Jamie Lynn Spears debuts baby Maddie in OK!

Jamie Lynn Spears appears with little Maddie in the next issue of OK! Magazine. It includes the kind of glowing “everything’s great” interview that also includes some details about her day to day life with the baby. OK! reports that Jamie Lynn had a natural birth and didn’t have a c-section as some outlets reported. It also sounds like she nurses her baby, but she only hints at that. I’m only going on what the website has, though, and it’s possible there is more concrete information in the print version.

Around here, everyone has the same focus,” Jamie Lynn tells OK!. “The focus is family, and that’s a good way to live.”

The 17-year-old actress opens up to OK! about everything โ€” from taking parenting classes to life inside the new home she shares with Maddie and boyfriend Casey Aldridge, to her first experience with labor pains.

“They’d told me it would be an eight- to 12-hour labor, and I was ready to have the baby in three to four hours,” Jamie Lynn tells OK!. “I had a perfect pregnancy and a perfect delivery. I was very blessed.”

While the former Zoey 101 star and her fiancรฉ have not yet set a date for their wedding, the couple remains closer than ever. Jamie Lynn, who tells OK! that while her labor was induced, she gave birth naturally and without complications, says that Casey was the one person she wanted in the delivery room with her.

“Once I got in there, my doctor was just so calm and so good it was not bad at all,” she says. “I was just talking to Casey. And you know what’s so weird? I was asking him if he was okay. He was like, ‘Yeah.’ We were both so excited.”

A baby nursery is set up for little Maddie at the other end of the house, but for now her proud parents like having her next to them at night, so she sleeps in a bassinet in the same room as Jamie Lynn and Casey.

“She is very good,” says Jamie Lynn. “She’ll feed every two or three hours. When she wakes up in the middle of the night, I’ll feed her and she goes right back to sleep. There’s no screaming and crying.”

The proud mama continues, “We get up in the morning, and she gets her little bath. Then I get my bath. We have a routine, and I love routines. I’ve worked one out with her, and we’re happy going about our little life.”

[From OK! Magazine]

The baby sure is cute and Jamie seems like a devoted and caring young mother. She’s only 17 but she manages to sound mature in the interview and like she did her best to prepare for motherhood. It’s a great idea to have the baby sleep in the same room with you and we did that when my son was born. We got a lot more sleep than having him in another room.

This week’s National Enquirer reports that Jamie Lynn wasn’t happy with her mom’s deal with OK! for the first photos of Maddie. Lynne made the reported $1 million deal with OK! back when they shockingly announced then 16-year-old Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy in the magazine. Jamie Lynn is said to want to keep Maddie out of the spotlight because she wants to avoid the media circus that surrounds her sister, Britney, and her two sons. It was too late to back out at this point, though, so she did her best with the interview and photo shoot. Jamie Lynn and Lynne are also said to be fighting because Lynne plans to return to LA soon to help Britney.

My gawd, she looks like a well-preserved 40-year-old!

Cute baby though, I would have guessed from looking at it that it’s a boy.

  2. Enonymouse says:

The baby actually looks like Jamie Lynn’ boyfriend. Hope everything goes well for her.

  3. geronimo says:

OMG, what have they done to her?? That pic makes her look about 20 years older than she is. Very pretty girl – why make her look so drab and bland? That hair!!

Sweet baby, hope her media-whoring mother butts out and lets them control their own lives.

  4. Amy says:

“A baby nursery is set up for little Maddie at the other end of the house, but for now her proud parents like having her next to them at night, so she sleeps in a bassinet in the same room as Jamie Lynn and Casey.”

WOW! You mean, they haven’t stuck their weeks-old newborn at the end of the house by herself yet? What incredible parents! Give them an award! ๐Ÿ™„

Oh, and the moral of the story, as suggested by this article is: “Getting knocked up in high school is fun and painless! Oh, and you get lauded on magazine covers for it! Let’s all do it, wheeeee!!!”

  5. Lola says:

I am feeling a bit sick that a teenage mother is going on and on as if nothing is wrong. She makes it sound easy as if any other kid can do it and it will be all fiiiiiiiiiine. I hope they include a note warning teenagers about early motherhood and its perils.

The baby is beautiful, still can’t get over the fact that ‘Zoe’ is a mother.

  6. Anna says:

She looks like she has aged 30 years since we last saw pics of her. Man… poor Jamie Lynn.

  7. gg says:

Her hair just looks like it was colored a too-ashy blonde and when light hits that, green/grey sometimes shows up. Fixable eventually. She looks happy and content. Hope it stays that way.

  8. Chris says:

The Baby is not Caseys! I know this for a fact due to my dad being in the music industry and working with both Jamie Lynne and britneys manager!

  9. Ling says:

That picture is awful. It looks like a picture of my 5-year-old self with my baby brother. For christ’s sake, my first picture with my youngest brother from when I was twelve looked a hundred times more sentimental and natural.

  10. Anna says:

Chris: no shit? Seriously, we already knew. After all those rumours about her banging an older guy started, the jig was up in my opinion. Once mum Lynne gets the paternity test she wants, everybody will know.
Sad, but it’s like that. And it’ll free that irresponsible moron Casey from further responsibilities, which is probably not the worst thing that could happen to little Maddie.
This “he was so great” stuff makes me sick. It’s so fake, all around.

  11. Shane says:

Teenage pregnancy sounds like a dream come true.

I guess all you teenagers know what you’ve got to do now: if one baby is good stuff, imagine how great two or even three out of wedlock babies would be! Get shaggin kids! To heck with college!

  12. Kolby says:

All I can say is YIKES.

  13. Hollz says:

wasn’t she 16 when she announced it, and 17 now?
    Cute kid, hate JL’s Hair!

  14. Syko says:

Awww, the baby’s a little cutie.

    <3 babies!

  15. silentA says:

She looks like Lynne! Her hair is gray.

Its sort of frightening that the “Zoey 101” fanbase is going to read that and see how “easy” it is to have a baby.

  16. Bodhi says:

Look at the cute little baby! She is lucky she gets to take a bath every day. Most mothers I know are pretty lucky if they get that!

I don’t really think she or the magazine are glorifying or advocating teenage pregnancy. I mean, she obviously has it WAY easier than almost every other teenage mom, but her life is still 180 degrees from where it would have been…

    I don’t think I’m expressing myself properly…

  17. Syko says:

Understand you totally, Bodhi, and as usual, agree with you.

  18. vdantev says:

cute little thing- the baby too. No seriously, wow she’s aged about 8 years in a few days.

  19. poopie says:

ONE FUGLY SPAWN ! BLEAGH !! those hillbilly spears just RUN RUN RUN to OK magazine to pimp their ugly kids and fam problems ! they are ALL disgusting!!!

  20. daisy424 says:

Darling baby. Hope she’s ready, it’s a lot of work raising children.

  21. Celebitchy says:

“Hollz: wasnโ€™t she 16 when she announced it, and 17 now?”

OMG you are right! I want her to be at least 18. I will change that.

  22. kelo says:

It’s just wrong at all levels. It’s glorifying the pregnancy of an underaged girl. How many girls around the world will look at the picture and read “how easy it is” and tell themselves it’s OK.

Like it or not, she is/was a role model.

  23. Syko says:

You know, you could claim that the New Testament of the Bible glorifies the pregnancy of an unwed teenage girl, too.

This has happened since the beginning of time. Hormones mature way before intelligence, kids will have sex, and sometimes the girl gets pregnant. It’s not good, it’s not to be encouraged, but it happens and Jamie at least seems to be trying to live with it.

See what being a BADette does to you? I am now reduced to defending a Spears.

  24. Bodhi says:

    ๐Ÿ˜† Syko! Bleeding heart… ๐Ÿ˜€

  25. kate says:

it sure didn’t take long for her to pimp out the kid! and i guess its no surprise that lynn spears is going to LA to help britney; after all, brit is her cash cow. this poor baby doesn’t stand a chance at being normal.

  26. Megan says:

I wish she wouldn’t make being a teenage mother look so fun and easy. Like ‘Oh it’s a breeze! I hardly even notice the baby’s around!’ Erm… hardly. This will just make teen girls think that life goes on as perfectly as it did before. I’m happy that she’s happy and not totally miserable, but I wish celebs wouldn’t sugar coat this kind of thing. They’ve obviously just tried to make it all look fabulous so that people stop criticising the family. The ‘We’re a perfect family!’ nonsense is irresponsible.

  27. Syko says:

    That’s me, Bodhi. ๐Ÿ˜

Am I the only person in the world who’s just freakin’ sick of the terms “pimp out” and “baby bump”?

  28. Bodhi says:

    Me too. On both counts…

  29. Kaiser/ Hippacrat says:

Syko? Defending a Spears? What’s the world coming to?

I just don’t get Lynn Spears. After the way Britney got so screwed up, you’d think Lynn would sit Jamie-Lynn down and say, “You know all that Southern Baptist bullshit? Forget it. Here’s a condom, here’s a sex manual, you can ask me anything. I just don’t want you to be as screwed up as your sister.”

  30. G. says:

She looks as if she’s matured 5 years in the photo. I don’t condone what she did(I mean, cuz I actually used to watch her show when it first came out, and it disapoints me that she’d ruin her career.), but I do wish her luck, and I hope that baby turns out slightly normal.

  31. abbizmal says:

That’s a nice cover “being a mom…” makes having a baby sound like fun and games to all other 16 year olds. Good role model. Yikes. Having a baby made her hair more gray than mine, and I’m 46. LOL

  32. Meredith says:

Whoa, she looks old and not in a good way. I am glad she had a natural birth and that the baby sleeps in the same room with them. But yeah, what’s this going to say to her fans? Look how easy this is! Look great during your pregnancy, be happy afterwards, and everything’s great!

  33. KateNonymous says:

Part of it’s the makeup. If I can tell by looking at an image of the cover that she’s wearing a pound of powder…well, that’s not good.

The hair doesn’t help her either. It looks like the results of those “frosting” kits they used to sell in the 70s and early 80s. Maybe they still do, for all I know, but I haven’t seen anyone whose hair looked like that for quite some time. Until this cover.

  34. bros says:

god she looks like a hillbilly version of emmy lou harris. ick. inbred wide-set eyes in that family.

  35. Anne says:

The hair looks like an ugly wig to me. I can’t help but wonder how many teens will read this article and think having a baby will be a breeze.

  36. Enn says:

Let’s start with the hair. It’s not like she’s getting her hair done in L.A. anymore. She’s in a little town in Louisiana. And if none of you have ever walked out of a salon with a hair nightmare (I’ve had a couple of bad color jobs) then I call you liars.

She’s happy about having a baby. She was responsible, took classes, got her GED, bought a home, and wants to keep her child out of the spotlight. I don’t see this condoning teenage pregnancy. It happened; it was an accident. She’s done a pretty good job of handling it. I don’t think she’s trying to make it sound like fun; it seems to me she’s just enjoying and loving her child. Is there an age limit on that? If you give birth before 18 you’re supposed to hate your baby? Give me a break.

As for Lynne, I don’t know what to think. Honestly. But let’s just leave Jamie-Lynn alone. You’re all blathering about how she’s under 18 and unwed and clutching your pearls, but you have no problem bashing her at every turn.

  37. Obvious says:

    Enn thank you.

Personally I don’t like the Spears’ camp, but Jamie Lynn is at least owning up and making an effort now.

I appalude her for keeping the baby and trying to stay out of the spotlight. She is so much more grown up than her sister.

On a side note that hair and make-up is god awful.

  38. juicy says:

enn, i really agree with you!

  39. Syko says:

    Nice post, Enn. I agree.

  40. drm says:

“Clutching your pearls…” excellent post Enn. I had my first child at 19 and I’ve done really well. It isn’t the end of the world for Jaime Lynn. It also opened up a discussion about sex and responsibility for myself and my 13 year old twin boys who love Zoey (JL’s tv show) and wanted to know if she was “ok”. So its actually done a bit of good in my family. We talk easily about these topics but this was the first time they had ever “known” someone, even in a media sense who was close to their age and gotten pregnant.

She’ll be ok. I agree with Enn, her Mum? Who knows? Not a path that I would take with my kids…

  41. Anastasia says:

I can’t seem to get past that ashy hair. Whoever colored her hair did a shitty ass job.

  42. sandy says:

her hair looks like she is in her 50

  43. lanette says:

    whatever

  44. sue mac says:

    Who cares.

  45. bros says:

enn, i guess keeping her child out of the spotlight includes selling pictures of it to a gossip mag? puhlease, shut up

  46. steph says:

Bros: Magazines were going to get pictures of the baby anyways, she might as well sell OK the pics and hope that the rest of the tabloids leave her alone
    Nice comment Enn.

  47. SeVen says:

    She looks 40

  48. Missy says:

“Being a mom is the best feeling in the world” This is an encouraging message to young people saying that teen pregnancy is so cool and its not. Wait until the baby grows and thats when the hard part of parenting starts. Most teenagers don’t have Jamie’s affluent lifestyle and will suffer greatly. This Message is Wrong

  49. Josh says:

I think its good that she is handling it so well. I dont think there is anything wrong with teenage pregnancy above the age of 16. I mean she is 17 she’s almost an adult. She should live her life how she wants. Leave her and her family alone, It has an accident.
It’s happend and its done with. Leave it alone and let her do her new job. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  50. aleach says:

no matter what she does, shes going to get criticized for it. if she says she loves being a mom, then shes advocating teenage pregnancy or something. if she says its tough, then shes a bad mom and the kid should be taken away or whatever. i feel bad for the girl. she made a mistake, at least shes owning up and taking responsibility, right?
but on a side note, her hair…yikes!! lol

  51. The reason why I won’t leave her alone to do her job is because she put her damn ass out there in the first place talking about how great it is to be a mother. I am cutting her zero slack. None. If she’s going to be a good mother, fine, but it shows young people that having a baby is an easy thing to do.

And while people believe that she’s being responsible by getting her GED and taking care of her baby, need I remind you that she also had an ass-ton of money and won’t be struggling to raise her child like anyone else her age.

If you don’t want people criticizing you and your parenting skills, keep your damn mouth shut and stay home. I didn’t want to hear about her baby in the first place, and I don’t buy the “it was an accident; it happens” argument. Birth control also happens. Not laying down with a guy when you’re a teenager to end up with a baby also happens.

I also have a hard time buying that she was all that upset about the deal with OK Magazine. You can just give the money back if you don’t want to do the interview.

Maybe I’m being extra harsh because I have read more of what she said in the interview which got on my nerves (i.e. wanting to be a soccer mom because it would be fun, and listening to her instincts instead of doctors), but she doesn’t come off as sounding mature. It all seems like great fun to her, and that doesn’t sit well with me at all.

I haven’t had my baby yet, but I look at how easy her pregnancy, delivery, and new motherhood have been for her and it just sends my blood boiling. It took me four years to conceive and I’m not about to have some 17-year-old come off as if she’s going to be a better parent because everything is “great”.

  52. Stella says:

Good Luck to her – but the photos look unnatural, and she isnt even looking at her baby. It looks like she is more interested in them taking pictures of her and Maddie is just some prop thrown in, take notice of how she makes eye contact with the camera and not Maddie.

  53. MISSY says:

    CO-SIGN @ SAILOR, WELL SAID

  54. Enn says:

Wow, Sailor, that’s a lot of bitterness. I’m sorry you had such a hard time conceiving, and I wish you a healthy pregnancy and delivery. I just don’t understand your vitriol towards this girl.

My friend got his girlfriend pregnant when he was 17 and she was 16. Nine years later, they’re happily married with three children. They both graduated high school; he has a college degree and she is nearly finished hers. They got by without an “ass-load” of money because they had extremely supportive who helped them with childcare; R lived with her mother, who helped her with all of the questions and concerns that new mothers have. F’s mother was already running a small in-home daycare and took the baby while they were in school.

It’s a tradition in our family that when you have a baby, your mother comes to stay with you for a week or two to help you transition. Newborns are scary! I have other friends who also did it alone at a young age, and they have done very well.

Also, a lot of doctors today give conflicting and confusing advice. My cousin was told that her oldest wasn’t allowed to have water, only formula. Needless to say, it was summer, hot, and the baby had water. He’s seven and incredibly smart and healthy. Women got by raising babies and children for years without doctors dictating everything and by listening to their instincts instead.

Again, she’s looking forward to the joys of having a child. What’s wrong with wanting to be a soccer mom? What’s wrong with enjoying your baby?

By the way, birth control doesn’t always work. I have a good friend who used the pill and condoms and got pregnant. Thank heaven she was married. ๐Ÿ™„ More pearl clutching!

Finally, to speak to the money issue, her mother brokered that deal. Not Jamie-Lynn. She wants to raise her child in a loving family environment, be involved, shop at Wal-Mart and enjoy having a child.

    Give her a break, already.

  55. Sarah says:

The baby is beautiful and to all u dumb ass haters get a life! It’s not the kids’ fault that the parents are out of control! And whoever said the baby is not Casey’s that is totally not true. If u look at the baby with it’s eyes open it is the spitting image of him. Maddie could not look more like casey and if u can’t see that then ur smoking crack!

  56. blessing says:

Okay first of all it’s not really any of our business to judge if she puts her business out there that’s her own deal and you don’t have to respond to it! and the baby’s Father possibly could not be Casey I honestly think she is just trying to raise her baby and giving her crap about it dosen’t make it any better she’s trying her hardest and her hair does look like crap but so what? She just had a baby she’s not gonna look the way she’s supposed too!!!! I think Jamie knows raising a child can be hard she’s just trying to show you the perks to it and that having a baby is really worth it at the end when you look @ what you created and the way sometimes the baby smiles at you, you know that it’s worth it:]]]]]]]]] ๐Ÿ˜€

  57. hayley says:

The baby is totally Casey’s and whoever doesn’t see it is as dumb as shit!!! She looks exactly like him! suck it bitches!!!

  58. Paige says:

Yes we all know that teen moms have it ruff and well some times there are a few who have money and have a baby
the point is just becuz she is a young mom does not give any one of you the right to trash her like you do
how many of you made mistakes at her age and how many would like to take em back
yeah so you never got preg young but who are you to say whats right for her
all things happen for a reason and this just happens to be a life lesson for her

  59. AngelBabySeventeen says:

Jamie Lynn has such a cute baby and I love the name Maddie! I wish Jamie Lynn and Casey the best of Luck!!!

  60. artisticallawyer says:

I think she did not care too much about protection because she somehow believed pregnancy would save her from a life like her sister’s in the spotlight. I don’t think she ever had the character or the will to become a star, she was always the shy girl who liked to go to school and enjoyed a quiet life in her small home town. I’ve met enough young girls who either had a crappy life at home or pressure to perform in a certain field and saw pregnancy as a way out: You conceive someone you can focus on, you can take care of, you can love and who will love you unconditionally. And you have the prime excuse to not pursue your career for a while… I really think that kid was her way out of her mother’s grip!

  61. haisarah says:

I dont understand why everyone is critisizing Jamie Lynn so much.
She seems to really be doing her best to give this baby a good life.

It was, in fact, Lynn who sold the photos of baby Maddie to OK!, not Jamie Lynn. Jamie Lynn said she wanted to keep baby Maddie out of the spotlight because of whats happened to Britney. That does mean something afterall. She DOESNT want to turn out like her sister.

I dont believe teenagers should go around getting pregnant because for the most part they cant support their child financially but Jamie Lynn will have no problem with that.
Not all teenagers are bad mothers. In fact, i know a few who are WAY better than older mothers I know.

    Just my opinion, though.

  62. Nanny says:

God! some of your comments people. Leave Jamie Lynn Alone. Wedlock? Umm how old are we 80ish? Making comments just because she is a teenage parents…this is the new Millenum aint it? THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! She sounds like she is a very decent mother! Unlike 90 % of todays folks! Give her and Brit a break.

  63. How many 14 to 16 year olds girls think it’s “OK” to have children at that age now because of Jamie Lynn?

Maybe for Jamie it’s ok due to her finances… but being a normal 14-16 year old… it’s a no go… personally i really am upset about the over-all perception of the Kardashin/Hilton/Spears/Milie influences on our youth UGH.

  64. edmonton sex says:
