Prince Harry plans to visit the UK ‘every few months’ ahead of the Invictus Games

In the past two or three years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex regularly update certain members of the British and American press. The Sussexes’ communications team has their own little mini-royal rota, with hand-picked journalists and outlets getting briefings. That blew up in Australia, when the Daily Mail broke an embargo, publishing advance details of Harry and Meghan’s visit. The Mail’s Richard Eden also devoted a column to crying about how he wasn’t included in the WhatsApp group. Why am I bringing this up? Because the Times of London got an interesting series of updates about Harry, and I’m pretty sure the updates are actually coming from Harry’s team. Some highlights from a new piece published on Saturday:

Harry plans to visit the UK more often: The Duke of Sussex will return “more and more” to the UK over the next year after his successful family reunion with the King last month. Prince Harry, 41, is set to visit Britain “every few months” and will return in September for about a week. He will undertake a series of engagements with WellChild, the charity supporting seriously ill children of which he is patron, and the Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham next summer. No decision has yet been made on whether the Duchess of Sussex or their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, will travel from California to join Harry during the visit.

The Highgrove summit: It was the first time the King, 77, who is still receiving cancer treatment, had seen his Californian grandchildren for more than four years and the first time Meghan had stayed in the UK since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022. No details or pictures were released of the reunion, but sources close to Harry said he was “buoyed, very happy and really energised” afterwards.

Why does Harry want to visit the UK more often? It is understood that Harry wants to spend more time in the UK for several reasons. He wants to try to see his father and wider family more frequently, and also feels he can more effectively support his UK-based charities and patronages, including the Halo Trust and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, with more regular in-person engagements and meetings.

A source close to Harry has spoken: A source close to Harry said: “The template for his visits has been working well, so the frequency of trips will increase, especially in the run-up to Invictus which he’s determined to make the best games yet. So he’ll be coming back and forth a lot more, every few months. The way the wind is blowing, he’s going to want to be here more and more. He’s happy these trips can now have more focus on the patronages and be less obscured by the other nonsense. He wants more of a foothold here, more trips back, less courtroom drama. And he always loves seeing his family.”

He wants to visit Ukraine again: The prince is also hoping to return to Ukraine in the coming months. He has visited the country twice in the past two years to support those wounded in the war with Russia.

Will King Charles meet Harry next month? The King is expected to be at Balmoral in Scotland on his summer break next month when Harry returns, and it is not known whether they plan to meet again. Sources close to Harry said that no decision has yet been made on whether he will stay at Buckingham Palace during his visit.

An update on the Daily Mail lawsuit: It is understood that Harry is waiting for a final decision on costs before deciding whether to appeal against the judgment.

[From The Times]

The bad news: the more often Harry travels to the UK, the more opportunity he gives his father and brother to act like jackasses. The good news: if Harry regularly visits the UK four times a year or so, his brother will completely lose what’s left of his mind. Like, full-on, frothing-at-the-mouth breakdown. I have to wonder if these updates are being completely filtered through the Times’ anti-Sussex agenda as well, but I guess that’s the price of doing business. It sounds more like Harry’s team was like: of course he’s visiting in September, as he does every year and he’d like to do more often. I would also guess that Harry plans to tack on a trip to Ukraine after his visit to the UK next month, which is what he did last year too. That was his first time visiting Kyiv and he got loaded down with all kinds of gifts. When he went to Ukraine earlier this year, Ukrainians had him signing copies of Spare!!

I believe this is totally BS. Harry or his team won’t call him meeting his father ‘successful’. Between the one year to go and the event, his presence is mostly virtual on SM. Why would this change? When you read the main arguments, it’s no more than known fact or speculation. Since when not named sources talk to the press about Harry’s private matter.

    • SaraSwenton says:

Its clickbait and nothing more. Carte Blanche for tabloids to make up things. They can use the “a source said” to create any story they want.

    • bisynaptic says:

I agree. I doubt sources close to Harry are speaking anonymously to The Times.

  2. SaraSwenton says:

Ppl need to stop giving creedence to this coverage. “A source” is just a made up thing to get ppl to click on Brit Media stories that are complete fiction. it exhausting

    Wishful thinking.

  4. Eurydice says:

Now comes the scramble to fill William’s calendar.

    • BeanieBean says:

Exactly my thought. Both Billy Boy & Katiekins will be scrambling setting up appearances & outings, and the best part? If this is all made up? It’ll be for naught! Ha! Extra work when they’ve been getting by with less and less by the year.

  5. Tessa says:

Doubt he will stay at Buckingham palace

  6. Amy Bee says:

Hmm…I’m not sure Roya Nikkhah has any real concrete information about Harry’s visits except that he will be visit September which was known before he even left the UK last month and perhaps IG confirmed that he will be in the UK a few months before the games. I don’t think they’re discussing future visits to Ukraine in the press. How are they talking about Harry’s feelings about his family meeting with his father with no rancour but Meghan supposedly saying she had a nice visit to the UK was crossing the line?

    • Nic919 says:

Nikkah only knows what the palace knows. They are writing about Harry again because they can’t mention the tax payer funded ones are on tax payer funded holidays for the fourth or fifth time this year.

    • sunniside up says:

Buckingham palace released the information about the visit the next day, authorised by the King.

  7. Kingston says:

So heart warming to see so many sensible commenters putting this story in the bin where it belongs.

  8. Jane says:

I’d say not from them, for multiple reasons, but the most glaring is it’s not called Scotty’s Little Soldiers anymore. His team would not make that mistake.

  9. Jais says:

If true, cue the smelling salts for William

  10. Ken says:

He is my theory, I think that the king really really was surprised how much he enjoyed seeing his grandchildren. I think he would like to see them more. This is gonna be a problem for William ofcourse , 😆😆 if he goes to the UK often, is a good thing and with time it will no longer be a big issue(one will hope) . Cannot wait to see him in Birmingham I will be there.

  11. Louise177 says:

I don’t understand why this site is claiming Harry leaked this article. None of this is new. It’s the same stuff that the tabloids have been claiming since the last visit. Besides Harry visits England 2-3 times a year anyway. It’s always framed around court but he always visits charities when he comes.

  12. tamsin says:

Why would Harry announce an Ukraine trip? There’s a security issue involved. I think The Guardian was invited the last time, but that was not known until the story was published.

  13. Texas Hold 'Em says:

This is just Clarence House trying to goad Bulliam and Waity to look more busy.

  14. QuiteContrary says:

I admit that I hope this is true because I want William to be worried.

    His Harry conniptions are hilarious.

  15. Jferber says:

QuiteContrary, yes, when William is worried, he works (the “more” is kind of superfluous, no?) William has more passion for hating and hurting Harry than anything else in his life, now or in the future. His biggest emotion is rage, which comes from entitlement. All of the fawning and capitulation to William has made him less and less likely and able to be a king. William will soft-abdicate by doing next to nothing, besides collecting all the money that is his “due” for being born first.

  16. Jay says:

I highly doubt that this is directly from a Sussex source, but it could possibly be a Charles source! I could see the monarch wanting to put the wind up his workshy heir with the threat of Harry looming all year long.

Even if there’s no definitive date for a Harry visit beyond September, if there’s even a remote possibility of Harry coming round, William might actually have to attempt as many as two events per week and will have much less energy for plotting against Charles.

If it’s true that the Sussexes have a place in Portugal that Harry could use as a base, he could conceivably pop in for a weekend or a day. And if, as in the previous visit, Charles agrees not to let the Wales or the press leak ahead of time, I could see him quite enjoying keeping William in the dark.

  17. AsEverJam says:

If true, more frequent visits may take the novelty out of Harry’s visits so they’re not such a circus. I think everyone benefits from that, even William, if he could but see it.

    • L4Frimaire says:

William is the head clown in this circus. He’s so fricking annoying.

      • Chrissy says:

Also, as long as he continues acting like a jackass, he looks more obsessed and more deranged as time goes by! Someone needs to tell him how pathetic he looks and to grow up and get back to work! Meanwhile, Harry ‘s just living his life and helping others! Who’s the better man? Not the other brother!

  18. L4Frimaire says:

Hopefully Harry will keep the details as close to his chest as possible. Also hope Meghan is on one of the visits because she has every right to be there with him. They should get a pied à terre or at least an office lease if he’ll be there more. that would probably drive the press on a crazy witch hunt though. I hate how every time he goes there, for his own legitimate business reasons, the press try to make it all about the royal family and the stupid half in/half out narrative. RAVEC will be on the same BS as usual.
