Craig Ferguson and Charlize both became citizens! Yeah, America!

  6. Awww, Daisy, don’t make me CRY!

You know the reason I’m leaving is much more important than politics… love makes the world go ’round, right?

Besides, lol, I betcha anything I have more of a chance of seeing you in London than I ever did in B.F.E. western Washington, lol.

  7. Another “Im moving” speech. Puuh-leez. They never really leave and if they do, they always come back, even if its with a really bad fake accent.

Codzilla, your new icon is cute

Edit* Codilla, my husband just bought me the Meercats yard statues, these critters are cute.

  12. Given that neither of them is American, this is sort of like a house guest telling his/her host “I don’t like how you’ve decorated, so I’m leaving”. Ridiculous. Too bad their greencards can’t be revoked just for being so rude as presumptuous.

  15. They can’t even vote!!! Man, I am so sick of these damn celebos thinking they can walk on water and can influence every weak minded tardo out there. Who cares if they threaten to leave if Mccain wins? Is that supposed to mean crap to us??? the actual Americans who were born and live here? Heidi and Seal…you can kiss my starred and striped american ass

  16. The farting dog movie is based on a dog from the city I WISH I was still living in :(

I’m not in the states so I can’t say I’d leave- but I’m prolly not going down for a visit anytime soon.

Daisy: Are the statues based on the Meercats from the show? Either way, they are adorable creatures, indeed.

  20. Diva, come to Europe, darling.. Your wit and wisdom will be appreciated here. :)). All I can say is that I lived in the US for a very long time and NEVER had any desire to become a citizen though it would have been easy in my case. So there is nothing weird about Seal and Heidi not becoming citizens even though they live in the States. Why do people in the US always assume it’s everyone’s desire to become US citizens? I love Americans but I don’t recognize the US anymore–in the past 8 years it has become a different country. I decided to leave this year for varoius reasons (many of them having to do with the fact that the US, in my view, is no longer the best country to raise my kids in) and, looking at what’s going on right now, I’m glad I did. I’m fearful that some right wing nut will make an attempt at Obama’s life and afraid what will come as a result of that. I think that politically and economically the country will become polarized to an unprecedented degree.
Recession will only add to it. The level of hatemongering is scary and, with the economy in the crapper, it’s only going to get worse. It was pretty clear to me two years ago when I planned the move … amazing that most people couldn’t bother to educate themselves to find out. But then these are the people who want to take away someone’s Green Card for expressing his views or accuse another for not being patriotic because he’s not wearing a pin… Watching Fox doesn’t help either.

  21. Does anybody care? Are they in the U.S.? I thought they lived in London lololol. Is there some pathetic U.S. citizen staking their residency based on what Seal and Heidi do? Ohhhh I hope not!!! I hope McCain wins cause it just might kill off Jane Fonda finally!

  22. Honestly, I wish that people who don’t like this country WOULD leave. It would sure make it easier for those of us who want to stick it out and repair things if the haters would leave.

I’m staying put no matter who gets elected. This is my country, and I’m not leaving just because someone who doesn’t share my worldview gets the big chair for a term.

People THAT short-sighted and with no more love for this nation than that?

    Seriously…get the hell out.

  28. My fiance and I, who are both American, have genuinely been talking about moving abroad if Obama doesn’t win. Though I think he won’t follow through when it comes down to it. He has this crazy thing about taking care of his aging parents, damnit. Mine can fend for themselves. No, seriously mine are fine.

As far as celebs, they come and go anyway so who cares. I don’t think that Heidi meant it as a public threat though. She doesn’t strike as that type.

  31. Heidi and Seal:
Don’t be mad if McCain wins. You should have expected it. It’s just like George Carlin said: It’s not the politicians that suck, it’s the public! If we have a dishonest, mindless society, of course they’re going to elect dishonest, mindless people into office!

  36. Heidi, Seal, I only wish that was an option for my family. But I am optimistic that Obama will win.

As for those who wonder why… McCain/Palin are fanning the flames of racism, fear, and hate mongering. Those of us with nonwhite family members are concerned about their safety.

  37. Oh, like other countries aren’t more corrupt than ours and they don’t have people that make pretty speeches but are backed by horrible people that have committed crimes against humanity. Come On!!!
Don’t forget people, Obama is a P-O-L-I-T-I-C-I-A-N. He is like all the others, on either side. He says what he has to in order to be elected, makes fine and even rousing speeches, hits all the hot button topics, promises you more money in your pockets, a better health care system, money for college, fairness for all, entitlement programs up the whazzhoo, you know, cradle to the grave stuff, but how much of what he has campaigned on will come to pass?? Very, very little. Or it will be at a higher cost, monetarily or personally, than you ever dreamed of. It’s what he is NOT saying that bothers me. How will these shiny new programs be paid for and who will pay for them, REALLY? Beware of mass adulation and mind think, on either side because ultimately they will use and abuse us for our vote and then kick us to the curb in the morning. I’ve been around long enough to have witnessed this over and over again. We will be disappointed by whoever scams us into believing them and thereby casting out vote for them in order for them to take office. Oh, by the way, So Long Heidi.

  38. Um, Ter, everything you say is equally applicable to McCain, only more transparently so, so what is the point? And don’t tell me that McCain is not a P-O-L-I-T-I-C-I-A-N, my God, he is almost up to a new policy each day.

  39. Wow, it sure is easy to step on American toes! Anybody who doesn’t blindly agree with all that ‘best country in the world’ crap (nevermind that the vast majority of people who say it have never been abroad) should just get the hell out?

  40. I surprised McCain still has support. His age alone and his dumb running mate should be reason enough for his followers to do themselves a favour and wait another eight years for a shot.

Palin is a dangerous woman. She spreads hate and extremism with a smile.

  41. I’m not an american but i’ve been following the politics from my 2 favorite shows with jon stewart and colbert, probably not the most serious sources. Some of the clips I’ve seen, with the funny accusations of Obama having serious terrorist ties, etc and the hate mongering from the crowd they rile up make Mccain / Palin seem like a bad/immature choice. I haven’t seen too much of that from the Obama camp, although these shows may have some bias themselves :)

  42. Just once when some celeb makes such a comment. They should actually stick to their word and leave. They are just two in a long line of celeb’s who have made similar comments during other elections and none of the others who made similar comments when any where else.

Wow, talk about missing the point completely. What we’re saying is that people (namely celebrities) who “threaten” to leave the US if their favorite politician doesn’t win are more than welcome to hit the road. What, are we supposed to fall to our knees and beg Heidi and Seal to stay? Maybe that’s how you would react, but we have more important concerns these days.

  45. I’m not in Tokyo. :) I’m in Okinawa. We’ll be here for a couple more years. I will finally be able to live in the U.S. again some time in 2010. We are enjoying Japan, however, and I’m so glad we’re getting this experience.

  46. @Maritza - Has a rare skin condition, discoid lupus erythematosis (DLE), sorry, not putting a link as the spambots always get me, but google Seal and DLE for more info.

I like these two a lot but wish celebs would keep their travel plans on this particular subject to themselves since they rarely DO leave the country, regardless of the result, and these sort of comments follow them about forever and they end up just looking foolish.
