Orlando Bloom & Miranda Kerr “secretly wed” one month after getting engaged

Almost exactly one month after announcing their engagement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr were “secretly” married in a hush-hush ceremony in… I’m not sure. Their reps confirmed that they got married, but no details were given. It sounds a bit like they did it in Australia, which is Miranda’s home country.

That was fast. Just a month after their engagement was confirmed, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have gotten married.

The model, 27, and the British actor, 33, are now on their honeymoon, Kerr reveals in a statement explaining why she’s canceling an appearance at the Australian department store David Jones.

“David Jones very graciously released me during this period so we could celebrate an intimate ceremony and honeymoon together,” Kerr says in the statement. “I’m very much a part of the David Jones Family and I am very committed to my role. I am enormously grateful to David Jones to have been given this time to enjoy such a special moment in my life.”

Last year, when the two spent Thanksgiving together in Morocco, Bloom told reporters he and Kerr were “just enjoying our time together now” when asked if they were getting married anytime soon.

It all sounds so sudden, so… strange. And before everyone gets up in arms with the Bump Watch, just know that when they got engaged last month, Miranda answered the “So are you knocked up already?” questions with a definitive “NO.” I don’t think she’s ready to give up her modeling career, or take it down a notch, so it will probably be a little while before they try for a family. No, my theory on why they got hitched so fast: Orly wanted to nail that sh-t down. I think he’s totally in love and he didn’t want to take any chances that she would get second thoughts on marrying a dirt-lip.

  1. gabs says:

Congrats to Mr and Mrs Kerr.

I agree he probably wanted to lock it down. He’ll never do better. Shes sooo pretty. His heartthrob reign is long over and the acting career not so great but at least he has a supermodel wife.

  2. celandine says:

I would say, “Who cares?”, but I just love that she got the name of the department store into her press release THREE times. This girl knows what she gets paid for!

  3. snappyfish says:

    Well Done.

  4. bite me says:

he is so much prettier than her, anyway congrats to the newlyweds

  5. Marianne says:

A Big congrats to the happy couple. And good on them for doing it secretly, and not having like People plaster exclusive shots all over the web…

  6. Sarah says:

My heart is broken now 🙁

  7. jones says:

Congrats to them. Boring couple though.

  8. Schozzle says:

Is this really a case of “keeping it secret” or just knowing that no one gives a shit about him anymore?

  9. meme says:

    Who married who?

  10. Lara says:

I saw them together once in a pub in London. They were both seriously hot and just couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Urgh it made me sick (with jealousy!)

  11. N.D. says:

I dont’ know what do you mean about “so fast”. Long engagement makes sense when it comes short after people meet and/or fell in love but they were together for a few years, why whould they wait even longer now that they are finally ready to make it official?

Plus it seems they didn’t want a big splashy wedding so there were no need for months of preparation. Not to mention that the day they annonced their engagement wasn’t nessecarily the day they entered it.

  12. hanh says:

I kinda always though that Orlando was gay and that this was a showmance. I still do as people get married, even have kids in Hollywood to protect their secret life. Something about them seems more “friends” than “lovers”.

  13. melina says:

Congrats! I think he is more attractive than her. She’s gorgeous, of course, but there’s something on her face that I don’t like, I can’t say exactly what.
And what’s going on with his career? He used to be one of the most hopeful actors and then it just died out!

  14. Brooke says:

    @melina: it’s hobbit face.

  15. Schozzle says:

“And what’s going on with his career?”

    Everyone realized he can’t act?

  16. Gwen says:

Congrats! I think they make a cute couple and I like that they married in private.

Also I hope Kate Bosworth is crying somewhere.

  17. Angelina says:

There is something off about her face. It’s like all of her features are scrunched up into just one area of her face. I just don’t see why people go on and on about how pretty she is. She looks like an effin’ snail! I am not really an Orlando fan.

  18. Obvious says:

I still adore Orli. Not as much as I did during his Legolas and the first POTC, but still adore him. Congrats to him and Miranda-I wish them well.

And what’s wrong with a long engagement? My boyfriend of 6 years and I agreed that when we get engaged we want an longer engagement a year or so-to make sure we have everything settled, money jobs everything. Just because we’re ready to make the commitment doens’t mean our finances and everything else are.

Speaking of long lost hotties-what’s going on with Josh Hartnett these days???

  19. melina says:

You guys, if Keanu Reeves can have a career and Gwyneth and Julia can have an Oscar, I’m sure Orlando can too!
He’s not award-worthy, obviously, but he’s cute enough! lol

  20. LolaBella says:

    Congrats to them.

I think I’ll be watching LoTR this weekend just for the pretty elfin Legolas. Le Sigh.

  21. Madison says:

Congratulations. I think it’s a shotgun wedding and that’s why she can’t really appear at the department store, she’s pregnant.

  22. Mistral says:

Congrats to the happy. Finally, Orlando gets married. He’s been a serial monogamist for a long time, and I’m pretty sure he was engaged to some English hottie before he got huge as Legolas. So, I guess now that he is in his early 30s he is finally matured and ready to go through with it. They are both really pretty.

  23. Jeri says:

I’m surprised, I thought he was one with the Hobbits. You just never know.

  24. Beth says:

Just because they announced their engagement a month ago doesn’t mean that’s when they got engaged. They may have been engeged for months and planned a small wedding. I doubt Kate Bosworth is crying considering she’s dating the hot guy from True Blood.

  25. Dhavy says:

yeah Kate Bosworth (who IMO is so annoying, can’t act, and dresses horrible) might be dating a hot guy but she’s not the one getting married.

Miranda’s not that pretty and she changed her hair color to a darker one which makes her look way thinner than usual but who am I to say anything? I’m no VS model, LOL

He sure likes them real thin doesn’t he?

  26. KLaw says:

WOW what a beautiful, smiling couple. Huge congratulations to them!

  27. fredo says:

She’s ugly and he can’t act. They married.
Let’s hope they’ll start a family and stay the f*ck out of the public eye.
    Nobody will even notice.

  28. Tyeson katz says:

I have it on very good authority that she is up the duff around 3 months. I am a Sydney resident.
