Cher wanted to buy Chaz that p3nis he wants, but he said no

We heard from the world’s most famous transgender man Chaz Bono earlier this month that he was hoping to raise the money to complete his transition and surgically get a male part. Chaz went on in a Rolling Stone interview about his options for being more authentic down there, and I’ll spare you the details but whatever route he goes it will be expensive. He estimated that it would cost between $25,000 and $45,000 and said he was saving up the money for it. Well Chaz’s famous mom Cher supposedly offered to pay for it and Chaz said “no.” These two have been at odds since Chaz broke it off with his fiancee, Jennifer Elia, and Chaz doesn’t want to take a handout.

After her nasty blowup with son Chaz Bono over his breakup with fiancee Jennifer Elia, devastated mom Cher’s frantic to make up with her… offspring – so she offered to gift him with the surgically constructed penis he so desperately desires! “Cher hates being at odds with Chaz – she only wants the best for him,” says a sourec. “But almost everything she says makes him angry, which finally triggered the fight to end all fights, when she told him that Jennifer had never loved him. Chaz stormed out, saying he never wants to see his mom again. But Chaz has publicly stated that he wants to make his gender transformation complete by opting for surgery to construct a penis – so in an effort to mend fences, Cher has offered to pay docs the estimated $50,000-plus it will cost to buy the penis…”

“Sadly, Chaz sent word through a close friend that he does not want his mother’s handout, and will earn the money himself. Cher is heartbroken.”

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, Mike Walker’s column, Jaunary 30, 2012]

I like to think that I would be accepting and loving if one of my kids told me they were born the wrong gender, but I don’t know if I’d be accepting enough to actually help them with the transition. It would really depend on the circumstances. Cher has admitted that she struggled with it when Chaz made the transition to male. How hard must it have been for her to offer to pay for her onetime daughter to get a penis? Chaz has shown himself to be a pompous, humorless ass lately. I’m primarily talking about how he responded to his critics on DWTS, and how he is rumored to have handled his breakup. I’m not surprised he denied his mother’s offer. He’s only screwing himself out of a penis by being so stubborn about it. Still, just because I don’t like Chaz doesn’t mean I should judge. If Cher is telling him his girlfriend never loved him I don’t blame him for not wanting to deal with her. Family sh*t can be complicated. Also, this is one of the most momentous changes in his life and there’s surely a lot of pride involved in knowing he paid for it himself.

Morally, I don’t have any problem with Chaz wanting to change sexes- but damn, everytime I see that little girl Chastity, from The Sonny and Cher show’s, face on his giant man body- it skeeves me out.

  2. Azurea says:

Oh, I disagree! He’s showing maturity by wanting to pay for it himself. He probably realizes it wouldn’t be great if every time he gets a stiffie, the thought
“Thanks, Mom!” would be running through his head.

    • Delta Juliet says:

I agree! My first thought was “Well good for him.” Too many people aren’t willing to work and save for themselves these days (and yes, I can be guilty of that myself. Of course, my mom isn’t Cher)

  3. Darlene says:

“Screwing himself out of a penis.”

    well said. 🙂

  4. aenflex says:

I support Chaz. And think it’s good that Cher has come around.

  5. Lucy says:

When some people don’t have enough to eat, sometimes they will stand on a street corner with a sign “will work for food” I don’t know why the image of Chaz, holding a sign saying “will work for penis” jumped right into my brain….

    • Eleonor says:

      LOL!

    • Justaposter says:

      OHMYGAWWWWWWWWWWWWD!

      BWAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!

The only problem I have with Chaz is, the fact that he is a total DOUCHE. It’s not like he is the first person ever on the face of the planet to do this.. but damn! The way he acts, he sure thinks he is.

    • Petunia says:

      LOL!

I must be the only one, because the whole lopping off a body part to make your body match what your mind is saying just creeps me out. I can see people doing it who are born as hermaphrodites or with chromosomes of the opposite sex.

But it seems to me that Chaz is just an unhappy soul (untalented with talented parents and a beautiful and hugely popular, well-known mother) who thought that slapping a penis on would solve everything. And he is surprised and angry to find that it doesn’t.

I realize I’m in the minority here but truly, that’s my take on Chaz and his sex change. I would be deeply surprised to find out he’s been wanting to be a male since he was a child. I don’t think so, in his case. I suspect that this was Chaz’s way of being an individual, and not having to compete against his mother.

      • Lindsay says:

I agree with you on the “unhappy soul” thing. I could be completely wrong but I think it’s a kind of mental illness or something, a chronic inability to accept yourself that drives people to feel that way. I don’t know… There is something about it that bothers me. However, I have never felt the feeling of being unhappy with my gender, so maybe I am being naive. Any transgender people on here?

And in regards to Cher buying him a penis… it seems ‘off’, in a symbolic sense. I guess a guy would wanna know that he was able to provide his own manhood… even tho originally it would come from your parents!!! hmm.

  6. Justaposter says:

Does anyone else think that Chaz totally pulls the “Mom you never accepted meeeeeeeeeeeeeee” card?

Does anyone else think that Cher totally tries to jump through hoops now for Chaz, due to her not handling it well in the begining?

Maybe the smart one of the bunch is her son, who we never, ever see.

  7. Cirque28 says:

Oh, I could see helping with the transition, although I can also understand Chaz’s desire to do it on his own. But who knew Cher was so codependent? When someone vows never to speak to you again, give them a little space and maybe they’ll come around. Don’t chase after them and insist they accept a pricey new penis from you. Jeez.

  8. Lucy says:

Chaz is so impolite…doesn’t he know when someone offers you a penis, you should always say “thank you”!

    • OriginalTiffany says:

I know I do. I mean, it’s the hubby, but if one is offered only polite to accept.

Chaz is so morbidly obese that it does freak me out to think of him as cute Chastity Bono.

    • burlesquefan says:

It’one of those things your parents have to teach you. LMFAO. I blame Cher for not being instilling these common sensical values because she was on tour so much.

  9. Umlaut says:

Man, Cher has amazing legs. What I would’t give for pins like that!

  10. Victoria says:

Okay, so now Chaz has become a man and everyone accepts him, why is he still obese? You would think that now the psychological crisis is over, time to stop eating. What woman would want a man that fat?

    • burlesquefan says:

      LOL. That’s too damn funny.

      • gg says:

I don’t think she said that to be funny. It is an obviously real problem. And more than that – he might be a LOT happier person by living a healthier lifestyle. I know he can lose weight – he lost 30-40 lbs on that celeb weight club show. Not to be insensitive, but a tiny penis is not going to be the “Key to Eternal Happiness” when your real barrier to happiness and feeling good about your body is your weight – not exercising and eating more than you can burn off.

If he was 40 lbs or less overweight, it wouldn’t really even be notable – but the truth is, he’s getting larger every few months – look at the photos. And he is medically, “morbidly obese”. It’s very dangerous to be having surgery in that condition.

  11. Brittney says:

“Cher’s frantic to make up with her… offspring”

That’s so, so nasty, NE. Not funny. It shows how easy it still is to get away with blatant prejudice against/belittlement of transgendered people. He identifies as a man; he is a man, period. Being born in the wrong body is excruciating enough without snide, under-handed comments like that in the press. I know tabloids aren’t a great source of intellect or social progress, but still. Have some GD respect.

And yes, it’s one little phrase in one trashy magazine, but yes, it is a big deal. Imagine being treated like a piece of trash someone picked up with a stick and couldn’t bother to identify.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed that. Such blatant disregard for another person and the fact that they identify as a MAN, so he is her SON, period! Why is that so difficult to understand, do they actually think they’re being funny?

    • Amanda G says:

I noticed that too. So wrong!

    • Petunia says:

I know it’s not commonly accepted in today’s world, but not everyone agrees with everything that goes down in today’s world. I know we aren’t supposed to admit to not agreeing, but I don’t particularly agree with this surgery. I grew up in a time where people voiced differing opinions without those opinions being either deleted or empahtically being called “wrong.” I understand that other people accept this particular situation (transgender) and that’s fine. I don’t happen to agree with it. And I still think people have the right to disagree without a war ensuing.

      • Remote Control says:

It’s just weird to have a negative opinion about what another person does with their body. At the very least, we should be indifferent because it has nothing to do with us.

      • Pruddy says:

Petunia…I agree…as people are different…so do they think differently…I refuse to go along like a herd and agree with everyday just so I could appear cool and liberal.

      • Shannon says:

So just because you disagree with the idea of transgendered people (I’m not sure how you can “disagree” with the existence of a type of person) means it’s ok for Chaz to be publicly belittled? This is the reason so many gay and transgendered kids commit suicide. Your opinion is not just ideology. It has very real detrimental effects, and you know that. If you don’t like confronting that reality, that’s too bad. But people who think like you do go out of their way to make life even harder for people like Chaz (see The Bobster’s comments below). It doesn’t affect you personally at all to refer to Chaz as a son instead of a daughter, but it affects Chaz a great deal when you insist on publicly stating your denial of who he is as an individual.

You are entitled to your opinion. I’m entitled to tell you what sort of horrible consequences arise from that opinion.

@Pruddy, it’s sad that you think accepting people for who they are is done to appear “cool and liberal”. I do it to uphold the inherent dignity of every individual. I do it so kids know that they have allies and aren’t alone in a world that seems intolerant of their very existence. I do it so I can sleep at night with a clear conscience, knowing that my hateful words or actions didn’t prompt someone to kill himself.

  12. Lem says:

It’s very admirable to want to buy your own tool. (Think – would you even want a d!ld0 your mother bought?) Wouldn’t want to thank Mom for a big O. One would think it completely necessary to buy your own equipment when your Mother is a sacred poster child within the LGBT, for which you are the current face. Poor Chaz would be hounded for the d!ck that CHER built.

On an aside, I thought, and I’m sure he thought… This transition would make him happier. Chastity was always so sweet and somewhat eloquent. Lately, Chaz is so sour and kurt. I hope he gets back to the root of his personality soon.

  13. Ramie says:

what’s that old saying…don’t look a gift penis in the mouth

  14. Jane says:

What about the hormones he is taking? Maybe they have something to do with him being difficult lately.

  15. Petunia says:

How much is that penis in the window, the one with the waggly “tail?”

  16. The Bobster says:

So what does Chastity No-Boner actually do for a living that will earn her 50 grand?

It’s not like she’s a woman with a husband who will front her the money for a pair of bolt-ons.

  17. Maya says:

I know I shouldn’t laugh, but the title of this post is goddamn hilarious..it has Freudian connotations but in reverse.

  18. MSat says:

Male, female, whatever, that’s cool. But that is a whole lotta ugly either way, and I’m not sure a penis would make things any better.

  19. Mrs. Odie 2 says:

I don’t think he’d get much of a penis. Hormones might make a clitoris grow to the size of a thumb, but it’s too sensitive to use as a penis. And if you put some phallus down there just for looks that isn’t functional, where’s the fun in that? I don’t think surgery is a good option for female to male sexual reassignment.

Chaz should use the money for a gastric bypass and a gym membership.

    • NikkiG says:

Wow. So what have you done to base your opinion on fact? Please cite your research sites because you sound completely informed on the subject. Amazingly intelligent, as well.

  20. hatekyle says:

Really? Is Cher gonna donate hers?

  21. Lady Satan says:

“…I don’t know if I’d be accepting enough to actually help them with the transition…”

REALLY? So if you had a child that was born missing an arm, or a leg, or with a cleft palate, would you have trouble helping them offset the cost of medical treatment to correct that?

This is surgery to correct a birth defect, nothing more, nothing less. Those born into the wrong bodies had no more choice in the matter than someone born missing an arm.

    • The Bobster says:

Birth defect? What are you thinking? She did not have a defective body. She’s just screwed up in the head.

      • Lady Satan says:

HE is dealing with the fact that HE was born with female genitalia when in fact HE is a man.

It is a birth defect, much like your own – I pity your being born without a brain or an ounce of compassion.

  22. Shannon says:

Oops that should have been a reply.

  23. NikkiG says:

Can most of you commenters on sex-reassignment surgery do any sort of scientific research before typing? The lack of truth, intelligence or fact in a lot of these posts are disgusting. I don’t even watch the show, but someone’s weight should not be mocked. He is on several medications and hormones that cause people to gain. I am sickened by this uneducated dialog, but I am a woman, and I worry about my wieght and looks like everyone else and I am horified by these “Middle – America” completely uneducated opinions stated as facts.
