When faced with a fully-loaded premiere with tons of great photos, I’m often at a loss as to who I should make the lead. You guys seemed to enjoy yesterday’s story about the LA premiere of Dark Shadows, in which I made Johnny Depp and his mid-life-crisis Chemical Peel Face the lead. So today I’m going to begin with the fashion from the London premiere of Dark Shadows – and a good old-fashioned style face-off. Let’s start with maybe one of my favorite dresses that I’ve seen in months, Eva Green in Tom Ford. I would wear the ever-loving f–k out of this dress. I wish it was mine. It’s gorgeous!!!! A beautiful cut, beautiful neckline, it’s flattering and rich and amazing. But is it amazing on Eva? I don’t mind her makeup (she always looks rather goth, which is okay with me), but her hair…? I don’t know why she’s emphasizing her roots?
Who is worthy of defeating Eva Green for Fashion Supremacy? Helena Bonham Carter? Not in this. Look, I get that “kooky Vivienne Westwood” is HBC’s “thing” – but even she looks bored with her own quirkiness here. Time to update the look.
Here’s Chloe Moretz in McQ Alexander McQueen. It’s pretty, and she’s pretty, but something feels “off” to me. Maybe the shoes? Or her hair?
Michelle Pfeiffer: fierce bitch in Lanvin. The dress would be too simple on another woman, but I kind of enjoy it on Michelle. It’s not about the dress – it’s about the woman. Plus, she’s always loved very simple, minimalist clothes. (The bust isn’t doing her any favors though, right?)
You know what these Johnny Depp photos remind me of? They remind me of Daniel Day Lewis, right after he filmed There Will Be Blood, and he dressed like that turn-of-the-19th-century character for about a year. With DDL, it was an acceptable and charming quirk. When Johnny dresses all faux-western, it’s annoying. It seems so… try-hard.

Love HBC’s dress and overall look. To me she looks comfortable not bored. Eva Greens makeup makes her look like a 48 year old bar maid in Lansing Michigan. Not the worst thing but maybe not the look she was going for.

I like Helena’s quirky look..she really owns it. Michelle Pfiefer’s dress is a gorgeous colour, but I feel she needs a bigger bust to get away with the strapless thing. On another subject, what the hell has happened to the gorgeous Mr Depp’s face? I never realised what a hottie that Jonny Lee Miller guy is.He’s a bit of alright, as we say in my country.

Eva Green’s eyebrows bother me. Michelle Pfeiffer is so beautiful and is aging so well. I know she probably has had some tweaking but she’s doing it right.

Has HBC worn this before? Usually she’s surprising and fun. This looks recycled–I’m disappointed and bored. Maybe that’s why she’s bored, too. It’s always more fun wearing an awesome dress the first time around.
And Depp’s mustache grooming is off center. Like it’s growing directly out of that nostril. I’ve seen way too much of him lately to notice something as ridiculous as that.

She needs a new dress style. It’s getting boring and I don’t want my HBC to be boring.

I first saw Eva Green in Casino Royale, and I couldn’t figure out if she was pretty or not. Since it’s one of my favorite movies, I’ve seen it about a million times now and I’ve come to the conclusion that the word to describe her is “striking”. She has a unique look and gorgeous features. I don’t find her traditionally beautiful, but I can’t stop looking at her.

I’ll agree with “striking” if it means hitting one so hard with her ‘look at me’ neediness. She reminds me of Spatz so badly – just odd looking enough to garner attention while rating a “meh” at most. Glad she’s not cookie-cutter LA look; but, she is SO lacking in beauty. And that dress does not flatter her in ANY way.

HBC and Johnny need to check the calendar and realize they’re both working looks from their 20s. Not good on either count.
Chloe’s dress is just odd and I don’t like the shoes. In the commercials for Dark Shadows she looks like she’s going to be the funny one.

Love Eva Green’s dress but the hair and makeup (esp. that orangey red lipstick) are not working. And while I totally adore HBC and think she’s basically in her own category and can wear whatever and still be interesting and smart and creative and lovely in an off-kilter way, I totally agree that she needs to mix things up a bit. Her dresses are all looking the same.

I think Eva’s getup looks awful. Gold does NOT go with midnight blue, although I love those cuffs. Tea length skirt with some funky earrings might have saved it, but it looks like a housecoat here. And I disagree, I think HBC is rocking that look!

I think HBC started dressing absolutely batty after she hooked up with Tim Burton – I love the man but he is FUGLY. I really think she wants to make them look more like a couple. She was gorgeous in the 80s and 90s and while not a great dresser she looked more normal.

I really love the dress on Eva Green, but I agree the hair is bad. Like it was greasy so she just flattened it down with a ton of hair gel. From the neck up, HBC looks awesome, but I am tired of the schtick with her clothes. Same with Johnny Depp – it’s just gotten old.
