Carrie Underwood debuts baby bump in a floral onesie: cute or bad choice?

Pregnant Carrie Underwood Performs At Ravinia Festival
These are photos of Carrie Underwood performing at the Ravina Festival this weekend in Highland Park, Illinois. Carrie is wearing a floral jumpsuit by Katherine Feine and you can just see a hint of her baby bump. Last week, Carrie announced that she was expecting her first child with her husband of four years, hockey player Mike Fisher. Given how far along she looks, I would assume that she waited until she was at least three months’ pregnant before making it public. Maybe that jumpsuit is just puffing out though.

In terms of this outfit… she’s not that pregnant yet so she doesn’t get a pregnancy pass. One of the commenters on Us Weekly’s story mentioned that this looks similar to the floral print Givenchy mess that Kim Kardashian wore to the Met Gala. (Kim was also pregnant at the time.) I wouldn’t say this onesie is that bad, but it does have that 80s couch look in common.

My favorite bump reveal dress was Kate Hudson’s 2003 premiere gown with the cut out around the stomach. I just googled it, and that dress was much uglier than I remembered. Still, Kate was cute in it and she generally has great pregnancy style. (And style in general.)

Carrie, though, not so much. So I expect her pregnancy style will be more Kardashian than Hudson. This first outfit is definitely pointing her in the Kardashian direction.

I definitely had something like that in 1994.

    • Size Does Matter says:

I’m pretty sure I wore a dress in that print to my brother’s wedding, in 1992. It’s awful.

    • Christin says:

That was a common dress pattern in the early 1990s. And jumpsuits made a little comeback around 1994, so maybe she got the outfit at a vintage shop.

the Sound of Music School of Making Clothes out of Home Furnishing.

  3. KelT says:

Yikes. Looks like something I made in Home Ec class years ago. Hope this pregnancy doesn’t send her off the rails. She usually has great taste.

  4. pnichols says:

She looks like a sofa with bad hair extensions.

    • Lara K says:

Haha. I thought of a sofa too!
What’s with the dumb pregnancy styles out there? Why not normal clothes that just shape the bump?

  5. Rose says:

Looks like something my grandma would wear….if she were still alive. Usually, I like most of Carrie’s outfits.

  6. Tracy says:

    That is one terrible outfit.

  7. HH says:

Carrie has never had the best style. It’s very pageant-queen-meets-figure skater… and I guess now “-meets drapes”

      Ugh. No joke.

Underwood is tiny. And could wear things that very few people could even think about putting on.

Yet, she still dresses like a pageant girl from 1987. Wearing the very best from the Jessica McClintock bridesmaid and jumpsuit line.

  8. Dani says:

If it was sleeveless/strapless, better tailored to her body and maybe the pant would be either super skinny or wide leg, it could work, with a belt. I don’t totally hate it.

Carrie Underwood clowned her own outfit during that show. Here’s video:

Transcript: “Is it just me or has anybody else ever picked out an outfit and then saw it on the big screen and realized that it kinda looks like the couch that your grandma used to have? So…I just took the tags off, I can’t return it, but this is the last time you’ll see this on me. [laughs] It looked good on the dimly lit bus!”

  10. snowflake says:

    hideous!

  11. Penelope says:

    Oh, Carrie. Just. No.

Just saw that she, herself, made jokes about it after realizing how hideous it was. Points for being a good sport!

  12. Lendy says:

    No excuse for that hideousness.

  13. Lauren says:

I was totally at this show!!! Yes the outfit was hideous but the best part was she totally admitted that to us during the show!! After a song she said “ok guys I just have to laugh…have you ever picked out an outfit you thought was cute and then saw yourself on the jumbotron and realized you look just like your grandmas sofa? It looked so cute on my dimly lit tour bus. Man..I totally just took the tags off so I can’t return it. Needless to say you won’t be seeing this outfit again!” She was absolutely adorable and laughed it off which made me love her even more. And yes, she was rocking a cute baby bump!! Love me some Carrie!
