Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s 2026 Wedding Spectacular is happening today. Last night was reportedly the rehearsal dinner, but if we learn at some point that they had a quiet civil service a few days ago, I would not be surprised. Still, today’s event is the big one. The Krispy Kreme donut tower is in place, the bangs are being dealt with, the groom is being waxed, the chicken tenders are in the fryer and 1000 wedding guests are headed to Madison Square Garden this afternoon. Taylor heard the complaints about her wedding castle though, and her team sent this out:
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding is beginning to take shape — but the two aren’t building a castle inside Madison Square Garden, contrary to some reports.
Insiders tell PEOPLE that although the iconic New York City venue looks “transformed,” the famous couple, who is expected to tie the knot imminently, is not building a castle inside.
“Not a castle but it looks very special,” one source tells PEOPLE exclusively. “They have grass, carpets and canopies, and it looks like a place where you’d get married. There’s a stage set up, but it’s special.”
A second source confirmed that Swift and Kelce will not have a castle inside MSG. “Absolutely not,” they say. “There’s no castle being built. Not at all.”
On Wednesday, July 1, another source told PEOPLE that MSG looks “transformed” after staff worked through the night to set up the upcoming event. They added, “I’ve never seen it look so different.”
“There’s no castle being built. Not at all.” I’m absolutely sure Team Swift is being pedantic. “It’s not a castle, it’s a wedding PALACE!” “It’s actually more of a disco-party at Barbie’s Dream House!” “It’s more like a woodland fairy village which resembles a castle!”
Meanwhile, on the eve of their wedding, Taylor and Travis donated $26 million (her lucky number 13 times 2) to at least twenty charities. TNT sent out a list, probably with the hope that their fans would donate as a wedding present (which is sooo smart). The list includes: City Harvest NYC, Food Bank For NYC, New York Cares, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Harvesters – The Community Food Network, The Store, Helping Harvest, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Feeding America, ASPCA, Dolly Parton”s Imagination Library, Grammy In The Schools, Education Through Music, Answer The Call, Musical Mentors, After-School All- Stars (NY and OH), MSK Kids and Children’s Mercy Hospital, among others. That’s truly lovely.
Update: for what it’s worth, Page Six says that Tay and Travis got married a few days ago. I assume that was the civil ceremony.

They just donated 26 million dollars to charities across the country. I’m retiring my side eye at the MSG party. Go with love.
This also likely establishes where they will direct their guests to donate instead of gifts as well as if any of their fans want to donate. Some of the charities reported getting fan donations after the news.
They also included charities local to the places they have lived and where the majority of their wedding guests likely come from. For example, if you are family friend that knew Taylor as a child then you have a local Reading, PA option.
It’s this part for me. Choosing MSG and NYC means a the support and build labor associated with this wedding is union and (for non-union roles, like the security and services staffs) fairly compensated and most paid overtime for working today and $26M in charitable donations with the effective direction of fans and guests to direct any gifts there is just brilliant. Thats a lot of salaries, a lot of overtime/bonuses, and a lot of charitable donations.
I don’t fault anyone for having or getting the dream wedding they’d like, if they can afford it and do it ethically and as sustainably as possible. Creating jobs and income, doing it with the smallest footprint possible and offsetting the rest with real, not symbolic donations to deserving charities is ok by me.
And, shade fully intended…This is so, so much better than the garish Bezos wedding and similar ones that shut down entire cities, exploit as much labor as possible to get the biggest result in the fastest time, and then leave it all behind to get cleaned up. MSG is both self-contained and used to hosting/resetting cleanly and efficiently for major events.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve already made arrangements with city food banks to donate any leftover food – since included in the recent donations are in fact to a couple of those NYC food banks.
City Harvest will have their trucks backed up to MSG within minutes of the event ending.
I can’t decide which i’d want more, Barbie Dream House Disco or Woodland Fairy Village!

I’ve seen so many people complaining that the $26 million isn’t enough but honestly people – can’t we just be happy these charities presumably all got around a million bucks over this? City Harvest confirmed a $1million gift, I think FBNYC got the same.
My friends who work in nonprofit tell me that the amounts received can conceivably keep an org running for a couple of years without having to do any other fundraising (although of course an org never stops fundraising). This is huge for these organizations.

It sounds like each donation is around $1M – so which NFPs does your friend have in mind that can stay running for several years on this? City Harvest NYC at the top of the list has expenses over $200M annually.

Short episode, it was all soccer talk. Will’s zoom background was clean except for ornamental (metal?) pine cones that looked like oversized butt plugs for Peg. Zero wedding talk, it was G rated, formal, it wasn’t even entertaining soccer talk. Harry does such great interviews and his brother just doesn’t.
Once Will was gone …Jason brought up the time during the Revolutionary War that the Crown hired German Hessian forces who were allegedly brutal to the point of cannibalism. (he said baby eaters, don’t quote me) So yay Jason got his anti-British-monarchy licks in again.

I respect her for donating and they all seem like worthwhile organizations. Albeit very safe and non-controversial choices. It’d be cool if she donated to organizations that helped women, LGBTQ people, minorities, the environment, etc, especially when federal funding is being slashed for those causes. But she’s always been very cautious and PR-conscious. (Maybe she donates privately.)
I suspect she does support those charities on the LD but right now she has to make nice with Travis’s fan base too. In any case food charities mostly support women, children, and marginalized communities. The reputable ones aren’t checking immigration status. So while “safe” in name they are also helping the communities who need it most.

The price tag will likely be around the money she donated. She doesn’t have to worry about Travis’s fans she has tons of money.

it’s a large sum but it is the equivalent of $1,900 for someone of my income which is less than I donate each year. so im happy for the charities but im not really impressed either.

My husband and I did a private ceremony ahead of our religious ceremony albeit for less glamorous reasons — I was about to lose my health insurance through my dad, and marrying my husband 4 months ahead of our wedding ceremony meant I kept my.coverage.
We told very few people as his brothers would have had jokes all through the actual big day and to this day we celebrate thst one just for us and the other with well wishes from family and friends.

The “she should donate more” comments always annoy me because she’s not swimming in a money pit like Scrooge McDuck, that billion+ dollars is mostly made up of the estimated value of her masters and other related work, which she just worked hard to get back and deserves ownership of.
Even Mackenzie Scott who is swimming in that much money with promises to give it all to charity is thoughtful and measured in the where/when/how much. Let’s face it, a lot of charities aren’t set up to manage a huge cash infusion and it would be ripe for fraud and abuse. I suspect wise philanthropy is a complex beast. That also means Tay and Mackenzie probably have some truly savvy and ethical people on staff who they actually listen to.

Dolly Parton just posted a lovely video congratulating them on their marriage and thanking them for a 2 million dollar donation to the Imagination Library. I am sick of the wedding coverage, too, but they made substantial donations to many charities AND are knocking the tangerine terror out of the headlines. Until we fix the tax code and eliminate the billionaire class, at least she doesn’t hoard all her wealth. She seems to pay living wages and makes substantial donations to charity. Stay safe out there and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Well, it’s great that she donated. However, I think billionaires should be taxed appropriately. Proper taxation would likely do more good than relying on charities here and there, especially given that some foundations can function as tax shelters because of how they are structured and taxed.
I also don’t believe billionaires should exist in the first place. We’ve seen examples, such as Elon Musk, where immense wealth can translate into significant influence over government and public policy. This isn’t limited to one political side; many billionaires use their wealth to shape politics and institutions.
So, while it’s commendable that she gives to charity, I would prefer a system in which wealthy individuals are taxed appropriately in the first place.
ITA, but to be fair she did put some effort into saving us from an oligarchy by registering young voters at her shows and making a very highly sought after and widely reported on endorsement. She can’t solve all our programs for us. Sometimes we have to vote too.
The system is off when there has to be reliance on rich people to do these things. Because even in this second gilded age, the elites are far stingier and it is the causes of their choice that benefit.

According to local news stations, they have brought their own additional security. Has also been stated that the police presence is no more than would be provided for other big events at MSG. And the event will pay for the overtime costs of the police officers. People also reports that now that arrivals are over, Seventh Ave. has been reopened to traffic. Perhaps there’s been no backlash because the predictions of disruption were way overblown. But feel free to think what you like.

So, here’s a lovely related bit: I head up my church’s pantry and meal deliveries program, and over the past week (so even before this $26M announcement), we’ve actually received around a dozen donations where the “in honor of” memo mentioned Taylor and Travis’s wedding. A friend who does similar work for her synagogue has had a few of these as well. Taylor is known for donating to food banks at every tour stop, so I guess some Swifties wanted to celebrate her wedding by doing the same. I’m not sure if it’s part of a larger coordinated effort, but it’s such a thoughtful gesture, especially coming from a fandom that doesn’t necessarily have the best reputation.

That’s awesome! I’ve been a huge fan of Taylor’s from the start, but I haven’t really engaged with other fans online in many years because, well, that unsavory reputation. Maybe it’s time for me to rethink that position. In the meantime, I guess I’ll join in. Made a donation to City Harvest, plus $13 from my stepdaughter and $87 from me is going to Planned Parenthood in the happy couple’s honor (OK, a Planned Parenthood donation in honor of someone’s marriage does kinda sound like shade, but I swear it isn’t in this case, lol. Love it! I’m sure the stories will come pouring out eventually, but I did see a cute story about how Trav and Adam developed a friendship during Happy Gilmore 2. On the surface, it doesn’t scream “officiate my wedding,” but it’s such an NYC specific twist.
