Solange Knowles’ bridal look: an amazing Stephane Rolland caped jumpsuit?!

FFN_Knowles_Solange_Wed_RMSB_111614_51586548

YES. Solange Knowles wore jumpsuit for part of weekend wedding. AND A CAPE. Girl, that is SO MUCH YES. Last week, there was a rumor going around that Solange and her long-time love Alan Ferguson were going to get hitched in NOLA, and lo and behold, it came to pass. These are actually photos from outside their wedding, which took place at the Marigny Opera House. Two hundred friends and family came out to celebrate Solange and Alan, including Solange’s mom Tina Knowles and Solange’s sister Beyonce. Jay-Z was not at any of the pre-wedding festivities, but he did get an invite to the wedding. Just as well. I wonder if he let the bride smack him a few times for good luck. Just FYI: at first I thought these photos were Solange’s actual wedding look, but it turns out she wore an actual wedding gown with a cape for the ceremony – go here to Vogue to see.

She’s a married woman! Solange Knowles tied the knot with video director Alan Ferguson in New Orleans on Sunday in front of about 200 family and friends, PEOPLE confirms.

The happy couple said “I do” at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans. Around 2 p.m., the pair arrived via white-painted vintage bicycles, and it was all about the details: The bride’s basket held flowers!

“Beaming. Calm. They looked pretty calm, relaxed on their wedding day,” one onlooker tells PEOPLE. “Definitely happy.”

As for their arrival attire, the bride rocked a cream pantsuit with a cape and plunging V-neck (accenting her look with a red lip) by Stéphane Rolland, while the groom matched in a white suit sans tie. Meanwhile, big sis Beyoncé pulled up about 15 minutes later in a black SUV, with husband Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy in tow. Mom Tina Knowles, son Daniel Julez and singer Janelle Monae also attended.

Ahead of their nuptials, the newlyweds celebrated with an intimate pre-wedding bash Friday at NOLA’s Indywood Cinema, which Hayley Sampson, the theater’s co-owner, told PEOPLE, “was pretty adorable.”

“Luckily, I dated all of the losers ages ago,” she told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year. “My love life has been stable for a while. It’s a f–cked up thing … without conflict it’s a lot harder to write interesting songs.”

In June, the two went on a romantic getaway to Jamaica, where the singer celebrated her 28th birthday. Ferguson, 51, has directed videos for Katy Perry and John Legend, and won a BET Award for Best Video Director for co-directing Beyoncé’s “Party” and “Dance for You” music videos. This is the second marriage for the private star, who had Daniel Julez, 10, with ex-husband Daniel Smith.

[From People]

Whoa, Alan is 51? Wow. Solange is only 28. I bet Alan gives her a lot of stability? Probably. Anyway, I think Solange looked amazing in this Stephane Rolland jumpsuit and cape. It’s such an amazing choice for a weekend wedding. I wish more brides wore pants!!!

What else? The pre-wedding festivities included a private screening of Mahogany (starring Diana Ross). As I said, only Beyonce seemed to attend that – Jay and Blue were either not invited or Jay chose to go.

PS… I love the wedding bikes too!!! They didn’t do the limo thing.

She looks wonderful, and I love the jumpsuit, wedding dress, and bikes. Looks like she did things her way.

    • SK says:

Yeah, Solange is STYLISH! I love love love her style. I feel like Bey has actually taken a few style queues from her in the last year in terms of her casual wardrobe and it has been a vast improvement. Her better casual outfits seem to take a (more overtly sexy) page out of Solange’s style book. The clothes Tina used to put Bey in were awful and she has been very hit and miss since growing away from her mum as a stylist. Solange, however, has just grown into a Style Queen. Love it!

    • Mia V. says:

      Very beautiful!!!!

    • Charlotte says:

She looks so beautiful. And she looks like herself too. Too many brides go for outfits that they would never normally wear and spend all their time shifting uncomfortably and feeling awkward.

    • Pix says:

I can get on board with the bikes and jumpsuit – hipster, cool, original.
The Vogue photos are strange. The photos of everyone standing far apart looking dead-eyed are very odd. I don’t know how to process them b/c none of it screams or even whispers happy and in-love.

    • Moneypenny says:

She is fabulous and has a wonderful sense of style.

The bikes remind me of the ghost bikes people leave as memorials to cyclists who were killed on the road. Other than that, loved the look of everything.

  2. Mzizkrizten says:

The bikes are interesting. Gives the whole thing a hipster music video feel.

    • sally says:

I have to say I think the whole thing looks so orchestrated and twee and beyond annoying. First of all, jumpsuit, blah whatever. It’s cute but not for a wedding. Next, the bikes. Really? It’s insulting to have a bike. Where are they riding to, the million dollar reception? It’s so “look at me I’m a fashion girl. Look at me I’m so hipster.”

      • Bob Loblaw says:

I don’t get it either, they’re pushing them and seem disconnected from them, nothing says let’s go for a ride or we just took a ride, it seems orchestrated and artificial and out of character, when has she been on a bike?

  3. mimif says:

I kind of feel like Solange is the fierce that Sasha wants to be.

P.S. She looks so bad ass here, I’m almost intimated, and I don’t even have Satanic powers like GoodNames.

  4. Zandy says:

Amazing 😍🎉🎈. Congrats to Solange 🎂

  5. L says:

I thought I saw pictures on another site of blue there. Not front and center but getting carried in.

I like the pantsuit-not a fan of that much boob at a wedding. I preferred her wedding dress-so awesome and I love the cape!

  6. whatsmyname? says:

I’m obsessed with her wedding gown, the hair, the lip everythiiiing.
And I can’t believe Alan is 51 SERIOUSLY.

  7. Ag says:

She looks amazing. Everything about her wedding seems hyper-hipster.

But I still think she’s trashy as hell for having attacked Jay.

  8. QQ says:

THIS IS ALL I WANNA TALK ABOUT TODAY!!

Folks, Solange won at “Wedding” (im NOT even gonna shade her or her sister about their clear daddy issues or ask how pissed Matthew is right now that his ex-wife is snatched to death and taking trips to france and shit…I am however wanting up to discuss:

    HOW FANTASTIC was that Jumpsuit!!?!?

How FANTASTIC AND SPARE AND EVERYTHING. WAS HER DRESS

    Bridal CAPES?!?

    Bridal Bikes?!?

The UNSUGARINESS OF THOSE PICS (LOVE!) it was like the real american horror story : Coven (someone in twitter that they were sacrificing Kardashians LOL!) meets the most Opulent Chess Board set

The fact his gold tips on his shoes Matched her Sole Adornment Those gold Wonder Woman Bangles

She Made Beysus Sit Down touching The cape!!

Im only sad Im poor and my parents cursed me with good taste and Now I want that wedding and my boyfriend, bless his soul is tacky and keeps trying to act like we are gonna have a star wars something if we marry which is in fact NOT f*cking happening

    • mimif says:

Dude but you would make the fiercest C-3PO, QQ. Bf from Narnia can play….shit, is he Luke Skywalker?

      • QQ says:

        NO

I sincerely HATED those movies…is a miracle I stayed awake through em…now cause of him Lupita and Gwendolyn I have to eat the next one

      • j.eyre says:

There are plenty of opportunities for capes in a Star Wars Wedding. mimif is right, keep it old school and this could really have something for everyone (liking the Narnia tie-in, btw.)

How do you feel about helmets?

      • QQ says:

NO! you guyses arent talking me into this idea! Is he paying you?? how Much?!?!

      • mia girl says:

QQ – hate to tell you but your screen initials kinda look like Princess Leah’s two head buns… you might be more into this than you think.

I now pronounce you Jedi and Jedi.

      • mimif says:

Lmao mia girl. How bout Spaceballs? But QQ stick with Prince Valium (he has better drugs).

      • j.eyre says:

Not only does your sobriquet look like the fierce princess’s iconic hairstyle but when pronounced, it sounds like an X-Wing fighters guns when fired.

Oh! Ewoks could serve as ring bearers!

I think the real question is, on which planet were you thinking to set as the backdrop? Hoth is nice and bridal white – something to consider? Although the double moons of Tatooine is a sweet metaphor for a wedding, I feel. We don’t need to discuss the band, do we – that one is a given?

      • QQ says:

CAN’T WE NOT?!?!? Ok Let’s NOT

    • whipmyhair says:

My favourite weddings are those where the couple say screw tradition; we’ll do what we want.

It makes the wedding a reflection of the couple and their relationship. Taking the traditions they like and throwing away those they don’t? If I ever make a trip down the isle that’s what I’ll be doing.

    • Camille (The Original) says:

It was minimalism on point. Love it.

    • Alarmjaguar says:

      It is indeed FANTASTIC!

      • QQ says:

i also like somehow that it wasn’t ULTRA PURE WHITE?!?! is a lot more muted and soft, I also LOVE is not lacy/glittery none of that , it feels just like some heavy fabric

    • Ange says:

I dunno, it was star wars meets cult leader for me…..

  9. Jessica says:

Eh, pants are fine, but I don’t like that much cleavage in a wedding look even if it’s pre-wedding festivities.

  10. silken_floss says:

Love her wedding dress.. so simple and elegant. It reminded me of the gown Lady Galadriel wear in LOTR and The Hobbit movies lol

    • Godwina says:

It reminded me of the best 70s cinema ever. I am in love with her whole look there.

      • Chris2 says:

Yeah! I’m stunned in admiration, so chic yet downplayed. Best wedding look for my taste since the (always cited) Bianca.
Solange’s magnificent hair! And I love the sensibility about the cool vibe….no unnecessary bling or heels. Yowza.
Edit: missed link to Vogue/dress. It didn’t disappoint! Wow. So beautifully simple.

  11. mkyarwood says:

Gorgeous. Love those gold tips, too.

  12. Loopy says:

Wow are weddings in NOLA always this festive, I have seen a few where the weeding party are walking the streets with a band playing trumpets and horns etc So cool!

    • Cait says:

Well, some of them are. You’re referring to what’s called a second line, in which a brass band leads a wedding party (or a funeral).

We second lined at our Uptown wedding, but you have to remember – NOLA is much more than the French Quarter/Marigny/Bywater. 🙂

Weddings here tend to be pretty reflective of how long you’ve lived here and where in the city you live. Come from a big old Catholic family? You’re getting married at St. Louis or your parish church, and second lining in the Quarter. Post-K transplant living in the Bywater or Treme? Probably something less traditional and a little more funky.

That’s what is utterly amazing about weddings and funerals here: the spectacle is like nowhere else.

  13. Godwina says:

Wow, that is a very well-preserved 51-year-old man. Good for him. And her.

Her caped wedding dress at Vogue, on her, is amazing. That is all.

  14. Size Does Matter says:

It’s the return of the Cream Avenger: Bridal Edition! But somehow this works better than Portia di Rossi’s itty-bitty bow / flying squirrel look from a few weeks ago.

  15. capepopsie says:

    I like the roses. . .

  16. Kaylah says:

She wore 3 cape outfits and I’m so here for each and every one of them. This cream jumpsuit, the Kenzo dress and the white one after were everything! The last one was rife with wardrobe malfunctions but she rocked the heck out of it.
Beyonce looked nice. Blue Ivy is my baby in my head and she looked so freaking adorable. Her afro was everything. Jay looked really good as well but their mom was the queen. She came with her boyfriend and she killed it.

  17. ds says:

I really love her music; especially True, and I love her style. Both of these looks are amazing; love her hair, the dress, the cape… everything. Brilliant looking wedding; minimal but stylish. It’s all about the details. I can’t believe he is 51! He looks amazing for his age. I have a friend his age also looks so much younger. I don’t know what their secret is. Genes? Congrats to both.

  18. aang says:

Wow. She comes across as so much cooler and much less try hard than her sister. Love the whole look.

    • FingerBinger says:

Solange is cooler. She’s a granola eating, Afro having, backpack wearing kind of chick. Beyonce thinks she’s too good for that.

      • AlmondJoy says:

Idk, Finger. Not sure that Beyonce thinks she’s too good, she just has a completely different style than her sister. And there’s nothing wrong with that. My sister and I also have totally different styles.

    • GingerCrunch says:

My sentiments, exactly! Beyoncé looks like a total try-hard in comparison. Some people make it look effortless.

  19. Icarus says:

I love how instead of following what we call traditional, she made it her own.

  20. serena says:

I like the dress and jumpsuit but I think it wasn’t right for a wedding. Plus those photos all in white seemed taken out of Bey’s tumblr (maybe she lent her personal photographer to Solange? lol). I don’t know, nowadays it seems everything this family does is staged and attention-seeking.

  21. Kitten says:

Say what you want about her but this woman has style for miles.
    Love the bikes.

  22. gritsngreens says:

She looks fantastic. He is very handsome. What a great looking couple.
I like that it wasn’t a superbowl type event.
That being said, does his bike have a flat tire, or do I need to clean my screen?

  23. Duckie says:

I’m loving everything about this wedding! so stylish, classic yet different which is the vibe Solange always give me. How cute is that the celebrations started with the movie of their first date?? Solange has won in life.

  24. DavidBowie says:

Wow. I love the jumpsuit and the gown. The groom is 51?!?! He sure doesn’t look it. And he is sexy…hubba hubba.

  25. Megan says:

her wedding dress is amazing. Very unusual, but so elegant.

  26. Lucy says:

She looks absolutely fabulous. The gown is to die for. Love pretty much everything about this wedding. And there’s no way IN HELL her husband is 51!!!

  27. INeedANap says:

I love that the picture in Vogue has them all looking serious, except my girl Janelle Monae! You tell those Knowles sisters you’re here to party, rock on. 🙂

  28. Jayna says:

She looks beautiful. I loved Beyonce’s look at the wedding also.

  29. AlmondJoy says:

Fro: Picked out to perfEction 💁
    Body: On point!
    Husband: Oh so fine 😍
    Smiles: Ear to ear

    I approve this wedding! 👍

  30. **sighs** says:

I bet they have a whole lot of hair in the shower drain.

  31. LAK says:

This girl has so much style. I wish she’d concentrate on being a fashion guru.

Let’s start a campaign to get her to editor of Vogue.

  32. Twinkle says:

Solange has a great sense of style. Better than her sister.

  33. nicegirl says:

her wedding style is TOO LEGIT

    I love this!

  34. kri says:

They look gorgeous and chill!! Also, I am in love with is shoes. I want them. I’m serious.

  35. The New Classic says:

Is it me or does she look hella old for being 28? I’m 29 and I hope I don’t look that aged.

  36. amp122076 says:

Sorry, the whole thing looks pretentious and affected.

  37. bellenola says:

Big ol bikes are totally a French Quarter thing, I get it because it’s such a pain to park a car around there, but in the summer, no thanks! I hate to be sweaty when I get where I’m going.

And the Marigny Opera House is simply gorge. Solange is clearly the queen of the hipsters today. 😉

    • Cait says:

      Right? It’s SO gorgeous.

But a tad NOLA hipster, yes? It’s up there with the vegan Bywater wedding I attended recently at the Old Ironworks. 🙂

  38. Alexis says:

    I love it!

  39. Kim1 says:

I love the pics of the party after the wedding @dailymail.Everybody looks so happy.Miss Tina looks fierce

  40. Brionne says:

Solange style is really evident in this wedding. Was daddy Matthew there? Did he see how HAWT Ms. Tina looked with her handsome boyfriend in tow? Yessss!!! Mama Tina! Werk!

    • MelissaManifesto says:

      Hehehe

I didn’t see a picture of him and the press didn’t report it either, although that doesn’t mean he wasn’t here. But if I wasn’t, that would be such a shame.

  41. MelissaManifesto says:

I love her dress and jumpsuit. Solange is very stylish. I hate that Vogue had to mention her first wedding and threw a very subtle shade that was probably meant as a compliment.

  42. TOPgirl says:

They look really nice together. I love their outfits and the theme. Very oldies.

  43. Venuslotus says:

She looked amazing. I can’t believe her husband is 51 also. What a great looking couple.

  44. word says:

These two are both so stylish. Does Solange have a style blog? If not, she needs to get one. Music may not be her thing (though I do think she’s talented but not widely popular), fashion is her thing and she should be making money doing that.

P.S. how upset is Kanye that this wedding was 100000 times for stylish than his !

  45. Santia says:

By the way, Jay Z WAS there. Just not in the pictures, which was all the women (except for the groom).

  46. Sofia says:

She is usually so stylish and you can see that she does have a creative point of view about what she wears. We may like it or not, but she is original and totally owns it, whatever she wears. (Or does she have a stylist?)

I could totally see her doing something in the fashion world and getting a name for it instead of the “Bey’s sister who is sort of a Dj”.

  47. maddelina says:

I love her hair! She’s gorgeous.

  48. junebug says:

Those bikes are a really bad spray job, and the groom’s tire front tire is completely flat. You couldn’t ride that bike. It looks absolutely embarassingly bad.

You know that there are white bikes out there, that every bit you need to build a bike comes in white (if you have some money) and they chose to have their bikes spray-painted so badly that some got underneath the handles and saddle? I find it just so sad that nobody thought of taking the handlebar of first, you know?!

To all the people raving about them looking incredible. Study the photos. They arrived with unridable bikes that were there as just a sad-looking, unprepared gimmick. Why would you want to have that in your wedding???

    • me says:

Maybe Solange’s son spray painted those bikes as a project or for fun? I still think it was a cute idea.

  49. Mira says:

“I bet Alan gives her a lot of stability?” = “Daddy issues. Everyone, Solange has daddy issues.”

She looks magnificent. Truly unforgettable. And I want his dermatologist.

    • LAK says:

I so appreciative of her style that i’ve momentarily set aside my judgy ‘daddy issues’ side eye because honestly 28 vs 51??????

….but Solange is rocking the fashion and oddly physically and sartorially resembles my mother!!!

  50. Veronica says:

The age difference grosses me out a bit, but I guess in fairness, I’d have never have guessed he was that old, either. She looks fantastic, though, and I say that as somebody who is not a fan of jumpsuits. The hair and makeup just add the right amount of flair to the whole outfit. Solange may be the less famous sibling, but her fashion is several steps above her sister.

  51. kitty-bye says:

I can’t believe he had to ride on a flat tire?

  52. alex says:

BEAUUUUUTIFUL. Now THIS is a unique wedding. I love Solange and her look, she reminds me of the Black Panther activists of the 70’s looking powerful and effortless.

Beauty definitely runs in that family, am I the only only who find Tina gorgeous as well?

  53. Anony says:

Am I the only one that didn’t like these outfits? It really bugs me how in the first pic, his shirt, his suit and her outfit are all different non-matching, non-complementing shades of white.

I also thought ther gown for the actual wedding was way to boring. *Shrug* looks like I”m alone on these thoughts though.

I thought the bikes were cute actually. Disapointed they didn’t actually ride them ha ha

  54. Lisa Moore says:

Solange and her groom looked amazing. Their wedding was like a scene out of a 70’s movie. I loved it!!! Solange since of fashion is untouchable, unique in its on right. A true fashion icon I must say.
