Ooooh! David and Victoria Beckham have debuted the most beautiful girl in the world, their daughter Harper Seven on their respective social networking sites. David put a photo of Posh and Harper on his Facebook page (with the message “I took this picture of my two girls sleeping”), while Posh put a photo of David and Harper on her Twitter (with the message “Daddy’s Little Girl”). At this point, all you can really tell about Harper is that she seems to have her mom’s dark hair and her mom’s little upturned nose. Hopefully, there will be a good dash of David in there too! Speaking of, David once again tried to explain why in the world they chose “Harper Seven” as their little girl’s name:
Harper Seven Beckham’s name symbolizes more than just her dad’s soccer jersey number. In a video posted Friday on his Facebook page, David Beckham explains the significance of his and wife Victoria’s newborn daughter’s unique moniker.
“A lot of people have assumed that it’s just because it was my shirt number that I wore for many years, and part of it is,” the 36-year-old father of four says. In addition to Harper Seven, born July 10, the Beckhams have three sons: Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 6. “Part of it is because I had so much luck around wearing that number, wearing it for England, wearing it for Manchester United. It was such an influential number throughout my career, and a lucky number, but that wasn’t the main reason.”
So what was? “It symbolizes spiritual perfection, Seven Wonders of the World, seven colors of the rainbow, and in so many cultures around the world, it’s regarded as a lucky number,” he explained. “We love the name. We love Harper Seven.”
Their daughter’s first name, Harper, was a beloved “old English name,” he explained. Also, Victoria’s favorite book, the classic American novel To Kill a Mockingbird, was written by author Harper Lee.

Posh’s favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird, one of the most classic American novels of all time? First, that’s nice, if it’s true. I love TKAM, it’s one of my favorite books, and there’s a reason everyone always names it as their favorite: it’s a beautifully written piece of literature. Second, as Lainey pointed out, at one point, Posh claimed she never reads books. Like, ever. Maybe she was just misquoted, maybe she finally got around to reading a book and it was TKAM. I don’t know. But if Posh just named her daughter Harper to seem fancy and like she reads books…ugh. She would have been better off naming the kid Birkin. Or Vogue. Or Manolo.

I have to laugh that David keeps saying photos of Posh are taken when she’s unaware. She would want to look picture perfect for these photos. Unless it was high school, I doubt she read TKAM. Most babies look alike to me so soon after birth so I can’t say she’s cute.

My parents didn’t read TKAM until 2000 when they were 63 (mom) and 68 (dad). It wasn’t around when they were in school and one day I brought home a copy and they ended up reading and LOVING it. A few months later one of our swanky playhouses had a showing of TKAM with a special pre-movie viewing of Gregory Peck’s first screen test (LOVE).
So yeah, it’s not just for high schoolers.

Baby Harper is absolutely adorable and to those who said they doubt TKAM is Victoria’s favorite book people have had stranger favorite books. one of my favoirte novels I’ve never read is A Jest Of God by Margaret Lawrence on which the oscar nominated film Rachel Rachel is based and when the book was re issued in the early 1970′s the title was changed to Rachel Rachel after the success of the film

The baby is so cute! How sweet. Maybe Victoria saw the movie but didn’t want to admit it was the movie instead of the book. The movie follows the book closely, to the point that some of the dialog in the movie is lifted straight from the book.

i think we read TKAM in high school-but i honestly dont remember it at all…and there are other great books that i’ve managed to read since then, so it is not shameful to say you havent read it….
that said, my first thought was that VB read it in school at one point, before 3 kids [and she does seem like hands on mom, whatever else you may say about her] and her busy lifestyle/career.
So she prob meant she had not read a book in her adult life, b/c she does not have time…..
Second, Lainey is a psycho to me-
I mean, WHO ‘as ifs’ someone for a WHOLE freakin’ year for any reason? It’s a bit obsessive-
but add to that, for the name of someone’ innocent new baby, that they are obv. happy and excited about sharing, and you have psycho, in my mind.
I gotta stop reading her blog-i only do it out of boredom when i’m done with the others-but still….
she’s too much for me.
She has the mindset of a 19 yr old or younger-(no offense to 19 yr olds) and isnt she in her late 30′s? she’s like my age-

I think they’d do better just sticking with “Harper is an old English name Victoria has always loved” and “Seven is my lucky number and a spiritual number” rather than trying to tie it to Harper Lee.
Nobody is going to raise an eyebrow at Victoria simply liking an old fashioned name from her country; trying to establish that she’s really into a famous American novel/author, when she’s been pretty vocal about not reading, stretches credibility a bit.
Especially since she wrote about Harper Lee in the past tense and Harper Lee is still alive…

I am (slightly) older than Victoria, but am English too and TKAM was my required reading for English literature ‘O’ level … Not sure she got any ‘O’ levels, but she may have had to read the book anyway …

Lol @ David trying to say “look, here’s a candid of my wife and baby!” There is no way in heck Victoria would allow candid photos. Everything has to be posh and perfect–makeup, hair, clothes, position, etc. Like that photo of her laying down and the pregnant belly exposes. ALL CAREFULLY PLANNED! Pfft.

Those pics just make my heart melt. ESPECIALLY the one with David. Congarts to them both! I just recently had another ultrasound done to make sure that Mr. JustMe and I were having a boy, and SURPRISE! “He” is actually a “She”!!! The person who originally did our ultrasound messed up (which is okay. That sorta stuff happens) and thought she saw something that actually wasn’t there. Needless to say, we’re both thrilled.

Don’t tell me in that “candid” shot of Victoria resting with the baby that she just happened to have her false eyelashes on at the moment. So horribly staged and phony. Which pretty much sums up what I think about these two as human beings.
And David shouldn’t wear sleeveless shirts — his tattoos are poorly drawn. Here’s a hint for people who want to get tattoos: they are permanent; make sure you actually pick a good artist.

So sweet! David and Victoria finally have their precious baby girl after 3 gorgeous little boys! Harper Seven’s going to be Daddy’s little princess and the apple of mummy’s eye, and adored by her older brothers. Lucky little girl!
(My first thought about Harper was that maybe Victoria had named her daughter after the fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar!)

What the Jolie Pitts did made perfect sense in their situation – a situation that the Beckhams could only dream about. Taking all that money that was going to be inevitably made off a picture of their child and ensure that it went for good use and not into the pockets of some paparazzi and their agencies – now that is a good thing.

Ugh. This is the type of thing that gives brangeloonies a bad name. Because you know for certain that selling your babies pictures to an international magazine would be a situation that all parents should be dreaming about! It all makes perfect sense! Maybe she has eyelash extensions?
But really when you’re looking at eyelashes from that angle they quite often look that long. She looks like she just has eyeliner and mascara on to me.
I don’t like David’s sleeves.
I guess I’m the only one but I love it when celebrities sell their pictures and donate it to charities. I know people think it’s famewhore-ish but I can’t help but think that charities are benifiting from it! I would love to make a large donation like some celebrities are able to in my child’s name!
