Megan Thee Stallion filed for a restraining order against Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion on July 12, 2020. He shot her feet while telling her to “dance, bitch.” In 2022, Lanez was finally convicted of the felony shooting, and in 2023, he was sentenced to ten years in prison. In the months and years following the shooting, Tory waged one of the worst gaslighting campaigns I’ve ever seen. Tory and his allies spread rumors about Megan, they called her a liar, they attacked her friends and family, they paid off people to lie about Megan. It was insane, and it’s still f-king happening, even though Tory has been locked up for more than a year. Well, Megan has had enough. She’s just filed a restraining order against Tory because he and his family are still defaming her.

Tory Lanez being in prison isn’t stopping his harassment of Megan Thee Stallion … at least according to her, so, now she’s back in court to battle him once again. Megan filed a request for a restraining order Tuesday, detailing for the judge several months of abuse she’s endured from Tory … who, of course, is serving a 10-year sentence in California for shooting at Megan’s feet back in 2020.

According to the docs, Megan says Tory’s got an army of bloggers who he employs to spread defamatory statements about her — including a woman named Elizabeth Milagro Cooper, who Meg actually sued a couple months ago.

In her new filing, Meg says prison phone call logs prove a “conspiratorial relationship” between Tory and Elizabeth. She says the calls include a convo between Tory and his father, who asked about payments to Cooper for harassing Megan.

Megan says Tory’s continued “psychological warfare” against her has ruined her life and thrown her into a deep depression — one that’s left her estranged from friends. While she doesn’t say she’s suicidal, Megan does say she sometimes wishes Tory “would have shot and killed me, if I would have known I was going to go through this torture.”

Tory is appealing his conviction, and Meg says he continues to make false claims about her as part of his efforts to get out of prison. She’s asking the court to issue a restraining order that would force Tory to stop contacting, harassing, or intimidating her — whether directly or through third parties.

Updated by TMZ: Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Megan Thee Stallion’s legal team has more proof connecting Tory and the blogger who’s been bashing MTS. We’re told they’ve obtained financial records of a handful of payments Tory’s father allegedly made to Elizabeth Milagro Cooper between October 2020 and March 2022, and totaling $3,000. We’re told Megan’s attorneys will bringing receipts to court … for the restraining order case, and also for the lawsuit she filed against Cooper.

[From TMZ]

Lanez has been doing this the whole time, working with/paying bloggers to spread defamatory lies about Megan. Although I’ll just say, from what I’ve seen for years, there was a real willingness by many men in the music industry to take Tory’s side and defend him. There were so few people standing up for Megan or protecting her in any way. She’s spoken about how alone she’s felt as she’s tried to get justice. I feel so sorry for her. There are a few women who have made a point of having her back (Cardi, GloRilla, Beyonce), but she’s lost a lot of friends in the past five years.

Under the jail indeed. Throw the book at him again.

This is so infuriating. I am so sorry Megan is still going through this. She is such a beautiful, talented soul. It saddens me how many in the music industry have stood idly by while this happens. There’s a right and a wrong here. There’s no gray area. Hang in there Megan.

I don’t think people know right from wrong anymore (eg trump and his cronies). This should be clear cut, so I have no idea how getting shot is somehow debatable or alright to some.

America. I am a resident of Europe. Shootings in the USA affect my psyche a little differently than those in Europe, for example. I treat them more and more as something obvious. Those in European countries still shock me. Still, because they are still a rarity. But they may also cease to be one day.

      • SIde Eye says:

You are so right Mimi. I really hate this timeline.

Those bloggers also attacked Jay-Z and Beyonce because they got Meghan under their protection. A lot of online hate and conspiracies about them started to get traction at the same time as Megan conspiracies. I can’t believe she is still fighting this sh*t. I hope he spends rest of his sentence with no contact to outside world. Otherwise, he won’t stop. His father should get sued as well.

People like Tory Lanez should receive extra time for everything they’ve done to their victims, once it can be proven.

I am disgusted by all the bloggers badmouthing victims, be it Megan Thee Stallion, like in this case, or the Derangers and rota 🐀🐀🐀 lying and making excuses for the mental abuse Duchess Meghan has to endure.

I think there should be some sort of law that penalizes this kind of organized harassment and lying. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences.

    • Christine says:

Well said. There has to be consequences for sustained, years-long abuse via third parties. I really don’t know how Meghan and Megan deal with it, I am certain I am not that strong.

  5. Bumblebee says:

Freedom isn’t free when people use it to hurt others. Really need to start identifying and charging the individuals in these internet mobs.

  6. Jais says:

Get ‘em! I hope this harassment can come to an end for her at some point.

  7. Vuyelwa Ncube says:

Patriarchy in action, as I always say it’s the foot soldiers (women) that keep it going

  8. Izzy says:

I hope she bankrupts the father and the blogger.

  9. JFerber says:

I saw her documentary and I felt so sorry for her. Definitely defamation and that little twerp made a phone call apologizing to her and admitting he was drunk out of his mind when he shot her (no excuse). That was recorded and is the only evidence needed to know he did this. What a misogynistic culture to rip Megan apart for being a VICTIM of a shooter. Also, referring to the recent charge against Mangione, why wasn’t Lanez charged with terrorism too. Megan has only and always benefited society with her talent and charisma. Stay strong, Megan. You absolutely are a glorious woman who has been defamed by many.

  10. Walking the Walk says:

I really don’t get why so many people said she should have stayed lying for him. This man is awful. I hope she gets the restraining order.

    • sevenblue says:

Didn’t he start attacking her after she lied to protect him? He was defaming her in order to turn the public against her in case she changed her mind.

I think the thing that should stand out most to everyone is that you can be talented, successful, with a net worth in the tens of millions, you can be a big industry name that’s sought after by other artists, and if you’re a black woman, it still isn’t enough. You will still have to fight like a dog every step of the way for the barest scrap of justice and dignity. You will spend your life paying for the choice to stand up for yourself against a man with a fraction of the success and profile that you have. The men around you will turn on you. The women will act against you.

And isn’t that the most depressing thing any of us could read all day.

  12. Anon @ Work says:

What that leprechaun and all his little supporters put Megan through is unforgivable. Imagine getting shot and everyone gets mad @ YOU for rightfully putting him behind bars. 10 years in jail is nothing compared to what he really deserves.
