Page Six reports this morning that Rosie O’Donnell and her girlfriend of over a year, Tracy Kachtick-Anders, have called it quits. They seemed to get together very quickly last January (-ish), and they seemed to have quite a bit in common. Tracy was/is a LGBT activist, a doula, and an adoptive mother, and between Tracy and Rosie, they had ten kids.
Rosie O’Donnell has split with her girlfriend of over a year, Tracy Kachtick- Anders, sources tell Page Six. The comedienne, multimedia star and former TV talk-show host, who has four children, confirmed in January last year that she was dating Tracy, a Texas artist and mother of six.
She made the announcement after they were spotted holding hands in Miami in December 2009, and soon their combined brood of 10 kids became one big family. But sources tell us they recently parted ways, with Tracy living at a separate house with her children, while she and Rosie, who lives in Nyack and on Miami’s Star Island, remain on good terms.
A rep for O’Donnell told us, “Rosie and Tracy never officially lived under one roof. They have lived near one another for quite some time, and their families still socialize and they see each other frequently.”
But a source said, “They have definitely split up, but it is very complicated because their kids are very close. They still spend a lot of time together.” The insider noted that Rosie still has pictures of her and Tracy together on her blog.
Tracy is active in parenting issues. She launched Open Arms Campaign, a nonprofit organization to recruit adoptive families in the LGBT community.
Rosie has four kids with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, with whom she split in October 2009. After announcing her new relationship, O’DonNell said, “Tracy has six kids, she lives next door . . . It’s a lot! We’re the Gay-dy Bunch! It’s a challenge, but when you fall in love with someone, they come with a whole bunch of things, including children” — adding that she fell for Tracy because of her love for kids.
On her radio show, O’Donnell went on to describe Kachtick-Anders as a “lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely person,” adding, “I love it all. It’s almost too good to be true!”

Well… that’s sad. I didn’t know that much about Tracy, but she seemed nice. It sounds like the breakup is complicated, but I bet they’re managing. I know many of you don’t care for Rosie at this point, but I still kind of like her, and I wish… I guess I wish that she wasn’t so crazy in relationships. I think Rosie has a self-destructive streak.

Both have so many kids, that the chances of merging this family together never had good chances. She jumped into it quickly. Kelly was the best thing that ever happened to Rosie, beautiful and classy Kelly. At least, they are wonderful co-parents together and didn’t do the Halle Berry drama.

Maybe Rosie will take a minute to focus completely on her kids and her home life without finding yet another partner with whom she can force yet another new family dynamic upon them.

I agree. This woman is a serial dater. I don’t personally care, but if we are going to harp on Kate Hudson for it all the time, extend the same courtesy to Rosie O’Donnell. Especially since she is such an obnoxious, rude, brat of a woman…

Those self destructive streaks will get you everytime. Yes, I think she needs to be alone for a while and focus on the kids. It’s their happiness that is important now. Hopefully that will be enough to bring her happiness.

I just read they didn’t jump quickly into moving on or into homes together. They lived seperatly in their own homes, but the kids remain close. Didn’t Kelly and Rosie seperate nearly a year or something before this new girl came into the picture? I have nothing against Rosie, hope she finds happiness.

I loved it when Rosie took on Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she is so annoying and arrogant. She yells every opportunity and interrupts constantly. Her and Joy Behar must do some serious Bab’s a$$ki$$ing to still be on the View, I don’t know anyone that likes either.

I thought this relationship was doomed from the start, two different people and I could tell Rosie found a lot of things annoying about Tracy. And 10 kids between the two of them? I mean…wow. I listen to Rosie on Sirius Radio and she is a level headed, intelligent, funny and kind person.
Too bad she’s not still with Kelly who was a perfect, calming influence for her.

Well, I am going against the tide here, but I have to say I like Rosie. I am in my car a lot for work and I have listened to her show very frequently since it started. I will miss it tremendously when she moves over to OWN.
I was surprised at how passionate she is about children’s issues and basic equality, how intelligent she is, and how very loyal she is to those around her. She has had very, very interesting guests, including authors and documentary film makers and she obviously prepared diligently for each guest. It would have taken me several additional months before I discovered my new favorite singer – Adele, if not for Rosie talking about her last fall.
She does not suffer fools as lightly as some, and in doing so may be undiplomatic; however, it is not as annoying to me as it seems to be to some of you. I wonder if a beautiful, heterosexual woman as loud and opinionated as Rosie would generate the same distain. We seem to put up with a lot more with some than with others.
I wish her well. She, as do all of us, deserves happiness.

I work at the school/camp that she sent her oldest son to last summer. He was exceedingly polite, caring and an overall wonderful boy. Rosie and Kelly each visited at various times througout the summer, and both were polite, very down to earth and it was clear that their son’s happiness and well-being are extremely important.

I would have sympathy for her if she wasn’t such an ass hole all the time.
But I feel AWFUL for the kids. That’s just hard to start blending a family and then stop….bleh. Hopefully they can continue to have their families stay close to each other.

@Moreaces what planet do you live on? No one keeps a family together better than lesbians. It’s been that way for decades. If you obviously don’t know any of us, don’t make stoopid generalizations about us.
It sounds like the situation with the kids is pretty healthy, and I don’t understand all this dislike for Rosie. As to the superficial complaints, she obviously cleans up really well, and do you really expect someone raising 4 kids (and now co-raising 6 more) to dress up for the cameras all the time? Please, you wouldn’t demand that from a non-celebrity. She’s BUSY. DUH.
On a different note: Even a year ago, I would have been SO SAD to see another famous lesbian breakup. But now we have Wanda Sykes and Latifah and Ellen and Cynthia Nixon AND Jane Lynch, all of them out, all pretty damn stable with their women. I’m just thrilled overall at how far we’ve come in terms of the public eye. I wish Rosie and Tracy well, and if it was time for them to split, hey, that’s okay. (Of course it would be if we *didn’t* have lots more stable out lesbians… honestly though, that does make it MORE okay for me personally.)
