Trump says Seth Meyers mocking him is ‘probably illegal’

Donald Trump has had one helluva busy couple weeks. The demolition of the East Wing to make way for his kabillion-dollar ballroom was completed ahead of schedule, he made super fantastic visits to Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea that in no way raised questions about his mental acuity, and then all in one weekend he threw a Great Gatsby themed Halloween party on the eve of millions of Americans losing SNAP benefits, expressed how very bigly badly he felt for poor Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and touted the marble-and-gold renovation of the Lincoln bathroom that exactly no one asked for. In short, the work the American electorate sent him to DC to do. Yet with all that on his (Happy Meal) plate, Dementia Don still found time to attend to another important task: attacking Seth Meyers on social media for Seth’s mockery accurate reporting of Trump. Sleepy Mango’s feelings were so bigly hurt, he suggested he’d drum up charges on the grounds that mockery of the president is “probably illegal.” Yeah, and I’m probably Nicole Kidman.

The president, 79, shared a lengthy Truth Social post calling out Meyers, 51, on Saturday, Nov. 1, after the comedian mocked the president’s recent trip to Asia. Trump called Meyers a “truly deranged lunatic” and questioned the legality of his ribbing.

The president seemed particularly concerned with the talk show host mocking his recent comments about catapults on Late Night with Seth Meyers. While addressing troops in Japan, Trump declared that he will issue an executive order to bring back the use of steam-powered, rather than electromagnetic, catapults on aircraft carriers.

After playing a clip of Trump’s address — which Meyers sarcastically referred to as an “expert treatise” on catapults — the Late Night host joked, “I’ll try my best to explain the gist of what he’s talking about in a new segment we’re calling ‘Seth Translates Trump to English.’”

“Experts say it would cost billions to go back to the old system, but Trump thinks he knows more about aviation than everyone else because he dances like one of those guys that holds the signaling sticks on the runway,” the host later joked over a clip of Trump dancing, which was edited so he’s dressed like an aircraft marshaller.

The catapult address was one of several Trump moments Meyers criticized throughout the segment. The president later took to Truth Social to continue his ongoing attacks against late-night hosts.

“Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television,” Trump began his Truth Social post responding to Meyers’ comments. “In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise. I watched his show the other night for the first time in years.

In it he talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults.”

“On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic,” the president continued. “Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”

[From People]

Oh really, Mr. President Felon? You wanna go down the ratings road? Cause the results are in and someone’s fat orange ass just got handed to him on a gold platter. Also, I know it’s a fool’s errand to seek out logic in Trump soliloquies, but I’m hung up on the fact that Trump complains Meyers “talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers…” My dude, he was covering/poking fun at YOU! YOU are the source material for droning on and on about electric catapults on aircraft carriers! At this point I’d usually tell someone to think it through, but we know that’s a dead end with this guy. Anyway, Trump’s made no secret of Meyers being next on his late night talk show host hit list (along with Jimmy Fallon, so much for not being “that political”). My question is, does Seth Meyers have the same rallying power as Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel? I’m honestly not sure. But we’re gonna find out, cause it’s coming.

Hopefully the First Amendment has enough rallying power that we all rise to the occasion when it (inevitably) happens to Seth Meyers, and yes, even when it happens to Jimmy Fallon.
    And to anyone else.

If we stay quiet and complicit, we will ALL lose our 1A rights soon enough. He’s already coming for them on so many fronts.

‘100% anti-trump = probably illegal’- the fact that I read that and just felt really numb/ tired is really really scary…

  3. Nanea says:

Free speech for me, but not for thee?

Felon47 is allowed to lie and get away with it, while other people aren’t allowed to criticise, or call out, a corrupt convicted rapist?

While I don’t think Seth Myers has as huge a rallying power as Stephen Colbert internationally, I’m sure people would gather around just because it’s the Orange dictator trying to censor people he doesn’t like.

    Kismet, please don’t insult mangos!

  6. Arhus says:

Ugh. How does he have all this time?
Wtf is up with bringing back steam powered? It is some sort of tin hat worried they’ll scramble electromagnetic waves thing? How often do we use catapults? What is going on?!!
