Balthazar Getty’s wife doesn’t want to file for divorce

“Brothers and Sisters” star Balthazar Getty may have finally announced his separation from his wife - after photos of him and a topless Sienna Miller blasted across the Internet - but it looks like Rosetta Getty doesn’t want to be the one to end the marriage. The mother of his four young children, who has reportedly been mortified by her husband’s fling with Miller, is telling Balthazar that if he wants the divorce, he needs to file for it himself.

Sources tell TMZ Balthazar Getty’s wife won’t be the one filing for divorce.

We’re told Rosetta Millington will not pull the trigger on the marriage and the reasons are, to say the least, interesting. Rosetta is not exactly rolling in cash, nor is Balthazar for that matter. The philandering Getty is getting zilch from the family fortune. He is, however, pulling in a fair amount of money from “Brothers and Sisters.”

We’re told Rosetta doesn’t want to declare the marriage over, which would allow him to separate future earnings from her. She’s the one raising their four kids and she feels she’s more financially secure if she doesn’t file for divorce.

And there’s one more big thing. We’re told the Getty family is so appalled at Balthazar’s affair with Sienna Miller, they are supporting her — in more ways than one. So why rock the boat?

[From TMZ]

It’s pretty damning evidence when your own family sides with your spouse in a separation. I can’t say I blame Rosetta for her strategic move at this point. Her husband’s behavior has been deplorable- why should she give him an easy out? As for Getty’s net worth, if sources are correct, he may not have his income from his ABC show to fall back on for much longer. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Getty’s character will be “on the back burner” for a majority of the season - and there are rumors that he might even be killed off the show. Wonder if Sienna will still want him anymore if he’s not rich?

  1. “It’s pretty damning evidence when your own family sides with your spouse in a separation.” Not necessarily evidence of anything - the family is going to side with whomever the grandkids live with.

  2. Yeah, I think Sienna’s in too deep to care about money.

Rosetta’s starting to piss me off, though. Gee, I wonder who’s leaking to TMZ?

  3. Hmmm, interesting. If this is true, I hope Rosetta’s plan of not filing for divorce is going to upset Sienna and Balthazar’s apple cart. 8)
MSat, is he visiting his children?

  4. @takeiteasy: I wish that were always true. My parents divorced really amicably, but my grandparents and aunts on my Dad’s side pretty much stopped having anything to do with us afterwards.

Do we know if there’s a prenup?

  6. she’s a smart woman. I would probably do the same thing if faced with the same situation. Let him pay for the divorce and the lawyers too.

  7. I know the Bay area Getty’s slightly. They are all about the grandkids. Gordon and Anne even have a private Montessori school in their home for their grandchildren. I’m guessing the family is pretty disgusted with cousin Balthazar.

  9. i must admit after all she has been through i don’t blame her , getty has not shown any respect for her or the children, and she has to take care of the childrens future, getty saw little of his children while he was in italy and prague , so i don’t think his first thought will be the children. miller has enough money so he can live off her.

  10. He’s creepy, inside and out. Why any woman would want him anywhere near her is beyond me.
