Elle Macpherson hates Gwyneth Paltrow for ‘tainting’ her marriage to Jeff Soffer

36597PCN_Elle01

Vanity Fair probably doesn’t have the Gwyneth Paltrow article ready yet. There was no Gwyneth headline on the Nicole Kidman cover, and there is no buzz about anything Goopy in the December issue at all. So maybe it will make the January issue, which will be released in the beginning of December? Pre-Christmas holiday with Gwyneth’s takedown? That would be a lovely Christmas present.

Anyway, as everyone keeps claiming, Vanity Fair is going to reveal Gwyneth’s 2009 affair (alleged!) with Florida billionaire Jeffrey Soffer. He was not married at the time, but she was. She and Chris Martin were having problems and she spent a lot of time in Florida, staying at Jeffrey’s mansion. In Touch Weekly even claimed last week that all of their friends knew about the affair, that it was an open secret, and that Jeff and Gwyneth would even hold hands at private parties. Interesting enough, this Gwyneth affair might have overlapped with the beginning of his relationship with Elle Macpherson. Elle and Jeff have been together since late 2009 (there’s the overlap) and they just got married a few months ago. So, what does Elle think of all of this gossip?

Amid reports that Gwyneth Paltrow once had an affair with billionaire Jeff Sofer, friends say that Jeff’s new wife Elle Macpherson has a message for her former pal.

“Elle doesn’t want Gwyneth anywhere near her man,” a source close to Jeff tells In Touch, explaining that Soffer was allegedly hooking up with Gwyneth when he met Elle back in early 2009.

“Jeff and Gwyneth’s relationship stopped as soon as Elle came on the scene – Elle made sure of that.”

(A rep for Gwyneth denies the romance.)

But sources say Elle has been struggling to cope as details emerge about just how close Jeff was with Gwyneth. “It’s only been a few months since her wedding,” says an insider close to Elle, who tied the knot with Jeff in Fiji in August. “She’s so upset that this has tainted everything.”

And while Elle plans to keep her head down in hopes it will blow over, one thing will never change, says the source: “Elle hates Gwyneth.”

[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]

“Jeff and Gwyneth’s relationship stopped as soon as Elle came on the scene – Elle made sure of that.” Nice try, honey. Don’t try to be all “I’m a warrior, you’re not going to take my man!” when it’s pretty clear that there was an overlap between the beginning of your relationship and the end of his previous relationship. Plus, dollars to donuts it was Gwyneth who ended things with Soffer. Now, all that being said… yes, I can totally see how Elle would hate Gwyneth. I mean, Jeff and Elle JUST got married and now he’s been dragged into this Vanity Fair fatwa? I would be pissed too.

    Elle still looks damn good.

    Gwyneth not so much.

  2. Jules says:

Oh the horror……….I am sure famewhore Elle will find a way to manage her gold digger roll with all of the lack of dignity she can muster.

  3. MonicaQ says:

That last picture of Paltrow…yeesh. That was taken at an…unflattering angle. And moment.

  4. Hello Catty says:

Oh my, I do like this man.
    Very sexy.

  5. blue marie says:

Yeah, I’m sure that’s the only reason she dislikes Paltrow.

  6. Dap says:

Why would she hate G.Paltrow more than VF? As far as I can see, it’s Vf which is tainting her marriage (and threatening Paltrow’s) as a way to get back at GP for refusing to talk to them. If they have facts, print them. If they don’t, I found this way of saying things without saying them particularly disgraceful.

    • Sarah says:

i completly agree. if they dont want to be a supermarket tabloid they better have facts. especially when it comes to cheating where families are involved. thats something very damaging for everybody around the celeb.
im all for exposing bad behaviour ( even more when its about holier than though celebs like Goop) but please dont make up any crap that might affect innocents.

And its not even that they really wanted to publish “THE TRUTH” but they are just looking for dirt because he celeb didnt bow down to them when they said so. this whole media blackmail is something thats not often talked about (obviously, why would journalists talk about it in their own papers?) i heard it from a comedian who refused an interview and the paper then was writing that the venue was half empty and nobody laughed, which isnt true i was there, people were crying from laughter and it was sold out.
its not only the celebs who play power games and abuse their power.

    • Hakura says:

I agree. In *this* particular instance, I think her hatred toward Goop is misdirected (but for some reason, it always seems easiest to hate ‘the other woman’). Her ire should be aimed at VF for intending to put out this article.

    • bluhre says:

VF isn’t tainting her marriage. Sheesh. Gwyneth was done after he met her. There hasn’t been anything since, and I have no idea how something about Gwyneth Paltrow would reflect on her. Unless her ego thinks everything is about her . . . . .

  7. Sarah says:

Lainey has a riddle about Goop and someone else (dont know who) which is not this guy. So someone is talking out of their a**.

    • Hakura says:

But just because she’s being connected to another guy, doesn’t mean the rumors about her with this guy aren’t true… As nothing would be stopping her from having relationships with both (either at different time periods, or the same) if she so chose. Personally, I don’t have any stake in this claim, since I could care less about Goop, it’s just a possibility.

    • ctkat1 says:

So apparently there is a producer on “Glee” (not Ryan Murphy, who is gay) who was married at the time of Goop’s guest appearances and is no longer married- that’s who the internet has decided Lainey is talking about.

The other “wife” in the blind is definitely Catherine Zeta-Jones and the man in her situation is supposedly Bart Freudlich, who was her director in a 2009 movie and who is married to Julianne Moore.

Lainey’s blinds have proven to be more accurate than many- she called the Arnett/Poehler divorce, she had one about Heidi Klum & Seal divorcing and Heidi getting lots of romantic footrubs from the security guard (who she is not dating), she had the one about Uma Thurman’s pregnancy, and a few others I can’t remember. The ones that are provable, she has gotten right.

    • bobbiesue says:

I did some snooping around on that blind. 99% sure the other (?) affair was Brad Falchuk. Same age, beautiful in a nerdy way, intellectual, gorgeous eyes, and married in 2009 (she was busy that year; must have been a bad time with Chris). He was an executive producer and he’s a great writer. There was also a different blind about an alleged affair with a writer. Could be one in the same.

      • LAK says:

Before Lainey posted her BI, there was alot of internet chatter about a guy in literary circles in NYC. the one who dated Jemima Khan. can’t be bothered to google. So we are talking at least 3 guys, besides her hubby, in 2009. ALLEGEDLY!!!

  8. Lauren says:

Elitist Goop is not aging well. She is a famewhore and there is no billionaire on earth that would tolerate blabberGoopmouth. Elle needn’t worry.

  9. Kiddo says:

I don’t like Elle, but I can’t remember why now, lol. Her husband isn’t all that either, but I guess he makes up for it with other “assets”.

    • Jaded says:

I don’t like her either because she admitted to using rhino horn powder to stay youthful, then when everyone rose up screaming because rhinos are nearly extinct in the wild, she recanted. She may look good but how many rhinos have died as a result?

      • Kiddo says:

Oh, that’s it! Thanks. Rhinos are remarkable creatures. Did you ever see the documentary on that lady who raised one as a baby, and then after being released into the wild, the rhino would come back and walk along side her? It was quite moving and lovely.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

        Seriously? That is terrible.

I once read that in places like Vietnam and South Africa, rhino horn powder is the “drug of choice” and more expensive than cocaine.

        People are so effed up.

      • bobbiesue says:

        Gross

    • bluhre says:

I looked at that guy for a minute and in that photo he looks like Mr. Bean.

    • toucans says:

And she treats people like crap. I remember reading an article in a local Aus paper about how she went to woolworths ( a supermarket here) and ordered food from the deli and demanded that the worker walk from around the counter to physically place the items into the trolley. Anyone who knows what Woolworths is like (or has worked there) knows that that is just a silly demand and is designed to degrade the worker. From that point on I have always viewed her as an a-hole customer.

  10. LAK says:

    considering how Elle behaves [allegedly!]……….

  11. marina says:

I see Gwyneth as the type of girl who sleeps with your man just so she can prove she could. Classic insecure mean girl.

    • Yep says:

      Snap! Good call!

      • Dorothy says:

Yes, that’s Gwyneth. Guys always ditch her quickly (usually after first time though) and regret and really turn off her fast. But the very core of Gwyneth is to damage other women, you guys are totally right on that one. Manipulate men (which she isn’t really good at or not for long) and really mess up women’s minds which she excels at!!!!!!! This has always been her MO. The only one she can still manipulate is Chris and the only reason he goes along with it is because she does the worst thing a women can do – uses his kids to do it. The older she becomes and her peers become though, she has become less and less successful at it all thank God. The only ones she can still f with are the young group, but they mostly think little of her because she is now trying to act to young herself so they actually find her rather pathetic and her phony “nurturing side” is so hollow they can even see through it. She really has never been half as attractive to people or as successful as she and the media would have you believe and by this point everyone except a few old family brats reeking of nepotism themselves or her fathers’ former friends, They, are her incredible PR machine and hundreds of employees, plus her ruthlessness and obsessive need for attention are the only reason she ever became well known and still is (much to our dismay). I am really happy though because there were so many years she really did fool some pretty decent guys for a while, but never to the extent that she really emotionally damaged so many women’s sense of self – women far more talented, sweet, beloved and beautiful than she – she could really get it there and tear them up. Absolutely cruel and to a the level of a sociopath. But since it is such common knowledge now, women don’t buy into it thank God and men really just don’t find her that appealing. She is very odd and distant with her kids in real life, that is why Blythe and Chris and others are really stepping up with them more now (and insisting on it!) before she really causes very serious problems for them.

  12. It'sJustBlanche says:

Elle needs to forget the rhino horn powder and get a couple vials of juvederm.

  13. BooBooLaRue says:

All I can say he has unfortunate taste in golddiggers, er, women.

  14. Jayna says:

In Touch Weekly says it all, a cheap mag that cuts and pastes articles. I don’t even believe it’s going to be in Vanity Fair.

  15. Evelyn says:

Because I am an armchair investigative journalist, and I live in Florida, I have done some research of my own. I have a theory on the angle that VF is writing about. I believe there is a lot of dirt on Gwyneth’s re-imaging (or the new term – branding) that started in 2009 with two men. One of the men is an executive producer on Glee, and the other is a NYC book publisher who negotiated a heavy advance for Goop’s cookbooks. Both of them are very good-looking and come from wealthy families. Characteristically it is all similar to how she won Harvey Weinstein’s support and the much talked about, and undeserved Oscar.

    • bobbiesue says:

You’re right. Not sure who the publisher is but the Glee guy is Brad Falchuk. Also, lucky for us, Gwyneth nor her people read any of this.

    • LAK says:

I’m not sure whether we should write the NYC’s name on a public forum especially when it’s unsubstantiated gossip, but here is the clue….He dated Jemima Khan in 2010/11. His name is quite established in book publishing 😉

    • Evelyn says:

If you wanna know what happened between her and Madonna after 15 years of friendship where Madonna helped her through her father’s passing well here it is : ALLEGEDLY Gwyneth sided with Tracy Anderson when Madonna discovered that her Raising Malawi charity for kids in Africa lost millions of her personal money and contributers to the person who was the head of the charity Philippe van den Bossche, allegedly Tracy’s boyfriend. Though allegedly Tracy is herself a scammer (she may or may not have stole money from friends and partners). When Madonna learned that there was no money anymore to build the schools she promised, she had an audit made by Global Philanthropy and most of the money appeared to allegedly have been spent on luxuries for Van Den Bossche whom she allegedly fired. Allegedly she also cut ties with Anderson because of this and with Paltrow who sided with the allegedly scammng couple.

  16. MademoiselleRose says:

They’ll be even more pissed off if the story doesn’t turn out to be about them, then they’ll have put up with gossip for nothing. I thought I read somewhere that the article may be about Goop and Madonna’s falling out because allegedly Goop tried to pork Madonna’s husband at the time, Guy Ritchie. Don’t know where I read that though. It’ll have to be a good one after all this build up.

  17. glaugh says:

I can’t stand Elle. She supports the hunting and killing of rhinos for their horns, not to mention she always comes across as uppity and snotty in interviews. I actually prefer Goop over her.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

I think I do too, after reading about the comments about Elle’s behavior here.

      • Sloane W.yatt says:

Me too! I hope I never learn Goop’s going on helicopter hunts or wearing endangered species. It’s bad enough wearing fur, but those celebrities and others like Michael Vick who support animal cruelty have a special place in Hell/or a mass condemnation in this life waiting for them.

  18. Andrew1 says:

I personally think that if Chris knows about this then it shouldn’t be published. Like maybe she did chest, Chris forgave her, and they moved on? Doesn’t mean the world needs to know about it. Who knows though, just a thought

  19. giddy says:

…ummmm…all these people are despicable humans… and totally deserve each other…think about them huddled inside the same DUMB bunker… fighting over whose got the best abs… rotting in their own bilge…yummy…

  20. Lark says:

I don’t think it is Jeff Soffer. Gwyneth may not be the brightest bulb, but she’s not stupid enough to deny an affair when there is the possibility that proof may exist with that certain person. However, I do think she probably had an affair with a different person and probably is happy they are focusing on Jeff because it means they are going in the wrong direction. I do feel bad for her though in a sense….I doubt Chris Martin was entirely faithful too. And while I understand that people despise Gwyneth, I don’t get the fascination in digging up someone’s sexual misdoings unless it is something like a homophobic politician who turns out to secretly be into young rent boys. And for all we know, Gwyneth and Chris could have some sort of arrangement. I wish Vanity Fair would do something like dig up dirt on Josh Brolin, who is rumored to be a serial abuser of women (and the whole thing where Diane Lane called the cops but then later refused to press charges)…or go after Jack Nicholson who was notorious for having a thing for way under-aged girls back in the day….than expose some affair.

    • nicegirl says:

I wouldn’t mind a real Hollywood expose as well. Get to work, VF

    • Monkey Towz says:

I agree. I don’t care who she sleeps with (unless it’s someone/something crazy), i want to know what Really happened with Wynona.
Make me want to renew my subscription Vanity Fair!

    • J says:

I don’t care who she sleeps with either. I’m surprised to watch the media turn on her, though, as she’s always been one of their on-the-pedestal stars. My theory is VF knows that there is enough latent bad feeling toward Gwyneth that a take-down will sell well and somehow (!) there exists the behind-the-scenes willingness to go through with it and not protect her. Maybe her re-branding of herself as a “lifestyle” curator for profit has pissed people off? Whatever it is, something’s changed for Gwyneth.

  21. Dana M says:

Didn’t Chris allegedly cheat on GP with a Kate Bosworth around the same time? If so, wonder if she did it in retaliation.

    • Carolyn says:

Chris also seemingly had a relationship with Natalie Imbruglia.

To all those calling Elle a gold-digger…she does have her own mega millions. Maybe not quite as much as Jeff. She’s not exactly penniless. Elle was never going to marry an average guy in an average suburb, anyway.

  22. moo says:

(A rep for Gwyneth denies the romance.)

That has to be one of the stupidest things to say. Like we’re all believing that she or any other celebrity with a “rep” would know about that kind of stuff? “Oh man, I just had a one night stand… I better tell my REP all about it!!!” Whatever…….

  23. nicegirl says:

I would be PO’d too but Elle is waaaayyyy better than Gwyneth, right? I would think it would be a no brainer for anyone with a penis.

  24. lunchcoma says:

It takes two to tango, Elle. I’m sure you don’t want to deal with this scandal right after your wedding, but why not cast the disapproval in the direction of your husband? No one forced him to sleep with a married woman.

  25. silly you says:

@lunchcoma…finally the voice if freaking reason! If her man could limit himself to one unmarried woman, her gold-digging esca

  26. silly you says:

@lunchcoma…finally the voice if freaking reason! If her man could limit himself to one unmarried woman at a time, there wouldn’t be a problem.
