Britney Spears pissed off a plane full of weary travellers when she decided to eave the flight just minutes before takeoff. Her complaint - the seats weren’t leather and she couldn’t get that comfortable sticky feeling on the back of her bare legs. She delayed the four-hour flight from LA to Florida for almost an hour as the walkway had to be brought back and the doors opened just for her. She said she would charter a plane instead:

Flameout popster Britney Spears flipped again - ranting about the lack of leather seats on her United Airlines flight from L.A. to Miami Friday night, and demanding to be let off minutes before takeoff . “She just said, ‘I don’t want to fly on this plane. It hasn’t got leather seats,’ ” passenger Tony Sanchez told Splash News. The captain accommodated, later apologizing to passengers. “He said a passenger wanted to get off so he had to respect their wishes. He didn’t say it was Britney Spears.” Sanchez said. “Some people were getting really annoyed.” Spears’ flacks didn’t return calls. The star was due to perform at the House of Blues in Orlando last night, and in South Beach today.

At Britney’s Orlando concert, the CD she was lipsynching to skipped, and she had to turn her head while it sorted itself. Then at her show at Mansion nightclub in Miami Beach she had to leave the stage for several minutes after her prop microphone got caught in her top. [Details from SplashNews]

If Britney wasn’t such a trainwreck, do you think anyone would pay attention to her? She’s got a formula of behaving badly that works for her and she’s milking it for all it’s worth. Extreme narcissism is interesting to watch for a while, but the joke is always on her. She’s headed for another breakdown if she doesn’t take some time off and get her head on straight.

I know I would be crying bloody murder if some fickle brat decided to leave a plane I was on just before it was about to take off. If she wasn’t Britney Spears they probably would have called it air rage and had the cops meet her for questioning afterwards.
