John Travolta and Kelly Preston welcomed their third child, a healthy 8 lb., 3 oz boy named Benjamin, on Tuesday in their home state of Florida. Travolta, 56, and Preston, 48, are also parents to daughter Ella Bleu, 10. They tragically lost their 16 year-old son, Jett, in January of last year after he suffered a fatal seizure.

John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston are parents to son Benjamin, who was born Tuesday in a Florida hospital.

The baby weighed 8 lbs., 3 oz.

“John, Kelly and their daughter Ella Bleu are ecstatic and very happy about the newest member of the family,” they say in a statement. “Both mother and baby are healthy and doing beautifully.”

Preston, 48, told PEOPLE recently that the entire family was in major preparation mode for their new addition as her pregnancy neared its end.

“I’ve been cleaning out everything in the house,” Preston said in September. “Ella has been helping too. She’s looking forward to being a big sister.”

[From People]

There’s been plenty of speculation that Kelly is somehow “faking” her pregnancy while she’s secretly using a surrogate. I think those stories are untrue and frankly pretty mean, although I wouldn’t doubt that Kelly used an egg donor. (Let’s face it, the rumors are based on a blind item, one photo of pregnant Kelly leaning against a counter, and claims about John’s orientation, primarily by one guy who is shilling a book.) Last week’s National Enquirer had a speculative story wondering who the egg donor could be, but it didn’t seem based on any solid information and just offered a bunch of other high profile female Scientologists, like Jenna Elfman and Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter Riley Keough, 21, as possibilities. It’s just as likely that Kelly hired an egg donor who shared her physical characteristics.

Congratulations to John and Kelly on their new arrival! This is touching news and they must be overjoyed. I bet Ella is going to be a huge help to her mom with the new baby.

  2. Arianna says:

she amazes me every time i see her
    she is stunning!!

  3. tiki says:

i never believed in the fake pregnancy scenario. the number of people who would’ve had to have been in on the deception is mindboggling. for instance, there was a fairly recent photo of the travoltas with their friends, the spielbergs. the spielbergs have a bunch of kids. wouldn’t they have noticed a fake bump? or, if they were in on the deception, why would they allow themselves to be photographed with the travoltas? i say, let the family be. god bless and be happy.

  4. bellaluna says:

Congrats to them. Let the new baby’s silent treatment commence.

  5. Jackson says:

Shhhh!!! The baby might hear you!

Benjamin? Wasn’t this the name the Enquirer or some such mag said the name would be in an exclusive JT interview? I keep wondering why he would have given them an exclusive, especially on something so personal. Hmmm.

Congrats to all of them, though.

  6. Courtney says:

congrats to them I bet Ben is an adorable little guy. and so what he arrived a couple of days early it’s not dangerous Kelly was passed full term and mother and baby are both healthy and Happy which is all that matters

  7. Anaya says:

I’m really happy for John and Kelly. I don’t mean to stir up anything but I thought that Kelly was in L.A. awaiting Benjamin’s arrival. I know they also have a home in Florida but I could’ve sworn I read that John flew from Australia to California to be there for the birth. Maybe I read an incorrect report. But again, congrats to them! 🙂

  8. aenflex says:

    Zemu will helpt too! Yay!

  9. fabgrrl says:

I’ve doubted the pregnancy, and I doubt the marriage. But I do not doubt that the Travoltas are lovely people and wonderful parents. That is one lucky baby. Congratulations to them.

  10. Hollowdoll says:

I agree with fabgrrl. I wish them the best but IMO something is definitely off in that relationship.

  11. mln says:

Welcome baby Benjamin I hope you are healthy!!!

I think the fake pregnancy story is funny but improbable. She probably had some eggs stored just in case she ever needed them. But I will say women in their late 40’s can have babies even without IVF. My grandmother’s good friend had her first born at 48 a long time before science could help her out.

  12. OtherChris says:

Let’s just hope the kid is healthy and that they don’t screw him up too much with all that scientology BS.

  13. Stronzilla says:

Okay, I’m tired of everyone tiptoeing around this one so I’m just going to say it. Wasn’t she due next week? And wasn’t she in California? How did she get to Florida all of a sudden, unless that’s where they planned to rendezvous upon his flight in from Austrialia with the new baby on board (he has the capability and space to land any of his planes directly at their home there, even the Qantas one). And lastly, how gullible are we supposed to be to believe that she just happened to give birth to coincide with Thanksgiving. Fasten your seatbelts and wait for the barrage of public relations to distract everyone away from the Spafia Bathhouse Chronicles.

  14. Jayna says:

Lovely couple, who are always gracious and kind. They’ve been though a lot, and this will be a joyous holiday season for them with a new little life in their household.

  15. mojoman says:

wait a second, i thought she was on bedrest? from what I know (I have 2 kids) when you are past 8 months mostly doctors advised you not to fly (assuming she took a flight to FL) and if she was supposed to be on bedrest there is no way in hell any doctor will let her step out of the room.

  16. Roma says:

How come there are so many pregnancy conspiracy theories about scientology children? I recall a few years ago that dear Kate was accused of pillowing it the final months of her pregnancy so people would think the child was Tom’s and not Chris Klein’s.

That one I almost believe – Suri looks a lot like Chris.

  17. Crash2GO2 says:

Congratulations to them. I wish them all the happiness in the world.

  18. bagladey says:

Congratulations to them, and I wish the whole family happiness and good health, but I still don’t believe that Kelly was pregnant.

  19. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Kelly was due on the 26th. So she had the baby a few days before her due date which is pretty normal. There was never any knowledge of where they were, so I am sure they have a home in Florida, where John keeps a plane.

I never believed that fake pregnancy crap either. I am happy for them and congrats to them. I wish them all the happiness in the world.

  20. Scarlet Vixen says:

I don’t know if she was in CA or FL (don’t care that much about this story). But, I do know that airlines will not let you fly in your 9th month of pregnancy (sometimes they’ll make exceptions if you have paperwork from your doc saying you won’t go into labor). I guess John could fly her to FL, but if she was on bedrest I doubt her doctor would approve that…

My problem with this pregnancy is it really seems like they only had this kid to replace the one they lost, and that’s so not the right reason to have a baby (especially when you’re 48yrs old and the health risks are so much higher).

  21. Cheyenne says:

@Stronzilla: A baby’s “due date” is a ballpark figure. The baby usually arrives within two weeks of the due date either way. So if your due date is December 15, you can expect the baby any time between December 1 and December 31. Very few babies actually arrive on the due date.

@ScarletVixen: Unless she was actually chained to the bed, there is no way her doctor could force her to stay put. And Travolta is a licensed jet pilot. Architectural Digest showcased his house a few years ago and there was the jet parked right in his front yard. He actually had a runway built outside the front door so he wouldn’t have to park the jet at the airport.

  22. devilgirl says:

I guess I am on a slow train, because I am confused as to why people said she was in California, and that she flew to Florida.

As far as I know, they reside, pretty much, full-time in Florida. So, I don’t find it odd that she was there to have their baby/

All this fake preggo stuff amazes me. To me, the woman gained a lot of weight in her face, arms and legs.

  23. Jaxx says:

I fully believe she faked the pregnancy. That baby was cooked in a surrogate. But however he got here he is a new human being on this earth and I wish him the best.

  24. anon says:

I am concerned that no one is going to talk to the baby for a week. I really hope this is wild speculation, I have a hard time believing this. Er is the baby in isolation the entire time? Don’t remember this rumor when Suri was born
    🙁

  25. filthycute says:

    I’m with @Stronzilla!

  26. Jeri says:

Congratulations to the family on the arrival of the Benjamin, it doesn’t matter how he was conceived. Xenu will take care of it.

Kelly would not be flying commercial, she would have John or someone else fly her so no “no-fly” rules would apply to her. She could have a doctor accompany her.

  27. Lizzard says:

I don’t really care if the prgnancy was fake or not. It could have been, who am I to judge, haven’t been around very many pregnant people.

I thought she was pregnant with twins though? OH well, congrats to them1

  28. Kim says:

There are interviews with them 3-4 years ago when they talked about having another baby. They have no reason to lie about surrogacy Hell its the trendy thing to do in Hollywood.

  29. bellaluna says:

The place they live in FL is V-E-R-Y EXCLUSIVE; it’s for people who fly their own planes. In lieu of garages, these homes (estates?) have hangars.

I’ve been pregnant 4 times, had 2 high-risk pregnancies, and my OB wouldn’t let me fly AT ALL during my last pregnancy. I don’t know her story, but I sure don’t have a pilot-husband with his own planes. Different rules apply to those with money.

Congrats to them (again), and good luck to the precious little baby. He’s gonna need it, being raised by people who won’t speak to him for his first 7 days of life.

  30. Welcome to the world baby Benjamin! So happy with this family and they deserve to have a new baby after the loss of their son. God is really good. Wherever their son Jett is now, I’m sure he’s happy too to see his parents having new life with Benjamin. Congratulations!

  31. Ruffian9 says:

Jackson: “Shhhh!!! The baby might hear you!”

    Just what I was thinking!

    Nutbars.

“Let’s just hope the kid is healthy and that they don’t screw him up too much with all that scientology BS.”

    ..already too late.

  32. Bitter fruit says:

He looks like he’s made out of clay, lay off the surgery Travolta.

  33. Linda Guest says:

    Congratulations to the Travoltas.

I think they look great, too. They make beautiful children together.

  34. Linda Guest says:

Also, I envy Kelly with her ability to remain very slim and youthful looking. Its unbelievable that she is 47. She looks 25.
