Here are some photos of Princess Charlene and Prince Albert at last night’s Princess Grace Awards in NYC. Charlene and Albert were on hand to present awards to various people who are associated with the foundation, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year (the 30th anniversary of Princess Grace’s death). Shall we talk about Charlene? She doesn’t seem quite so… miserable? Of course, she doesn’t look outright happy either. I actually love this dress on her. I’ve been looking for the designer ID for too long, and I still can’t find it, so God knows. Maybe Akris? She wears a lot of Akris. It could also be Ralph Lauren, maybe. Although the satin is wrinkled a bit and that’s never a good look for a princess, I like everything else about the dress and Charlene’s styling. I love the ivory color. I love the high, halter neckline. I love Charlene’s slicked-back hair and her dangly earrings. I think this might be one of her best looks ever.
A lot of people have been discussing whether or not Charlene has lost a lot of weight recently. Is it weird that I can’t see it? She’s always been broad-shouldered and athletic, and I guess she looks slimmer now than she did a year ago. But it’s not some epic weight loss, I don’t think. She just looks like a former athlete who has lost some muscle weight…?
And Albert looks like a toad. As always.

Agreed. Royalty doesn’t appear in a rumpled dress at an event like this. It looks like a nightgown with this silk fabric.

Hate the dress – it really emphasizes her hugh manly looking shoulders.
I like short hair but I always hate the slicked back look so I do not like this hairdo.

If the portrayal of Albert in the Social Network is even half accurate, you have to feel sorry for Charlene. Perhaps the poor thing has discovered better living through chemistry. If I had to look at Albert everyday I’d make friends with the palace pharmacist. Oh, yeah.

I like the dress but it does not look good with her shoulders.
I have line backer shoulders myself and can never find tank tops or sleeveless shirts that look good.
aside from that, she always looks like she’s one word away from a breakdown. she looks like she’s going to cry in that one pic. Id be crying to if I had to stand near PA. that guy is just creepy.

I like the cut, but the material is awful. You just can’t sit down in it, so unless the event is at the same hotel at which you’re staying, it doesn’t work.

I share those same shoulders and collar bone combo. That type of halter dress does not work for us. The inward small gathering of the material at the neck only serves to emphasize our wide shoulders. We do better in the “traditional” halter style, and even better with plain ol’ over-the-shoulder straps.
So I can empathize with her, but she needs to re-think that type of halter.

Every time I see this woman I just want to take her for a beer and let her cry in it. She’d probably have wine, but the point’s the same. She needs a good cry. I hope they find out (for her sake) that she’s barren so he can divorce her and marry someone else for his legit heir. Then she can move back to South Africa and adopt a cute little baby and get off the perpetual Xanax train.

Nice thought however she waited longer than Kate (but was “kept”) and I doubt she has any plans to exit Moncao where her meal ticket has been for such a long time. She just wants to depress everybody and look sullen because frankly she’s incapable of mustering any other feelings and she has never been grateful in spite of bringing absolutely nothing to the table.

Don’t understand the hate towards this couple. I can’t believe her dresser allowed her to wear this dress, although beautiful, doesn’t go well with her swimmer shoulders. Love her hair style.

Somehow I have made it this far and keep missing it… But why is this couple so sad? Why did she seem to be forced to marry him? I am so confused. And have been for months about this. Please explain!

Long story short, a couple of weeks before the wedding, Charlene allegedly found out that Albert wasn’t ‘living honorably’ – rumour has it that he basically he was diddling with someone else. Allegedly it might have been the mother of one of his outside children, a former air hostess from Togo. So Charlene gathered up her passport, suitcases and tried to head for the border (the nearest airport out of Monaco is in Nice), and Prince Albert, getting wind of the plan, sent his guards to get a hold of her, and I think he had the airport confiscate her passport. Charlene was bundled and taken back to Monanco, and the wedding went on without a hitch.
Even before that though, Charlene lived a pretty isolated lifestyle in Monaco. She lived there for about five years before her marriage (Prince Albert put her in an apartment), and in those five years, she hasn’t learnt French (the official language) nor has she learnt the offical Monaesque dialect, so that hasn’t really warmed her up to the people.
In addition, she’s not seen as a great beauty, and with her comments to Tatler about Monaco, she’s painted as vulgar (if you follow the Royal forums), and unable to dress. It’s a big ol’ mess.

Just before the wedding there were rumours that he’d sired a third lovechild (this one would’ve been conceived during their relatinship). Then there were rumours she had tried to flee Monaco to avoid the wedding.
You could chalk it up to tabloid BS, but their body language is so incredibly awkward that it plays right into rumours.

Am I the only person who finds her actual bone structure unsettling in some way? The width of her clavicles seems out of proportion to the overall width of her shoulders.

The back of that dress is WOW! I think she looks great. It does look like she has lost weight though. I thought she looked fine before. Maybe she has morning sickness and can’t keep anything down.

Very stylish dress, dazzling from the back. Right accessories, ear rings etc. I’m in two minds about the neckline on Princess Charlene. Nice neck line but I’ve seen much better on her. Her hair is chic for the occasion, the outfit.
