Countess Kate cosplayed Diana & the Scottish flag at the same time in Scotland

kate scotland 5242

The Duchess of Cambridge – or rather, the Countess of Strathearn – finally arrived in Scotland for a few hours of work on Monday. I had been excited to see what new tartan theme-dressing we would get from Kate, because chica loves to theme dress. But it’s May, so I guess she didn’t feel like wearing some heavy, woolen tartan in honor of one of the only things she knows about Scotland (“they wear tartan and eat haggis”). Instead, Countess Kate decided to theme-dress in another way: as the Scottish flag, which is a field of blue with a white “X.” Kate chose that exact shade of blue of the Scottish flag. And buttons. Lots of shiny gold buttons, and a gold clutch to draw attention to the magnificent buttons.

Kate’s blazer is from Zara and it retails for about £60. She paired it with a pleated skirt (perhaps a reference to a kilt) from Hope Fashion. The only (?) Scottish thing with her ensemble was the pair of earrings from Hamilton & Inches. The earrings retail for £1,395. The Daily Mail refers to all of this as Kate “signature flair for diplomatic dressing.” I mean… she cosplays national flags? She did that in Ireland too. Is it really diplomatic dressing if you have a childlike desire to wear “flag colors”? Besides all of that, she looks like she borrowed Gillian Anderson’s Maggie Thatcher costumes from The Crown. It turns out that she was actually just cosplaying Diana, as always.

As for the events – they visited Turning Point Scotland and they had some kind of event at the Palace of Holyroodhouse where they sort-of prepared meals to be distributed to vulnerable families across Edinburgh. Kate’s mask disappeared for a moment when they were indoors and talking to people, which is weird because we still don’t know if she’s been vaccinated??

Okay so that answers my question – I was wondering when I saw these pics yesterday if the blazer and pleated skirt were part of a set or were separates. So separates then. Mild kudos to her for finding items from different brands that are basically the exact color?

Are blazers and pleated skirts back, paired together like this? Please tell me no. I’ve seen those skirts paired with basic tops and then an open blazer or jacket and that look can work IMO, but this look….not really.

    • Elvie says:

Exactly right Becks. The skirt should be paired with a very casual top or jumper. I also HATE the shoes… they look worn and dirty and the colour doesn’t flatter the overwhelming blue. How does she still not know how to dress herself?!

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ Elvia, WTH is on her feet? Are those be to considered shoes, as they look like her house slippers!!

Again, Keen Doucheness cannot save her live for being original, she has to copy someone, anyone, as she has zero ability to do anything on her own!!
BTW, the heading for their own IG is insulting to everyone and anyone with a 2 brain cells!

      • Myjobistoprincess says:

She picks her own outfits – we should be praising her. my 4th grade teche rused to dress like that: accessories the same color and the outfit in another. There’s never any edge, any oupmf to the outfit, no surprise pairing, it’s always “blah – this is what she wore”. It’s fashion, but boring fashion. Can we put some life in her fashion please someone!!!!!! But the video was funny.

      • Mina_Esq says:

I think the shoes may be Stuart Weitzman’s Anny pump in brown suede because i have the same pair, and they look beautiful in person!

      • terra says:

        @BothSidesNow

Slighty off-topic, but I have a feeling that I’m going to be referring to these two as the Douche and Douchess of Cambridge for quite some time. I’m not even sure I want that, but I can tell I don’t have much choice. My brain is just gonna make it happen whether I like it or not.

Congrats on a pun I can’t believe I haven’t read before. It was staring me right in the face this whole time, but it took you to bring it to me.

    • Cecilia says:

I feel like both items could work as separates but not together like this.

    • SarahCS says:

Only if you desperately want to copy your deceased MIL. Hopefully the rest of us mere mortals don’t need to do this.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Not that I know of but as others are saying, she does love to cosplay Diana when not cosplaying Meghan.

      • Myjobistoprincess says:

Not just Diana and Meghan, I remember her as clown and as a rodeo cowgirl too in canada

    • MMadison says:

So LAZY and without an ounce of creativity. BORING

    • PEARL GREY says:

The outfit is ageing, so it’s very on-brand for Kate the Kosplayer. The predictable theme dressing (or “diplomatic dressing”) and the fawning praise for it says a lot about Kate and how the press prop her up over the most basic of things, usually something superficial. It’s not hard to wear an outfit that has the colour of a country’s flag or emblem, but the papers act like Scotland will choose to stay in the UK just on the power of Kate wearing blue. All it shows is that after 10 years, she still doesn’t have much to say or offer on these trips, so all conversation ends up revolving around how her clothing is a “clever nod” to this or that. There’s rarely anything else to discuss.

    • swirlmamad says:

I like the color — love a good, bright royal (ahem) blue, so I’ll give her that. But the outfit overall is so aging and drags her down. She’s 30-freaking-9. Stop dressing like you’re about to cash Social Security checks (or whatever the equivalent is in the UK).

      • BothSidesNow says:

I have always called it an eclectic blue, that’s what we called it in my day.

But the fact that her mask is TOO MF small and Baldimort of not Keen bush keeping, just received his vaccination and he has 2 weeks to still be considered unvaccinated. So the fact that they are NOT wearing masks is insulting and degrading to everyone present.

      • Trillion says:

dressing old constitutes BRF “style”. Diana is touted for her style, which I really don’t understand except that when you’re tall and thin (and famous), what you wear is confused with style.

    • Harper says:

I’d be so depressed wearing that loud blue. It’s not pretty. They also have a new “voice” on their Instagram captions. It feels so much more in your face. As if William is speaking directly to us with his terribly rude, terribly self-indulgent sense of humor.

      • MF1 says:

What’s wrong with a loud blue? I really like this color. The only problem here is that Kate doesn’t have the energy or personality to pull off a strong color.

      • Harper says:

@MF1. What’s wrong with a loud blue? There are hundreds of variations of blue, a color which I love and wear a lot. I personally don’t like that color for clothing. I am really happy for you that you like the color, and I hope you get a chance to wear it as often as you can.

    • Amelia says:

Have you seen what she’s wearing today? 😂😂😂

    • Midge says:

Um, she didn’t find anything. Her people did.

      • JP says:

Yeah- she isn’t cosplaying Diana, her wardrobe team is. Do we really think she is putting in the time to research old outfits and purchase modern day dupes? At best, maybe she has given the direction to find something that looks like what the Princess of Wales wore.

      • Becks1 says:

Of course its her wardrobe team but I 100% believe that she directs them to find her outfits that copy Diana’s. It’s happened too many times and it’s too obvious – if she thought it was strange that her team is finding her outfits that mimic her dead mother in law, she would have told them to find something else at this point. She loves it when the press brings up the comparisons.

      • Sofia says:

But Kate is ultimately the boss of her stylists and if they pick something out that Kate doesn’t like or suggest an outfit she doesn’t like, I’m sure she can say “no, find me something else”

      • Kalana says:

Lol. Kate has no agency. Her team works for themselves and Kate is their ignorant puppet.

Bold defense, guys! Let’s go with it.

And yes, I absolutely believe Kate has plenty of time to look up pictures of her dead MIL and try to copy her outfits. She even dressed up George and Louis in dupes of old outfits.

      • Amy Too says:

I absolutely believe that one of the only aspects of her royal job that Kate is actually involved with is her clothing: planning it, buying it, picking out what to wear. I think she has a scrapbook (maybe just a bunch of photos saved to her phone or bookmarked online) full of Diana outfits, and Meghan outfits, and probably Rose and Jecca outfits that she uses for “inspiration” (cough, copying directly). I think she probably spends a lot of her time shopping—probably online. It’s very easy to get addicted to online shopping especially when you can “justify” your purchases with “oh I have a tour coming up/I have this event to dress for/my job is to looks good in nice clothes.” Plus she doesn’t have anything else to do in her life and she has zero spending limits. We’ve heard that she likes to watch beauty videos on YouTube. I bet she’s constantly buying new product, too. Even I, who definitely has a spending limit and does not have any royal tours or events to dress for, can get into an online shopping habit for a couple of weeks. It seems like once you start, it’s easier to buy something else, then something else. You put stuff in your “save for later” cart and then end up going back for it the next day until you end up getting distracted by something else in your life or decide you can’t actually justify spending anymore money and you have no more room in the recycling bin for the boxes. Kate has no reason to stop, she doesn’t do enough of anything else like work, chores, or socializing to get distracted, and I bet she has as many recycling bins as she wants.

I bet she uses her “stylist” more as a wardrobe maiden, like the stylist picks up clothes that Kate ordered from shops, unboxes packages, sends stuff away for cleaning, organizes stuff in her closet, packs her bags for trips, and does her back zippers and bracelet clasps for her. I don’t think Kate’s stylist is actually picking the clothes. If she were, you’d think we’d see a consistent, individual style. But no, we see Kate wearing wildly divergent styles because she’s going from copying the Queen, to Jecca, to Diana, to Meghan depending on who she feels most threatened by at the moment.

      • BooyahB!tches says:

        @Amy Too, who is “Jecca”?!

    • TaraBest says:

I’m wearing a similarly pleated skirt of the same length today, but with a fitted ribbed top. So, I would have to say that I think the skirt style is in just not with a blazer. At least for my sake I hope so!

      • Ann says:

I love that look! I bought a similar outfit last fall but I haven’t worn it yet. I need to drop a bit more Pandemic weight, or get a breast reduction, before I can wear a top like that again. I have no intention of getting surgery so it’s more dieting and exercise for me so I can finally wear it.

      • Becks1 says:

I think the skirt style is definitely in! I have some midi skirts but not really anything pleated bc I haven’t had to wear anything besides leggings or sweat pants in a long time, LOL. I just don’t think it works with the big blazer here.

    • MF1 says:

Yeah, I like both pieces separately but not together.

I can actually imagine both pieces on Megha. She would wear that pleated skirt with a slim silk tee. The combinations of textures would look rich but relaxed. And she would wear that blazer but with a pair of slim fit pants and a pair of higher, slightly sexier heels. Much less dowdy.

    • Lorelei says:

She looks like she could have just stepped out of the movie 9 to 5 — she fits right in with this getup

    • February-Pisces says:

No the blazer/pleated skirt together look is definitely NOT back. Separately yes, but not together, no way. That blazer should be with a pair of cigarette trousers or tapered trousers.

I don’t know how she’s not embarrassed to be blatantly copying her dead mother in law like this. Keen stans were trashing Meghan for wearing a basic off white shirt, and comparing it to Diana saying she copied. But Kate’s look exists nowhere. She legit photocopied Diana.

I remember when she and Louis recreated a photo of princess Anne and baby harry for trooping the colour. Louis was wearing baby Harry’s exact outfit and Kate wore lemon yellow like Anne. Not a ‘coincidence’, not an ‘homage‘ or even ‘ inspired by’, but a straight up photocopy.

    • Cheshiresmile says:

That would be a modern approach to styling the skirt if one weren’t steeped in 1988, trying to emulate a woman with oodles more charisma.

    • BooyahB!tches says:

No, they’re not back in fashion, she’s just stuck in the early 90s. She dresses like an old woman. God she’s draining….

    • missskitttin says:

      That’s 1990

    • Jules says:

The blazer/long skirt used to be a thing in the 80s and Diana dressed stylishly for the time. I personally wouldn’t be caught dead wearing that now but 10+ years ago I had an identical skirt with a dropped waist in blush. It was sort of like a long, gauzy tennis skirt. I paired it with a thin, merino wool, short-sleeved sweater I found in the exact same color. I miss that outfit…

  2. Amy Bee says:

We better start calling her Granny Kate.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

She is now Prince Philip, haven’t you heard?

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Amy Bee, the first think I thought is that the skirt is too long on her. The second is that I don’t like that blazer with the skirt. If she would quit looking at pictures of Di and start dressing for herself, her choices would be different. Although Diana was only an inch taller than Keen, that’s where similarities stop. If Keen (or whomever) would dress for her figure, she would be way ahead of the game. Looking at Diana and Keen in a side-by-side comparison in the same/similar outfit really shows the problem. Sigh . . .

  3. stkarolina says:

Her stupid baby masks continue to be the most offensive thing about her ensemble to me. Just wear a surgical mask, for f* sake. They make em in all different colors now, too. No excuse for these ill-fitting masks.

    • Gah says:

Me too @StKarolina I can’t stand the child masks.

Someone must have told her she looks prettier with more of her face exposed so she’s sticking with it.

She just looks foolish- the elastic is stretched so tight over her cheeks!?

Also she could do with some Trinny videos.

Good timeless style is really all about proportion, knowing what suits you (coloring, body type etc) and then having a bit of personal flair (which she will never have).

But she should at least get the first two right.

My god it’s not that hard.

Kate’s biggest problem is proportion. They are always always always wrong. Big diamond necklace w a gown that has a statement neckline. Drop waist dresses. That weird ankle length for dresses/skirts that is beyond tea length

Big buttons big shoulders ugh. Someone please help her!!!

  4. Cecilia says:

I know Diana was a style icon but dear kate…… its not the 80’s anymore…… im sorry but this whole look is very “old” if that makes sense.

    • Chaine says:

It’s beyond me that with unlimited funds at her disposal and presumably the ability to consult with leading designers and stylists, she dresses so incredibly dowdy.

      • Cecilia says:

This is literally something i can see princess anne wear. And she’s in her 70’s ….. If they want to sell Billy & Cathy as a vibrant young couple it would be wise not to make them dress like they’re grandparents. And particularly kate.

      • L84Tea says:

It makes me think about some of the other crowned heads in Europe–Letizia, Mary, Maxima–those women have the funds to buy good clothes and by God, they use em’. Letizia and Mary (of Denmark) are in my opinion the best dressed royals on the planet. They not only wear good clothes that are both professional, chic, and modern, but they are tailored to fit them perfectly. Kate’s style is such a hot mess of cosplaying, dowdy, fussy, and ill-fitting.

      • Calibration says:

L84tea Cathy has the funds and uses them too, just really badly. I was an adult in the 80s and every time I see Kate I laugh my freaking head off. It’s just the worst of the 80s : the hemlines, that dropped waist (I know I wore tons of dropped waist dresses but non so bad) also tartan was huge. Also, buttons were huge. Big buttons, gold buttons, buttons buttons. She really is mostly doing Di when not trying to copy meghan. But being Di is more than clothes.

Mary also deliberately chased Fred and did everything she could to hook him, but she also worked hard at being a royal. She got surgery but not too much, she styled herself to perfection. Geez she even learned Danish and took actual princess lessons. Kate and Mary are similar but Mary had a work ethic.

      • Hannah says:

Don’t forget Rania of Jordan! Letizia dresses beautifully but Mary is often rather boring…

      • L84Tea says:

@Calibration, I don’t know a whole lot about Mary and Fred’s start, but I do think regardless of whether she “Waity’d” him or not, she has proven herself to be a hardworking royal married-in and very fit for the job. I’ve heard Queen Margrethe holds her in very high regard and really trusts her. She’s always dressed appropriately, acts very professionally, and works nonstop. And yeah, she learned Danish in her first year of marriage! Kate had every opportunity to work just as hard, but squandered it. We’re now seeing the results of letting two senior royals off the hook for a solid decade.

@Hannah, sorry I did forget about Rania. She’s so beautiful and her clothes are amazing. I don’t always like everything she wears, but when she does it right she knocks it out of the park. As for Mary, I find her so so chic. I actually prefer her style because it’s understated. She wears slacks and blazers so beautifully. And she has a pretty good shoe game!

      • ArtHistorian says:

Mary’s style is very Scandinavian chic, which isn’t surprising since she has a professional stylist that has a good rep in the business.

She is held in very high regard in Denmark – she was made regent (a bit like Councillor of State), which means that she can assume the duties of the Head of State if the Queen or the Crown Prince is out of the country. This is actually HUGE – since the only other non-Glücksborg who was given this role was the late Queen Ingrid.

      • JustBitchy says:

Could you imagine if Keen Guevara tried to pull off a Magpie Maxima outfit? Maxima is best dressed IMO but I love OTT. Matilde (?) of Belgium is a class act.

  5. BayTampaBay says:

Much of what Cathy wears I do not care for but this this outfit looks nice on her. The outfit is appropriate for the event.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

The colour looks nice on her but I am sorry to say that it looks more modern on Diana.

  6. Nomegusta says:

The people in Hello’s comment section are so salty they put up the comparison 🤣

    My favorite delusional comment is,

‘She’s not copying Diana. She has her own personality’

…sis, her personality is cosplaying her husband’s deceased mother…someone go find this woman’s Pinterest, bet the Single White Female vibes are off the chain

    • Cecilia says:

That is literally been the angle ever since kate married in… “she’s just like diana”. Which explains why the cosplays her dead mother in law so much. It never bothered the derangers until sussex supporters started pointing it out and saying that kate has nothing of her own. So she copies.

      • Elizabeth Regina says:

Oddly enough the more she dresses like Diana and cosplays her, the more we see that they are nothing alike. Kate has no personality and keeps laughing like a hyena. I feel sorry that she simply does not know who she is as she has been subsumed and moulded into that family so much.

    • Kalana says:

There’s just no way for the derangers to excuse it away. It’s either an extraordinary coincidence or Kate’s a walking creepshow with no identity of her own.

      • Cecilia says:

Its the latter and they know it too. They just don’t like it when you point out that kate brings absolutely nothing new to the table.

      • JT says:

I wonder how William feels about her copying his mother. It’s really creepy because Kate is his wife and they have a sexual relationship, or had, and here she is trying to morph into Diana. It’s like he’s sleeping with his mother. I wouldn’t be able to feel any attraction. So gross.

      • Cecilia says:

@JT. I know its not that kind of an event but i don’t think that william looked at this outfit and said: “yeah you look wonderful in that”. If he did he’s trolling her.

      • JT says:

@Cecilia I doubt he ever compliments her anymore and certainly not in that outfit. Kate is 39 the same age as Meghan and she dresses sooo old. She doesn’t know how to take the good parts of Diana’s style. She just throws everything in the sink like the dated shoulder pads and ruffles and thinks she’s doing something. It’s all disturbing because, again, you’re having sex with her son. Why do you want to morph into her?

      • HeatherC says:

After years of “extraordinary coincidences” it’s safe to say she’s a walking creep show with no identity of her own.

    • SaySo says:

This! How weird it must be to have a partner that copies your deceased parent in order to be liked or to manipulate the conversation around your crappy family’s behavior……. eww.

    • Farfromreality says:

The comments are hilarious. I love the one that says she REALLY likes Kate but maybe stop trying so hard to be Diana.

    • Lyra says:

      In twitter of Hello?

  7. Eleonor says:

” Besides all of that, she looks like she borrowed Gillian Anderson’s Maggie Thatcher costumes from The Crown.” I was ROTFL here!

  8. Jan says:

Jacket for Diana, pleated skirt for Meghan, not an original idea in her head.

  9. Jane Doe says:

The theme dressing and Diana cosplay are both extraordinarily odd things for a grown adult to do.

    • Becks1 says:

And the way the theme dressing is described as “diplomatic dressing” – I feel like that would be highlighting a Scottish designer or maybe a local Scottish clothing line or something. Not dressing in the colors of the flag.

      • Merricat says:

Yes, and it simply emphasizes how shallow Kate is, that her idea of dressing to honor a country is limited to flags. No tartans because that would remind the Scots of…stuff.

  10. Noor says:

Kate is totally subsumed by the monarchy.

If your mother in law is such an iconic figure, would you wear her engagement ring? Would you keep wearing clothes that echo your mother in law?

    • swirlmamad says:

That ring is such a desperate symbol of doom I will NEVER understand why William thought it was a good idea to propose with it, far less Kate insisting on flaunting it front and center every day since.

      • Curious says:

Diana engagement ring is a cursed ring. its not a ring of love. that ring is a symbol of charles famous words on tv, whatever love means . sometime i wonder why William gave it to Catherine, was he also saying ,he don’t love her but have to marry her.? i don’t think many women would have accepted that ring for their engagement ring.

  11. mariahlee says:

Diana stalking aside, I see what she was going for here. Structured blazers and pleated skirts are both trending — the latter less so this season. But it’d be more stylish if the blazer was a bit oversized and maybe belted at the waist, and the skirt was hemmed a little higher. Also the color is pretty, but kinda childish? Idk. And then the brown accessories are too mature/drab. I give it a B overall.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

The shoes and handbag look ridiculous with this outfit.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

They don’t match the blue – plus they look velvet. She really needs to sack Natasha Archer who is a terrible stylist. Neither Keen or Archer can put an outfit together to save their lives.

      • BayTampaBay says:

Must agree with you. The shoes and handbag look ridiculous. I would have worn a printed patterned shoe with this solid color outfit.

    • Eurydice says:

Actually, pleated skirts are the thing in the fall 202l collections, as are bold colors – we know how much Kate likes to dress as if it were autumn. I think she looks ok, but unremarkable, which is pretty much her theme. That was not Diana’s theme.

    • Amelia says:

Pleated skirts have never suited her. At least I don’t think so. I didn’t realised she was copying Meghan until lately. She’s done it with the skirts, the capped coat, the pussy bow shirts, the tailored pants, the accessories and the brands she buys them from (strathberry, Jennifer chamandi etc) AND the interior design of your zoom background. How petty does one have to be? You help create this horrible environment and watching as your SIL (who’s way better than you in every aspect btw) was bullied to the point of wanting to kill herself and then at the same time you imitate every aspect of her style to try to ooze out the same personality she has. How does she sleep at night?

    • MF1 says:

I like bold colors and I like this blue. But if you’re going to wear two eye catching pieces, it’s easier to pull off in a softer or neutral color.

  12. Me says:

Just FYI, the “X” is the cross of St Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland.

  13. Kalana says:

It is so creepy the way Kate copies Diana or rather Kate uses Diana the same way she uses other women.

  14. SarahCS says:

My first thought was why copy Thatcher? But no, of course it’s a combo of Diana and flag dressing.

Yikes. Who actually puts these outfits together and things they’re good?

  15. Jan says:

Guess the Scots are not falling for Cain’s speech, it was all about him, this second visit from the lamebridges so soon after their COVID train, is not turning out BoJo/BRF expected, it’s helping the independence crowd.

  16. UnionSnack says:

This “music” video is just cringeworthy. She behave like she is 5 years old.

  17. MsIam says:

Awful and very old fashioned looking. If you are going for retro you need to have fun with it and not look so “buttoned up” literally. Maybe she thought she was mixing things up with those awful brown/ gold shoes?

  18. Aang says:

The clothes fit, are clean, pressed, and are work appropriate. Beyond that criteria I won’t criticize another woman’s clothes. I don’t care for the color but I’m not wearing it so that’s irrelevant.

    • BayTampaBay says:

“The clothes fit, are clean, pressed, and are work appropriate.”

Which is all they need to be for this type of work event.

    • Erica says:

Agreed. I do like the color though!

    • swirlmamad says:

Unfortunately, Kate brings nothing more to the table than a critique of the outfits she wears to these engagements. Would be great to have something else to discuss — interesting things she had to say, etc. Even the BM makes “What Kate wore” the main focus of anything they write about her.

    • Maria says:

If other people (taxpayers) are paying for it, attention on it will be a little more intensified.
This is a stupid attempt at manipulating the Scots into “not wanting” independence anyway, so it’s all ridiculous to me.

    • notasugarhere says:

She has plenty of other clothes in this exact shade already. No need to buy yet more clothing. She spent what, over 100,000 during a pandemic on new clothes for Zoom calls?

I was today years old when i noticed Kate wore simillar outfits or colours as Diana to her engagement announcement and showing of the babies to the media at Lindo wing.

    • Kalana says:

Also her Lindo outfit for Louis was a dupe of Mia Farrow’s outfit in Rosemary’s Baby. We can expect big things from Louis!

Imagine some parallel reality where that was the deal the Middletons made?

And I also want to make it very clear to anyone reading this that I’m kidding.

      • swirlmamad says:

That’s actually pretty creepy (wearing a copy of the Rosemary’s Baby outfit). I googled it and Kate holding Louis was the first thing that came up! I yi yi….

  20. Catherine says:

The color coded dressing bothers me so much especially the fact that the media tries to sell it as diplomacy. Why not wear clothes from a designer or a retailer that is from the country. They would provide direct support to the retail sector which needs the support. But no, as always with the Cambridge’s; it’s a case of do the most obvious thing that will get treated like an accomplishment.

  21. Sofia says:

I like the colour and actually like the outfit but as separates rather than it all together. I think that skirt with a nice top/jumper and that blazer with some nice pants would make it two good outfits.

  22. Seraphina says:

Her wardrobe echoes the same word as her work ethic: Mediocre at best.

  23. aquarius64 says:

Kate’s outfit is dead on like Diana’s. Creepy. And she should not start a career as a DJ. That mess she did; she would have been blood off the stage in the club. (Nice of Billy to take a shot at his wife during an engagement.)

    • Becks1 says:

The music part cracked me up because on that parody show The Windsors Kate has a stint as a DJ, lol.

    • Noki says:

Did you notice that? He is so bitchy and passive aggresive with his comments in public.Imagine what he says to her in private,he strikes me as someone who would remind her constantly to ‘know her place’

    • Cecilia says:

      What did william say?

      • Becks1 says:

Kate was making some music on the…..thing (no, I don’t know what it’s called, lol, just a computer maybe?) and you can hear William in the background saying ‘its hurting my ears” and then “yes please delete that” like it was so bad it needed to be deleted. They even included that line in KP’s tweet about it.

(or was it Kate saying to delete it?)

    • swirlmamad says:

Yeah….disparaging as usual. Such a supportive and loving hubby, that William.

    • Belli says:

Once you notice that all of Willy’s jokes are mean-spirited, it really stands out.

  24. Mooney says:

That costume is 😬😬. If I’ve to choose from the it, I’ll only take the skirt. But anyone notice the countess Subscribe wearing long skirts since Montecito Duchess? And two toned pleated skirt (Middleton sandwich, remember)? Before that all her skirts were very tight pencil skirts above knees or those flared mini skirts that looked something like a little girl would wear.

I think this is a bit of damage control, but separately. Hubby called his mother paranoid,so I’ll cosplay my mother in law and bingo, everyone forgot his statements and keen is trending for being Diana’s blue clone. Absolutely creepy that she doesn’t spare a detail while copying(Hi Carole with an E). Also apparently, she’s taking Philip’s role of family glue. Whatever 😛

And Cain is so Cain. “Please shut that my ears are hurting”. This on camera, no surprise how he’s behind the scenes. They don’t even pretend anymore.

  25. Chaine says:

Kate, you know your fashion sense is off when Wills looks more snazzy than you!

    • Juls says:

I think they both look awful. They look like they went to a thrift store together and each picked out clothing for the other.

      • PlainJane says:

THISSS!!! Agree completely, and what fun they must have had! Bill said, “I’m gonna dress you like a Granny Margaret Thatcher.” Cathy replies, “You do that, and I am dressing you the like THAT balding dad who is still tryna be hot and cool at the same time, but just comes off like a walking STD in hipster shoes.”

Oh wait, that was just in my mind …

  26. Merricat says:

I mentioned this in an earlier comment, and now I am laughing—they probably DID tell Kate to lay off the tartans for the Anti-Independence Tour.

  27. Emily says:

Another style that looks like it’s designed to hide her body.

    • Dee says:

Wait until you see today’s outfit. It looks like she’s wearing an entire coat closet.

  28. Chicken Tetrazzini! says:

Has Will ever said a kind or encouraging or loving word to her during these events? “Turn that off it’s hurting my ears” or “She’s a bad driver” or something along those lines. It’s always got an edge to it that might seem like self-deprecating fun on the surface, but it must be 1000 paper cuts over decades

    • The Duchess says:

The way she apologised for it after he said that, then proceeded to say “delete it, delete it, delete it” was so weird to me. It was like she was fearful of him. Makes you wonder what really goes on when nobody is around. They don’t even pretend to like each other anymore.

    • Izzy says:

I caught that too, and it’s disgusting.

    • Dee says:

It’s part of the Charles and Diana cosplay. She channels Di, he channels his dad. I’m sure those comments have cowed her over the years.

  29. L84Tea says:

Maybe I’m reaching, and maybe it’s just because there has been so much Diana-talk lately between Harry’s documentary and the interview nonsense from William, but lately it almost feels like Will and Kate are “fighting over” Diana with Harry. Like they are trying to claim some ownership to Diana that Harry no longer has. Like I said, maybe it’s just because there has been so much focus on Diana lately, but between William’s asinine speech that’s sort of still hanging in the air, the statue unveiling coming up, and Kate’s blatant continual cosplaying, it’s too much for me. I am getting such a weird vibe from them both.

    • JT says:

You’re definitely not reaching. I think William and Kate, mostly William, are trying to remind people of their Diana connection too, but their attempts are so hollow. It’s not organic the way people automatically connect the dots with Harry and even Meghan. W&K are trying to force it but in all of the wrong ways. For starters, don’t gaslight your mom and call her paranoid. She had every reason to be. Secondly, Kate dressing like her is not homaging, it’s single white femaleing and it’s disturbing. And notice she is trying to copy Diana’s work ethic or her vulnerability. It’s all surface level. Everything they do is performative which is the opposite of Diana, who wore her heart and her emotions on her sleeve like Harry does and you cannot fake that.

    • SurelyNot says:

if you are, then you are not reaching alone — Diana’s memory has been doing the most and invoked on a near daily basis — I’m not going to get in the weeds on who deserves to or not, but “echoes of Diana” are everywhere of late.

  30. Over it says:

Karen keen upper lip looks like the Botox needle pricked it. Something is really off in a bad way with her upper lip. And why can’t she dress like herself? Ffs

  31. Izzy says:

The color looks great on her, but I will never understand why she dresses herself so dowdy.

The music video is cute, it’s kind of a cool thing and she’s clearly having fun. What really grates on my nerves is Willieleaks in the background saying “turn it off, it hurts my ears.” Like, STFU Mozart.

    • L84Tea says:

He just oozes charm, doesn’t he? Barf…

      • Amelia says:

I just noticed the wording of the poster behind William 😂😂😭
“We specialise in providing support to adults with complex needs”

  32. Watson says:

The colour is nice. The combo gives her a little bit of weight to her frame which is welcome.

However if i were her i wouldn’t have gone with a double breasted blazer in the same colour. She should have done the skirt, cream coloured camisole and blazer that was opened but that would have showcased just how thin she is. Alternatively i would have done the skirt with a moto leather jacket but that is never going to be princess approved. Lol!

My issue is recalling the sartorial spectre of your dead mother in law in the hopes of curtailing Scottish independence. Girl, your fashion and your husbands lack of charm aren’t going change any of this. Ridiculous!! These two are the least charismatic people on earth and won’t change how Scott’s feel.

  33. Jodie says:

As a Scot, I absolutely hate every part of this cringeworthy begging assignment.

  34. BeanieBean says:

I didn’t even realize at first that that’s a two-tone skirt, I thought it was just some weird shadowing. I think wearing the ‘matching’ jacket obscures that design note. Something different on top would have worked better for that skirt.

  35. EM says:

Oh my god. Kate’s outfit is awful. Why is she so matchy-matchy and twee (and stuffy at the same time) with everything? And stop cosplaying your deceased Mother in Law! Does William think that’s odd, or is he into it?

Also Kate is a young woman but looks like she reeks of old lady perfume all the time.

  36. February-Pisces says:

Someone needs to explain to kate that when you copy someone’s homework your suppose to switch it up a bit so the teacher won’t notice.

  37. Lesley says:

This blue on blue combo looks like something Carol (with an E) laid out for Kate to put on. The key to working out if it’s a Carole pick? It’s got a strong 1980s vibe and the colours match. If Kate picked it out the colours they often don’t, she will wear burgundy and red, or tomato red with a bluey based red.

    • Joanna says:

I think Carole picks out her clothes. It would explain why she wears outdated stuff that makes her look older than she is.

  38. nicegirl says:

    William is such a dick

  39. Athena says:

Why does no one ever comment on the fact that William is always wearing the same clothes. He needs to move on from the chinos and get some dress pants, nice button down shirts and leather shoes. He should have dressed a set above business casual for this outing.

    • Becks1 says:

Yes, he’s either in a military uniform, tuxedo, morning suit, regular blue suit, or this outfit. The firs three are obviously only going to be worn for certain occasions, so he basically rotates between a blue suit and this blue ensemble. He needs something in between. Or if he wants to keep this same vibe – chinos, sweater, button down, suede shoes – at least switch it up a bit! They make all those items in different colors!

  40. Lucretia says:

Only dear Kathy Keen can make couture look basic and matronly, a cosplay outfit from her late mother in law look far superior in the original decade, and generally any outfit look insipid and bland.

  41. Liz version 700 says:

    So many buttons!!!!

  42. Tessa says:

Kate is nothing like Diana. Diana had a work ethic and was a lot more proactive.

    • Dido says:

Yes, exactly! She can mimic the clothes but she doesn’t have the compassion and care for the vulnerable and those most marginalized by society. Diana didn’t become the people’s princess purely because of her outfits. She was loved by outsiders everywhere because she actually touched people’s hearts. (AIDS, leprosy, landmines…)

Kate likes to dress the part, but the similarities stop there. She doesn’t have the heart.

  43. colleen says:

I like the color but the combo looks very ‘80s (Diana cosplay!).

Those shoes should be thrown in a fire pit.

  44. lili says:

My only issue is – is this like iconic Diana? I hate that women are accused of dressing like someone else while there’s not identical or wore more universally. Like Diana wore a lot of outfirts as did many celebrities and people so it’s annoying to me to pinpoint this.

  45. KR says:

“And buttons. Lots of shiny gold buttons, and a gold clutch to draw attention to the magnificent buttons.” OML I lol. And I swear I’m now drinking my coffee and deep inside my head is the repetitive “brr…..br br brruuuuuuurrr”

  46. SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

How is she managing to do her clothes shopping in 1987? That’s the real superpower.

  47. Shannon says:

OMG…I stared at that side by side of Diana and Kate, and I still got to ask who is making the fashion choices, because idk… That’s just not a complimentary shade of blue on anyone.

  48. CrystalBall says:

Stalking her deceased MIL Diana by copying her outfits is very creepy and in extremely poor taste. Has William realized yet WHAT he married? This feels as bad as the film Rebecca (Alfred Hitchcock – based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier).

  49. Lauren R says:

She should have worn those great beige wide leg pants with this blazer. That would have worked better with the shoes and provided a modern take on her Diana blue blazer inspiration.
