Jessica Simpson finally gave birth to baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson

FINALLY. Dear God, this poor pregnant woman. Jessica Simpson has finally given birth to her first child, a daughter she named Maxwell Drew. I can’t believe In Touch Weekly was right – they said the name was Maxwell months ago! Thoughts on the name? Yes, this girl’s classmates will call her “Maxi Pad”. But I’m not hating it. Maxwell for a girl is kind of cute. Oh, and this is one BIG girl too.

Welcome to the world, Maxwell! Jessica Simpson gave birth to a baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson, in L.A. Tuesday morning, Us Weekly can confirm. This is her first child with fiance Eric Johnson. “Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby Maxwell Drew Johnson 9 lbs. 13 oz. 21 3/4,” Simpson wrote on her website Tuesday. “”We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!”

According to a source, little Maxwell (she takes her middle name from her maternal grandmother, Tina Simpson, whose maiden name is Drew) weighed in a 9 lbs. 13 ounces. “Mother and baby are doing just fine,” the source tells Us.

After just six months of dating, Simpson, 31, and Johnson, 32, got engaged in November 2010. The pair–who have yet to set a wedding date–had planned to hold off on making it official until after their baby’s arrival. Rushing down the aisle isn’t a priority for the star and her former NFL player beau, anyway; during a March appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Simpson told the host that Johnson “feels like my husband already.”

The Texas native was previously married to Nick Lachey from 2002 until their separation in 2005. (The duo famously documented their life together for MTV’s hit reality show, Newlyweds.)

Following her divorce from Lachey, the Dukes of Hazzard actress dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo from 2007 to 2009. In 2011, both Lachey and Romo tied the knot with their current flames; Romo’s wife, Candace Crawford, gave birth to a baby boy Hawkins on April 9, and Lachey’s spouse, Vanessa Lachey, is currently expecting the couple’s first child.

Simpson first shared her own happy pregnancy news with the world on Twitter last Halloween.
Tweeting a photo of her wrapped in a mummy costume, she wrote, “It’s true! I am going to be a mummy!”
Since then, the Fashion Star mentor and Johnson have been counting down the days ’til their little one’s arrival. In December, Simpson opened up to Us Weekly about her excitement for “mummy”-hood.

“Eric and I love each other so much, and knowing that I love this baby inside of me is so amazing–I love it so much and I haven’t even met them yet,” Simpson gushed. “I can’t imagine how much love we’ll have for it once it finally comes!”

As her due date approached, the bubbly, uninhibited singer spoke candidly about the not-so-pretty parts of pregnancy, dishing on her strange cravings (buttered Pop Tarts!) and embarrassing physical traits (“I just started calling myself Swamp Ass,” Simpson told Jay Leno of sweating through her maternity Spanx.)

Among the most outrageous? During a March interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Simpson made even seasoned comedian Kimmel blush when she admitted, “I feel like I have a bowling ball sitting on my hoohah. Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so whenever my water breaks, it will be like a fire hydrant!”
And speaking to Ryan Seacrest in an appearance on his radio show last month, the fashion designer opened up about her third-trimester sex drive. “I am definitely ‘feeling intimate,'” Simpson told the host. “I’m kind of unstoppable right now. The Big O is, like, the biggest O ever!”

[From Us Weekly]

I wonder if Jessica flooded out the delivery room with her amniotic fluid of doom. I wonder if Jessica is already sipping a Scotch on the rocks right now. I also wonder how long Jessica’s labor was, or if she went in for that C-section, as some outlets were reporting? My guess: she went for the C-section.

Anyway, congrats to Jessica, Eric and baby Maxi! Love a May Day baby!

That’s exactly how much my niece weighed! And for the record, my sister-in-law is a very tall, willowy, slender woman. Some babies are just big!

Also, I went to elementary school with a girl named Maxwell and that was 25 years ago.

  2. InVain says:

    FINALLY! Congrats.

    • Maguita says:

I was feeling tired just looking at her pictures the last few weeks!

Finally, congrats to the happy family. Wonder if 05-01-2012 has a special meaning. I know it equals 2 in numerology. Beyoncé and Jay had a 4, their favorite number.

    • Ashley says:

Finally!!! Can we go home now? I’m afraid it’s just a beginning. What’s next? The tabloid cover. The crappy stories about pregnancy. The” lose weigh with Jessica” campain. New reality show. Oh dear! Lord have mercy! BTW congrats and please – keep all this crap to yourself Jessica!

      • Carolyn says:

Yep. Who’s going to be looking after the baby whilst Jessica’s working out for 4+ hours/day? Look out for some gag-worthy articles all penned by her PR team. I bet she’s recovering right now from a C-section/tummy tuck to give her a head start.

  3. Katie says:

You just know that when someone calls for a Maxwell Drew, they are going to expect a boy and not a girl in pigtails.

    • Peachy Kean says:

Jessica likely chose “Maxwell” because “Astala” was already taken.

    • Lisa Turtle says:

So what? When they call Maxwell and see a girl in front of them they will remember her. (As opposed to all the boy Maxwells they will probably forget)

Being unusual does not automatically make a name a bad choice. It has meaning for the parents, its a nice choice. She’ll certainly be known as “Girl Max” instead of Max D. or Max J. (I’m certain there will be more than one Max in her class at school its a very popular choice for boys right now)

    • call_in says:

I love being a girl named Collin. Hated it as a kid, but I appreciate the gender-neutrality now.

      • May May says:

One of my best friends in a girl named Michael. She simply adds her middle name to it to sound more feminine so that I forget it’s not actually part of her first name.

      • ZenB!tch says:

Growing up I knew a girl named George Maria – after her dad. She went by Maria in school and was George to her friends.

  4. Katren says:

FINALLY! and Maxwell Drew is so masculine it’s ridiculous. Maxwell is ugly for a girl imo, but paired with Drew its awful 🙁

    • fabgrrl says:

      Agreed.

    • mary simon says:

Her nickname at school is going to be Maxi-pad.

    • thinkaboutit says:

I agree, such an ugly name for a little girl. Just awful.

      • Iggles says:

        II agree with you guys!

I don’t think it’s “cute” to give girls boys’ names! It’s such an annoying trend. I love unisex names (Jaime, Jordan, Jess, Jo, Rory, etc) — BUT giving girls MALE names like Maxwell, George, and Michael is just stupid!

Everyone’s trying to be so “hip” but it’s a huge double standard. Few couples give their sons FEMININE names..

      • Lee says:

I agree with you. How far have we actually come when we think it’s great to reject “female” in something as fundamental as a name? So somehow “girl” is not as good as “boy”, even with names?

  5. LAK says:

    F I N A L L Y!!!!

never has one been more concerned for someone they don’t know, don’t want to know or have any hope of knowing!!

  6. birdie says:

Congrats!! The name is alright, I like boy names for girls!
Maxwell Sheffield comes to mind though.

  7. Abby says:

    presh!

  8. TheOriginalVictoria says:

The name is unique but not horrible. Better than fucking Apple or B.I.C. Congrats Jess. Her pregnancy along with Jen, Hil and Nia Long’s were refreshing after the Pillow Baby debacle.

    • Katren says:

Definitely better than her (Maxwell’s) cousins name!

      • TQB says:

Good point, we should keep Bronx Mowgli in mind here. She’ll be called Max, which is also a nickname for Maxine. Everyone just relax.

    • Rice says:

You know somehow, every time I see that acronym B.I.C. I can’t help but think it means Bitch In Charge.

      • Intercontinental says:

*combined choke and spilts out tea* now screaming hysterically with laughter – puts pack of hyenas to shame! 😂

      • Karen says:

I love Bitch In Charge!! Nothing wrong with that. Beats B.G.F – Bitch Got Fired.

      • Eleonor says:

Every time I see BIC I think to the brand of the pens.

      • the original bellaluna says:

I had a colleague ask me once what I had on my business card under my name. I replied “QBIC.” And she said “What?” I said “Queen Bitch in Charge.” 🙂

  9. Rhiley says:

I wonder if she has had her first bottle of scotch yet (Jessica, not the baby).

  10. Jessica says:

    AWW!!! Finally!!! Bless them all!!

    • DreamyK says:

Hooray! Congrats to Jessica and Eric. That was one huge, healthy baby there. I like the name Max for a girl, not sure about Maxwell because it reminds me of Maxwell Smart. Wasn’t Drew the name of her former BIL?

      • hoya_chick says:

Haha that’s what I thought….she named her baby after Drew Lachey. Lol. If a person is 3 months pregnant on October 31st and gives birth on May 1st how many months were they pregnant?! I shudder at the mere thought of the discomfort.

      • the original bellaluna says:

@hoya_chick – 40 weeks is the norm, but some OB’s allow an expectant mom to go to 42 weeks. Sadists.

  11. Sapphire says:

I can’t believe I am doing this for dim-bulb Daisey Duke, double-d, but congratulations, Jess!

  12. JustBored says:

    Awwww sweet, Congrats Jessica.

  13. Schnauzers!!! says:

Maxi Drew Johnson just sounds like maxi pads for men.

  14. Bite me aka aniston says:

Lights candle for baby Maxwell, honey good luck !

  15. Jayna says:

What an ugly name for a girl. Maxwell.

  16. Blue says:

Yay!! I’m not crazy about the name but she’s not my kid so…
I hate that they followed up such a happy annoucement with a run down of her dating history. So unnecessary.

  17. LeeLoo says:

F***ing finally! Now maybe we’ll get a few weeks of peace from this woman.

The name could be a lot worse. I’m just grateful she didn’t name it after a fruit or some meteorology phenomena.

  18. brin says:

    Congrats to them….whew!

    • Rice says:

I know! I was on the verge of politely suggesting paternity testing for elephant DNA.

  19. WTF says:

when i saw Drew i thought of Nicks’ brother….

    • Tillie says:

Yeah, you’re right.. Still like the name though. Could have been so much worse with all these crazy names around nowadays.. Glad she is not like her sister and her bad taste in names..
I think this sounds normal and cute and wish them al the best.

  20. Maria_Spain says:

Finally! that baby must be talking right now.
I don´t like the names, those are boy´s names .

  21. Jessica says:

    Maxi= Big and Johnson= Dick

Yes, I believe this is the worst baby name in history.

    • ol cranky says:

ugh, I had Maxwell’s Silver Hammer running through my head. Luckily, seeing “big dick” has knocked that tune right outta my head

    • Veruca says:

I had teachers by the name of Dick Seaman and Dick Morehead.

I mean, really? Did their parents hate them at birth, or something?

  22. Samigirl says:

Dear lord. My vagina hurts just thinking about it.

    • Original Lucy says:

Did you have your baby, Samigirl…how are you doing?

      • Samigirl says:

Yes ma’am, I sure did. Thank you for asking! I had her at 12:04 pm (central time zone) on Friday! My bp got really high and they had to take her a little early, but she’s healthy as can be with the exception of a little jaundice! I feel great, though! I got to leave the hospital Saturday afternoon, and we are all adjusting well. Big brother can’t stop looking at her, lol. He’s just in love!

      • Belle says:

        Congrats to Samigirl!!

      • Veruca says:

Glad to hear all is going well. Make sure you’re still getting some rest. I felt like I didn’t sleep for two years (and you have two)!

        And yay, Jessica!!

      • lower-case deb says:

@samigirl, congratulations! hope she grows into a happy healthy baby and a joy to the family 🙂

        soooo happy for you 🙂

      • Rice says:

Congrats! Can you blow some baby dust my way?

      • marie says:

        @ samigirl..
congratulations to you, glad everything went well and you guys are healthy and happy!

      • Jaye says:

        Congratulations, Samigirl!

      • Lady D says:

Congrats Samigirl, I’m so happy for you!

      • NYC_girl says:

        Congrats Samigirl!! Great news!

      • ZenB!tch says:

        Congratulations!!!

    • bluhare says:

Samigirl, you said they had to “take her”. Did you have a c-section and leave the next day? Or were you induced?

Either way, congrats. Glad your baby is healthy and you too.

      • Samigirl says:

They induced. Started my pitocin drip and all that good stuff. My natural birth plan went out the window when my diastolic bp hit 165. It was either an epidural or a spinal and c-section. I was able to deliver vaginally, thank goodness.

Bella, I think the hypertension was just due to the pregnancy. My bp wad 70/59 just hours after I delivered her! I lucked out for sure.

Everyone, thank you for the very very kind words. She is such a sweet sweet little girl. On another thread, someone asked for a name. I kind of hesitate to say her name on a gossip site, lol, as another “celebrity” couple has a daughter with the same first name. We named her after my father in laws only sister, who has passed, and the only other Baker girl born in the past 70 years. Her middle name is my mother in laws first name, her moms name, her moms moms name, etc. So, her name is Harlow Merry Baker! And, she and Emerson James are my little angels <3

      • backwards says:

I love that name sami! and the meaning behind it is makes it even better! Congratulations!

      • whatthehell456 says:

Congrats Samigirl!! So glad to hear everyone is healthy 🙂

    • the original bellaluna says:

Congrats, Samigirl! So glad everyone is healthy!

You’re so lucky you were able to leave the hospital so soon – I take it they got your BP down? It took them a week to get mine under control, and I’ll be on BP meds the rest of my life.

    • Penguin says:

Congratulations to u & your partner samigirl 🙂

    • bluhare says:

      Awesome name. Really.

    • Samigirl says:

I actually answered the question in re: to bluhare. Harlow Merry Baker 🙂 Explanation is in that thread, lol.

  23. Original Lucy says:

I HOPE she went with a C-section with a baby that big! Ouch, if she didn’t…and the name Maxwell Drew is a boy’s name, poor girl…

    • Sunny says:

Congrats sweetie,my 3 rd and final baby was FINALLY a little girl.i named her Rya(after a sitter I idolized in my childhood) and middle names James after my awsome father who suddenly died at 49 right when I got pregnant. So names with meanings are very special…and SLEEP if u can.i wanna collapsed, lol:)

  24. Agnes says:

congrats to them! and yeah, i hope that at that weight she went for a c-section. otherwise, ouch!

  25. marie says:

aww yay for them, I don’t dislike the name-at least its not obnoxious. but please Jessica, keep your over-share to a minimum..you know it’s coming..

  26. Sumodo1 says:

Jessica is a sweet girl. I wish the little family well.

  27. Rita says:

Thank God!!! I was starting to have sympathetic contractions in hopes of telepathically coaxing the little one out.

Congrats to all!!! (Now I can stop sleeping on my side)

  28. Lindy says:

Ehh, she’s southern, and names like that are common around here. I know tons of girls with family names that may sound more “masculine” but are actually their grandmother’s or mother’s maiden name, etc. My kid (a boy) has two middle names, both of which are family names, and which might sound “feminine” to some (Bell and Shelton). I grew up with a Hollins, Dean, Barrow, Coleman (girls) and a Corde, Karle, Schell (boys).

I think Maxwell Drew is sweet and charming, and it’s nice that she’s honoring a grandmother.

But holy wows, did it not feel like she was pregnant for a decade?

  29. Tifygodess24 says:

Im secretly Kind of sad that her pregnancy is over , It mystified me in a way lol. Im sure she’s thrilled though 😉 It was like the longest pregnancy ever – well so it seemed. It will be nice to see pics of the baby. Name is quite interesting though.

    • LeeLoo says:

The sad part is she only announced her pregnancy exactly 6 months ago. Even if the baby was a month late, it didn’t go on that long. It only felt like this pregnancy went on forever because she never shut up.

  30. SirSnarksalot says:

So this means that based on delivery date, when she announced at Halloween by holding her belly, she was barely 3 months along. That was no baby belly…

Congrats Jess and good luck losing the extra weight you thought would fly out of you in baby and amniotic fluid….

    • bluhare says:

Thank you. The minute that stick turned color she started shoveling food in.

Go ahead, ladies. Rag on me because i said she’s fat and totally let herself go. That big baby could be a gestational diabetes baby which she got by overeating.

That being said, I’m glad both are doing well, and I hope the tummy tuck and lipo don’t hurt too much.

Sorry, but I just cannot be charitable about her. She’s just flat out annoying to me.

      • SirSnarksalot says:

NO doubt! Gestational diabetes is no joke and it was the FIRST thing I thought of when I heard how big their baby is. Lets hope Jessica goes back to a healthier diet now that she doesn’t have the pregnancy “excuse”.

      • Seagulls says:

OTOH, I did not have GD and my baby was 10 lbs, 5 oz. Of course, he was also 23 inches long, so he was a biiig baby.

  31. Tillie says:

So happy for them. The name is cute!

  32. Belle says:

    Yaaay, a May Day birthday! Don’t love the name… but it could have been worse. I think Max is a cute name for a girl, but they will surely call her Maxi… and she will definitely be teased, and called maxi-pad. Oh well, it’s always something(;

I have to add, that while I actually feel physically relieved for her, to have finally given birth… I expected her to have at least a ten pounder! LOL Of course, Maxwell was close to 10 pounds, but with all the talk (and photos) about how MASSIVE Jessica was, and the talk of how big the baby would be…. and having had a 10 1/2 pounder myself and know the pain, all around… I kind of expected bigger! LOL

Seriously though.. congrats to them, hope everyone is well.

  33. Neelyo says:

I wonder who sent the larger gift basket: Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. Cuz you know that’s the next career move.

  34. Redheadwriter says:

But the conspiracy theory can still live: No where does it state this little (big?) girl arrived on May 1. 😉

  35. Courtney says:

first off Jessica wasn’t over due her date was May 11th. 2ndly Maxwell is Eric’s middle name while Drew is Jessica’s Mom Tina’s maiden name that’s like if one of Melissa Newman’s sons had been a girl and she named the baby Joey people would’ve said oh that’s a boys name not realizing her mother’s name is Joanne and she has been called Joey her entire life and that spans 9 decades and 14 presidents from Herburt Hoover-Barack Obama and all 28 Presidents of the Screen Actors Guild of Which she is still a member

  36. hopperlea says:

The name is cute. Hope JS and the baby are healthy and happy!

  37. danielle says:

I love the nickname Max for a girl. My grandma’s name was Maxine and everyone called her Max.

  38. TXCinderella says:

Maxwell? For a girl? Blech! I don’t like the name at all. Poor kid.

    • Anne says:

I agree – Maxwell Drew – even the middle name is a boys name. Leaving the child no alternative.

  39. D1 says:

If I were Jessica Simpson, I’d be seriously tempted to troll all of humanity right now – that is, to not announce the birth and to just keep walking around with a prosthetic belly for another 6 months, without providing any explanation for my epic pregnancy.

The wild speculation & hysteria that would sweep the tabloids and gossip sites as I entered my 15th month of pregnancy would be amazing:”Does Jessica have a rare medical disorder? Is Jessica the host for an alien baby? Or is this a Rosemary’s Baby-type deal and she’s growing the Antichrist in there?”

  40. Chell says:

I was genuinely hoping she would name the baby Margarita, lol!

I think Maxwell is kind of sweet! Can’t wait to see pics of this not so little bundle of joy!

  41. lower-case deb says:

I think Maxwell Drew Johnson sounds… normal. Compared to others.
I mean, her peers (Bear, Apples, Daisy Boo, Hunnysuckle, Mowgli, Moxie the CrimeFighter and Poison Ivy, Syzygy who knows what else) will have very little ammo to attack her with. Maxi-Pad. Maxwell House. Nancy Drew?

She’ll be the sober one out of the bunch and rule over the playground.

    eh.. i forgot.
CONGRATULATIONS JESSICA!!! I hope Mom and child are healthy and happy. 🙂

  42. mel2 says:

Yeah! So happy for her. She will be another fasionnista divette!

  43. Alex'sMommy says:

She had to have a c section with her build. I am tall and my first baby was 9 pounds 5 oz and was hell to get out. I am 23 weeks along with my second and I am praying this one will be slightly smaller. Although the first had no medical issues whatsoever, but was one week late, and is very healthy and strong and always has been. There is no way Jessica pushed that baby out the old fashion way. And for the baby to be so big when she wasn’t even late? Congratulations to the family I hope everyone is healthy and happy!

    • Seagulls says:

Lots of petite women can vaginally birth big babies. Fat squishes.

      • Penguin says:

Exactly my grandma is 4 ft 10 weighed 82 pounds. She gave birth to 4 boys 1 girl vaginally. At 5 ft 3 & approx 135- 140 pounds when she got pregnantjessicas really not that tiny or petite

    • Anahata says:

Sorry this is dumb. You can’t look at someone’s build and determine they had a c-section! Ridiculous!!!

    • Scarlet Vixen says:

Oh pshaw–my mum was 5’6″ max (she’s 72yrs old, so she’s shrunk over time and I’m not sure of her original height) and she had 6 kids–all natural births, all over 8lbs, and her longest labor was 3.5hrs. My brother Russ was 11 lbs and was born in 1 1/2hrs in our house! With how common c-sections have become I think we often forget that women have been having babies of all sizes for thousands of years without c-sections.

Both my babies were over 9lbs, so I guess I can’t compare whether delivering them was harder or not, but I loved having big babies–I wasn’t so afraid of holding them because they didn’t seem so fragile. 🙂

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

It’s the shape of the pelvis (not the size of the woman) that makes it easy or difficult to give birth vaginally.

  44. Dotty says:

Glad that child has finally arrived. I’m guessing she went for a C-Suction. Combo C-section and liposuction.

  45. Marley says:

I went to school with a Maxine who went by Maxy and no one called her Maxi pad. Then again, its probably a generational thing. We don’t even refer to pads as “maxi pads” anymore. Congrats to Jessica.

  46. the original bellaluna says:

I sure hope she opted for that C-section. Congrats to the family!

And now, the snark: If she didn’t have the plastic surgery at the same time, she’ll have it when she see’s it’s not all baby and amniotic fluid.

  47. TG says:

Sounds like they wish they had a boy. Why saddle your daughter with a boys name.

  48. dahlianoir says:

they don’t call it “delivery” for nothing lol Congrats ^^

  49. Katie says:

Maxwell Drew is a whole lot better than Blue Ivy! Jessica may be a little weird but I love her. She is a normal girl. She doesn’t pretend to have anointed spawn.

  50. F5 says:

Maxwell probably drove them home but congrats:) Love Jessica and wish her well:)

  51. lucy2 says:

    Congrats!
She looked SO uncomfortable, and no wonder, that’s a big baby.
Don’t love the name, but it’s not the worst ever.

  52. Red Granny says:

Maxwell is a cute name for a girl

  53. MG says:

I have been checking People.com and this site every ten minutes for the last couple days!!! Seems like she has been preggo for an eternity! My daughter was 9lb13oz as well…and I did not have a c-section but did have an awesome epidural. Still love my anesthesiologist for that epidural! I like gender neutral names and I think Maxwell and Drew are cute for a girl, just not together. IMO, she needs a really girly middle name. My daughter has a “boys” name…Carson…and her middle name is Rose.

  54. Dee says:

I gave birth on march 1 after 10 months & a week of pregnancy & My belly popped at 7 1/2 months, I can’t even describe how it felt to see Jessica so big at 3 months when she announced it because I wanted to show off my belly so bad! I thought she was at least 5 months when the whole mummy pic came out. I’ve never seen anything like it! But congrats to her, I kinda love her & her baby named after drew Lacey lol jk

  55. miriam says:

    This makes my cervix hurt.

  56. jc126 says:

Congrats to them, Maxwell is a horrible name for a girl.

  57. thinkaboutit says:

The maxi pad jokes are funny, only because…does anyone say “maxi pad” anymore? I haven’t heard that since the 70s, wondering what my mom was talking about when she’d ask my dad to grab some “maxi pads” at the store. Nowadays don’t people just call them “pads?” When I hear maxi I don’t think of feminine supplies, I think of cute long dresses and skirts from Rachel Pally or Splendid, lol.

  58. mel says:

Love the name…its really cute. My husband is named Ashley…so I’m cool with different names for different genders. So glad baby and Jessica are doing fine. 🙂

  59. barbi says:

I know she didn’t name her after Nick’s brother but for some reason every time I see her name the name Drew Lachey comes to mind. 😉

  60. Penguin says:

Jessica was 5 ft 3 – 4, 140 pounds when she gt pregnant, that’s average height & weight of most women. Dnt gt why every1s calling her petite. I think petite is under 5 ft 3 & below 120 pounds.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Kind of like when everyone would refer to Snooki as tiny, even though she was like 4’11” and 150 lol

      • the original bellaluna says:

I think people today use “petite” in regard to height, not build.

  61. Penguin says:

Sorry I’m not being bitchy don’t understand why some people some people think she’s too small to give birth naturally.

  62. Camille (The original) says:

Dumb name. Well thank god that celeb pregnancy is over. I guess now will come JSimpleton’s over shares about everything baby related and then of course we’ll get the inevitable magazine cover of her in a minuscule bikini showing off her pregnancy ‘weight loss’. In 3….2…1..

    • Alex'sMommy says:

I am just basing it on my own experience. At 5 foot 8 150 pounds pre-pregnancy, having a 9 pound 5 oz baby, I thought I was going to die. I guess i just can’t imagine anyone, shorter or taller than me, giving birth vaginally to an even bigger baby. Although not saying it is impossible just given Hollywood I wouldn’t think someone like her would do it vaginally just supposed she opted for the “easy” route (although wouldn’t say that really is the easy way).

    • ZenB!tch says:

I don’t see her losing it right away at all. I think “Jessica is fat” will be the story. Normally, I dis celebs who take longer than 3 months to get back to “fighting weight” because I see it as their job to look impossibly good – 24/7 access to a trainer and meals on fancy wheels… I’d be thin too.

However, I’m not sure this applies to Jess. She is no longer an actress or a singer just a “celebrity” so is it still her job to look good? She has access to all the tools if she wants.

  63. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

“Swamp Ass” and baby Max. How sweet!

  64. UniqJazz says:

Cant wait to see pictures of the babyyyy. I bet she is a cutieeee.

  65. Ravensdaughter says:

Congratulations! We are all relieved that mom and baby are healthy! It seemed like the longest pregnancy in history.

  66. IrishEyes says:

I think the name is pretty adorable, although I did think of “Maxi Pad” as well. It’s not as bad as half the celeb baby names out there. As for the baby size- eh, some are just big babies… it doesn’t really mean that it will be a big child or anything. I was roughly the same size at birth and I’m 5.4″ and 110 lbs. naturally. My sister was smaller and is 5.11″ and 125 lbs. I personally think it’s random.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I think baby sizes are growing. I don’t think it’s a precursor of how big the child will be as an adult.

That said I weighed 6lbs and I grew to be 5’3″ but babies were usually 7lbs or less in the 1970s. My cousins born in the 80s were 8lbs.

  67. Isa says:

I hate the name. I hope they just call her Max and not Maxi.

  68. georgiapeach says:

Congrats to her. I bet the baby is gorgeous! I figured she was gonna announce it soon because her twitter went real quiet suddenly!
Also I can’t hate the name either. I think it’s original but not super crazy and Max is a perfectly fine nickname for a girl…I know a couple female Max’s myself!

  69. DemoCat827 says:

Good news! I’m now 27 months pregnant with a baby I plan to name Davidoff Dirndl Beelzebub St. John Barflebeefer Frypan Orzechowski! What do you think of my baby’s name?

  70. Memphis says:

In the South using male/surnames for girls is common, but still…I don’t think it’s a great choice. Then again comparing it to some of the other celebrity baby names,it’s not that bad!

  71. ZenB!tch says:

Well at least now we know why she was so big. Poor Jessica! I hope she had a C-section. I think it’s better for both ladies – Max would have lost oxygen trying to get out vaginally.

Welcome to this messy world Max.

  72. Sugar says:

congrats to the new parents Jessica & Eric! I think the name is cute & thankfully they went with namesake tradition instead of some new addition to the Hollywood book of names. Oh if Frank Zappa had lived to hear those names that came after his children’s but I digress…
And I would love to add my “like” to samigirls new bundle of blessing-such a sweet name you gave her. Congrats!

  73. Christine says:

Does this mean they’ll be calling her Maxi for short? Or long- with- wings.
Man, that kid will have it tough around age 13.

  74. lola says:

    congrats jessica,love you!!!

  75. Ana says:

    Hallelujah!!!

Congrats to Jessica and to Samigirl! 😉
