If you’ve read Tina Fey’s Bossypants (which I sincerely hope you have), you know that there are few people Tina Fey admires and loves more than Amy Poehler. Tina is very open about her girl-crush on all things Poehler. I’ve never really heard Amy go on and on about how she feels about Tina, but I assume that the feeling is mutual. These two ladies love each other. And when they are together, magic happens! So I can’t believe it’s taken this long for some event organizer or producer to say, “Huh, we should get Tina and Amy to co-host this event.” Which is what just happened – Tina and Amy will co-host the 2013 Golden Globes! HUZZAH.
Seth who? A couple of weeks after the Oscars landed MacFarlane, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has managed to top the Academy’s unconventional pick, booking two majorly funny stars for their show’s 2013 ceremony: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
HFPA’s president, Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly (along with dick clark productions and NBC) announced Monday that the actresses (and former Saturday Night Live costars) will co-host coverage of this year’s Golden Globes, airing Sunday, January 13.
“The unparalleled comedic timing of Tina and Amy will surely have viewers wanting to tune-in to see them in action,” Takla-O’Reilly shared. “The HFPA is thrilled to have the magnetic duo be a part of the show’s 70th anniversary!”
“Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup,” Paul Telegdy, President of NBC Entertainment’s Alternative and Late Night Programming, added.
“Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama.”
I think this is smart, especially after two years of Ricky Gervais’s hit-or-miss act. In 2011, Gervais was kind of over-the-top and vicious (even Robert Downey Jr. thought so), and then when Ricky returned earlier this year, he made a big deal about how he was still going to be ballsy and offensive, and it turned out to be one of his meeker performances. I trust that Amy and Tina will be able to find a nice balance between snarking on the celebrities in the audience and celebrating Hollywood. Now I kind of hope George Clooney will turn up… just because… OMG the jokes.

…aaaand the Golden Globes wins another one (over the Oscars).
I still think Ricky Gervais wasn’t that offensive. And I’d definitely watch him again (hosting anything).

@ Eve
I loved Gervais hosting… I love his programs, seen them all…I was a regular listener to his podcast, hilarious
H*ll, I even like his crappy movies. I’ve watched multiple times that movie where he is a dentist and sees dead people.
So yeah, I really like the guy.

Hey! I love “Ghost Town”. It’s not crappy at all.
I watch his podcasts every once in a while (it’s on HBO, animated). I LOVE his giggle.

Ricky Gervais is brilliant. I find he’s appropriate to watch at any time.
I love these 2 together.

I love this idea so much I could pop.

That isnt fair. It will make Seth MacFarlane look even more pathetic.

LOL so true!

It will give him some solid jokes to rip off, so thank god for that!

The Oscars hosts are usually pretty lame, so Seth McFart fits right in.

I totally misread Seth MacFarlane as Seth Meyers and was like, “Woah! Why all the hate!?” But now I get it. :p

Well…the Golden Globes sure did a cool pick! I hope they’ll make a hilarious and dynamic pair, enough to get Seth McOffensive Guy to pull out last minute from hosting the Oscars and hand it to someone else.

These two are overrated. I’d rather watch an unleased Ricky Gervais.

This will make the Oscars look like amateur night.

Oh I doubt it. The Golden Globes gave Madonna a Best Actress GG for Evita (egads) and Charo for Best New Artist. The Globes are a joke and mean NOTHING to one’s career. It’s an excuse to give out awards and drink at the same time.

Glad to see the HFPA has been paying attention. The last two Emmy telecasts have proven at least on the small screen the ladies have it ALL OVER the men in terms of bringing the funny.
Just realised SNL was more funny than not last week. Female host… hmmmm.
I don’t think it’ll matter if Clooney’s there or not. Either way he might be too easy a mark. These ladies aren’t just funny, they’re smart funny.
Poor Seth… might be bridge too far to follow them successfully.

Ricky Gervais was kick-ass the first time. He toned it down the second time and it wasn’t all that fun. I’d still watch him host anything. He’s the boss!

Fangirl squeeeeeee! They’d better add some Hamm in there – I am not even playing.

Yes! Best news ever. I love both of them, and they work great together. Should be a lot of fun.
Denver Danni, I agree, they have to get some Hamm in there!

They are both overrated in my opinion. I don’t get their appeal.

I like this a lot.
Yet the cynic in me is already cringing at the NBC self-congratulations that will (if haven’t already) ensue.

Such a good pairing!
But it says something that a single woman is never asked to host one of the major awards shows alone. So much sexism in Hollywood.

Whoopi Goldberg has hosted the Oscars alone

The Golden Globes prove they are more relevant and hip than the Oscars once again. I may not even watch the Oscars this year and I have never missed it in 25 years.
Tina & Amy are going to be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
