ruin her life by talking.
