Levi Johnston plans to file for full custody of his son Tripp with Bristol Palin

Levi and his pregnant girlfriend

Bristol Palin isn’t going away after the cancellation of her cringe-worthy reality show, which was replaced in its time slot on Lifetime by repeats of “Dance Moms.” She’s about to go on “Dancing With The Stars: All Stars,” and she’s very defensive about it thank-you-very-much. Here’s another thing for Bristol to rally against. Her ex-fiance, Levi Johnston, just collected the paperwork required to file for full custody of their son Tripp, four, allegedly in response to Tripp either swearing or using a homophobic slur on Bristol’s show. Whether Levi follows through on his threat remains to be seen. Remember when he planned on running for mayor of Wasilla and had no idea what his platform was going to be? That never happened. Here’s more, thanks to TMZ:

Levi Johnston believes Bristol Palin is a TERRIBLE PARENT — and the proof is in her reality show … in which she lets their son Tripp run wild, talk back, curse, and show no respect to his elders … so he’s decided to take action … and seek full custody.

In case you’re like most of the country, and haven’t been watching Bristol’s new reality show “Life’s a Tripp” — her and Levi’s son has been a little ball of trouble … and in one recent episode, even called his aunt Willow the f-word.

During the same episode, Bristol admits, “I’m doing a terrible job disciplining Tripp.”

Now, Levi’s had enough — telling TMZ, he’s been watching the show and is “disgusted” by his son’s language and behavior. Levi says his son is on a “downward spiral” and getting “no real parenting.”

Levi tells us, Tripp “deserves a better family” than what Bristol and the rest of the Palins are providing — adding, “I love my son more than anything .. and I will do whatever it takes to make sure he is raised the right way.”

To ensure that happens, Levi dropped by the courthouse in Wasilla, Alaska this week to pick up all the necessary paperwork to obtain full custody of Tripp — and he plans to file it ASAP.

[From TMZ]

I’m no Bristol Palin fan, but Levi hasn’t been an attentive parent to say the least. He allegedly rarely visits Tripp. Now whether that’s just Bristol’s side of the story or whether he’s being prevented from seeing his son remains to be seen. The truth is probably a little of both – Bristol wasn’t forthcoming with access to Tripp and Levi kind of gave up, but either way I don’t see him as being a more dedicated parent. Plus he’s about to have another child with his new girlfriend after they went away for a month’s vacation in a cabin and “forgot” the birth control pills. This is probably about publicity and money for Levi, and he’s in sore need of both from what we’ve heard. Poor Tripp, that’s all I can say.

Either way, the kid loses. Both parents are losers.

  2. Bobo says:

    That kid looks scary!

  3. Aussie girl says:

It’s for the $$$$. The kid looks cute in the pic pitty about his potty mouth. Monkey see monkey do.

  4. Blue says:

Ya, I’m sure he would be a much better parent *eye roll* You know would enforce that child support order as well. What with another baby on the way and no job.

  5. gee says:

That baby is creepy looking. And how did they make such a fair baby?

  6. roxy750 says:

Ya sad either way. Both of these “parents” just need to go off and live a quiet life and raise their child the best they can, and get along for his sake. Instead everything that can go wrong is, well…going wrong. Shame on both of these fame whores.

    • Tiffany says:

I completely agree! They both need to stop chasing fame, and start focusing on PARENTING!

  7. Kasey says:

Sad. Is Bristol still dating Kyle Massey from ‘That’s So Raven’?

    • jwoolman says:

They weren’t dating. Kyle and his brother came up with the idea for the reality show (Kyle is quite well known among the Disney set) when he and Bristol were on DWTS. But Kyle and brother were supposed to be in it also-they’re suing because it was their idea and they were bounced with no compensation. I think Kyle dodged a bullet. He would not have liked the way Tripp is being “raised” and that would have been unpleasant. Bristol isn’t very loyal, Kyle defended her against detractors on DWTS. And Willow!?! She was at the center of the much-publicized homophobic attack on one of those social sites (Facebook?) that Bristol happily joined in with back around the DTWS time. Alaska sources say Willow has been in serious trouble back home, only the Palin money and influence have kept her out of court along with her fellow miscreants. This is nanny material?!? Really, Levi comes across as a much nicer sort than the Palin girls. He probably really does want to be a real dad, but he’s been up against the Palin machine in his way. Look at Alaskan sources for the sordid way the Palins treat anybody who crosses them.

I don’t think either parent really gives a crap about Tripp….they’re both too worried about getting “seen” and remaining “popular”. Shame on both…they are perfect examples of why kids shouldn’t have kids.

  9. RobN says:

He was going to pick up the papers but was distracted by a shiny object on the way and wandered off.

He’s not going after custody; he knows that if he does, that Bristol will go after all the back child support he hasn’t paid and there’s no way he’s risking that.

  10. Obvious says:

Tripp is a cute kid, I wanna know more about Levi’s new baby mama. If he succeeded in gaining custody I’m assuming this girl would become a mommy figure. and while it was stupid to forgot the BC she may be good mother material which would be good for Tripp…

I don’t know, this story just kinda makes me sad. Like all the Kate-bot stories before she made a break for it…Maybe once his 5-6 year contract is up Tripp will make a break for Angelina Jolie’s please. He’s a blonde, he should fit right in with the other 3 blondes, and I don’t think they’d notice another munchkin running around for awhile….

  11. NM6804 says:

Don’t you need money for that Levi? Or some maturity? Or I don’t know…being present to start with instead of seeking fame and knocking up other women two seconds after you met them?

  12. meg says:

He’s the new Kevin Federline. He sees the opportunity for $$ and publicity and he is hopping on the bandwagon. He wants custody and a boatload of child support. What a loser.

  13. Yadicakes says:

I think the courts wouldn’t favor a parent who is hardly around for full custody.

  14. the original bellaluna says:

Neither of them are fit parents. Would Tripp even recognise him?

I bet he’s doing it to get out of paying child support (colour me a cynical bitch) and to have a “big brother” for his other out-of-wedlock child.

Go ahead and file, tool. It doesn’t mean a judge will grant it.

    • Tiffany says:

To be fair, I think if Levi hasn’t seen his son it is partially because she has been living in California and Arizona for a long time. If Levi isnt wealthy AND he has to pay child support, he might not have the funds for repeat trips to the lower 48.

  15. lucy2 says:

This poor kid, both sides of his family are awful, and publicly talk about how awful the other is all the time.

I wonder, when someone does a reality show like she did and their kid is on it, do both parents have to sign off? If not, they should have to.

  16. jwoolman says:

He’s had to drag her into court for visitation before- after the election and Tripp’s birth, he became expendable and the dear girl thought she could kick him to the curb with no consequences. He fought back then and I think this step has been brewing for a while. She’s made it very difficult for him to visit and a kid that age needs easier access to his dad. I would not trust a word Bristol says about his visits or child support. Her income must be much higher than his, anyway, so my bet is that there is a legitimate dispute about the amount. He might need to file for full custody to have a shot at joint custody. I’m surprised Bristol has been allowed to take the kid out of state. Doesn’t sound as though she’s interested in sharing the little hellion.

  17. Jill says:

Reminds me of one of those kids from that movie Village of the Damned. He wants full custody I saw go for it. Relative spawn from that demon Sarah Palin’s bloodline.

  18. Jill says:

I think he needs to take a DNA test. Probably not his kid. She has green eyes or brown eyes and he has brown eyes and that baby has blue eyes and blonde hair. Not impossible but highly suspect.

    • Izzy says:

Two blue-eyed parents actually can produce a brown-eyed child, though it’s rare. Two dark-eyed parents producing a blue-eyed child is much more common; as long as both parents have at least one blue-eyed gene.

Having said that, unless either Bristo or Levi had really blond hair as a kid, I’d be inclined to ask for a paternity test too.

Jeez, what a train wreck. That kid did not exactly hit the Parental Lottery.

  19. red rooster says:

Like her mother, Bristol is apparently quite good at getting jobs that pay well but for which she is not qualified and doesn’t really have to do anything for very long.

  20. skuddles says:

I can’t stand Bristol but she looks darn good next to this douchenozzle. Something about the look on his oafish face always makes me want to smack him one.
