Kristen Stewart in another Balmain minidress in London: cute or tragic?

glamour_women_outside_arrivals_06_wenn5669006

There are some celebrities that I never get tired of making fun of – like Gwyneth Paltrow. Dame Goop is a gem, and she constantly provides new comic material. Not so much with Kristen Stewart. K-Stew is EXHAUSTING. Maybe it’s because I have that gut-level reaction of “smack-smack-smack.” Maybe it’s because K-Stew seems permanently stuck in this angst-ridden, lip-biting, “I’m so deep and complicated and that’s why I can’t just walk a red carpet without showing you how much DISDAIN I have for The Process” phase. She’s been here forever. It’s exhausting.

Anyway, these are photos of Kristen at Tuesday night’s Glamour UK’s Women of the Year Awards. She wore this short, tight little Balmain which… well, I don’t hate. I liked the red safety-pin Balmain dress from the MTV Movie Awards a lot more. The red dress seemed like it was made precisely for her slender, slouchy frame. Not so much with this one. Plus, she’s so pale and the dress doesn’t really “pop” so now everything looks kind of washed out. And… should we even talk about her posture? I want to physically stand in front of her and shove her shoulders back and up. And then I would smack her.

By the way, by most accounts, K-Stew was only in London for this red carpet. She’s not due to begin principle filming on Snow White and the Huntsman (where she’s playing the slouchy, lip-biting, angst-y Snow White) until August. Some sources say she’s headed to Toronto to spend time with Sparkles while he works.

She looks like a poorly sculpted deer. I don’t like the minidress look on her. And the scowl. The tude too. Just DNW.

  2. Quest says:

What is happening to the hemline of that dress?

Pale dress, pale complextion, bad posture, bad hair. Sorry not cute

  3. almond says:

She looks nice. The dress fits her well and shows off her figure.
Too bad about her posture; it minimizes her boobs and puts emphasis on her upper arms, which are NOT toned at all.

But she looks good, overall and I’m, again, pleasantly surprised by her hair. It looks closer than ever before to having been brushed. So, a success (we’re not gone talk about the slouching anymore, the redundancy department of redundancy would fine us)!

EDIT: Her posture is also oddly defensive, especially her legs and arms, like she’s ready to bolt any second now. And yes, the attitude does leave a note of sourness over the dress and pretty hair. Imagine how cute she’d be if she actually deigned to be happy and grateful for her situation.

  4. Dani says:

Why does such anti-Hollywood person as she claims to be attend such events?
She said paps rape her and she doesn’t pass the opportunity to make herself seem better than the usual celebs craving attention.
Besides such dresses aren’t made for 12 year old boys, and she has a figure of a 12 year old. It’s the same thing over and over again.
She’s desperate for an image overhaul that’s why she is trying to smile and attend such events. She used to call that selling out.

  5. Lucy says:

Looks like the dress has been poorly altered.. What’s the the scrappy fabric hanging out the bottom and around the bust line?

  6. Luci says:

the dress would be ok if it were not priced like it is. Balmain is overprized rubish 99% of the time

  7. Hautie says:

I am tired of the bad puckered hems on these allege couture dresses.

Then add to it pasty legs and poor posture. Nothing comes off looking positive for her.

Which is really sad. Because she is a pretty girl. And would probably be amazing looking if she could stand up straight. Then get a decent stylist to build a nice wardrobe for her.

  8. TXCinderella says:

I don’t think she is deep and complicated, I think she is just an insecure young woman trying to find her way in the world of fame. She has accumulated fame and fortune in a very short time and it takes time to get used to that. The dress, meh. It’s looks too run of the mill. although it does fit her well. At least she’s not wearing the Converse. I always thought that looked stupid and I can’t believe they let her wear those in the first two Twilight movies. So tacky.

  9. mia girl says:

I like this dress, the print on the fabic is interesting, but agree that the color washes her out a bit. Her hair has been looking really nice lately.

Points taken (the slouch, the get me out of here attitude) – but honestly meh, doesnt bother me that much. At least she not doing the “hold your pee-stand” or the Paris Hilton “arch your back like a slut” pose on the red carpet.

  10. Dani says:

There is a photo of her standing with wide spread legs as if she is peeing.

  11. chris says:

She looks lovely and sweet but I’m getting bored of her style now. She wears the same thing everywhere. I really did love the MTVMA awards dress. Red is a great look for her.

  12. sam says:

i think that she looks absolutely gorgeous. and really what’s getting tiring is you’re obvious hate for her. you never even choose flattering pictures. there are a TON of photos where she’s smiling an posing beautifully.

you should really lay off a bit and give the girl a second chance rather than holding on to your old impressions.

  13. khaveman says:

    Loving the shoes.

  14. tapioca says:

She seems really uncomfortable, like she’s very aware that she’s showing a lot of skin! If she were wearing more of a shift dress, or Cameron Diaz’s black playsuit so it was bare legs only, she’d probably be less self-conscious and look a lot better.

But yes, if she really hates the spotlight so much, why is she doing a red carpet that has nothing to do with Twilight (which isn’t even out until November)?

  15. Amy says:

Her hair looks great. I noticed she parted it on the side for the MTV Movie Awards which always makes a huge difference with certain face shapes and it does with her. I prefer this dress to the red dress she wore (I hated that) but it’s definitely too pale for her to pull off with the skin tone she has got.

  16. Crash2GO2 says:

I think she looks lovely. Her legs have a deer like quality to them and overall she is soft looking, which is nice compared to the sinewy look we often get these days. And while her posture is not great, it is no where near as bad as some other actresses. Keira Knightly comes immediately to mind.

  17. yeppp says:

she looks the same as she did for the MTV awards she just changed her dress and shoes… hair, make-up, and stupid face all look the same! she has one look, and I’ve out grown it the same way I have over grown her monotone voice and her lack of acting ablity.

  18. natalie says:

i actually like the dress, just not on her. as others have said, her posture is horrible!! you need to stand tall and show it off!

  19. Hollowdoll says:

I think she looks cute, but the dress is pretty boring. I’d rather look at her than some of the other talentless bimbo’s out there. I find her awkwardness amusing.

  20. Lucky says:

Isn’t that great the most dangerous enemy of a woman is another woman. no wonder our gender is at the disadvantage of the society. Sometimes I wonder if women’s mission in life are to destroy others so they can feel better.

  21. SolitaryAngel says:

Would it kill this girl to stand up straight? Why am I turning into my grandmother?! Arrrghh

  22. I think she’s totally owning it! I love her in minidresses. Her legs fit with it so much. Even with her slouchy posture, she looks stunning.

  23. anons says:

most often she lacks vividness in photos; she should at least wear color.

  24. dicktrix says:

Why is it that KStew always wearing these hooker type of dress when she got an unshapely bod & legs – or does she want to compete now w/ Blakey-Fakey Lively on “how to dress less for attention”?!

  25. StephanieMarie says:

Awww! I thought she finally worked it all out with the red safety pin mini..Ah well. Keep trying Kristen…

Sidenote:I know she exhausts you buuuut thanks to your criticism of her posture I’ve recently been thinking about my own posture and I realized I slouch standing up too!! SO now I’m working on NOT doing that so thanks to you Kaiser 😀

  26. NoFrank says:

There are a lot of actresses who rock the pale skin look (Cate Blanchett, for example) but pale does not equal “blue and mottled”. Kristen Stewart wears mini dresses well, they suit her body type, but…her legs always look to me like she needs someone to check her nail beds for oxygen deprivation, and then wrap her in a blanket.

  27. tara says:

These are bad shots of her here, on popsugar they had some great ones of her smiling and some back shots and the girl has amazing legs, not an inch of cellulite in sight. http://www.popsugar.com/Kristen-Stewart-Glamour-Women-Year-Awards-Pictures-17780633?page=0,0,16#16

    http://www.popsugar.com/Kristen-Stewart-Glamour-Women-Year-Awards-Pictures-17780633?page=0,0,16#15

I do think the color doesn’t suit her and the posture needs some work.

  28. kiikii says:

The girl needs to do some physical activity and get some muscle definition.
She doesn’t look like a deer she looks like a piece of milk fed veal that has never EVER used a leg muscle in its life.

Whilst she’s slim, its skinny fat. Ugh. Gross.

Btw – she’s what? 21-ish? Why WOULD she have cellulite at that age.

  29. KatieM says:

I have heard from a source who has worked with her that she is actually a very sweet person. I am not sure if she is that angsty, or if that is how we perceive her due to her (unwarrented?) reputation.

Secondly, I think her complexion is very pretty. I don’t understand, in light of the dangers of tanning, why we criticize fair skin.

  30. tara says:

kiikii- yeah, if you look at the pictures I linked and still think she needs muscle tone and she’s skinny fat and gross, that’s saying more about you than her. lol I remember thinking she had no muscle tone before too, she definitely had a skinny smoker hipster look a couple years back, but she’s obviously doing something now, her legs look very toned.

  31. sarahb says:

eye roll at the people saying she has no shape or muscle or whatever. I get not thinking her body shape isn’t your ideal shape. But doing this weird thing where you think there’s only ONE shape that’s acceptable, and then using BLAKE EFFING LIVELY as an example, a girl who has had multiple plastic surgery procedures, is wacked. I give her props for keeping her twat private and not going under the knife AND refusing to pad her bra and accepting her body. She’s a tiny, naturally skinny girl. She can get away with tiny dresses. Maybe she isn’t curvy or really athletic looking, but she’s petite and still looks cute. It’s amazing how nazi like women are with one another’s bodies, people in glasses and all that.

  32. kiikii says:

@tara – the photos you linked definitely show her legs better. Much better. But I think it is more to do with the work of the high heel (they make anyone’s legs look more toned instantly due to the position they put the leg/ankle into) than her actually working out. (I can’t even write that about this girl and not giggle… just the image of KStew working out – heehee)

Ive always been long, lean and sporty .. so yeah, it is probably saying more about me… the skinny smoker hipster description is perfect!

  33. John Wayne Lives says:

    @ Kaiser
“I want to physically stand in front of her and shove her shoulders back and up. And then I would smack her.”

OMG! lolol My girls in the next room just asked me what was so funny lolol. Thanks for that 🙂

  34. Eleonor says:

Girl needs to learn how to pose, and if she wants to wear that kind of dress she should work out.

  35. Lindy says:

The dress is really pretty and fits her well–and I love the fact that she is not into the radioactive orange fake tan look, but that means that she needs a little more color. The dress should be something brighter–like the red safety pin dress, which really popped.

  36. Lizzy says:

This girl kills me. Like most of the comments here, she just looks like she wishes she was somewhere, ANYWHERE, else…like preferably on a couch with some sweatpants. And somehow her general “please don’t look at me, I don’t want to be here” attitude comes off as ungrateful and immature instead of humble. I just wish she would stand up straight, run a comb through her hair, and work it for once.

  37. Bf says:

If Blake wore this dress you’d call her a whore but someone so unfeminine and average isn’t threatening to Stepanie Meyer type of women.

  38. Embee says:

I like the dress and envy her tiny figure. As an athlete, I can not wear that kind of dress (and being “skinny fat”) is NOT an option for me. It seems like less maintenance, though, so: ENVY.

I also think she is inredibly self-conscious. She’s also a bit of a hipster but I think 90% of the “attitude” is fear.

You made me laugh hibiscus tea through my nose!

  40. Yasmine says:

I understand the hate for her in a way. She just really annoys me with her uncomfortable smirks.
@Liana: you commented in a previous post that you actually like her. I’m actually curious, does she come off better in person?

  41. tori says:

I saw similar photos on other sites and she’s smiling in those and looks fine. I don’t know, I think people overplay her awkwardness. I think she is a little self conscious and probably not exactly at home in dresses and heels, she’s tomboyish, but it’s not like she’s sucking her thumb in a corner. lol

  42. nora says:

I don’t really understand the “skinny fat” term. It’s so elitist. Like now we are putting up a hierarchy on even skinny people? Like you can’t be truly skinny unless you work out too for perfect muscle definition? If I was kristen with skinny(fat?) genes, and was a millionaire, and was screwing Sparkles nightly, I wouldn’t waste an hour in the gym daily just so that I can have more calf definition either.

  43. geekychic says:

i think she’s one of those you love to hate, Kaiser.
she is the type people love to hate.
i mean, Sparkles whines about his fame all the time, yet you deem him charming.
    i think she’s just very self-conscius.
but hey, i like her. i’m three years older than her, and as i said before: i’d be lucky if my younger sister (14) decides she’s the role-model instead of rihanna and such.

  44. Phillylady says:

    She looks skanky

  45. almond says:

@ tara I agree, she has amazing legs. Mine have the same shape and length, except they really are skinny fat. Hers are toned and healthy looking. Kudos to her on toning up. Now if she would just do the same for her arms.

Oh, And I would kill to have her body type; especially to be in the itty bitty titty comity.
Those who are criticizing her for her body type are aiming for low blows. That’s not something in which anyone has a say. The “12 year old boy body” comments are disgusting.

  46. gabs says:

And again you chose the worst pictures that came out of that event to push your own agenda. On popsugar there were some cute ones where she was smiling. Anyways, she looks okay but this dress washes her out. She should wear colors that pop because of her paleness. Her makeup is always good.I dont understand why you want to smack her. There are so many other twats in hollywood that you are not this mean to.

  47. mia girl says:

@Bf – “but someone so unfeminine and average isn’t threatening to Stepanie Meyer type of women”

The ironic thing is that I think you are the one threatened by Stewart. You consistently post harsh things about her (twice so far in this post). Mostly you call her a “hooker” or insinuate she is a slut… which of all the things we could accuse her of, seems rather off and strange.

It seems personal… are a Pattinson fan and so hate you her for that reason? I know there are lots of girls/women who direct vitriol to her because of that. I’m seriously curious..

  48. jensational says:

Im trying to figure out the exact time when street walkin dresses became red carpet, glamourous, acceptable dreses…..

  49. Nancy says:

How old are you women who are criticizing a 21 year old girl you do not know? Instead of spewing negativity, try saying something positive and be a role model for young girls. You will feel better about yourselves, I promise.

  50. kira says:

I’ve come to the conclusion that she looks refreshing.

At first, my eyes could not process her at all. Probably because of all the mega-toned, workout-obsessed, bleached Barbies, and plastic-surgery addicts I’ve been subjected to over the years. She doesn’t fry her skin, or spray it with orange glow. She doesn’t look overly styled. Her hair doesn’t look blown-out, highlighted, or processed within an inch of its life. She doesn’t have flotation devices strapped to her smallish chest. Her lips are not inflated. And she doesn’t let the fact that her straight legs have no calves stop her from wearing cute minis.

It took a little while getting used to seeing an unadulterated kid. But now, I like her. I find her flaws charming because she lets herself be. Imagine that. 😉

  51. Dingles says:

She’s so boring. Same old minidress every time, just in different colors.

  52. jenni says:

@Sarahb and Nancy I agree. Personally I sorta find her endearing. So she doesn’t have good posture, so what. She is not trying to be the sexpot, she seems into being herself. She’s probably trying to make sure how she looks doesn’t dominate what’s on her mind, cos she knows all Hollywood forces are working against that.I think that’s admirable considering the pressure they put actresses under. She seems like she is into other stuff. I think it’s refreshing she doesn’t do what most other actresses have clearly done– practiced posing a lot in front of mirrors. I don’t blame any of them but it’s nice she is representing for a different kind of woman. I think she is into being an actress, not pin-up. Beyond that, I like her dress and her legs are killer.

  53. truetalk says:

give d girl a break, she’ll get there one day and become a red carpet pro. i think d scowl and lip biting is a defense mechanism for her insecurities.

  54. Diane says:

It’s a toss up between Kristen and Ellen Page on who looks more miserable in a dress.

  55. almond says:

@ Diane Nah, she owns that dress (no pun intended), it’s the red carpet that’s apparently problematic. Ellen Page, on the other hand, just doesn’t mesh well with anything girly. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  56. aquarius64 says:

The awkwardness could be explained away when she started this franchise, but she has been at this for three years so she should have developed some polish on the red carpet by now. The act makes her look immature.

  57. ninal says:

aw, why are people so hellbent on thinking she’s cranky and miserable due to like four pictures from that night? Look how cute she looks here:

    http://www.imagebam.com/image/8f6fd3135817753

  58. Elizabeth says:

I like the dress but not the color – it washes her out. Her hair looks good. A stylist could do a lot for her – i.e. get her clothes that hide the slouching, work with the right colors, etc. The “Old Hollywood” actors (Debbie Reynolds, Liz Taylor, etc.) always said how the studios required them to be professional, well-dressed, “on” in public. No more, I see – even at industry events like this.

  59. MG says:

She looks great, I wish I had her long, lean legs. I’m short and my legs look thick if I weigh more than 83 lbs, which is a tough number for me to reach if I want to you know, eat food.

Would any of us seriously be upset if we had her body? Sure, her posture could be better, but maybe she’s a little self conscious about showing so much skin. For some reason she doesn’t seem inclined to proudly flaunt her body.

  60. jemshoes says:

LOL Kaiser! I don’t mind K-Stew but I really do understand why a lot of us want to tell her to stand up straight, quit slouching and stop with the eye-rolling (and lip-biting). And, yes, I’m getting a little exhausted too by Kristen’s exhaustion on the red carpet, in interviews, etc. If she doesn’t grow up after all this Twilight insanity, we’ll know this is how she really is … and then even fence-sitters like me will stop paying attention to her.

  61. kwoww says:

i have the same coloring as her, the fair skin, dark red hair and blue eyes, and that color does people like us no justice. She would look better in grey, blues and light purples.

  62. Charlotte says:

    She looks good, imo.

  63. Cassie says:

I find it refreshing than the hand on hip, crossed legs, look over the shoulder posing. I think her look says “hi, I’m Kristen Stewart” you know, normal? Some of the girls on the red carpet trying to look so sexy just look desperate. Kristen is an actor, not a dress up doll waste of space like Paris Hilton.
