Christina Hendricks in Vivienne Westwood: boobs & bangs trauma?

fp_7078192_hendricks_christina_per_01_02

You know I love Christina Hendricks. I mean, you KNOW it. She’s amazing. She’s really pretty, and I love her curves, and I love her on Mad Men, and I love the ginger. But Christina is a hot mess. I don’t think she has a stylist – I think she actually chooses her own clothes, and she really doesn’t have any idea what to put on her body, for red carpet events, or for casual outings. Anyway, Christina is the new rack (face) of Vivienne Westwood jewelry – you can see a preview of the ads here. Last night was the big launch of Westwood’s LA store, and Christina was pretty much the rack of honor. So… it makes sense that she wore Westwood to the event. And although I don’t care for the Westwood cigarette pants, the top part – some kind of corseted boob harness – is fine.

It’s Christina’s tragic styling that bothers me. Such a pretty girl, and those bangs. That bad haircut. Anyway, Christina told reporters that she “loves” Vivienne Westwood, and that “I would wear her clothes every day if I could. I’ve been fairly vocal about the fact I’ve been a fan of hers for years, so there was no way I wasn’t going to do it.”

Sorry about the low-quality, smaller photos. They were all we had!

  1. spinner says:

Enough with the bangs trauma. Some women look great in bangs & Christina is one of them.

  2. OtherChris says:

How can you notice anything but the boobs? I like the hair and I like the top. If you have that body, show it off. But it would have been better with a skirt of some sort, preferably a tight one so that she could show off her curves. The pants look like an afterthought.

  3. Luci says:

    that women is absolutely GORGEOUS!
    love vivienne westwood too

  4. sasa says:

I don’t mind the hair at all and the top is very pretty. Pants seem to be hard for her to pull off, at least the kind she wears.

  5. junk573r says:

Wow, you guys are bitchy about the bangs trauma today. All I can see are her boobs. If I were her I’d get tired of the top of my chest being cold all the time.

  6. Brooke says:

I just… why does her stylist hate her? Pleat-front pants are the LAST thing I would put on this body; they’re also a bad length. The ensemble may have been cute with a pencil skirt, but the real problem here is we have a definite after-five top put with definitely daytime pieces and completely undone hair. It seems to want to strike that high/low balance but just comes off sloppy.

I am beginning to really resent what an awful representation she is for curvy women everywhere. Her tragic “style” says to the world “not even with an unlimited budget can I dress this body well!”

  7. Mikki says:

Bad outfit all around…I hate pants that length, they do no one any favors. Either go long or go capri length, this just makes her look stumpy. The top is um…okay…but dangerously close to causing a wardrobe malfunction. And why no jewelry if that’s what she’s promoting?

  8. saintdevil says:

    Her bangs are fine.

Her squeezed-up-to-bursting-point (fake?!) chichis however belong into a brothel in a cowboy-movie…

  9. Isabel says:

She does not have bangs trauma! I understand where Kaiser is coming from sometimes…celebs do often have traumatic bang situations…but it really is not universally applicable to all people with bangs! Holy smokes!

She does need some styling help. There are ways to celebrate the boobs without leaving everything else a sort of awkward mess. I do think, however, she is quite beautiful. Just needs to be refined a bit.

  10. lilred says:

OH my goodness people relax Kaiser didn’t say it was your bangs trauma.Let it go.

  11. Helena Bonham Handcart says:

I actually like her hair in these pictures. And I adore Vivienne Westwood. I just wonder whether anyone with so much natural cleavage actually needs the push-em-out support you get from Westwood corsets?

  12. Bonfire Beach says:

Her hair looks fine. Normally it looks like it needs to be brushed but I think it looks good here.

  13. Hollowdoll says:

I like her hair and the outfit.
    Especially the corset.

  14. sapphire says:

Bangs, hair and top are awesome. Love the pin. The pants? Eh, lose them!

  15. Kaboom says:

She looks like an ice cream cone of strawberry and hotness.

  16. original kate says:

she needs a stylist oh, so badly.

  17. malachais says:

More like crotch trama, those crops look too small for her. The outfit as a whole looks uncomfortable. Her bangs do look weird though.

Forget Christina, her husbands needs a makeover stat!

  18. Cha Cha Loca says:

She looks ridiculous. Unless she’s on Mad Men she always looks like crap. She has no idea how to dress herself and the circus tits are over the top, literally!

  19. Jane says:

I don’t think her hair looks that bad and the bangs look good on her. The only thing that looks bad to me is her pants. They don’t fit right at all.

Talk about bad hair and makeup, Chelsea Handler always looks bad on her show. Her hair looks like she hasn’t bothered to brush it days and her makeup does nothing for her looks. She looks like she is always on her way to the grocery store.

  20. sasa says:

I’m not personally experienced in problems big boobs cause with dressing (I think I’m gonna use that as a description of my size from now on, rather then “really small”) but I believe that when you have them as huge as she does there is no escaping some spillage on top or side or somewhere. If you don’t wanna walk around in tents all the time.

So taking that into consideration, I think the cleavage looks fine. It’s showing a smaller percent of her boobs than most smaller breasted ladies show.

  21. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I see worse things in this look than the bangs, which makes me wonder if she’s an ideal choice for modelling jewelery. What with her pathological need to shove her tits out at everything, I don’t see how a pair of earrings could even compete for attention. I don’t think she’s necessarily a bad poster child for curvy figures, as there’s nothing going on here that couldn’t be cured by a set of eyes, a steadfast loyalty to the ‘fit, not size’ law, and a trip or two to alterations–especially in light of her rising profile, I don’t think those are unrealistic sartorial priorities. I do think that she’s good-looking person who obliterates the lion’s share of her real life attractiveness by consistently wearing crap. It is possible for top heavy women to roam the world inside of their clothes without looking like your torso is being sprayed for potato bugs. Then again, I live in Canada, so there’s more weather conscious urgency for me. As for accentuating certain features, ‘playing up’ turns to ‘played out’ quickly. I don’t know, I just see a bunch of wasted opportunities.

  22. Jeri says:

Agree with Spinner and the others. You have a real prejudice against bangs which is too bad because many people look a lot better with them then without.

Prejudice is not a good thing ever.

It’s OK to say you don’t like them but to say eveyone that wears them has no taste is not cool.

  23. Kaiser says:

Jesus Christ, all of this bitching and moaning about “bangs trauma” – have you seen how pretty Christina looks WITHOUT bangs? Bangs only look good on very few women, and most ladies look better without haircuts that would better suit a 5-year-old girl. Shocking, I know.

And no, I’m not going to stop using “bangs trauma”. I’ll use it whenever I think it applies. Like right here. Any and all of you should feel free to disagree with me, but if you start personally attacking me and generally being an a-hole, you will be banned.

Jeri: where did I say “eveyone that wears them has no taste”? Show me.

  24. video_slacker says:

The bangs are the best part of her hair. It’s the rest of it that looks like it’s in a growing-out stage.

  25. EdithP says:

I like bangs. I have bangs. Many women look better without bangs. I think Christina looks good with them.

THE BOOBS for crying out loud. You have nice boobs CH, please stop torturing them.

And Sasa, I have big boobs and there is very little squishing of mine, and I don’t wear tents. Basically they shouldn’t be in your armpits or nostrils. : )

  26. motheroftheyear says:

    Her?

  27. sasa says:

    @Kaiser
Fair’s fair. You continue to voice your unique opinion and will probably get more comments not agreeing with it. Works fine from all sides IMO.

    @EdithP
I hear you. But Christina’s are more huge then big.

  28. Jackson says:

The pants are terrible and the girls up top look painful. The bangs, eh, they’re ok. I’d love to see her hair color toned down a bit though – she’s getting close to Clown Orange.

  29. ordinarygirl86 says:

If she’d worn a black pencil skirt then this look with the top would’ve been PERFECT….(sigh)

@Kaiser- ITA about bangs trauma! As soon as Camilla Belle and Reese Witherspoon started rocking bangs EVERYONE thought they could and quite frankly only a few can truly pull it off! It tends to make you look either very young giving off school girl vibes (they make me look 12 and I’m 24 thank god i fixed it) or very dated by covering the entire forehead and essentially taking away from the face (see Sandra Bullock). Christina’s aren’t the worst though…

  30. EdithP says:

Sasa, I would wager Christina and I are about the same bra size (although she’s a bit thinner than me). And remember, she paid for those boobies!

  31. Katie says:

I wished Christina dressed better. It’s not even that she wears stuff that isn’t good for her body. I mean, picture this outfit on anybody and I think it’s still ugly.

  32. sasa says:

EdithP, you lady are one well endowed woman! I think it’s very sexy. So how do you dress when you dress up? Any photos?

    Yes, I know I’m creepy.

I don’t know and don’t care about whether she paid for them or not. If boobs look obviously fake I find them ugly, but if I can’t really tell then I just don’t care. With Christina I can’t really tell.

  33. Ron says:

Like the outfit for a change, but the woman has no taste in shoes. So wrong.

  34. EdithP says:

Sasa, v-necks and button up shirts are a staple. Nordstrom used to make the most wonderful button up shirts, but I can’t find them in nice styles, anymore. You have to be very careful what you wear, as you’ll creep into Jessica Simpson territory. I’m probably built more like her, I don’t have much of a waist.

I grew up very embarrassed by my chest (I developed early) and tried to hide it for a long time. Now, I’m in my mid-40s and don’t care anymore. I’ll show them off a bit. Sorry, no pictures! : D

I think Christina’s boobs are fake because old pictures show her with much smaller boobs. However, she has enough body fat so that they look natural. Salma Hayek probably got implants too, but lets face it, hers are fabulous, too.

  35. The_Porscha says:

I like her bangs and her top, I think they both “go” with her well. The pants are best not acknowledged. 🙂

  36. linds says:

i think she looks awesome…the bangs and the hair are perfect…the style though could use some work.

  37. sasa says:

Edith, glad to hear you show them off now.

Maybe Christina just needs a better bra. I googled her a bit and while the boobs are great she does have a tendency to push them up really high. Which is not everybody’s cup of tea I guess. I’m convinced though that the day will come when she will show up somewhere and people will fall flat on their faces from the awesomeness that is CH.

  38. Violet says:

    do you like anyone’s bangs?

i think christina’s are nice on her. the outfit, not so much. but i don’t think it’d be nice on anyone. it’s just boring and weirdly cut.

  39. Kaiser says:

Dear God, was this post linked to on some kind of Bangs Trauma Hotline Site?

  40. coconut says:

I enjoy your colorful and witty posts, Kaiser, but your frequently stated aversion to bangs and pale colored frocks is jarring and not in line with your otherwise astute analysis. Might you get some tutelage from some beauty and fashion mags or from dear Mr. Gunn??

  41. Kaiser says:

Coconut – Pale clothes look like crap on pale people. Bangs rarely look as good as women think they do. These are some of my cardinal style rules. If women want to wander around looking like a washed-out banged school girl, that’s fine. But I’m going to say they look like sh-t.

  42. Ally says:

I’m gonna pile on, too, Kaiser. I like bangs, and I like them on her. Plus when women age, it’s better than forehead Botox! (Yes, I followed the link from bangstraumahotline.com — JK)

I like her outfit, too. Sort of medieval gamine? Though the girls look imprisoned and painful. Vivienne might have done some better tailoring there.

You’re awesome, Kaiser, we’re just quibbling with you on this one point!

  43. sasa says:

Kaiser face it- you are a bang hater who doesn’t want to even try rehabilitation.

I find the whole conversation truly funny. Since it’s about the universally important subject of HAIR! Hair is in fact a surprisingly tricky subject. I’m one of those people who doesn’t really care. I can cut it, I can even shave it off (looked awful), I can bang out. And I’m always amused with the completely opposite reactions I get and how opinionated people can be about hair.

  44. P.M. says:

In these photos it looks like she’s wearing a wig, the *unmentionable* trauma starts too far back on her head. But I wish she’d take some cues from the stylists on Mad Men on how to dress. Also that when she goes to an event it doesn’t mean the headlights have to be on full beam.

  45. Jess says:

How does she control those boobs? I’ve got a similar build to her and I’ve never found any bra that will make me look like that. Damn.

  46. EdithP says:

Jess, me either. I’m pretty sure it’s tape and the Westwood iron bodice.

  47. Danny says:

EdithP @30, how about some pictures?

  48. Ashley says:

Do we have any confirmation that her boobs are fake?
BESIDES years old Playboy pictures where she is a bunch skinnier, but still had a dece rack?

Because, let’s get real – girlfriend gained a few pounds between then and now, and I would wager that some of that settled in her chestal region. 4 years ago, I was 2 bra sizes smaller. It happens.

I wish she would wear more pencil skirts. These pants are unfortunate on such a beautiful woman.

  49. lilred says:

@sasa:@Kaiser -Fair’s fair. You continue to voice your unique opinion and will probably get more comments not agreeing with it. Works fine from all sides IMO.

I don’t think Kaiser has a problem with people stating their opinion, the problem is that people are taking the “bangs trauma” comments as though she had said it about them and not CH.

Kaiser draw your skank shank girl I got your back.

  50. Kaiser says:

lilred – LMAO! Thanks, girl. Some bitches be acting like I personally took a piss on their bangs trauma.

  51. sasa says:

..people are taking the “bangs trauma” comments as though she had said it about them and not CH
    ——————–

Well no. I don’t feel like that.

I think beautiful women for most part look good both with or without bangs, as is the case with Christina. There are always exceptions of course.

Then there are less beautiful women who can look amazing in a certain, well suited hairstyle- be it with bangs or with no bangs.

I don’t think bangs per se take away from the beauty of a woman as I feel Kaiser does and that’s all there is to this. As I said- no big deal, it’s just hair.

  52. bored says:

    She looks realy good.

  53. spinner says:

Kaiser…I don’t know if I should tell you this.

    Sit down.

    No…lay down.

    Grab your woobie.

    Insert Binky. (no not there)

    Hillary Duff got BANGS!!!

    THUD!!

  54. Liana says:

oh for crying out loud… PUT THE GIRLS AWAY FOR AWHILE. I am SO sick of seeing her boobs.

  55. Jilliterate says:

Odds are, she just can’t find clothes that fit her properly. I have boobs that are at least as big as hers (36H), and I can say from experience that you can’t find clothing for big breasts — clothing companies follow one base shape, and then just size it up. Everything I find that’s small enough in the waist is too small in the boobs, and vice versa, everything big enough for my boobs hangs like a sack on me. And button up shirts? Ha, fat chance. Button up shirts have no stretch to them, and are very unforgiving. I have yet to find a button up shirt that actually makes it around “the girls.”

The amusing thing about all this is a woman with a figure like mine — Christina Hendricks — being a spokesperson for a company that follows this one-shape-fits-all policy, although I know she’s just representing their jewellry, which is usually boob-friendly.

PS: I think her bangs look cute!

  56. Faye says:

She must get so sore after having them pushed up so damn high. My boobs have that really nice round look too (like rolling hills) when I wear the right bra/bodice, but I’m always sore afterward. Either my boobs from being pushed about or my ribs from the strapless bra because knockers like that need support.

And while I’m talking about my boobs, I might as well say my bangs look fab…I’m pretty sure. But then again I hate my forehead. Now I’m wondering if I need to email my pic to Kaiser and see if it’s bangs trauma or not.

  57. Alix says:

The fit of those pants is tragic.

  58. gg says:

This is the first time I have ever seen her hair where it looks passable, even good! The boobs look way better in this top as well – she’s always painfully spilling out on three sides, but here, she’s only spilling out on the top and not too badly.

However, the entire lower half of her body is completely and utterly wrongo in those slacks.

  59. EdithP says:

Jilliterate wins! God bless you, 36H. Yeah, I would imagine it would be hard to find a shirt that fits well. I always wonder where Pam Anderson finds clothes.

  60. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I don’t know, Kaiser. I see that you were on the receiving end of a pretty huge pile-on here, but would calling some of your readers bitches even make it past moderation coming from someone else? You’re frustrated, not Mandela. Let’s just let buzzcuts be bygones and get back to the fun.

    ***

Every woman has some features that make finding appropriate and attractive clothing a challenging experience. Being very, very top heavy does put ‘keep looking, décolle-sags’ near the top of my shopping list, and being woefully, criminally short (and black) means that there’s a chance of blood circulation problems when I try to get jeans over my ass, so I can commisserate if needed. Heck, a couple of years ago, my mother bought me a couple of heavy-duty bras which came up to over 200 bucks. That was the whole present, I needed it. I just can’t help thinking that the ‘she can’t find things to fit’ retort is a bit of a ‘I can’t present my book report because I didn’t do my book report, but it’s not my fault because I didn’t like the font and decided that the paper would be better put to use in a fireplace toasting my marshmallows. Would you like to task about marshmallows instead? I can’t, I burnt them’ is entirely plausible. She must have some money, right? As with seemingly everything, I’m with Liana on this one.

  61. motheroftheyear says:

Damn, Kaiser, retract the claws! Meo-yowza!

All that over *bangs*? I didn’t read anything indicative of a personal attack…just a great many people who disagreed with your assessment. And, yes, your (over)use of the phrase “bangs trauma”.

I think CH looks hideous no matter what…bangs, no bangs, boobs, pre-boobs…so I am not on team “wow she looks so good leave her alone”. I’m on team “back up, Kaiser, we all have opinions, let us express them openly in fun and nurturing bitchy environment”.

    Kisses.

  62. Crash2GO2 says:

No problems with ya Kaiser, but her bangs are fine. And so are pale clothes on pale people as long as the tones are right. IMO.

  63. Emma says:

    BOOBS!

Sorry. Had to get that out of my system.

  64. Sassy says:

I DO LIKE HER BANGS….nuff said. Maybe she looks good w/out them, but I wear bangs, and I HATE the way I look w/out them. I’ve tried MANY TIMES to not have “the bangs,” & I just don’t like it. Also, when I go back to bangs, I get so many “generalized” compliments, like…you look different..have you lost weight…are you working out more….you look happy…or you look so well-rested…comments to that effect.

  65. Emily says:

I don’t understand why she doesn’t just hire one of the wardrobe people from Mad Men to be her stylist. Cause she pretty only dresses good on the show.

  66. fwozbo says:

She paid good money for those boobs, let her flaunt them.

Bangs look fine but that wig idea might be correct.

  67. NicoleAM says:

That is a seriously hideous outfit, IMO.

  68. Zelda says:

Does not fit, terrible cut (especially for her body), and cropped pants? A corset? Taffeta? What is this, 1999?
    Terrible.

    I like her bangs.

  69. Celebitchy says:

Here’s the thing about that hair – it’s not the bangs, it’s the fact that it’s a mess. Like she was going for soft waves and ended up with some kind of air dry mess. The long bangs add to the overall unkempt look. If the bangs and the rest of the hair was styled well it wouldn’t be as much of an issue.

  70. sasa says:

I dunno, it looks soft and shiny to me. That’s about all I want from hair (of her quality, I’m not talking about different types here). But then again I hate over styled hair (those hideous fake curls on the bottom part, too much product, too flat ironed…) so I guess I’m biased.

  71. Laura says:

Seems like most girls on here have bangs, the way everyone is getting offended. 😛

  72. Rosanna says:

Hmmm let’s see… trashy plus trashy equals… trashy??? Seriously, CH is a gorgeous woman who should take MANY style lessons (and dress appropriately for her body type!).
