As far as Real Housewives go, I guess Carole Radziwill isn’t so bad. She had a legit job in media/journalism, she was married to Lee Radziwill’s son Anthony (JFK Jr’s cousin) and she’s written a couple of bestsellers after Anthony passed away from cancer (just weeks before after JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette perished in that plane crash). Carole and her fellow Real Housewives already revealed that she dated George Clooney for a bit, probably in the early to mid aughts. Now Carole has revealed that she had some sort of thing with Ralph Fiennes as well. GURL, don’t joke about that.
Add a second handsome Oscar winner to Carole Radziwill’s little black book! The Real Housewives of New York City star — who famously dated George Clooney — also had a summer romance with English actor Ralph Fiennes. On the July 8 episode of the hit Bravo reality show, the author hinted that a passage in her new book, The Widow’s Guide to Sex and Dating, was inspired by her real-life romance with The Grand Budapest Hotel actor.
“It was long ago and far away … over a summer I was living in London,” Radziwill, still striking at 50, tells Us Weekly exclusively of her time with Fiennes. While sending out early copies of her novel on Tuesday’s episode, the Bravo star briefly mentioned a scene in the book which the actor would clearly recognize as a time they had together, “[But] our relationship was not the basis for a storyline in my novel,” she tells Us. “But like most fiction, stories are a pinch of the writer’s experience and a part their imagination.”
The widow of Anthony Radziwill, whose aunt was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, tells Us the scene in her book alluding to Fiennes recounts a time when she met up with the Skyfall actor at a local bookstore.
“I hadn’t seen Ralph for some time and heard he was in town,” she recounts to Us. “I left a note at his hotel. It was a copy of a note that Sam Beckett had once written to a friend. I knew Ralph would get the reference. He’s very intelligent, you know. That note and the subsequent meeting at the bookstore was loosely detailed toward the end of the book. I’m afraid that is all I will say. Wink.”
“I’d forgotten I had used his full name in the show,” the slender brunette concludes to Us, “I saw him a few months ago and he said the book was on his bedside table…He’s an insatiable reader.”
Considering Ralph rarely (if ever) says anything about his romantic life, I’m guessing he won’t bother to confirm or deny this either way. Which means Carole gets to say whatever she wants about him. Maybe they did have a fling. Maybe he doesn’t even remember her. Maybe she’s just promoting a book. Maybe she’s a famewhore. I have no idea. But if I banged Ralph (especially back in the 1990s, when he was so beautiful it caused me physical pain), I would be shouting it from the rooftops.

Yes that’s him, but that’s very hot to me. I like that type of abandon, passion and impulsiveness that Fiennes really displays in his work and life.
What is not hot is how he publicly cheated on his wife, Alex Kingston, with his Hamlet co-star, Francesca Annis, and then subsequently left his lovely wife and effed her up real bad. He then left Annis for another piece of a** years on. He’s very sexy and seductive, but he’s also a selfish prick.
Ralph’s Hamlet was the first production I saw on Broadway. His intense chemistry with Francesca was palpable to even my pre-teen self. I thought they made a hot couple, but I felt so bad for Alex when I read what happened (she didn’t shy away from the subject at all in interviews.) “He came in all bright and breezy and said he was in love with Francesca Annis.” But they were drama school sweethearts and Alex said he never wanted kids like she did. She went on to star in ER and have a family with a German photojournalist. Francesca got cheated on by Ralph with some air tart after a living with him for many years and I haven’t heard much about her since.

Wow, I’m super jealous you got to see that live!! 🙂 I guess Alex actually has a better life now and was lucky to escape the train-wreck that is Ralph Fiennes. I’m sure he’s a glorious lay and smart and interesting, but seriously, his life choices have proven him to be a glorious douchebag. He’s extremely talented and has that intangible but overwhelming sex-appeal going for him, so he gets away with it. I’ve recently seen the Grand Budapest Hotel and he was amazing in it, so… It’s not like his career or life in general got hurt by all the cheating and heartbreak he leaves around.
Interesting though, compared to him, Kristen Stewart is a saintly nun, but most people hate her a lot more than him.

I bought her book after her husband and John& Caroline’s death and she’s a good writer, even though she does name drop. I found her sympathetic and likable, but I haven’t seen her on any of the housewives shows. I don’t watch them anymore.

I haven’t watched the show since the last season she was on, but her nose looks very different. But that can’t be surgery, no one goes to make their nose bigger.
Probably doesn’t photograph well. Noses can be tricky things, hence all the refinements in Hollywood. Sometimes adjusting a downturned nose makes appear wider from the front.

I believe her. As much a I like Ralph, guy has incredibly low standards in terms of hook-ups. He would sleep with any woman. Have you seen the infamous stewardess? He’s a wonderful actor, seems like a really nice guy and his co-workers and fans who met him, are always praising him for being such a polite and friendly person but his sex-life is a mess. He could at least choose women who won’t blabber about every little detail in media but he probably doesn’t really care.

I didn’t mean that the low standards thing is about the looks. It’s the whole package – women he is caught heaving afairs with (his type I guess) are usually really low-class. The model he cheated on Annis with is a total airhead. Radziwill is a reality star who wrote a book about who she slept with which speaks for itself. Then there was that one ex-girlfriend who went to tabloids to “confess” what kind of kinky sex Ralph Fiennes likes and what did she have to do for him. Who does that? The stewardess is an extreme example because she decided to go public with a story that put her in an even worse light than him (she was at work after all) and than tried to become famous as the one who once had a bathroom sex with an actor. She failed miserably and only got herself in the papers again after she assaulted three policemen. Really classy that one. That’s why I mention her looks. If she doesn’t have much to offer in any other area, she should at least look like Doutzen Kroes and not like a tired middle-aged woman who likes to tan, smokes and drinks to much. That would maybe explain why he had sex with her in a filthy bathroom and didn’t even bother to wear a condom. Ok – nothing explains that – but he could try to rationalize it by saying he couldn’t contain himself like some women when they see Jason Momoa.

I watch RHONY and Carole Radziwill is a total name dropper who tries to act otherwise, I like her on the show and she is a highly accomplished woman professionally herself but I must admit she is very physically unattractive to the point of questioning how all these very hight profile good looking men were attracted to her looks, especially when she brags about it this much. The funny thing is in the show they have shown quite a lot of photos when she was younger and she looks way better now then she did in her younger days, which does not say a lot.
Nah. Look at her roundabout 30 years old when she either had a nice makeover or surgery or whatever. She was never a model, but certainly put together and nice looking. It’s amazing how much good hair, makeup, and photography can do for a person.

Not really relevant to the story, but I’m pretty sure Anthony Radziwill passed away shortly after John and Carolyn, not before.
Photos from the sea burial showed Anthony seated on the boat. I think he passed away two or three weeks after the funeral. I do think he and John were very close.
Anthony was his best man. Carole tells such a moving story about John comforting Anthony in the hospital when they thought he was about to die, in her book.
The book is worth reading just for that beautiful story.

Carole is not “pretty” in the classic sense. But she is smart & witty which elevates her attractiveness. She knows plenty of famous people and mentions their names. So what? I admired her until she did that stupid waxing thing that all those stupid housewives do. Riveting TV, surprised she sunk to that level…
Yeah, and then she wrote a book about…her experiences on the Real Housewives. Really disappointed to hear how far she’s declined. I guess she was no different than the rest of them to start with.
I can’t believe I’m about to defend Carole – she really grates. I don’t think Carole has written about the show, or even who she slept with. Her first book is a memoir about her husband dying, and the second is fiction. I’ve not yet read her memoir, but I’ve heard she doesn’t really name drop. For instance, she refers to their friends Mike and Diane. Mike and Diane turn out to be Mike Nichols and Diane Sawyer.
Carole is by no means conventionally attractive – her profile looks like she has a huge upper denture plate in her mouth, but forgot her bottom plate, so her chin is recessed. But the cool thing is this – Carole thinks she’s hot. She acts like she’s hot, and men seem to respond in kind. She’s confident, funny, successful, and seems to now be almost a commitment phobe – so no strings sex.
Also, what she says on the show’s intro:
“If you’re going to talk about me behind my back, at least check out my great ass”

You know I enjoyed her memoir and would be interested in reading her latest book. But Jesus joining the cast of Real Housewives and this name dropping. Kind of tacky.

I’m not surprised Carole is on a reality show. She was once on Oprah. She talked about JFK Jr, Caroline and Anthony. She gave the impression that she liked to name drop about people or events the public was interested in. I didn’t like that about her. It was clear she was discussing personal details about Caroline and JFK Jr that they would not have appreciated no matter how positive the comments were. She looked worn out and tired then too.
Gosh, I’m surprised by it, but only because I first became aware of her when she was promoting her memoir about the loss of those three loves in her life. She seemed genuine and dignified in the way she shared what must have been a powerful period of loss. I expected her to be as private as the company she kept. I was so surprised to read she was cast on RH and am a little confused by her name dropping and self promotion. does that strike anyone else as . . . low? maybe she’s just having fun and I should back off. she does seem to have enjoyed herself 🙂

She attracts men because she has that skinny look that I think a lot of men do like, but she is also accomplished. I agree with someone above who said she thinks she’s hot, and this is true – she has an air of calm, self-confidence. All of these things override the fact that she’s not beautiful or traditionally pretty. But I watch the Real Housewives, and I have to say, she has seriously screwed with her face this season. I think she looks terrible – way too many fillers and Botox – it has changed her face in a bad way. Combined with the extreme overbite, it’s not a good look.
She attracts men because she is a confident, intense flirt. IMO, she’s an opportunist, just savvier and classier seeming than most. Bottom line- she has a giant, rapacious maw overlayed with wit/irony.
