Beyonce and Jay-Z release first photos of Blue Ivy Carter

Beyonce and Jay-Z have shared photos of their adorable one month old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. The photos were posted on Jay Z’s website, Life and Times, along with a new Tumblr site made just for the occasion, Hello Blue Ivy Carter. They included photos of both Jay and Beyonce holding their beautiful baby along with a handwritten note asking for privacy. The note says:

“We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives. – The Carter Family.”

It’s nice to see a celebrity couple releasing baby photos online instead of opting for a magazine spread. My first impression is that this baby is very sweet and looks a lot like her dad. I don’t see much Beyonce in her and I’ll leave it at that. Only time will tell and some babies look significantly different within a few short months.

Beyonce just made her first post-baby appearance at an event at Carnegie hall where Jay-Z performed. Her nails were painted blue in honor of Blue Ivy. Beyonce looked incredible for a woman who had just had a baby a month prior. She reportedly achieved such fast weight loss through two two-hour workouts each day and a strict diet of “six tiny high protein meals a day.”

Congratulations to Beyonce and Jay-Z on their new arrival! They look elated and that baby is precious.

Beautiful baby! Whether theirs, or whomever’s that child is really gorgeous!

It’s rare to see a newborn with already such beautifully defined features.

    • Whatever says:

She looks more like Beyonce than JayZ. Thank the good lord. And Blue Ivy is effin beautiful.

    • RocketMerry says:

About the very defined features of the baby, if the rumours are true the carrier gave birth a few weeks before the scheduled official day that Bey&Jay wanted. That was one of the reasons why they could not show her right after the 8th, it would have been clear she was born before.
Cute child, let’s hope she grows up healthy, loved and well educated.

      • Emma - the JP lover says:

98% of black babies are born with full heads of hair and alert, well-defined features. I can show you plenty of photos of babies in my immediate and extended family who look just like that at Blue’s age.

The child looks like a perfect cross between Beyonce and Jay Z, with a tad more of Beyonce (thank goodness!). And her boobs got way too big for a fake pregnancy.

      • Whatever says:

There’s a picture flaoting around on the net of Beyonce’s baby pic, and she looks JUST like Blue Ivy. I want this site to show those pics, its clear as day the baby looks just like Beyonce and Beyonce’s mom.

      • Whatever says:

    • Me says:

      Agreed! She’s B E A U T I F U L. I can see Beyonce’s features though. Blue was probably carried by a surrogate. Nothin to be ashamed of. Once again, that baby’s simply adorable! 😉

    • Me says:

No question! She’s their biological daughter but, there’s no way in hell Bey was pregnant!

    • Debbie says:

Yawn. Baby photos are more boring than vacation photos. Where’s the C-section scar?! It would be more fun. BTW Um… Both parents are black and that baby is white????

      • Emma - the JP lover says:

LOL!! Again, some of you just haven’t seen many black babies. One of my nephews looked like that until he was 7 or eight. Both of his parents (my sister and her husband) or light. My sister looked the same when she was a baby, yet I was much darker. It’s called genetics, people. That’s why blacks, often in the same immediate family, are sometimes different shades. The baby got the ‘light’ gene from Beyonce.

      • OMSS says:

Black babies are usually born a little lighter than the colour they are ‘suppose to be’ and with a looser hair texture. Beyonce and Jay-Z are not ‘dark’ so the baby may eventually become their skin tone (a few shades up) or the baby may take after Beyonce’s mother Tina (a throwback) who is quite light and of Creole descent.

It is quite difficult to predict the colouring or hair type of African-American or African-Caribbean babies due to our history. I have two full-blood sisters and we all have different skin tones and hair textures.

      • ol cranky says:

you have no idea how many black women do a double take when they are handed what appears to be a “white” baby. Most brown eyed babies are born with blue eyes and the pigment eventually kicks in

      • SHump76 says:

What pictures are you looking at? That baby doesn’t look even remotely white. Beyonce looks whiter than that baby in every single advert she’s ever done. Anyway, I think that baby looks totally theirs, and I’m starting to believe Bey may actually have been pregnant, from the look of her now.

    • Ha! says:

Time will tell whether they had the kid geneticallengeneered to look more like Beyondfake tyan Zhit. Also with the type of money they have, I am sure they made it to where it had lighter skin and then implanted the embryo in a surrogate. Either that or the real mom is white.

    • Lucy says:

I don’t want everyone coming down on me, but my first thought when I saw this baby’s perfectly defined features, was, this looks like one of those lifelike newborn baby dolls…

    • Whatever says:

There’s a pic floating around of Beyonce’s baby pic and she looks just like Blue Ivy.Blue Ivy popped out of Beyonce;s vagina.

    • Whatever says:

    • Esperanza Spalding says:

In the case of Blue Ivy, JAYZ you are NOT the father!

I hope the surrogate was compensated very well

  2. SG says:

Awww, I think she has Beyonce’s eyes. Cute baby!

  3. fallen says:

Such a cute baby! Everyone seems very happy.

  4. ViktoryGin says:

She doesn’t look like Jay-Z. There’s a sigh of relief heard round the world.

    • Assistantrachel says:

      LMAO!

      • Bleuladi says:

I agree. She would have a rough life with his nose and lips. She is beautiful and looks like Beyonce. To say you don’t see her is rediculous and I’m
Not a big fan of hers.

    • cbear says:

She looks exactly like Beyonce’s mom and nephew. spitting image!

      • Linda says:

Exactly. My thoughts exactly. Her mom has some really strong genes. If anyone has ever seen Solange’s son–drop dead gorgeous; they make pretty babies.

      • someone says:

oh my goodness he is one gorgeous kid! and i’m sure this baby will be too.

      • Stacy Dresden says:

Absolutely! I saw her and my second thought (after AWW!) was…TINA genes! I find it really surprising that the author writes that B.I. closely resembles Jay-Z. She is totally her mother’s (mother’s) daughter.

  5. Buffy says:

I agree, she looks like him. Very cute, hopefully she does not grow into his features.;-) Very curious what the “carrier” looks like 😉

  6. ZenB!tch says:

Looks like her dad? Hell to da no. She’s beautiful. I think she looks like her mom. I love the wavy hair, I can’t wait to see her as a toddler with it grown out.

  7. valleymiss says:

    Very cute kid!

Funny – Tmz just posted a story about these pics and made zero mention of the fake pregnancy controversy…but then they put a poll at the bottom of the post that simply says, “Something fishy? Yes/no.” When I voted it was I think 62% fishy.

I just think it’s comical that Tmz would not reference the controversy and gossip in their story, but then did a sly allusion to it in their poll. 😉

  8. fatkid says:

    Gorgeous!!!

  9. Assistantrachel says:

Awww, too cute. And I’m really glad they didn’t try to profit from her pictures (even if they are trying to trademark her name)

  10. Newtsgal says:

    I’m throwing the bullsh*t flag!
    Yes….it’s a cute baby
Ain’t no way in hell it came from them two.

    • Lithe says:

I think Blue Ivy has her her dad’s mouth. It’ll be interesting to see what her colouring looks like in a couple months.

    • paola says:

In the 1st picture the baby looks WHITE?! wtf??

      • Lithe says:

She doesn’t look white. She looks like her colouring hasn’t come in yet. And that full head of straight hair is going to be very kinky before she is 2 years old.

    • lis says:

I think she has Bey’s eyes.

But then, I also think that she did in fact give birth to her.

      Yeah, I said it.

      *edges towards the exits*

Oh, and the baby is gorgeous.

  11. Agnes says:

    cuteness!

  12. MW says:

I am going to say “Hmmmmmm”. That is all. Any questions I have will probably be misconstrued.

  13. whatthehell456 says:

Beautiful baby, no doubt about it. But is it really theirs? Who knows…everyone looks so happy in the pics that for the next 5 mins I’m going to imagine that this is a normal, non-famous couple that just wanna enjoy their baby 🙂
I’ll rejoin the rest of the conspiracy theorists later…..

    • jc126 says:

Oh, I think genetically the baby is theirs, just not that Beyonce carried her.
Normally I don’t think babies look like either parent initially, but I can see Beyonce’s eyes. I think.

      • Bluebear says:

        These are my thoughts exactly.

      • Brigitte says:

Yes! I immediately saw the eye similarities. Beyonce and Jay are the biological parents, but Beyonce is not the carrier. Very wide space between the nose and mouth. That could be a little strange looking later, like William H. Macy or somethin.(ducks) Just sayin.

  14. jip says:

omg, weird! it looks like a cross between jay-z and beyonce!

  15. jermsmom says:

OK, I won’t say a word about the conspiracy (even though i really want to!) but didn’t Beyonce have a c-section? Am I wrong about that? Because if she did then i am calling complete bullshit on the two two-hour workouts a day!!!

  16. Marianne says:

I think Beyonce was really pregnant but used padding to accentuate the bump and that’s why it looked off at times. If you look at the new pics of her, her boobs look bigger, and she looks a bit hippy. As for the baby, I see a little of jay in her. Doesnt look exactly like him though.

    • lis says:

      I totally agree.

Sometimes pregnant women, especially if it’s their first time, will want to look more pregnant and bumpy than they really are.

Some of them wear maternity clothes before they really need them. Some of them pad.

Totally natural, but it backfired for Beyonce when people started to question whether or not she was pregnant.

I thought she was very sweet (nauseating pregnancy announcement aside), but I know Beyonce annoys a lot of people.

    • JJ200 says:

@Marianne – you are one of the few on this thread who can post something intelligent.

      • Robin says:

@Marianne…yep..you’re a breath of fresh air on this thread. I’m an ob nurse and mother of 3 and I always thought b was preggers. Her ob probably instructed her to use a tummy shield. This would make her bump appear larger..but the intent of the shield is to protect the tummy in case of injury(like taking a timble while wearing 5 in heesls or some crazed lunatic trying to attack)

    • Angel says:

Exactly. Man, I really loathe the nature of this ‘story’. I wish it would go away and side-eye the hale out of anyone perpetuating it :/.

    • SweetLou says:

Tell’em Marianne! People fail to see that as a possibility. These annoying surrogate rumors need to stop! And I’m sorry, those still carrying it after all this are idiots! What’s worse, the family has not even acknowledged those dumb ass rumors, just living their lives, loving their baby like those haters don’t even exist!

Beautiful little girl….her parents look so proud.

  17. El Kiddo says:

The nose is cute. Thank God.

  18. Hypocricy says:

That baby is beautiful but since i am not accustomed to new bornS, for mothers out there, doesn’t that baby looks either older than a month old or big for being only one month ?

It seems to me that new borns 4 weeks old, especially if born through planned C section, hence born earlier that they should have a tinier body and less chubby face but i may be wrong.

    • Jen34 says:

If you look at the first picture and compare the size of Beyonce’s hand to the size of the baby, the baby looks tiny and size/age appropriate.

    • OriginalTiffany says:

These pics were taken in the hospital delivery suite!
That makes no sense. No woman, C-section or natural looks like that right after. The baby is in the startle reflex, it doesn’t seem like Mom and brand newborn seems to smell each other and snuggle after birth.

I have never seen a new born look so alert and wide eyed. They have residual puffiness in the eyes, I just don’t get this now at all.
Seems like the surrogate is the only way this baby got here and it got here a bit too early for B’s timeline. I think it’s their’s genetically, but she didn’t carry that kid. She’s not the least bit puffy in the face either.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@originaltiff, I’m one of the lunatics that waxes, and has a full face of makeup and my hair done. I know there will be photos, so I want to look my best! LOL

      • OriginalTiffany says:

@Mort, I did too, but had an unplanned 72 hour labor. I redid all my makeup after the epidural, but I probably looked like hell after my first was born, and yes I go there all dolled up and waxed too.
Courtesy to the staff and all. 🙂

    • Curious says:

      Born earlier?

Some c-sections are due to the mother not going into labor. My baby was 2 weeks overdue and their inducing attempts did absolutely nothing.

  19. NM6804 says:

    – Damn, that picture scared me. Not that it’s an ugly baby but I didn’t expect it and stared at it for a couple of seconds. That said, B is already making her wear wigs, I kid I kid :D.

    – Yeahhh, I don’t see anybody in BIC but that’s me, I never see any resemblance of the parents in a baby. Never.

    – Now, the workouts are a load of crap. Anybody who’s had a baby (I asked a lot of questions when my family members started to procreate) knows that at least the first six weeks are pretty much about giving the body rest. I don’t know how these celebs do those “workouts” but after birth it’s straight up abusing your body for just vanity really. I guess it’s easy when other people take care of your kid to keep yourself occupied for FOUR hours and getting in shape all for public image. There is really no “off-button” for some celebs huh? This is were I give Garner, Pink etcetera credit, they seem to actually marvel in their parenting role and don’t want no strangers to basically raise their child(ren) and are not worried about their bodies being as thin as before as quickly as possible.

    • MW says:

The baby definitely looks old beyond its days, to me. And no offense intend, so nobody needs to take it that way, but the baby looks Hispanic. My son even said, “He looks Hispanic”, and I said “It’s a girl”.

      • Jover says:

I agree mw very odd defin looks older; way the over the shoulder shot?

      • Jaye says:

Black babies often look like that when they are newborn. They haven’t gotten all of their melanin and their newborn hair is straight.

      • db says:

I dont take offense to your comments… I agree (and I’m hispanic). I kinda looked like that when I was born albeit more wrinkly and with more hair. The one thing I find curious about this is (1) yes, if she had a c-section she would not be holding the baby like that so soon nor would she be exercising, and (2) if she had it naturally, the baby wouldnt look like that (definitely looks more than a few days old to me c-section or natural…)

      • kristiner says:

For a baby she has a VERY mature looking face which is kind of weird. Babies have features but they still usually have a baby quality to them.

Blue looks like a CGI of Beyonce’s mom shrinked down to infant size. In the face she just doesn’t look like a baby which is weird.

Sometimes you’ll see little toddler boys who look like little old men. They’re faces are just old looking on a little body. This is Blue Ivy. An older, mature face on a baby body. Odd and kind of kooky.

I will say the straight hair is a little shocking. I expected it to be fine but at least curly. Beyonce has some NA and other stuff from her mom but Jay Z is all black so I expected those genes to dominate and the baby to have wavy, fine hair. Curly almost but still thin texture because babies don’t have coarse hair.

      • Jacq says:

I live in a largely hispanic community and that baby looks hispanic. Doesn’t that go along with the theory that they used a South-American surrogate?

      • OMSS says:

@kristiner, My hair was as straight as Blue Ivy’s hair when I was born and I was born to ‘fully’ black parents (my mother’s father was 5/8 Indian and 3/8 black and her mother is 3/4 black and 1/4 Syrian, and my father has no close mixed heritage in his blood line). My hair eventually went from straight to afro within a year or so.
When it comes to babies of African-American or African-Caribbean descent anything could happen 😀

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@MW, half-Hispanic here and no offense taken. My first son looked a lot like this, and his father is Italian. That being said, most babies have light complexions when they’re born.

    • Jessica says:

Jacq–a surrogate doesn’t provide genetic material, so no. A surrogate is a carrier only: mother’s egg, father’s sperm, and surrogate carries the baby only. The surrogate is just an oven, so to speak.

  20. jermsmom says:

To back up a bit, and i should have said this first, that baby is adorable! Poor thing can’t help who her parents are. Let us all enjoy her sweetness and innocence now because at the rate of spoilage they are going this child is going to be way too precious for her own good…and i don’t mean “precious” in a good way.

    • ClumsyMe says:

About the curly hair most babies are not born with curly hair. They are born with super straight hair and slowly it becomes curly. I think she will go on to have curly hair later on and have to say she is adorable.

    • ClumsyMe says:

About the curly hair most babies are not born with curly hair. They are born with super straight hair and slowly it becomes curly. I think she is adorable!!

  21. Hunny says:

so cute!!!! she has the calmness look in her face 🙂

  22. Nikster says:

Isn’t it pretty common for babes to look a lot like their dads when newborn? Mine did. Now, they are four and look just like me. It’s like a natural selection thing.

    • morganowski says:

I read an article somewhere that claimed newborns are supposed to look more like the father so that the dad beleives it’s his and sticks around to protect the brood. This is in caveman terms of course…but I still think it applies today! My son was the spitting image of his dad at birth and now almost completely looks like his mama 😉 Mother Nature knows her $hit

    • Jaxx says:

That has always been my experience. I’ve always been amazed at how much the babies I’ve actually seen looked just like their fathers right after birth even though they later might look like mom. I do wonder if that is nature’s way of insuring peace in the home!

    • telesma says:

Mine were carbon copies of my husband, and my daughter still is. My son looks more like me, like my family now at 18, but when he was little he was like my husband’s mini-me.

I’d always heard they resembled their fathers more in the first couple of years as well.

      • SolitaryAngel says:

ITA; my ex-husband has light brown hair and blue eyes. When my son was born, he looked just like his father! I, however, have dark brown hair and brown eyes—by the time my son was about 7 months old he looked like me. So strange, the way that works, yes? 🙂

    • Blue says:

My daughter looked just like her father, same marking under her eye, when she started getting teeth she had a gap just like him. Now her gap has closed a lot and the mark under her eye is gone (weird) and she looks just like me and my mother (we’re practically twins) Didn’t make him stick around though but then again he would have had to see her more than once.

    • Andie B says:

I believe that is true. My daughter was the spitting image of her Dad from birth until two, and now she is nearly four and looks a little more like me. I can see Jay-Z in that little baby. She is adorable.

  23. Nikster says:

She is a very pretty baby, IMHO.

  24. moopsie says:

2 hour workouts a day? I thought a woman is supposed to take it easy for awhile after having a baby.

    • Dana M says:

That’s what I was thinking!! You shouldn’t really be working out til about 6-7 weeks after birth in order to help the uterus go back into its place. And I dont know about other breastfeeding Mom’s but I was always starving and eating like crazy due to nursing. But Perhaps Beyonce “isnt nursing” although she has huge breasts right now. I sure didn’t give a rat’s ass about my figure, the only thing i cared about was just wanting to produce healthy milk for my babies by eating whole healthy foods. It was like a natural instinct. Working out at 4 weeks afterbirth never even crossed my mind, but I’m not in show biz. And lastly, at 4 weeks postpartum, my gut was still hanging out and I had fat all along my back and thighs and butt. Im not saying that all women should be on my same track but come on! Look at beyonce in that recent padded bra picture! She doesnt look like she just had a baby- she has a tiny waist. And for the record, I didn’t gain much weight during my pregnancies however, I had a huge belly a la Jennifer Garner. After reviewing those beyonce pregnant pics, recent post baby pics and viewing her hop into that SUV the day before she ” gave birth” …who are we kidding …. So easy to come to the conclusion that she was obviously never pregnant.

But the baby is super cute! Such a precious little thing. I’m sure they love her so much.

    • katspeakz says:

I had uncomplicated, vaginal deliveries with both of my children, and my ob said I could start exercising as soon as I felt up to it. For me, that meant we were walking around the neighborhood the first night home and I was back to an easier version of my pre-pregnancy workouts within a week. But I exercised regularly before I was pregnant, and exercised all through my pregnancies. I also bf’d and ate like a horse and didn’t lose the baby weight with either child until they were weaned.

    • marie says:

Hmmmm…didn’t Beyonce have a cesarean section? If she did, you can’t lift anything or do any exercise for 6-8 weeks until completely healed or you can risk having adhesions. The baby does not look new born and it looks like a east indian boy.

  25. A beauty! Looks like she has Jay-Z’s mouth and Bey’s eyes and eyebrows.

  26. sister says:

Very cute. Doesn’t look like a newborn. Whatever.

    • OriginalTiffany says:

Are these supposed newborn pics? That baby isn’t a newborn in those pics. They don’t open their eyes like that and look so alert then.
Also, how is she working out 4 HOURS per day? Ridiculous!

      • Asli says:

Yuup, I agree. My mom says that baby looks AT LEAST two months old. She’s had eight kids and around 30 nieces and nephews so I think she knows what she’s talking about.

      • Andie B says:

The baby could be a newborn..after my girl was born by emergency c-section they checked her over and wrapped her up. My husband showed her to me and she was looking at me with massive blue eyes, very alert and was looking all around the operating theatre. She was 10 minutes old.

  27. MB says:

    That baby looks Indian.

  28. Aiobhan says:

That baby is too cute. I still don’t believe that Beyonce carried her but she is gorgeous. I showed my mother the photos and she says that she looks like Jay-Z; I don’t see it.

  29. FeverDream says:

You know, when you make a circus of having a baby you open yourself to criticism and scrutiny so despite the fact that it is a joyous occasion I don’t mind saying:

Beyonce did not carry that baby.
There is just no way in hell an attention seeker like her wouldn’t have been on every magazine showing off her bare belly.

The one image that came out of this “pregnancy” (the fastest celebrity pregnancy I have ever witnessed in my life btw) was of her in that yellow bathing suit looking like she just ate a big meal and let it all hang out.

I enjoy Beyonce as an artist but this whole debacle has made me less of a fan because she is insulting our intelligence.

If she wanted to have a baby by a surrogate she should have done so in privacy OR come clean about it instead of trying to pull a fast one over everyone in the world by debuting her damn “bump” on the VMAs as if she was the first woman in the world to get pregnant.

    Smells fishy? Smells wretched!

Anyway, the baby is cute. The miracle of science. You can cook your baby with your man’s sperm and put it in someone else’s oven until the bell goes off.

    • MW says:

No kidding, world’s fastest pregnancy. Jessica Simpson is still slogging along and she was showing way before this one. And I know everyone is different. I have had several kids. With all due respect to anyone who might take offense, this baby looks Hispanic. My son even said “He looks Hispanic”, and I said “It’s a girl”.

      • Sherry says:

Ok….a quick biology lesson…it’s extremely common for African American babies to be very fair with straight hair at birth and for the first few weeks. Particulary, when one of the parents has a creole background.

      • gem says:

I don’t understand what looks hispanic to you about the baby? She looks like almost any new born black baby. Generally born more towards the fair side, that sounds ignorant as if black babies are incapable of being light, and or having straight hair i def did. *end of rant*

      • MW says:

@gem – No need to “rant”. It’s just an observation, not a put-down. And I’m not the only person who said that. I’ve read there is American Indian on her Grandmother’s side. Maybe that dominated.

      • cameron says:

        @gem

I agree with you. Many African-Americans are born light-skinned with Straight hair. Most likely as she grows older, her complexion will become darker and hair texture will change.

I didn’t realize that there were so many unaware people that they think only caucasian babies eye and hair color can change as they grow older.

She’s a beautiful baby and looks like both Jay-Z and Beyonce right now. Who knows in a few months.

      • LAK says:

ladies, no need to rant or yell at MW. My husband [white european] had never seen a black new born before he married into my family and was very surprised that they came out light.

Also, with the Croele racial mix, the baby can look like any race to anyone, so some are seeing hispanic, others Indian, etc It’s not a negative judgement on their part.

Time will tell where the skin tone will settle.

      • paola says:

Exactly! it seems like Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Garner have been pregnant FOR EVER!! It’s like they’ll give birth to a baby elephant! Dunno.,.it seems to me like Beyoncè never looked really pregnant, a woman like her, with big hipe and strong bone structure should have been wider already in the 4th month of the pregnancy… she’s not a skinny girl like nicole richi or nicole kidman.. i think beyoncè should have shown more. don’t believe, not even for a second, that she actually carried the baby.

      • ol cranky says:

I’m white (Semitic) and, when I was born, I was a bit jaundiced and the nurses thought it was funny that the only thing that confused the black mothers more than their white looking babies was this white couple and her “black” baby.

      • cameron says:

It’s not because Beyonce has Creole background her baby is light. Most black babies are born a lighter complexion and by the time they are 6 months old they darkened and hair texture changes.
I don’ know if it’s true, but in the black community it was said that you know what complexion your baby is going to be by the color of their ears.

My family doesn’t have a creole background but I have first cousins that have green and hazel eyes. I have light brown eyes that change to hazel.

look at Vanessa Williams both she and her brother have blue or green eyes but both parents were light or brown-skinned blacks with brown eyes.

It’s sad that most people still don’t know that African-Americans come in all complexions. It’s not because we have a white parent. I’m Sure it’s due to some european genes carried on for generations. Most likely from slavery.

I’ve have to admit when I visited Lousiana, I couldn’t differentiate some of the white folks from the black folks (Where Beyonce’s mom is from). There were many blacks that could pass for white (italian, greek, israeli) in NYC.

      • MW says:

Just for the record, I never said one word about the baby’s skin color or hair. To me, her features are what make her look Hispanic. This statement was not meant to promote or put down any race, it’s just how she appears to me. And I live in a community where there are a lot of Hispanic adults and babies.

    • JJ200 says:

Judging by your posting you have no intelligence.

      • FeverDream says:

That’s an incredibly vague, unsupported response so I’ll just step around it.

I stand by my opinion, thanks.

      • paola says:

What you just said is very immature and offensive, this is a gossip site, so let’s keep the bitchy bits for them celebrities. Only because you have a different opinion it doesn’t allow you to be so offensive with someone who happens to have a different opinion from yours.

  30. jc126 says:

Cutie pie. I see Beyonce’s eyes on her, too.

Still kind of think a surrogate carried the baby for them and they’re covering it up. 2 hour workouts, sure.

    • TheOriginalVictoria says:

I had a feeling the baby would be pretty. You know what they say about one attractive parent and one unattractive one: the baby can often be quite gorgeous.

Back in the day before Jay became a total douche in my eyes, I did find him somewhat attractive. Not in a conventional way but he had swag and that made him hot. Now, he frightens me.

She had a surrogate for sure, but I do see the Knowles eyes, just like Solange and BeyLiar.

      • kristiner says:

Then how does that theory explain Alexa Ray Joel?

Christie is VERY pretty and was in the 80s naturally.

Billy looks like a troll. And Alexa is just poor thing.

      • TheOriginalVictoria says:

Notice how I said often. For instance, I don’t think Diana Spencer’s brother is hot at all. He married a very pretty lady and those Spencer girls are beyond beautiful. All three of them.

It’s not a sure thing, but I have noticed that many uneven couples in the looks department have great looking kids.

Alexa was a beautiful little girl until she hit her teens. That’s when everything changed.

    • Hahahaha says:

Hhahahahahaha I thought my sister was the only mom that thought that way! She is always showing pictures and saying, you see how much they look like me? Even though I say i agree, secretly I think they look like their dad….

  31. Meg says:

    Gorgeous baby.

Re: the photo of Beyonce in the yellow bikini; there was an article on Daily Mail about a guy showing how with the help of soda and chips you can go from flat abs to big pot belly in an afternoon.

  32. Meg says:

    Gorgeous baby.

Re: the photo of Beyonce in the yellow swimsuit, there was an article on Daily Mail about a guy showing how with the help of soda and chips you can go from flat abs to big pot belly in an afternoon.

  33. kristiner says:

    Hmm.

Baby’s head is very round and perfect. Beyonce said she had her naturally which means cone or pointy head. I know it goes away in a few weeks but it doesn’t go right to a perfect looking head that quick.

Surrogate gave birth when the Tiana-May rumors happened and Beyonce “gave birth” on the 7th a full week later. I believe that.

    • jc126 says:

Some babies are coneheads, but by no means all. I wasn’t, though I was my mom’s 5th kid. My niece, an only child, wasn’t coneheaded at ALL, ever, and was born vaginally.
In fact, no one in my family was, but we do have big melons. I worked a maternity rotation in nursing school and can attest that not all of those vaginally delivered babies were coneheads. In fact, the first time I saw a coney baby, I was surprised how pronounced the shape was.

    • Dana M says:

      Good observation!!

    • PrettyTarheel says:

My son was born naturally and had a perfect head. Sometimes it just works out that way.
Still don’t think Bey carried this child, but the pointy head issue isn’t a instant solver.

    • Lerama says:

My babies were both born naturally and had perfectly round heads, every birth and baby is different, so I think it could have been au nature.

I hope they just enjoy the magic first weeks with their baby, she should use more spanx in public if she wants to look thin and relax!

    • Jaye says:

As someone who’s had a baby by c-section, the ‘cone head’ effect only happens during a vaginal delivery. My son’s head was perfectly round after birth. And for most babies who ARE born vaginally and have the cone head, that only lasts a few days.

      • Jess says:

“cone head” lasts only a few hours if that. 2 vaginal births as proof…

      • Andie B says:

@Jaye..my baby is an exception to the c-section rule then. She had major cone head after being born, from attempting to get out of there for 22 hours prior to the c-section. Head went into shape after a couple of weeks.

  34. Amanda says:

Cute baby. Hopefully she ends up looking more like Beyonce.

  35. Isabel says:

I love the pic of Hov holding her. What a proud papa smile.

Yes, the pregnancy was weird, but if they did have a surrogate, that’s their business. Maybe Bey couldn’t conceive and they wanted to protect the surrogate. I can’t imagine what the paps would go through to get that info.

Or maybe she was pregnant. Some women carry small. Maybe she padded to get people off her ass. I hate…HATE the comments that people make to me when I’m pregnant, and I’m no celebrity.

What matters is that the seem purely joyful, filled with peace, happiness and love. I have nothing but the warmest wishes for them. Blue Ivy is a stunner! I’d hate to be the guy to ask her out someday… Imagine answering to Jay! Eeeeek!

    • TheOriginalVictoria says:

It disgusts me that Hov can be so happy holding her when he has a whole son that he basically ignores living in Jamaica (NOT PARIS like some people think). Where are the photos of him being a proud papa to his son? Oh yeah, that’s right, he was screwing around on Bey at the time and he couldn’t let that shit be known.

As for Bey having this baby. They are trying to make us believe that this baby who seems to be pretty alert, eyes all open and focused is just one month. More like two or three.

      • OMSS says:

My mum had baby just under a year ago and I promise you my lil’ sis was just as alert as she was at a few weeks old! Even the doctors and nurses were baffled whenever my mother took her to the surgery for her weekly check-ups!

      • celine says:

i always think about that first. it makes me so so sad. because blue ivy got a song, a happy song. junior was mentioned in one of jays records sayinthat he already failed him even though his father failed him too and that he really wanted to make it better. oh i saw pictures of that lil boy and he’s so cute, i bet blue ivy turns out ugly. just because she already has anything.

  36. Tiffany27 says:

I think the baby looks like her mom a little. Idk. All babies look the same to me until their like 6 months. And I’m pretty sure had there not been such speculation about her pregnancy we wouldn’t be seeing these pics yet. Anyway, congrats to the family 🙂

  37. Happymom says:

She’s gorgeous. And she looks like such an old soul in that one picture.

  38. Amanda G says:

Cute baby! They all kind of look the same to me when they are that young. I will hold judgement on who she looks like until she’s older.

  39. Sandy says:

Wow, look at all that hair! Very cute, like the put in their order and got just what they wanted.

    • Lady D says:

When I discovered I was pregnant, I ordered a little boy with black hair and blue eyes. I had a little boy who had black hair and blue eyes, for about 3 weeks. Black hair fell out, eyes changed colour. Thank God the boy part stayed the same.

  40. sm255 says:

You know, I still believe that a surrogate was involved BUT:

Beyonce and Sean Carter are and still will be the parents of this very pretty baby girl and that’s all that matters, so congratulations to them!

  41. Boxy Lady says:

I think she looks exactly like her aunt Solange.

    • KLO says:

That was my first thought too 😀
I think she looks like both of her parents, but prettier than I expected. Good for her 😀

  42. Relli says:

So Bey gave birth to a Baby Ashanti!?!?

She is beautiful. But she doesn’t have that usual puffiness and swollen eye look most newborns sport. Conspiracy?

  43. Riana says:

    Cute baby!

Still don’t believe it came outta Beyonce though. The size of the baby, photos of her through her ‘pregnancy’ where she was tiny, the work outs in prep for the Grammy’s that would frankly split her body open if she really had a C-section…

    Cute baby though!

  44. bagladey says:

I am a mother so I know what a newborn looks like, and while those photos are supposed to be in the hospital that baby is older than a newborn.

  45. L.C. says:

A lot of people at various sites are saying that Blue doesn’t look black. My siblings and I were even paler and had the same straight full head of hair, but we’re black. No black child comes out with an afro. lol That happens later.

    • texasmom says:

So totally true! My girls are biracial with a pale white mom and a really dark Nigerian dad. They have super-fro, totally African natural hair now but their baby hair looked JUST like Ivy Blue’s.

They were also very fair, and I constantly had strangers ask me if they had a “Mexican dad” since their hair was so much darker than mine. When they were little, the skin around their fingernail beds was a little darker and that’s the color they turned out to be later in life. So all this “looks hispanic” gives me a good belly laugh. This baby looks the right age to me, if you are used to babies with darker eyes and brows they look a little more in focus at an early age than bald little white babies with invisible lashes.

My youngest looked like the identical twin of the baby in Ice Age for the first two months. My Inuit baby!

    • maemay says:

My brother was mistaken for a greek baby. I was very pale also.

    • Mr.Smurf says:

I’m the same shade as that baby, and had the same hair when I was a baby. Now my hair is thick and curly. Blue turned out cuter than I thought she would be.

    • mln76 says:

True story: when my sister was born the doctor wanted to put ‘pink’ on the Birth certificate because she didn’t look anywhere near black she now has the deepest ebony skin tone of anyone in the family

    • telesma says:

I’m 1/32nd Mississippi Choctaw, the rest of my heritage is a mix of English, Irish, and French. There is some speculation of there being some German due to the area my French grandfather was from, but no confirmation.

When I was born, I looked like a little papoose. Thick black hair, dark eyes, and not very fair skin. (Looked like my father, who very much looks his native heritage.) I probably looked like that for at least the first couple of months.

By the time I was 7 months old, I was very fair and had blue-green eyes and a head full of blond curls. By the time I was 7 years old, my skin was still very fair but my hair had darkened and no one would ever have guessed that I’d been blond, or that I have a significant fraction of native blood. Now, at 41, I’m very fair skinned and my natural hair color is a deep auburn.

I have one brother that is small and wiry and looks native American with his dark skin and black hair and eyes, and another that’s big and tall and blond and blue-eyed. All three of us have the same parents.

The point of this is to say, whenever one or both of the parents has a mixed heritage, you never know what their offspring might look like.

So. Reserving judgement on Blue Ivy for the moment. 🙂

    • Blue says:

People making comments about the lack of “blackness” in the baby are cracking me up. My daughter came out looking “black” but with bone straight hair, now it’s ridiculously curly. My friend who is also black had her daughter a few months ago and she looked very white and now she has darkened up a lot with her hair still straight. It all depends on genetics.

  46. marie says:

Hmmmm…I have experience with babies and my first impression was that baby is older than what they stated. Also, looks East Indian or latino.

  47. lynda says:

    baby looks like Ashanti.

  48. Lucy says:

That baby is huge! (not fat just 2 mos old)

And I LOVE this quote: (can’t believe no one else said anything about it)
“They look elated and that baby is precious.”

They sure do…They probably paid a LOT for it!!!

  49. Caitlinsmommy says:

No snark (although I could) she is a lovely baby! Congrats to B and Z.

  50. Mama*C says:

Not sure what kind of doctor she has, but I was only allowed to walk up stairs once a day for the first two weeks, and then no activity/lots of napping for the next month. Even then, my c-section stitches opened on the end from me twisting slightly in bed. I call shenanigans.

  51. JessSaysNo says:

OK this picture shuts me up. That baby looks like her MAMA! (Beyonce)

  52. boo says:

I am hispanic and my baby’s father is African American and my daughter looked exactly like this little cute baby, she had a cap of straight black hair, and she was light skinned. Now that she is 17 she has beautiful curly hair and is very fair. Strange how those genes work themselves out. Let’s wait a while for Blu Ivy to grow up a little bit and then we’ll see who she looks like. In the meantime congratulations to Jay-Z and Beyonce on their beautiful baby girl!

  53. Leticia says:

I had braced myself prior to clicking on the photos, expecting to see JayZ’s face on a newborn girl, but this baby is beautiful. I think she looks like Beyonce’s mother.

  54. Monarch says:

I don’t think she gave birth to the child, although I think it probably IS their kid, but doesn’t it look kind of light skinned? Neither of them particularly are (although Bey does her best to appear as light as possible).

    • maemay says:

For the HUNDRETH time and in honor of BHM, babies from people of color are often light. I have two parents darker than Bey and Jay and even I was the same shade as Blue. African Americans ALSO have a varied genetic makeup which includes european and native american genes. We are a varied people with various admixtures which results in different skin shades and hair textures.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

Most babies of color are born lighter. I didn’t know it either before I started working in hospitals.

Most babies don’t look a month old when they are first born, either.

      • cbear says:

hahaha. In honor of BHM. You’re awesome!
It is astounding how little people understand skin colors and variations at birth, and, in fact, are ignoring most of Beyonce’s background (especially her mom’s) to try to make conspiracies!

    • kristiner says:

Newborn black babies are usually very light skinned. Even if both parents are Don Cheadle dark. A lot of black people who are pretty dark have darked because of the sun and stayed that way but if they were lighted before as kids they’re babies will be light.

Beyonce’s mom is REALLY pale. Beyonce is brown and so is Jay-Z. Blue will darken.

A good telltale are the babies ears. Skin will be light but you’ll see darker areas on the ears. That’s the shade they’ll be naturally and the rest is up to how much sun exposure.

      • Hypocricy says:

I am black from a european country. When my mum had my brother thirty years ago, she was the very first african to deliver in that hospital of a country which at the time had very few black folks.

The whole team were shocked as my brother was as light as a white baby with straight hair though both parents were Blacks.

Melanin fix itself over time, beginning few weeks after the birth and is not a stable element anyway and if you leave under the same circustances, you usually get darker as you age.

  55. Dana M says:

I agree, this baby looks older than a newborn. About 8 weeks old or so in the pics.

  56. original sandy says:

beautiful baby, they look really happy.

  57. Veronica says:

I thought her statement after the birth said she had a natural delivery… and someone on the gawker post put up a picture of beyonce as a baby too and Blue looks just like she did as a baby… I think she padded for extra attention, but I do think the baby is theirs…

  58. Lucky Charm says:

That doesn’t look like any one-month-old I’ve ever seen. And I’ve had two of my own and come from a large Irish Catholic family, so I’ve seen a lot of newborns.

  59. toto says:

this baby is spit image of beyonce’s mother ..she also has some of beyonce’ father ..i can’t see JZ in her at all

  60. Whatever says:

The baby is hers, not a surrogate’s.

    • Hypocricy says:

just to correct some misconception being surrogate and bearing Beyonce’s genetically conceived child is not exclusive. It’s usually how the surrogate route is done !

You can be a surrogate and bear the baby of someone else so the baby can be Beyonce’s genetically, both beyonce and Jay Z genetically and still be carried by someone else, a surrogate mother.

Being surrogate doesn’t mean that you automatically conceive the baby with your own eggs it mainly means that you BEAR a baby for someone else with their own materials planted in you or part of yours.

  61. kiki says:

I think its her egg his sperm and she had a surrogate carry it. They are both to vain not to have that baby look like them and have their talents!

  62. antidoll says:

why is beyonce’s face all blurry!?? and that baby gosh i think it doesnt look like them. that baby looks a lil like drake hahahhah

  63. reg says:

That is not a new born baby, and that baby is Hispanic and may only half-black, It’s not just the light skin color, the baby has a Hispanic face. It does not look like neither JZ or Beyonce.

    • Sara says:

Babies are not born with all of the their skin and eye pigmentation. That’s why lots of babies are born with blue/grey eyes and babies whose parents have dark skin after often pretty light skinned at birth.

She won’t get her real eye/skin color for at least a couple of more months.

    • ol cranky says:

color, like height, is not determined by a single allele and is additive that’s why you’ll she short parents with children taller than they are and light parents with children darker than they are and all things in between

  64. shontay says:

Blue looks like Beyonce, not Jay. She also bears resemblance to Solange’s son, Daniel. Of course, all of you crazy folks will keep your conspiracy theories going.

  65. mm says:

the baby looks totally like j-z :c

  66. Ogechi says:

This baby is so cute & she looks a lot like Beyonce. Congratulations to my favourite couple in the world.

  67. mememe says:

    Adorable!

  68. Em says:

There seems to be some confusion amongst readers about surrogate births; in a full surrogate birth the child would be completely genetically B and JZ’s. A fertilized egg from the parents is implanted into another woman, therefore the child will be physically their own , it’s simply that Beyonce did not give birth to the baby, she hired a womb and tried to pull the wool everyone’s eyes about it. In a partial surrogate birth another woman is artificially inseminated with sperm from the father. I tend to think it was the former method, these two are so full of themselves they wouldn’t want a child who isn’t completely their own production.

Also if at some future date the birth mother decided to come forward , or try a little blackmail, she would have a hard time proving it because the child would not have any of her DNA.

  69. Sara says:

Wait, how is it possible to work out that soon after you had a baby? Aren’t most Mom’s on bed rest for like a week? My doctor told me to forget about dieting and exercise for at least two weeks to a month after the baby is born. He said the body needs time to heal…?

  70. Ruby Red Lips says:

Cute baby but there is no way Beyonce carried her.

Bey is a curvy woman and for curvy women your body takes an age to ping back and evven then its never quite the same – esp around the waste.

There is no way in h3ll she had a c-sect even a planned one exercise is forbidden for 1st 12 wks

I do believe the baby is genetically theirs but Bey didn’t carry or give birth to her, but congrats to them all & a beautiful little baby girl regardless of her birth method

  71. Nina says:

This was a very good PR move. Releasing photos publicly so people won’t comment they sold them. And public loves babies, everyone will gush about the little one now and forget about controversy

  72. foozy says:

    dad can’t be jay z

  73. serena says:

She looks very cute, but nothing like her parents.

  74. Divorcee says:

    She looks more like Jay-Z.

  75. Rose says:

I can’t believe people are still talking nonsense about surrogates. Cute baby, congrats to them both.

  76. Mrs.Darcy says:

I definitely see both of them in her, agree more Jay Z in the mouth and nose, but she won’t necessarily grow up to look just like him. I have a smaller version of my Dad’s nose anyway. Not discounting it may have been surrogate though.

  77. Maxine says:

    That baby is beautiful!

A few points. First, I looked at both the Jay-Z site and tumblr and couldn’t find anywhere that indicated when or where these pictures were taken. How do we know they weren’t taken yesterday? So I think the comments about how old the baby is make sense if these are from January but maybe not as much if it was 24 hours ago.

Also, Beyonce’s finger nails are painted blue in the picture which also makes me think that this is well after the birth (I’ll let the conspiracy theorists weigh in on alternative theories!)

Finally, hours of exercise right after the birth? Nope. . . . if she had a C-section then absolutely not. . . no doctor would advise it and I doubt she’d feel up to it. . . . same with “natural” birth.

Congratulations to the new parents. Enjoy your new lovely baby.

  78. Maxine says:

Oh and to co-sign onto what Hypocrisy said, it’s very possible that the baby is genetically the product of Jay-Z and Beyonce but that another woman’s womb was used to carry the child. Actually after the Baby M case, that’s the way many surrogate situations end up going so that there isn’t an issue with a surrogate who is also the biological mother having a claim on the child once the child is born. VERY possible the child is biologically their child and that Beyonce just didn’t carry the baby, thus looking like either or both Jay-Z and Beyonce (so the fact that the child looks like one of them doesn’t help us figure out whether she carried the child).

  79. Molly says:

Baby looks absolutely beautiful and perfect! Very happy for them. I have suspicions that she didnt carry this baby at all. I think celebrities are getting more and more concerned about their appearances and therefore are opting for surrogates. Not that this point really matters in the big picture, just pointing something out.

    • LAK says:

Actually Molly, it’s the opposite. Celebrities are becoming more open about the use of surrogates and adoptions.

Threr are so many celebrities who have used surrogates and or ‘adopted’mainly for career reasons, it would shock you.

The most public case is Judy Lewis who was Loretta Young’s ‘adopted’ daughter with Clarke Gable’s god daughter except she was their real child, and they pretended to ‘adopt’ her because it would have been career suicide to admit the truth.

HOw they got away with it is incredible because Judy Lewid was the spit of Clarke Gable.

  80. bellatrix says:

ok, does anybody think that this child is a little bit to white????

    • cr says:

The genetics bit has already been gone over multiple times, on this post alone. What her skin tone is now isn’t necessarily what it will be when she’s an adult, or even in her teens, etc.

  81. lisa says:

Awwww so beautiful.. she looks like her mother..

so much hair.. gosh.. she is a cutie..

  82. Str8Shooter says:

Beautiful baby…and she looks great too.

That being said, is anyone else sick of hearing about this baby yet?? You would think she was the first mother to give birth. And for two people so allegedly worried about the name Blue Ivy that they had to freakin’ copyright it, they sure do make themselves available to the paps every chance they get!

  83. Sarah says:

Looks like one of those reborn dolls to me, look ’em up.

  84. Alexis says:

Cute! She looks like both her parents, but would say she favors Jay right now. I don’t care if Beyonce had a surrogate. She probably was worried about her career if she couldn’t snap back (and with her body type I imagine it could be difficult). She probably would have gotten even more flak if she had openly used a surrogate (but I think that would have been better).

Also, black babies are born pale brown with straight or wavy hair. The paleness is esp. pronounced when their parents are brown-skinned (like the Carters) or lighter. I guess this is a way of letting everyone find this out!

  85. Lucy says:

In this pic Michael K had, I can see more of Jay Z, even though her eyes are closed…Very sweet

    http://www.dlisted.com/node/45007/images/blueivypic4.jpg

  86. MARCUS MITCHEL says:

SHE DID NOT GIVE BIRTH TO THIS BABY.

THIS IS A TEST TUBE BABY [designer baby]

  87. dorothy says:

OK, We’ve officially seen the baby. Can we move on now? Tired of these people. Cute baby though.

  88. MariaAA says:

Very cute baby, mouth and nose from Jay Z, eyes from Beyonce.
I just don’t see the big boobs that Beyonce was showing these days…

  89. Jane says:

Seriously people? Beyonce fans’ worst nightmare has come true — the baby is a carbon copy of Jay-Z. Who cares? It might not be the most attractive child in the world, but it’s going to be well taken care of and loved.
But seriously — stop saying it looks like Bey. That baby doesn’t look like her at all.

  90. joancrawfordhangers says:

That is one weird lookin baby.

  91. celine says:

before i keep reading through all ur comments bitches, i have to clear sumthin’ up.

    1. yes black babies (like me , i’m mixed but that doesn’t count)are born with straight hair that’s what my mum told me, they usally fall out and the real afro texture grows

    2. black babies (the real black babies not african-american black babies) are born black and stay black. the african american community (deny all u want) is mixed through there is not a single african american with all african genes, promise. so it is indeed possible that exactly those genes came through because beyonce AND jay have those genes. i really don’t have to explain mendelson to u guys. jays dark genes don’t have to be dominant at all, just not in this case. maybe the next baby will be all dark. we’ll see.

    alright.

    • Hypocricy says:

      False !

Fully African babies from the most part are born very light and sometimes even can be mistaken as white folks.

I know since I am an Afropean, have seen many new born in Africa, including from very dark folks like Sudanese. It’s always very funny for White folks who are not accustomed to it to see a very rosy baby in his very darkskinned mum’s arms surrounded by his siblings who are as dark….

The reason why Black babies are much lighter when they are born has nothing to do with genes, so called mixture but everything to do with melanin.

Melanin isn’t a fixed and stable element and is at its lowest and primitive stage when you are born, you just have very few melanine glands, hence babies of all etheicities are very pale compared to their later stage, not to mention the layer of skin is very thin and show easily the color of the flesh which is the dsame whatever your ethnicity.

It’s just more noticeable to Black babies since the difference in shades is more important since duh, they have a bigger stock of melanin stocked in their cells but begin at fairly more or less the same amount of melanin than other ethnicity whose stock of melanin is lesser.

Usually after weeks, you can first see concentration of melanin growing first around finger joints then it grows and the baby gets darker just like caucasian people are a little more darker growing up than when they were born since they too have melanin, more if they have dark hair like most latin, less if they are scandinavian and even lesser if they are red head which is a sign of lack of pigment.

According the level of exposure to the sun your skin melanin will fluctuates but if you stay in the same region without using a cream to enhance and control melanin production in one direction or the other, you’ll get darker as you grow old. You’ll get darker whether you are mixed race, black or white or asian ir hatever. You’ll end up darker than the shade you had when you were born or even when you were a child , because malanin glands have the highest stock ever, your skin has aging spot through exposure and your skin layers are thicker.

It all goes down to your personal stock of pigment/melanin that is at its lowest when you are born and fluctuates throuhout your entire life to reach its highest when you get older DURING YOUR ENTIRE LIFETIME !

      • LAK says:

        Afropean…LOL!!

But from one African to another, well said.

It irks me how little people know about us, even those that are African American.

      • Hypocricy says:

        @ LAK

Hey sister ! You and me both !

I am the daughter, the cousins and the niece of nonethless than a dozen doctors in my family.

My own sister is a scientific researcher with 8 diplomas, some of which genetics, ethnicity and cosmetology and it’s fascinating all the talk we have about melanine, pigment, how it phenotypes, proceeds, technics to lessen its production, ect.

People outside Africa, including African Americans have a very simplistic view about shades, features what is african or not ignoring the immense diverersity in all.

Newsfalsh for all while scientists have grouped 10 different shades related to caucasian skin, african skin declined itself in no less than…36 different shades some of them as light as the one of Nhala Aubry or a Sicilian folk while being totally 100% blAck african (like Peuls or balubas tribes) to the very dark you oftEn see in the sudanese sub group or western african groups where the bulk of slaves were sent to the US while the central african tribes who are usually lighter were sent to the likes of Cuba, Brasil, french Carabean islands like Martinique.

Also all this talk about being mixed is kinda of true but African Americans have never been mixed on a vast extent and to the same degree of all latin related former colonies with their MEZTICLA program aimed at dissolving the afro looks and create a mixed society. I am talking about French Reunion, french antilles, Cape Verde, Cuba, some places in Angola and Brasil !

      • LAK says:

@ Hyprocrisy – don’t forget eye colour. Everyone talks about eye colour somehow being the preserve of all the other races or ethnic mixes except for black Africans and yet Green/blue eyes are a feature of Blue Black skin tribes in central Africa. No Caucasian mix to explain it.

There is so much variety in hair textures, not just Afro etc

we could go on and on….

  92. sbuttrflyy says:

I’m pretty offended by all the comments from white people on the origin, appearance, and parents of this baby.
First of all most white people don’t know what the hell a black baby looks like when it is born.
Second, it is well known that Beyonce is of Creole descent and has a naturally lighter complexion.
Third, I am not a fan of Jay Z, but he is not by far the ugliest thing walking and to place his looks on his child to be devastating is stupid. I wonder if all of you guys husbands are hunks. Doubt it.
Fourth, you all bash her for getting on a workout regimen after giving birth. This woman has a demanding career where looks are involved. She obviously is not waiting to get back in shape unlike most women who let their bellies become solidified lard before they start shoveling diets pills down their throat. Long time ago, women immediately went back to their tough chores after birth, not having hubby do everything because they know he has to get back to work. These women where also in better physical shape.
The sharp remarks about this little innocent baby are appalling and I know no one would feel good if others treated their babies the same. This IS a gossip site, I understand, but there is a fine line between gossip and cruelty and I don’t appreciate the latter.

    • Jaquebelle says:

Amen sista!!! Black comes in a variety of blends; from light bright and damn near white, to deep dark chocolate. The ignorance regarding this is insane lol. I am the product of two African-American parents w/ brown skin, yet I am of high-yellow complexion. My paternal grandmother also has extremely light skin and it is generally assumed I inherited many of her physical attributes. Not every baby is born bald lol. My son was born w/ a full head of hair and very similar to the length of baby Blue. Last, Beyonce is in the business where physical appearance is paramount. Can only imagine the extreme pressure people in this vein must endure. If she was seen in public vastly overweight and bloated, the critics would be even more catty and critical. Not everyone waits to begin an exercise regime after six weeks. Some women never stop working out. Depends. If you body is used to working out on a very regular basis, your threshold is a lot higher than someone who has just begun an exercise regime. The baby is beautiful and beautiful comes in all colors!!! One love.

    • texasmom says:

Wow, can’t believe how this thread has gone on and on. Reminds me of how I was changing my newborn at the same time as a white mom at a party, she told me authoritatively that ALL babies’ eyes are blue at birth. I told her (and showed her) that my daughter’s eyes were NOT blue. She said, looking right at my daughter’s face, “All newborns have blue eyes!” Weird! Denial of reality! This was a major moment for me of realizing how deluded white people can be about race issues.

Just for balance: I have a white friend with all-white kids, and her first child was a micro-preemie, born at 24 weeks. Forget about melanin, this girl barely had SKIN. All micro-preemies look quite dark because you can basically see through their skin to their blood. My friend was at the NICU all the time and got to know a visiting grandma (white) who was there all the time, too. One day she whispered to my friend, “Does your husband know?” Because she was convinced that my paper-white friend had had an African-American baby! She was so dark!

  93. Tazina says:

Beyonce had swollen breasts and was thicker in the waist when she was out the other night in a red dress. She definitely looked like a woman who had given birth. The baby has a look of Jay-Z to her. I saw the resemblance immediately.

  94. Kimlee says:

She looks like a boy could be because she looks much like Jay Z, as or her complexion black baby are normaly light when they are born but then darken up as they get older.

    Was this at the hospitals?

  95. bgirl says:

She’s completely adorable. And who cares if she’s from a surrogate or not? The most important thing is that now that she’s here, that they raise her right. This will be tough given their lifestyle. Goodspeed little Blue!

  96. TheOriginalVictoria says:

Please stop calling referring to Beyonce’s Creole posturing. She is not Creole. She is not Native American. Her grandfather had a bunch of illigitimates and some of them were Native, but none of that was on Tina’s side. I know many people who are connected to this clown, who grew up in Houston, who knows this child’s people on both sides of the family. Her mother is not full blooded Creole. They are black Americans that have some mixture way bacj just like many other black Americans, nothing more and nothing less.

Her baby coming out light has nothing to do with her “creole” heritiage, as many black babies are born this way even if they have great, great, great grandparents who may have white or other. I was born that way and am now Beyonce’s complexion with curly hair and I AM mixed. My children were born that whiter even, and only my youngest child remained fair closer to his father who is way lighter than I am. My eldest at four is more my complexion and his legs are even darker.

I just hate she thinks she can claim shit she is not and people actually go along with this. Having a Chinese great great great great great grandfather is not going to make me Chinese. It wouldn’t even make up five percent of my racial DNA. And I don’t have a Chinese grandfather I’m just saying

  97. islandgirl says:

    she is adorable

  98. Angel says:

I see Bey’s side of the family represented there, definitely. Her mom, particularly.

And I still say it was just the dress that folded. Have I mentioned how much I hate this story?

  99. juju says:

Beautiful baby, but she looks like she has some spanish in her !!! no way she actually gave birth to this baby !!!

  100. georgiagrl says:

    Cute baby period!
Whats up up with all the conspiracy theories on this board? And racist remarks? Black babies are born with a lighter completion people.

  101. Humanity? says:

the baby looks like ashanti hihihihihi

  102. Humanity? says:

i still don’t 100% believe that B was ever pregnant, I mean, I know that people carry differently, BUT c’mon, even the Victoria secret girls, who are – maybe just as tall or taller than B looked more pregnant than B did. And B – she’s not a tiny girl. She’s big boned and well, correct me if i’m wrong, but big boned girls, when you gain even a little weight, you see it.

You can clearly see Hilary Duff, Jess Simpson and Garner’s progression of their pregnancy. You can see how the bellies look. I mean B’s just looked off. And she got papped just as much. She just looked off.

All this scrutiny – she can’t blame anyone but her own self. I mean – post a pic of you and your child, but please, please respect my privacy? come effing on now!

  103. Dee Cee says:

    Baby has on makeup ew…

  104. wunder says:

I can see both JayZ and Beyonce in her face.

  105. Marybel says:

She was never pregnant, but the baby is probably their biological kid, so it doesn’t matter who the surrogate is. I have much more respect for Nicole Kidman than the Carters or the Mapothers. She looks older than 1 month, for sure. When you’re richer than whole countries, you can manipulate pictures, timelines, waistlines, anything. They’re not us, people.

  106. Lisa says:

I like how neither of them are actually looking at their kid. lol.

  107. Mingy says:

science + all the $$ in the world = a designer/non camel looking baby..awww how precious!!!

  108. eny says:

So, they claim she had a natural delivery, right? And pictures were taken in the hospital, rihgt? Ant Bey looks like that 24 – 36 hours after “Push honey, push” action? Riiiiigth…..

  109. Mingy says:

I think someone mentioned before in this thread, but I too noticed that Beyonce is blurry in that pic and Blue isnt..PHOTOSHOP!! They took an old baby pic of Solange’ baby boy and slapped it on there!! Crazy? hell yes..but so what, its these two..

    • AudreyS says:

Perhaps the baby is not “real”, in that if was photo-shopped to resemble both of them? Honestly, I don’t really have an opinion, this is a fun to watch everything unfold.

      • Jaye says:

Wow…talk about reaching. You mean to tell me you’ve NEVER seen a picture where one person or thing was the clear focus and everything else was blurry? NEVER? Not ONCE?? This conspiracy crap is exhausting because you try hards are working overtime to make it stick. JayZ and Beyonce had a baby. The baby is real. If you’re so bored you have to invent new twists to the Blue Ivy controversy, may I suggest a 5000 piece puzzle? That should keep your brain occupied for a good minute.

    • shontay says:

Sit down. Have you ever used a camera in your life? That would explain why Bey is blurry. The focus is Blue.

      • Mingy says:

“Sit down”?!? I really hope you are not over 15..

      • AudreyS says:

@ Shontay, I understand what you’re saying, but in that photo, it looks like there’s a definite line between what is blurry and what is focused.

  110. Asli says:

I think this was a designer baby (cute but..). Come on, now. If anyone of these two has strong genes it’s Camel. That guy’s face is 90 % lips and nose. Ain’t no way that baby was getting around that.

  111. AudreyS says:

Cute baby, but isn’t it too early to be able to tell who she resembles?

  112. tinker says:

Looks about as much like them as Michael Jackson’s kids did.People see what they want to see.Believe me they got something from tumblr. Also J had lip reduction surgery back in the day. Sorry. And her face is blurry cause it isn’t a post birth face.

  113. bored says:

What a precious little girl! Sweet.

  114. Frankie4Stumps says:

    Yawn.

  115. Maritza says:

Ivy Blue looks just like her grandma Tina, fortunately for her she did not inherit Jay-Z’s features. She is beautiful!

  116. UniqJazz says:

She has beyonce’s eyes and eyebrows. Also her hair is like beyonce’s. She is a very pretty baby. I think she had this baby from a surrogate but was too embarrassed to admit it. Jay z has power and money and he probably let Beyonce know that they could pull this off. He knows money can keep people’s mouths shut. I’m sure he has done it before. He probably made the women sign a gag order. But i still think the truth will come out eventually and i stick by her having the baby through a surrogate.

  117. The Original Mia says:

Precious baby. She looks like Tina. Jay & Beyonce look over the moon about her. Happy for all of them.

Now to exit the lunacy of this thread.

  118. stephanie says:

    yawn.

  119. socynical says:

I am Black and so is my husband. He’s really dark and I’m a tad on the lighter side. When I gave birth to my oldest son, he looked asian. Milky white with bone straight hair and tight eyes. His looks started changing around 2yrs old. He is now 22 and as dark as his father. I can totally see Beyonce in that baby…and Tina’s strong genes. Its totally possible that Jay Z’s genes were not strong enough.

  120. leslilly says:

First of all, the baby is gorgeous!

Secondly, I didn’t really think much about the silly pregnancy conspiracy, but now I’m going hmmm…these pics were taken the day Blue was born, right? If so, she looks extremely alert & wide eyed for a newborn.

Again, she’s so damn cute. I hope her parents don’t pimp her out. Oh wait, they already did.

    • Whatever says:

The pics weren’t taken the first day. And you’re right, the theories are dumb to say the least.

  121. kim says:

People keep saying that they don’t see Jay, that mouth is all Jay

  122. Anna says:

It doesn’t MATTER if the baby looks like Bey and Jay.

She used a surrogate MOTHER. that means the eggs and sperm belonged to Bey and Jay. So of COURSE the baby looks like them.

That does NOT mean beyonce was pregnant.

    She is a lier.

  123. sam says:

Why is everyone assuming these were taken on the day she was born?

Its pretty clear that they were taken some time after, and I dont think that the Beyonce or Jay has claimed they were.

    • leslilly says:

Ahhh..I think it’s because at first glance, it looks like Beyonce is in a hospital bed w/a blanket pulled up. Now that I really look at it, it looks like a chair & a nursing blanket. The blue chairs in the background don’t look like the hospital suite either. The dude standing behind Jay-Z made me think he was part of their security team they took to the hospital. When I think about it though, they’re probably always surrounded by security, ugh.

Can’t speak for anyone else, but those are the reasons I asked if they were taken in the hospital.

I need to concentrate on something more important, LOL! The great thing is that their baby looks to be swimming in love.

    • sam says:

I have just seen a picture of my friends new born at less than one day old. She looks about the same size and same dreamy awareness, a whole lot of hair and perfect baby skin. In a few photos she is eyes are wide open and staring off.
Now having something to compare it to, I would definitely say this is a young baby. Just my opinion 🙂 Not 2-3 months as some people are saying.

  124. Sarah says:

Is it just me or does that 2nd picture looks like Ivy has been airbrushed.
Most newborns don’t have such pronounced eyebrows and their skin is often blotchy and uneven due to the birth process.

    Weird, huh?

  125. skipper says:

she doesnt look like a mother. more like the baby is an accessory. a lot of celebrities are like that. too self centered to take a picture that is truly candid and where they arent posing like they are on the carpet.

  126. skuddles says:

She’s quite cute (and agree with poster who said she looks like an “old soul”) but I can’t help but think she’s going to look a lot more like Jay than Beyonce as she gets older.

  127. alibeebee says:

i don’t know i see Jay in that baby look at those lips and the nose is a mini version mix of the two of them. also These pics weren’t taken at the delivery suite the decor in the pics compared to the photos of the suite on Tmz to what little we have seen from these photos.. is off.. and Beyonce looks like she’s holding a baby .. she even has a spit up cloth not like ooh this baby is mine and i don’t mind it’s germs. too posed and the baby looks like a week+ old not fresh out the oven. She announced she was preggers them boom baby.. we’ve been speculation of Jessica Simpson for ages she confirmed it and she’s still pregnant. Beyonce had the fastest gestational period ever! and now she’s exercising Ha ha right!

Mariah Carey was pregnant forever and she released a photo on Dembabies when they came out she looks terrible the kids actually looked newly born…

  128. Hypocricy says:

    Oh God !

Just heard through cnn : Whitney Houston just passed away. So sad !

    RIP

  129. Unbeweavable says:

That baby was not pushed out. I had a c-section with Lil Unbeweavable and I looked like HELL for at least 2 weeks. My money says they used a surrogate.

  130. Flea says:

People aren’t saying Beyonce is less of a mom if she used a surrogate. People just have difficulty supporting and celebrating someone when they feel they’ve been lied to. She should have addressed the speculation while she was pregnant. It would have shown respect for her fans who had questions. And if you say she doesn’t owe anyone that, I disagree. When your livelihood is based on the spending money of your fans, you owe them that respect. By choosing to ignore it all she chose to have speculation about it forever.

  131. sweetcrabsalad says:

That kid looks just like Tina Knowles. That’s the good part.
Pray she doesn’t have Tina’s sense of ‘style’ passed down the genes.

  132. Maya says:

I don’t buy the disbelief over her pregnancy. As for her bouncing back into shape after the birth she still looks filled out, but lets not forget this is a woman who has been physically active throughout her career and would no doubt have personal chefs and trainers on hand, so it’s unlikely she’ll pile on tons of weight like many other women who let their nutrition and exercise go during pregnancy and after.

  133. Camille (The original) says:

I have a different opinion to most here (sorry :-\), I don’t think the baby is all that cute, I see a lot of JZ in there. But what a lovely head of hair! 🙂

  134. melmel says:

cute baby. Hope it does not grow up spoiled. I take that back because the baby is already blinged out

  135. reg says:

This is just insulting, that is not a new born baby, worked in a hospital and I have seen a lot of new born babies, that baby looks much older than new born, I don’t see any of Beyonce in the feature, maybe just a little of JZ.
The baby looks of mixed Hispanic heritage.
Beyonce face is blurred out cause she does not look like she just delivered.
I don’t get these vapid people, why don’t they admit they used a surrogate already and more likely than not surrogate eggs too.

  136. Jilly Bean says:

ah… you know they posted the first pics for free because they intend on making a truck load on that kid in the future….

  137. Victoria says:

White girl hair! Who was that egg donor and then who was the surrogate?

  138. beautifulblackfemale says:

why does everything have to be about race? yes, black babies have a full head of hair. why is it such a problem to the white people.? i mean im sorry to those who babies come out with no hair, it’ll come sooner or later. that’s what it all balls down to. white people always finds the little dumb reasons to nit pick with black people. like, get over yourselves. smdh. the world is not changing at all.

  139. Isa says:

She’s probably a day or two old, depend on how many days Bey stayed in the hospital. (It looks like the birthing suite to me.)
The close up of her hand looks like a newborn hand.
And she looks just like JayZ to me.

  140. truthful says:

Good job CB!!! not a snarky post.

    she’s very pretty.
