Lord, I’m sorry I even heard the name “Michael Costello.” This is the timeline for the past week: Chrissy Teigen, seemingly out of nowhere, issued a lengthy and self-absorbed second apology on Medium. She apologized (again) for her history of trollish behavior. Hours later, fashion designer Michael Costello issued a statement on his Instagram claiming that Chrissy had bullied him for years and tried to destroy his career. He provided “screencaps” of their alleged DMs, where it looked like Teigen told Costello that he should die. Leona Lewis then came in and was like “not so fast,” and she told her story of how Costello treated her poorly at a charity fashion show. Then Chrissy’s manager went to Business Insider and poked holes in Costello’s story and claimed that the DMs Costello posted were faked.
On Friday, Chrissy got on Twitter to say that she had no idea what Costello was doing but he wasn’t telling the truth. She posted a statement from her rep too:

“Chrissy Teigen very clearly and contritely apologized for tweets she made around a decade ago. She did not acknowledge nor apologize for sending private messages directing or encouraging self harm.” Is… she saying she never DM’d Courtney Stodden and sent Stodden messages like “kill yourself”? Or is Teigen’s message just about Costello? She also posted real messages Costello has sent her over the years:

After all that, she instructed her followers to NOT bully Costello, but that she would sue Costello if he continued with this mess. She accused Costello of “causing actual pain to people who are trying to better themselves.”
As a sidenote, after all of that, it was announced that Teigen will no longer work with Safely, the cleaning-product line she was doing with Kris Jenner, which they announced several months ago. Safely made a statement that “Chrissy will be stepping away from Safely to take much needed time to focus on herself and be with her family.”

What’s the goal here ? She needs to make peace with the fact that she won’t regain the popularity she had without laying low for a while and genuinely apologize to the people she hurt.
And I’m thinking, we’ll.. maybe someone should sue CHRISSY TIEGEN for pain and suffering.

@Woke I agree with you. Again she is trying to bully her way out of this. She needs to lay low and show she is contrite. Threatening people with lawsuits ain’t it. It feels like she did not learn anything.
This is bigger than Castello. It is about her own journey. Owning her sh%t and working on redemption. The lawsuit fuels the fire and ensures that this is not going away and will keep reminding people of what she did to others.
What she said about Lindsay Lohan adding more slits to her wrist is just all kinds of wrong. Pray we all be kind to one another.
I doubt she’s capable of either because it requires real work. She needs to stay silent for at least 6 months, a year & focus on really being a better person. She can’t shut up for longer a few seconds. She lives online. She always appeared so fake to me, I didn’t realize how mean she was until recently. Costello obviously hasn’t. Everything that was alleged about him was true. I did a deep dive on Twitter about what had happened in 2014. Instead of apologizing for his past mistakes & trying to be better, he continues to lie. He continued to shift the focus back on Chrissy. Everyone knows she’s a bully but it doesn’t excuse his awful behavior, either. Both need to shut up. It looks like he’s decided to stay quiet, finally.
Definitely not capable of staying silent or laying low. She posted a photo of herself all dolled up to celebrate “lurrrve” and her sister’s engagement yesterday. Literally a photo of just her in a pink dress, to “celebrate” her sister. So I guess she decided she’s done enough and stayed quiet long enough, back to usual for her!
The goal, I think, is to limit the damage so that she can eventually return. It’s truly heinous what she did to Stodden and Wallis, but if others start sending out fake stuff to pile on, that’s going to be a problem.

Yes. They both need to be *silently* problematic for a while. He can go back to making mediocre clothing, and she can enjoy the second-hand fame of being a musician’s wife and enjoy her family. Nothing they say is going to help anything right now, and suing would only Streisand Effect the situation into the stratosphere.

I’m getting abuse flashbacks when I see her tweeting a few normal/pleasant exchanges between herself and this Michael person as if that’s a kind of “proof” that she was never abusive.

I also think the nice comments he made to her are classic bullying victim behavior. Having been in a situation where I was bullied by a colleague for literally years, one of the strategies I tried to get it to stop was to say nice flattering things to this person hoping that would make them stop. (It didn’t work).
Isn’t that kinda what Costello did the Leona Lewis, though? Posting positive DMs to “prove” he never refused to fix her dress? So they’re both abusers.
These people both suck. Here’s the thing: Chrissy Teigen has such a long history of lousy behavior towards others that Michael Costello’s claim was believable. No one said “I can’t imagine Chrissy doing something like this.” So at the end of the day, her behavior is still that problematic.

It doesn’t even matter if these particular messages were faked because we know she’s bullied many other people. She’s not proving anything here by going after him.
She will not sue, for one simple reason – because if she did, she’d open herself up to the discovery process. The other side could depose her, could get court orders for twitter to hand over her entire account history, etc. It would be a license to dig through her entire online life and find every crumb of dirt she’d ever left behind. Any half-intelligent lawyer would discourage her from suing solely for these reasons.
I don’t think she wants to do that, it could backfire in spectacular fashion. I’m tired of both of them, they both need to stop seeking so much attention.
Chrissy and John are overextended financially. She’s in a rush to clear her name because she is losing money that they need. I’m glad she’s only making it worse. She doesn’t deserve nice things.
I’m sorry, but this is fanfiction. Chrissy is a terrible person, but you don’t know anything about their finances.
Chrissy is very lucky that MC popped his little gopher head up and entered this fracas. Based on many unprompted comments with direct sources, my opinion is that even in his little hometown, his reputation seems to me to be extremely negative. I doubt CT is smart enough to pay MC to deflect from her 100% deserved and overdue fall from grace, but it would be some of the smartest crisis PR I’ve seen lately.
About MC and his crowing and fighting about copying, he should be glad that Edith Head has passed away, and that Thierry Mugler DGAF who his little trifling behind is. I’ve never seen anything from MC that in my opinion even resembled an original design.
Just to be clear CT should just go and live under a rock for the rest of her life, be banned from all SM platforms, and never be given a sponsorship or media job again.
