Does Justin Theroux want Jennifer Aniston to sell her enormous Bel Air mansion?

A few days ago, Chris McMillan posted this ^^ photo to his Instagram. This is pretty much Jennifer Aniston’s only social media presence at this point – she’s in photos her hairstylist posts to his Instagram. She doesn’t have a Twitter, an IG, a Facebook page or anything else. McMillan posted the photo and tagged it: #jenniferaniston #braid #fishtail #summer-hair #unplugged @livingproofinc #lovethisgirl. Chris and Jen have a very lucrative friendship and partnership – his work on her hair made him famous and he does hair for many, many celebrities (including Kim Kardashian). She also brought Chris in on her Living Proof investment, regardless of the fact that she does weird Brazilian chemical treatments that destroy her hair (and despite the fact that she wears lots of extensions and hair pieces). That being said, I do like the fishtail braid – it reminds me of this look.

As for Jennifer’s relationship with Justin Theroux… I don’t know. There were rumors that they would finally get married sometime soon in Mexico, but God knows. He’s still living for the most part in NYC and she’s living for the most part in LA, in that huge Bel Air mansion she spent two years renovating. Speaking of, sources claim Justin wants to downscale:

Justin Theroux is apparently keen for Jennifer Aniston to scale down their house size, as he’s “more comfortable in a smaller space”. The loved up couple have recently weathered rumours that their relationship is in turmoil, but their red carpet appearance at June’s premiere of Justin’s new show The Leftovers seems to have put the gossip to bed.

Now friends say Justin, 42, is keen for his fiancée to embrace a more modest lifestyle, starting with the size of their house.

“Justin is a New York native, and is far more comfortable in a smaller space. The Bel Air mansion can feel more like a show home than somewhere that they can relax together,” an insider told British magazine Grazia.

While 45-year-old Jennifer is thought to be keen to sell up the house is not yet on the market.

The couple, who announced their engagement in August 2012, bought their home the same year and reportedly spent a cool £3 million renovating the property; installing a £87,000 marble sauna and a boutique kitchen.

“It’s not officially listed, as Jen’s got a property mediator sourcing potential buyers first. She wants to see if she can get a good return on it before placing it on the market. If that happens she’s looking into buying a new penthouse in New York, and keeping her Hollywood hills property as an LA base,” the source added.

The reported asking price is apparently £23 million, which is almost twice what they originally paid.

[From The Belfast Telegraph]

Aniston flipped her old Beverly Hills home shortly after she completed a multi-year renovation on it as well. She even did an Architectural Digest cover shoot in that home, which is when we discovered that Aniston likes 1970s-style shag-pad interior design. I was kind of hoping that she would do another interior design magazine editorial for this Bel Air home, because I’d really like to see the renovations. Plus, I’m sure a magazine editorial would up the resale price. And yes, I bet Justin is really uncomfortable in some palatial Bel Air mansion. He’s hardcore, remember. He probably wants some small hipster abode in the Hollywood Hills.

Here are some photos of Aniston at a skincare clinic last week (look at how short her hair is):

    who really cares?

  2. Jenns says:

    Katniss Aniston.

  3. Rhiley says:

Her hair looks very short and thin but the fishtail pic is kind of adorable.

  4. RobN says:

Well, when they both want to sell it, like it sounds, it isn’t really much of a relationship crisis.

I certainly can’t shade her for not having a bigger social media presence. Lots, if not all, celebrities, ought to learn to keep their mouths closed more often.

  5. Sara says:

Wow, that must be a ton of extensions. She looks so much better with that little extra weight, her legs look great!

    • Mingy says:

Her legs do look great..she’s working those shorts!

    • Jaxx says:

She does have a beautiful body, no doubt about it. But for someone known for great hair, this has been a bad year. That brown greasy looking ponytail is horrible. Why hasn’t she colored it blonde? She really needs all that blonde hair. Now I can see why she has hung onto it for so long. Without the hair she really is only average at best. If she can clip in that braid, then why can’t she clip in some more, AND color it lighter. She needs it. Badly.

  6. lower-case deb says:

but why? didn’t she buy it with her own money and she doesn’t owe anything to Justin. maybe they can both get a smaller place, in addition to, but she doesn’t have to sell it just because he doesn’t like it.

    (unless it’s a joint purchase?)

i hope this is just one of those fanfic things the tab writers come up with to make it sound like it’s trouble in paradise.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

      @Lower-case Deb …

If true, perhaps the sale price proceeds are a ‘payoff’ for services rendered per whatever contract/agreement Justin agreed to.

      • Tippy says:

If there were such an agreement then Justin’s compensation has already come in the form of fame.

Two years ago Justin Theroux was an obscure writer/actor/director. Now he is a household name and the sky is the limit.

  7. Lola says:

I don’t know if this source is true or not. But, why buy a house and later say that is too big for you? Was it not obvious from the beginning? Did they pay for the house equally? Or did she give more $$? He now wants it sold because of the remodel / worth more (supposedly) return on the dollar?

Prior to him dating her, I had no clue who he was. I still don’t recall having seem him anywhere. Now, knowing full well I am a spectator, the stories about this couple are a bit odd. If they are true (they don’t have to be) he gives a manipulative – do it my way or the highway – vibe- type of guy. And she gives an air of an eager school girl for some reason. Hopefully I am wrong, but still … aren’t they in their 40’s??

    • Janet says:

Actually, I get the my way or the highway vibe from her as well. It sounds like a really weird relationship. If they are so committed to each other, why are they spending so much time living apart?

I can’t see her fitting into his family at all. He comes from some very literary and intellectual people (Paul, Louis, Marcel and Alexander) and she doesn’t seem to have much between the ears. At least that’s the impression she gives in interviews. Lord knows how she could keep up with the dinner table conversations.

      • Lola says:

Tbh, I have no idea about his family or what they do. True, her comments during interviews seem, well … I would say that she seems not to be well read. It’s just the vibe I get.

      • emmie_a says:

I know total morons who come from families filled with geniuses so I don’t know how much credit you can give him for his background.

As for her selling her house, keep up on the gossip people. She submitted plans for a massive closet recently so why would she be starting a new project while selling?

    • Decloo says:

Buyer’s Remorse. It happens all the time. You get carried away with all the cool rooms. She probably also likes redecorating. I’m a serial house buyer/renter because I get tired of the decor and want to have a new project. People often start out with huge houses, put in all the bells and whistles, and then decide that smaller is just easier. I think that might be the women’s mid-life equivalent of men buying sport cars.

    • Tippy says:

Considering the fact that she had to break through a wall and transform the garage into a walk-in closet suggests that the house is not too big.

I also heard she was considering building another structure on the property which would have essentially been Justin’s Man Cave.

    • Bridget says:

High end home flipping for profit. She probably never intended to live in it.

  8. NOAIRE says:

She shouldn’t do close up pictures she looks So average nothing special. I guess she must have had countless nose jobs and that nose is still huge! She always does an instagram release when she has a movie coming out. I guess this is in anticipation for her movie “life of a crime” that is going straight to VOD. Whatever happened to “squirrels to the nut”? Her movie career is nothing to write home about…..

    • Renee says:

I have a big nose myself but your comment made me laugh.

      • NOAIRE says:

Ha! Am glad you found that funny! 🙂
Having a large nose itsnt bad in fact the human nose doesn’t stop growing at all.
Who would have thought after So many nose jobs she will still have it huge. She has her hands in So many things aveeno, living proof her perfume and all that! By the way how is the sale of her perfume coming?

  9. Dea says:

He must not love her too much to post such an unflattering pic that really highlights her huge nose.
Her nose and chin have their own zip codes.
And isn’t Aveeno enough for her?? Probably does not even use it.

  10. lisa2 says:

I think this story is based on a mention in Variety about her bringing in people to see the house. I had to look for it but there was a story in Variety in July.

    http://variety.com/2014/dirt/real-estalker/is-jennifer-aniston-pulling-an-ellen-de-generes-1201260100/
    ..

The part about Justin is probably a gossip spin..but I think it is true she is flipping the house.

    • lucy2 says:

      I think you’re right.
If she is selling it, I doubt Justin is pushing her to do so (totally tabloid spin). This seems to be something she enjoys doing – finding a place that needs work, renovating, and selling. If I had the money and time, it’d be a fun (and lucrative) hobby.

      • lisa2 says:

It is easy to do that when you don’t have children. But that being said they don’t seem to have made a permanent place to “call home”.
As the article said.. Ellen does this a lot but then she and Porsha don’t have children to consider. I def don’t believe that part about them buying in NYC. She already had 2 apartments and sold them at a lose.

    • Jen2 says:

I don’t think he cares one way or the other. He seems to enjoy NYC and living in an apartment. I don’t remember, but I thought she had a big house, which she sold, then bought this one as it was smaller. So I guess she likes to flip houses and move on to smaller projects.

  11. Kiddo says:

Someone is keen on the word keen.

  12. Debb says:

Why are her nostrils always flared?

  13. Des says:

Give her short hair…..and wala you get Ellen. Thats who I thought it was at a glance.

  14. Mrs McCubbins says:

Cute photo, gorgeous legs. Living Proof is a fantastic line. Love it!

  15. Hissyfit says:

Damn. I’ve always thought her beauty is below average in Hollywood land but that instagram photo is another level. She’s so damn unattractive.

That house is massive for her and her dog and an occasional visit from her boyfriend so I’m not wondering why she wants to get rid of it and get a smaller house.

  16. Noushin says:

    Jen is awesome.

  17. TheRealMaya says:

People should sue living proof and Aveeno for false advertisement. If l’oreal was sued over some of the ambassadors wearing extensions then so should Jennifer.

Same with Aveeno – she claims that Aveeno is the reason for her flawless and glowing skin and yet she gets papped almost monthly having one beauty treatment or another.

I am done talking about her and her weird/fake/publicity relationship with Justin the wannabe hipster aka gold digger Theroux. If they are happy with the arrangement then who cares. I don’t understand it but others (Jeniopaths) probably do.

PS: Jennifer really has a nice pair of legs – not skinny nor too exercised look.

PPS: she claims to hate the media intrusion and yet she is taking selfies and gets her showbusiness friends and agent to publish them knowing it will be seen. Hypocrite isn’t?

  18. Tippy says:

Jennifer won’t be moving back to New York. She doesn’t enjoy living there and I can’t say as I blame her.

Justin seems as if he may be a little OCD or has some other kind of anxiety / personality disorder.

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Tippy, who wrote: “Justin seems as if he may be a little OCD or has some other kind of anxiety / personality disorder.”

      Yep … it’s called ‘all-about-me-itis.’

  19. ann h says:

Her artificial hair for the fish tail is about 12 inches different from her hair in a pony tail. I’ve never experienced extensions, so I’m wondering if the commenters have and what they feel like. I can’t even wear an ankle bracelet to bed because I rub it off with my leg. Feels foreign on my body I guess.

    • HappyMom says:

I have them-just 1 set spread out in the front of my (very thin & fine) hair. If I rub my hands over my scalp it feels sort of lumpy. I like how they look-but they do feel kind of weird. And I think they scare Mr. HappyMom a little bit . . .

      • ann h says:

Thanks, I’ve always wondered. I’m lucky I guess. I have always had thick hair and get it thinned out. Do they damage your hair?

  20. lena horne says:

    i like her hair shorter.

  21. Anguishedcorn says:

Again with the New York/ LA Lifestyle issues between these two. It’s never going to be resolved.

  22. jill says:

Jennifer Aniston Paid $20.97 Million For That Bel Air Vineyard

The dirt on Jennifer Aniston’s new A. Quincy Jones-designed house in Bel Air has finally come through–she paid $20.97 million, according to Redfin, and appears to have purchased it all on her own. We first saw the ridic spread, which includes a private vineyard, four bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms, a pool, and a guesthouse on more than three acres, listed in 2008 for $29 million. Most recently it was listed at $24.9 million. All in all, Aniston makes out well, since she sold her last LA house (in Trousdale Estates) for $35 million. She bought the Bel Air house from Maguire Properties head Robert F. Maguire III and looks to own it on her own, without (as rumored) boyfriend Justin Theroux, as the trusts listed as the new owners are the same ones that owned the Trousdale house.

Justin’s career is really taking off. With the Leftovers shooting in NYC kind of ties his hands, He is stellar in the role of Police Chief Kevin Garvey, forcing him to show a huge range of motion.
