Lownie: Sarah Ferguson & Sean Combs were friends-with-benefits for years?

Biographer Andrew Lownie released the right book at the right time last year – his book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, came out right before all of the revelations from Epstein Files, including much more information about Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s relationships with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Lownie got some stuff correct about Sarah and Andrew, but he’s also gotten some things wrong, including his harping on and on about Prince Harry. Well, Lownie’s book is now out in paperback and Lownie has added more claims and stories in the latest edition. One of those claims? That Sarah was friends-with-benefits with Sean Combs.

Sean “Diddy” Combs claimed to have enjoyed a “friends with benefits” relationship with Sarah Ferguson for several years, according to a new book. Combs, previously known as P Diddy, is said to have bragged about sleeping with Ms Ferguson and once stayed with her at a hotel costing more than £50,000 per night, it is claimed.

The rapper, currently serving a prison sentence for transportation for prostitution, boasted about “slamming” Ms Ferguson during sexual encounters that started in 2004, according to Andrew Lownie, the author.

A source close to the then Duchess of York described the claims as “blatantly untrue”.

The new allegations are contained in an updated paperback edition of Entitled, Mr Lownie’s bestselling book about the rise and fall of the House of York. Combs and Ms Ferguson first met in 2002 at a party in New York thrown by Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year jail sentence for child sex trafficking. Maxwell was the on-off girlfriend of the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, whom Ms Ferguson also counted as a friend.

Another associate of Combs told Mr Lownie that in 2004, the rapper and Ms Ferguson began a “secret friends with benefits” relationship that continued for several years.

The book says that in 2006, the rapper launched his own perfume called Unforgivable, which he claimed was inspired by Ms Ferguson and how she liked a man to smell. A source told Mr Lownie that the pair would meet in luxury hotels in Europe and Africa, including a seven-star hotel that cost more than £50,000 per night. Combs’s personal fortune has been estimated at $1bn (£733m).

A source close to Ms Ferguson said: “This is absolute fabricated nonsense, blatantly untrue and yet another false allegation from him.”

[From The Telegraph]

My gut instinct is that this is a total lie, from start to finish. But I’ve reconsidered it a little bit. Like… do we believe that Sarah and Combs would have seen each other as just another notch on the bedpost? Perhaps. Sarah has always been drawn to powerful, wealthy men and I could absolutely see her trying to work an angle to get some money/status from Combs. On Combs’ side, I could perhaps see him doing it for the bragging rights. But no, I just don’t think this is real.

Incidentally, the i Newspaper had a new piece about whether Sarah will take a £1 million-plus deal for a memoir. Sources say that she doesn’t want to break any confidences, but she’s desperate for money. She apparently wants to speak to King Charles, but he’s been dodging her overtures. A friend told the newspaper: “She never wrote a tell-all memoir about Princess Diana and would never write a tell-all memoir about the Royal Family but that doesn’t mean she might not write a memoir. She’s got a good story to tell.” I think she’s trying to blackmail the Windsors publicly. This is some version of “either you protect me and finance my retirement or I start talking.”

  1. Blubb says:

What would have been the benefits to him?

    • 810Mama says:

The “benefits” part is the sex.

When people are just (platonic) friends the relationship is basically company, chats, shopping together, etc.

Friends – with.benefits – is friends + sex. No love or expectations. 😑 I don’t believe this story.

    • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

The benefit is the royal connection because he thought very highly and this was probably the closest he could get to royalty. I believe this story. Sarah was totally smitten by anything shiny and costly

    • Antipodeanistic says:

I don’t know how to explain to people who’ve never been in a sex-orientated ‘scene’ how it really works, but I’ll give it a try. It’s semi-cultic. It’s not about strict personal preference, that’s the first thing you have to divest from. It’s about connection, social capital, status, and the number/amount of all that that you can accrue through your nasty activities. You have to be able to prosper within that freaky ecosystem if you are ambitious, and that means doing whatever and whoever you have to in order to raise your profile. ‘I banged Fergie the royal or Diddy the magnate’ is currency in that world, no matter what you or I might think of the prospect, aesthetically or emotionally. Refer to Epstein’s obsessive accrual of social capital and blackmail material through decades of degenerate shenanigans. That shit works. It’s all worth something, just not the kind of thing a civilian would appreciate.

All of these people are literally climbing over one another to be seen and gain leverage, socially and commercially. You can always have more, and there’s always more to have, in their minds. Just look at their lives. Nothing is ever enough.

Charles should protect her. But as we know, the married-in’s are disposable. Take note, Kate.

  3. Goldenmom says:

This has to be one of the weirdest stories of the year.

    So many questions.

  4. Miranda says:

    …the f–k?

This sounds like one of those crazy Law & Order: SVU episodes where they try to cram 3 or 4 sordid “ripped from the headlines” plots into a single hour of TV.

  5. tamsin says:

So Lownie is not only wrong about some of the stuff he is currently peddling but also makes up stuff? I’m beginning to wish he would just take a seat and be quiet.

    • Sure says:

Couldn’t agree more, Tamsin. He peddles the wildest stories for profit and is satisfied that a story is true simply because someone told him the story. The man is shamelessly unethical.

    • BeanieBean says:

And how does that work, exactly? He writes–and publishes–a blatant lie, Sarah’s mouthpiece says it’s a blatant lie and…then what? Can she sue? If his defense is no, really, a source close to Diddy told me this–is that good enough? How do they get away with this stuff? Is it that hard to sue for libel?

      • Sure says:

Lownie writes the lie and then wraps it up by saying the subject of the lie denies the story. It’s what he did with the lie about Harry punching Andrew in spite of H’s public statement rejecting every detail of L’s claim.

  6. Brassy Rebel says:

My first reaction was, this is totally made up. But my next reaction was, of all the people in the world Sean Combs could claim to have slept with, why in hell would he choose Fergie? She’s not Diana. And in that top photo she looks like one of Santa’s elves.

  7. Dee(2) says:

This is a really weird story, so I don’t know if this could be true at all. I can see the benefit for her, outside of the last four or five years, he was incredibly powerful and was/is very wealthy and would take care of people who would live within his restrictions.

I don’t see what the benefit would be to him though. She doesn’t seem like his type, from what we’ve observed over the years, and learned from his trial. And, if he was doing it for the status, it would sickingly make more sense for him to go after Beatrice or Eugenie than her. I mean they are the ” blood royals”. What cachet does sleeping with the broke ex of a Prince give you? Some sort of weird misogynistic I had her too thing?

This guy is definitely trying to squeeze everything he can out if this story, and he probably figures Fergie doesn’t have the money to sue him for defamation, and Diddy has bigger fish to fry at present.

  8. Elizabeth says:

I don’t believe for a second that Sean Combs is bragging that he and Fergie were friends with benefits for years. I can believe that someone told Andrew Lownie that, and he thought, “Hmm, what will sell more books?” and put it in the paperback edition.

  9. SummerMoomin says:

I think this is a confusion between Fergie and Fergie. I can totally believe this of Combs and the Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie.

  10. Lili says:

Mmm i have to question Lownie’s motives here, The york girls were just starting their image rehab tour with the announcement of Eugenie’s pregancy by the King, one would have thought the kings people would have had their ears to the ground and feretted out this story before it went to press.

  11. Amy Bee says:

I don’t believe this story is true because why wasn’t it included in the book when it first came out? He tried to include Harry and Melania in the book and was forced to make changes or delete those stories.

  12. Rai says:

This reminds me of all the outlandish and unsubstantiated claims about Combs last year… the more ridiculous the story, the stronger his defense that everyone is looking for a payday.

The timing is weird, I don’t see the benefits for either… unless he was giving her money, neither get elevated by this union. Hip hop isn’t impressed by the BRF and she can’t leverage this for anything. I could absolutely see a one time hookup but ongoing? It doesn’t track.

I do hope she writes the book and goes scorched earth. That’s a book I’d read.

  13. Truthiness says:

I wouldn’t bet a dollar on this being true but a one night stand isn’t out of the question. Diddy did that benefit for Diana, getting a picture with Will and Harry. Sleeping with a Windsor Duchess would be quite a notch on the bedpost.

I remember Diddy was obsessed with trying to get Will and Harry for his parties, maybe he mentioned it on Graham Nort…gaaah, I don’t want to think about it.

  14. Nicki says:

In case it’s helpful, the columns today are much wider than usual and it’s made the posts hard to read. Maybe just on my macbook?

  15. OpheliaAEA says:

    Ew. And ick.

  16. KC2 says:

She’s sleep with anyone with a nickel, and if he was famous and twisted all the better.

  17. Beech says:

    A seven star hotel ?

  18. Visa Diva says:

I don’t think she’s his type. He likes women to be young and at a place in their career where he can control (abuse) them.

    • Marcia says:

I agree. She’s not young enough, not attractive enough (at least in terms of the type he tends to like) and not malleable enough. Even if things started 20-some-odd years ago. She would have been in her 40s then. Way too old for him.

  19. Jferber says:

It’s clear that no one is protecting Fergie at any palace, and certainly not her ex-husband. Does Andrew have the clout to kill this story if he were so inclined?

  20. Jferber says:

I don’t believe this (although Princess Margaret did sleep with Mick Jagger, according to sources). I kind of believe that? But no to Diddy and Fergie.

  21. Thinking says:

I would not have believed this a decade ago, but now anything seems possible.

I’m sort of wondering why people wouldn’t believe it, considering all of what is known now about Sarah. She’ll do anything for anything random that makes no sense. Maybe Diddy being interested in Fergie is where I find the story somewhat unbelievable (but who knows — men aren’t predictable) , but she seems willing to do anything for her own weird reasons.

  22. bisynaptic says:

Is item 2 related to item 1? Is the British royal family, presented with the implied threat of Fergie‘s going public, putting a target on her back, the only way they know how, by associating her with a notorious Black person?

  23. Chantal1 says:

What a way to stomp on Eugenie’s happy news. CLownie lies constantly but like most RRs, will occasionally reveal some nuggets of truth. At first I thought “No way” but then…
Predators know how and whom to target, and the Epstein predators/PDF files were drawn to each other and “partied” together (and likely still do). Info is power, esp if it can be used as leverage. Predators like Ep and Diddy knew this and used their “parties” for networking, trafficking, abuse, r@pe and esp blackmail material since their many residences were revealed to be wired for video.

Fergie seemed to have several rich male friends who apparently helped her monetarily. Were they all friends with benefits? And why would anyone make up a story about these two? If Fergie and Diddy had met at a party thrown by Ghislane, where was the party held? Are there any photos? And does anyone believe this was by accident? Bc it sounds like a set up. But as usual with the BM, there are few details to authenticate the story. And Diddy allegedly said (paraphrasing) that he was waiting for the York princesses to turn 18 -he’d allegedly met one or both princesses. I really hope this story isn’t true bc that is disgusting, but the Yorks repeatedly brought their girls around Ep. Diddy definitely would have seen how money hungry Fergie was and predators are good at exploiting people and testing boundaries. After all, she’s been caught trying to sell access to Andrew. Diddy was also trying to get close to Diana’s boys by throwing that benefit party in her name. Having sex with a royal adjacent and possibly future access to Fergie’s royal daughters and other members of the BRF would have given him bragging rights and leverage.
