Tom Hiddleston nominated for an Evening Standard Award: will he show up?

wenn5790080

Yay, Tom Hiddleston news. These are photos of Tommy Hiddleston at the London Evening Standard Awards in 2012 and 2013. I have every reason to believe he’ll attend this year’s ceremony on November 30th because this year, Tommy was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Coriolanus at the Donmar Warehouse earlier this year. I’m not incredibly familiar with the levels of awesomeness for British theater awards and how they would compare to American theater awards, but from what I gather, the Evening Standard Awards are lower than the Oliviers but still relatively prestigious.

Tom Hiddleston has been nominated for the best actor prize at Britain’s Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his role in William Shakespeare’s tragedy Coriolanus. The Thor actor starred as the titular Roman leader in the production at the Donmar Warehouse in London in December (13) and he has now landed a top nod for the part.

He will compete against Zero Dark Thirty actor Mark Strong, who is nominated for his role in Arthur Miller’s play A View from the Bridge, and V for Vendetta actor Ben Miles, who starred in Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies – a double bill stage adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s two novels.

Gillian Anderson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Harry Potter star Helen MCCrory and singer-turned-actress Billie Piper will battle it out for the best actress prize.

Billy Elliott film maker Stephen Daldry is nominated for best direction for Skylight, and Sunny Afternoon, the new production telling the story of The Kinks, is in the running for best musical. The winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted by comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon at the London Palladium on 30 November (14).

So, will Hiddleston show up? Will I Saw the Light be finished by then? It’s such a small film, I kind of assumed that the film schedule would be pretty tight. I think if Hiddles is still filming in Louisiana, he probably won’t fly to London just for this theater awards show. But if he’s done… maybe. That’s the Sunday after Thanksgiving too. Will Tommy still be in America for Thanksgiving?! He can come to my mom’s house if he wants to eat some turkey, Virginia ham, made-from-scratch mashed potatoes and some Southern-style corn. Damn… now I kind of want Tommy to come over for Thanksgiving and play with my mom’s cats. I bet that would be adorable.

Wow, Hiddles is getting his own thread now?

    • KT says:

Yay Hiddles. Hopefully he does go and we have some new tuxedo pics to drool over!

On an unrelated note, how else do you make mashed potatoes if not from scratch?

      • Grace says:

I don’t eat mashed potatoes but I think they sell the powdered mix in supermarkets. Add hot water, there you go kind of thing.

      • Lilacflowers says:

They sell pre-mashed ones and frozen ones in supermarkets too.

      • Lindy79 says:

how else do you make mashed potatoes if not from scratch?

As an Irish person, I am seeing the words in order but…yet they do not make sense. What is this trickery?

      • Allegra says:

I tried once , it does not taste like mashed potatoes at all.
I went back to the old fashioned way.

      • joe spider says:

Haha, that one made me laugh, and reminded me of the Cadbury’s smash adverts ages ago:-

      • Cecilia says:

        You don’t.

I remember years ago going to my future sister-in-law’s for Thanksgiving. I’d met my future father-in-law before I met her and he’d said oh “Chrissy” (not her real name) is a gourmet cook. Well, she served instant mashed potatoes. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.

On the other hand my son makes the best garlic, gruyere, mashed potatoes they are to die for (with real actual potatoes). Can’t wait for next Thursday.

  2. Lilacflowers says:

A Tom thread! Tom news! Break out the champagne! I do hope he makes the trip and we get more perfect tuxedo pictures and more pictures of the perfect tuxedo going to Five Guys. He did make the trip for the Oliviers during the middle of Crimson Peak. It would also depend on whether his ISTL contract has a provision for it.

    • Grace says:

Champagne? I demand a good single malt! In the meantime, *hugs* to you lilac!

      • Lilacflowers says:

A selection of single malts is available over on the sideboard. Colin sees to everything.

      • Amelia says:

        Any mojitos?
I can’t take alcohol without a fruity influence at the moment for some reason.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Amelia, it is a full bar for the Hiddleston thread and Colin will mix happily mix whatever you like. However, he has decided that the thread for that other guy is self-serve. He just can’t take it any more.

      • Grace says:

Thank you, Lilac! In return I offer you Maryland Gooeys. Yumyumyum!

      • Amelia says:

In which case, I shall be skulking around Colin, his mixers and all things dragonfly. This looks like it’s going to be a far more genteel thread, free of conspiracy theories.
Until I have one too many mojitos . . .

      • **sighs** says:

I need fruity mixed drinks today, Colin!

    • Abby_J says:

It is so refreshing to have a Tommy thread. We need one every day. It would keep our dear Colin busy, but he seems to like it.

I hope he shows up for the awards. We need some new pictures.

  3. Sixer says:

Yes: Evening Standard Awards are prominent. I think Tommy will go but I also think the Wolf Hall productions have enough momentum (that whole dual thing is playing very well) for Ben Miles to be the shoe-in for the win.

    • Lilacflowers says:

They have been staged more recently, haven’t they? Sometimes being fresh in the mind is a factor too. Although that doesn’t seem to have helped Simon Russel Beale this go-round.

    • Sixer says:

Yep. I think all the momentum has to be for Miles.

    • t.fanty says:

You think? The general consensus is that Mark Strong’s performance is flawless, and he’s a bit more of a name.

(Getting SO excited to see WH, btw. I think I’m going to do a double bill and bang it out in one day)

    • Sixer says:

I think all the “non-luvvie” attention is on Wolf Hall, you know? And for the middle brow awards, such as these, I think that’s where the prizes will go. I’m always up for being wrong, however! And, let’s face it, with the Oliviers having gone tabloid, who knows?! I only saw WH, btw. But I have made big efforts to see stuff this year.

  4. Lilacflowers says:

We are also toasting Tom’s “Good to be Bad” co-star Mark Strong for his nomination.

    • icerose says:

Just a shame Colin and Sean were not included and I guess Cillian Murphy did not do it for them either.I do think we need a absent and ignored party as well.

  5. Sorry Kaiser, he won’t be making it to your place for Thanksgiving because he wil be up in the Highlands at my place sitting in front of the fire and sipping single malt. Wearing a smoking jacket and an ascot (Might as well make the most of that Etonian accent).

  6. Lilacflowers says:

In additional ISTL news, Rodney Crowell has been cast as Hank Williams’s father. Presumably it will be a small role because the father wasn’t around much but it is nice that Rodney gets to be in the movie after all the work he has done.

Cherry Jones, who has won a fair share of theater awards in her own career, is playing Hank’s mother.

    • Intro Outro says:

Awww, a Hiddles thread! I do need some sunshine on this gloomy evening ^_^

@Lilac, and the most recent pic of Tommy in character is nice, too, isn’t it?

    • M.A.F. says:

      That is awesome news.

    • Allegra says:

The cast and crew are working hard, but you can tell they’re having a great time.
And this is from Tammy Henderson:
“Another day on set of #ISawTheLight, another day of being blown away.”
“Not only is Tom perfect for this role, you can tell he is having a BLAST performing. He was all energy and smiles. Special.”

      • Maria says:

Good for him: he’s capturing the charisma that was Hank Williams, the man whom Bob Hope swore not to follow on stage ever again.

    • 'P'enny says:

I was really impressed with Cherry Jones in 24, I remember watching her and thinking she’s a bit good for this. :-p

      • Lilacflowers says:

‘P’enny, she has done lots and lots of theater work. I think she may have one or two Tony awards. She has done lots of work in the Boston area at Amercan Repertory Theater. She’s a force. And she has done Shakespeare so lots to chat about with Tom.

    • icerose says:

Dad disappeared when Hank was a wee boy so yes it is a very small part unless he came back to haunt him in later life.

    • What I find especially cool about Crowell being cast as Hank’s dad is that there has been this vaguely father/son chemistry between the two of them since at least Wheatland (IMO.). As Rodney has only daughters, perhaps he is enjoying a temporary son to mentor. (And why the daughters might be eager to embrace a brother!)

  7. Catherine says:

I Saw The Light is shooting til mid December apparently so doubtful he’ll be there.

    • Lilacflowers says:

He did get time off during Crimson Peak filming for the Oliviers. Some actors have leave time for potential awards written into their film contracts. The ceremony is also Thanksgiving weekend, so he may have a short break then any way. The problem might be if he doesn’t already have flights booked and if there are no direct flights to London from whichever airport he is near. Connecting flights in and out of US airports for that weekend are nearly impossible to book now.

      • MissMary says:

He’d have to fly out of NOLA at minimum, possibly NOLA to Houston (nearest major hub with a direct flight to London Heathrow). If he’s planning on going, he’s either going to spend big on tickets right now, or had to have planned well in advance, just in case. (Swear I’m not stalky lol–I lived in Louisiana for years and live in SE Texas now so have a sadly intimate knowledge of the airports and airlines and where they go out of those places).

      • Lilacflowers says:

MissMary, I don’t think air fare would be an issue for Thomas. Getting a flight to and from a hub airport would be. And if the trains in the south are anything like Amtrak’s northeast corridor, all trains that weekend to major cities would have been booked since early October.

      • MissMary says:

There’s really no train system to speak of, at least in the part of the South he’s in. He’d need a driver or hop on the bus.

      • Isadora says:

I’m not sure if I should hope that he attends or not. Because… pictures. Tux. Voice. Yum. But on the other hand it sounds super stressful. It seems he is working really hard on ISTL and then all the transatlantic flights… It’s a bit much for poor Tommy boy.

      • Josa says:

For Olivier, he has a month and a half to get Crimson Peak to adjust the schedule if adjustment is needed to get him free to travel back for that monday. This one he has 10 days notice to ask for that monday off, and arrange travelling at the busiest traveling week of the entire year. I don’t know if he can make it even if he wants to.

      • Dara says:

Hmm – so the boss told me this morning he has to do a London-Paris-Rome blitzkrieg in January and I’ve spent the morning buried in transatlantic flight schedules. In the interest of calculating odds for the wager I have with ‘P’enny, at one point I may have “accidentally” selected November dates instead of the actual ones and then “accidentally” selected the wrong outbound airport. All of that to say I found a lovely set of flights for TH that have seats available in First Class (price isn’t bad either, all things considered). Not stalking – just doing my part to facilitate a Tuxedo Tom sighting before the end of the year.

*Dear Tom, do have your cracker-jack assistant give me a ring if they need flight numbers, etc.* Oh, and the connecting airport has a restaurant in the international terminal that does a killer burger.

  8. ncboudicca says:

I’m just here to give my precious Dancing Bear his own clicks and comments…tired of that other guy at the moment.

    • j.eyre says:

Then I shall join you, my dear. Not that Tommy needs the help, but for the love of Dragonflydom.

    • Diana B says:

I’m in too!!! Tommy for eva!!!!

    • j.eyre says:

Alright, bouddi – you have us all here, what shall you have us do (walking away from the obvious)?

      • ncboudicca says:

OK, Jane, so the agenda goes like this: Our prince says that we should gather around the garden pond at dusk, and as the fairly lights glow, he will declaim Shakespeare from a row boat.
        …………………………………
Then we all jump into the pond and swim like crazy. First one to the boat gets Tommy behind the garden shed, with the choice of a paddle or a tickler. I can’t find the ball gag or handcuffs, so I think Sixer didn’t return them to the utility closet after she last used them.

Clearly I hadn’t really thought this out. I’m terrible at party-planning!

      • Lilacflowers says:

Ahem, the ball gag is firmly in the mouth of Idris Elba and it is not to be removed. Bad things happen!

      • icerose says:

@ncboudicca Can we have a the choice of using paddle and tickler alternately and I certainly do not plan to use the ball gag as I want to hear every he he he and wimper.

    • MountainRunner says:

Yes, click, click, click and cue the dragonfly sounds… *pffftpffftpffftpffftpffftpffft*

I’ve broken camp and left SourBatch’s front lawn and moving back to where the grass is green, the flowers are in bloom, birds are singing and sun is shining bright. Looking now for Colin in hopes of something sparkly and fruity…

      • Dara says:

@MountainRunner – I ventured over to the latest BC thread just to see what was shaking (it’s at 800+ comments and still going strong) and I have scurried back over here. I am waaayy too chicken to venture very far into that swirling vortex of I-don’t-know-what.

Now where is that darling Colin?

      • MountainRunner says:

@Dara, it’s a frickin’ war zone over there. I had to move out of the neighborhood for fear of getting caught in the crossfire.

    • M.A.F. says:

Yes. Let’s enjoy the sanity before it gets crazy here too. Just think, this time next year we *might* be wishing we could stop the dancing bear train.

      • joe spider says:

I doubt if Tom will repeat the dancing bear scenario in future years to be honest.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I think the dancing bear goes with Loki and lighter fare. More serious but still charming, Shakespeare spouting Tom appears for other work.

      • M.A.F. says:

I will take the Shakespeare loving Tom over the dancing bear any day. And you ladies maybe right, he only busted that out for Loki.

  9. Ratherbeme says:

I hope he hangs around Shreveport instead as we are doing Thanksgiving with family just 30 miles away and this will be my only chance! – she said in a hopefully non-crazed way

    • Lilacflowers says:

      Not crazed at all. Mimosa?

    • Abby_J says:

So if you just happen to show up at all the filming sites because. “OOPS! You had no IDEA that they’d be filming!” We will know that you aren’t crazed. 🙂 Really. Just take lots of pictures. 🙂 Not because we are crazy enough to want to see them, of course.

      • Ratherbeme says:

Deal. I’m already practicing my “oh my, a movie? How interesting!” when the time comes.

      • Abby_J says:

Also, you should practice saying, “Ohhh! I do recognize you! Weren’t you in Jane Austin Regrets? ” Or you could go with Wallander. Then add, “Well, while I am here, may I get a picture? ” He’ll NEVER suspect a thing. 🙂

  10. Ellen says:

Filming finishes sometime in December I’ve read on twitter. I think it will depend on the filming schedule if he would come or not.

Do you think that Rodney will have Hiddles over for thanks giving? That would be even better plus we might get to see some photos

  11. TTMuch says:

    Fingers crossed!!

  12. 'P'enny says:

I think he wont go 🙁

    Dear Hiddles,

If youre reading this, as we know you’re a secret lemonade reader. Please come out and wear your Alexander McQueen with dark hair, just for us. We are all missing your fun charm and were all being drowned in to much Benedict snark that we are all as miserable as Sophie Hunter looks.

    Much love xxx

p.s there is a queue of CB secret wives waiting for you here [and Mark Strong, Sean Bean and others ] and Sixer is on the reserve list, as she is hogging Cillian from me.

    • Ellen says:

@’p’enny apart from Fassy because he’s mine.
Have you noticed Hiddles always wears the grey suit with the red tie to the evening standard awards? Is it his special suit I wonder. Is one of Rodney’s daughters single?

      • 'P'enny says:

        Ellen, rumours… Lol

Chelsea I think is the one that is single, Hannah is married and I can’t remember the other one. Think there are three of them. I think Hiddles would be a very brave man indeed to have a fling with Rodney and Roseanne Cash’s daughter under their very nose. LOL. Although Hannah did laugh on that instragram pic wondering if he is now her brother. LOL http://instagram.com/p/vgz-aAMw-t/ check our Rosanne Cash’s reply AKA mrslev.

      • Lilacflowers says:

That is a really nice picture. Roseanne was here last week

      • icerose says:

How old is Hannah or Chelsea which ever is single .You never know we could be having a Cowell/ Hiddleston wedding. Now that would be something. Eton boy marries into country royalty. That would be one shindig and worth a film script.

      • TotallyBiased says:

        @icerose
Chelsea Crowell is 32. Hmm. Y’know, that really WOULD be a heck of a shindig. Two tons of fun, with music, whisky, and beer for days.
Now THAT’s an engagement I could get behind, real or not!

      • Isadora says:

Fassy? Yours? *preparing my shanks* I wouldn’t be so sure about that…

      • Lilacflowers says:

@icerose, Eton boy married Cash granddaughter? What is Nick Lowe’s background? Carter/Cashs have married Brits before.

      • icerose says:

@TotallyBiased Yes Eton boy in cowboy boots meets country and western girl is way more fun and captivating than posh bot actor meets posh dilettante I floral dress.
Ant Tom is 38 -the age works

      • @icerose
You mean Tom isn’t 38, right? That’s BC’s age–Tom will be 34 in February. Great age match!

      • icerose says:

        @Totally Biased Even better, i thought Benny was 40-he certainly looks it lately;

@Lilac flowers He went to an independent school in Suffolk which does not have quite the same ring as Eton and he probably does not have the same connections, But yes he married and divorced a Carter but with Rodney you get that real white trash element as he has put it himself so it would be a a real mix up of backgrounds especially if you throw Tom’s granddad into the loop .Love it when families diversify.

      • icerose says:

He was nominated for an Evening Standard BEST ACTOR FILM award for Archipelago.

    • Lilacflowers says:

And we’ll all go with you to Five Guys after the ceremony!

      • Grace says:

YAY! I hear they have nice burgers.

      • Ellen says:

Well that’s sorted then if Liliac is unavailable then we hook Hiddles up with Hannah. Hannah sounds lovely and normal and she smiles plus Hiddles is already like family.

Our boy won’t be in the same scenes as Rodney as Hank’s dad left the family when Hank was still a little boy

      • **sighs** says:

Five Guys is overrated. Do they have Red Robin in Engerland?

      • Grace says:

        @ sighs
I’ve never heard of Red Robin. Is it burger place too? And Five Guys used to get massive long queues outside when they first opened in Covent Garden. Don’t know if it’s still the case.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@sighs, but we know he likes Five Guys. He went there after the Oliviers in that perfect tux.

      • **sighs** says:

He only likes 5 Guys because he hasn’t been to Red Robin. Yes, it’s a burger joint. All kinds of burgers. Guacamole burgers, teriyaki burgers.. My fav has a fried egg on it. Sounds gross but it’s so so good.
I sound like a walking billboard.

      • Josa says:

My boy thinks Five Guys is better than In-N-Out. I like their fries better than the burger. I can’t decide, do I want to see Tom in tux eating at Five Guys or in his cowboy hat taking selfie with Rodney in front of a roasted Turkey? Tough choice.

      • MountainRunner says:

Red Robin is a Denver-based chain and I concur that their burgers are better than Five Guys. If I was entertaining HIddles however, I would take him to Larkburger or Crave for the best burgers in the Rockies.

      • TotallyBiased says:

        @Lilacflowers
Hannah is married with kids–it’ll have to be (singer-songwriter) Chelsea or younger sister Caitlin (Carrie is also married.) Do I know too much about this family now?

      • Isadora says:

I live in burger-free land it seems. 😀 I’ve never heard of any of those burger restaurants. I think we have here… McDonalds and Burger King. That’s it. *lol*

      • Lilacflowers says:

When my darling husband comes to Boston, we will be skipping chain restaurants for burgers entirely. Four Seasons Hotel burger here we come!

      • icerose says:

@Totally Biased If Tom is going to join the Crowell clan we need to have all the information at out fingertips. Favourite family dishes, restaurants ,takeaways, holiday locations and family politics.

    • **sighs** says:

I’m afraid I’m so far down on the queue….:(
No worries. Im an equal opportunity secret wife, and shall go wherever there is availability.
Wow. That makes me sound so easy.

    • icerose says:

      and Harry Lloyd is mine,

      • **sighs** says:

Thanks for the heads up, Icerose. I think I’m currently on a Dean O’Gorman bender. Luvs me some dimples.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Not if my 85 year old aunt has anything to say about it! She loudly claimed him Sarurday in a sold-out movie theater.

      • icerose says:

@Lilacflowers I am still peeved that I have not received some confirmation to borrow Tom on New Years Eve.I shall treat him with respect. There wil be no paddles or ticklers just the occasional nipple twists and have him home early next morning

  13. FW says:

I have the feeling that ES gave him the nomination for better publicity but the awards will eventually go to miles.

so let’s not make all the way back to London. instead, stay in the states; maybe a thanksgiving at Rodney crowell’s and Rodney’s daughters can take lovely pics ^_^

    • Lilacflowers says:

If that were the case, Jude Law would be in the list for Henry V.

    • icerose says:

@FW I am not sure id it was just for publicity why not include Richard Armitage or Bill Nighy as there is a definite shortage of actor nominees, The panel is made up of newspaper critics who would have seen all the performances and most of them gave Tom a brilliant review

    • icerose says:

Jude Law may have fallen into 2013 -I think it depends on when you opened the run and what percentage of performances were in each year but I will check on it

  14. Allegra says:

    Cast rumors:
“…The report mentions that Robert Downey Jr is allegedly open to the idea of joining the Beetlejuice 2 cast with one condition, Tom Hiddleston has to join the Beetlejuice 2 cast with him.”

  15. jammypants says:

Hiddles news is happy news. Bless him.

Turns out, my coworker’s sister lives in a neighborhood where they filmed when they did the local news coverage. Sadly she wasn’t a fan and hated the noise. I wanted to be in her place right at that moment, only I live in New Orleans.

    • Allegra says:

I wanted to be in her place too.
You know some people do not realize how lucky they are. Maybe when the movie come out she realize that what she missed.

  16. St says:

I’m happy for Gillian Anderson who got nomination

  17. joe spider says:

BUT if Tom did turn up won’t his dinner suite be too big for him at the moment?

  18. et alors says:

Bringing over the first ISTL on-set picture of Tom that @jammypants posted in the other post as it may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Nice to see him actually wearing a hat correctly.

    http://instagram.com/p/vhQjUULcbz/

    • TotallyBiased says:

That person (who took the picture) may not be on set much longer!
A guy on FB has been posting updates of his time on set but CAREFULLY within the parameters of set rules.
As example, he posted this most recently:
“About to head back to the set of “I Saw The Light” starring Tom Hiddleston in a few minutes. Yesterday was fun. Tom was pumping up the crowd of over 400 background actors and stayed in character all night. Really inspiring actor. Wish more actors acted like he does on set.”
BUT there’s quite a conversation under this post, regarding the photo that should NOT have been taken:
“Long day on set yesterday, but fun. Had some idiot take a picture of Tom Hiddleston and posting it to instagram. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them patting us down today. Smh”
      Read the comments thread!

      • Dara says:

@Totally, I wondered when I saw the photo if it was contraband. And I think you are right – the person that snapped the photo did so on their last day on set – whether they realized it at the time or not. Buh-bye.

      • Allegra says:

        @ TotallyBiased and @ Dara:

I won´t lie because i really liked this new pic from Tom, but that person was really silly. Now they will fire her. Her fellow extras or actors posted pics, but nome of them took a pic with Tom as you can see here:

It looks like the woman who posted the pic (which her son shot) took it down. I guess the outraged Hiddlestoners scared her off. She must have also posted the full-length shot showing Tom’s boots as that’s floating around now.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@et slots, more likely the production company’s legal department

      • @et alors
I doubt it was outraged Hiddlestoners, as all her feedback was very positive.
Suspect it was her son telling her he had been threatened with legal action by the production (as that is in the contract extras sign when hired.)

      • Dara says:

@Totally – I love that Tom was a good host’ for those extras. There was a great interview with another actor where he talked about when he was No. 1 on the call sheet he felt responsible for making sure everyone else not only had what they needed to deliver a good performance but also had ‘fun at the office’. It warms my heart to see Tom following that example. If the main guy (who has a bigger job than anyone else) is full of positive energy, then there is no excuse for diva behavior from anyone.

      • Josa says:

There is a full length one with boots? Is it bad to say I want to see, even if we aren’t supposed to see it?

Here’s a replica, Hashtag Genius version,
        https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B2vXmtWCcAAtJle.jpg

      • jammypants says:

oh goodness that drawing is adorable

    • et alors says:

I really don’t think the production company would bother with one picture, especially as it’s all over the internet now. It would be kind of like trying to clean up an oil spill with a roll of paper towels. I *have* seen the more rabid fans policing the distribution of the picture, as if it does any good now.

  19. Dara says:

Awww, shucks… you guys really think he won’t go? And I was so looking forward to Tuxedo Tom.
‘P’enny, I haven’t forgotten our wager from earlier – how confident are you in your position? We could go double or nothing on Tom not only making it to the ceremony but then surprising everyone and winning the thing.

Granted, I think I’ve put my money on the long shot. Minimum 12-14 hour trip (and that’s being optimistic) with at least one connection, during the craziest travel weekend in the States. Although he could fly out Thursday morning – he’s English, what does he care of Pilgrims.

    • Lilacflowers says:

      The pilgrims were still English.

    • Catherine says:

It was originally an English protestant tradition but it didn’t take off as a holiday as it does in the US.

    • icerose says:

Small non televised awards -my bet is they probably tip people off.

      • Dara says:

Holy hell, I want so much for him to win for Coriolanus. I’m hoping your theory is correct and someone spots him arriving at Heathrow.

And it looks like the awards might be hitting the semi-big time. They’ve booked into a proper theatre (instead of a hotel ballroom).

    • 'P'enny says:

      yep, bet still on.

I don’t think he is going to show, unless he has wrapped filming. Coriolanus must be way back in his mind now. He’s moved on, a lot, since then and I think his priorities will be sleep more sleep and slapping Benedict with a wet kipper and saying WTF are you doing? At the end of the day Hiddles is probably the only one in his close circle of friends who has some idea of the fan-crazy pressure of Celebitchy is putting him he under. :-p

      • Grace says:

Oh no, grumpypants is contagious. We don’t wanna Tommy to get emo all over him. 🙂

      • Dara says:

Besides, I would imagine an Otter would enjoy being smacked by moist seafood and wouldn’t see it as a wake up call in the least. Hmmm, perhaps that explains the appeal of a certain someone….

  20. koko says:

I hope he makes it and secret gf, she who can not be named even by initials, arrives before him and walks the red carpet alone. Then a few weeks later, he announces via newspaper that they are engaged and sometime between SI and TNM, they marry and have loads of little “hiddles”.

Pure sarcasm….please do not sling arrows at koko.

    • Grace says:

@ koko, I see what you did there.

    • Dara says:

@koko – Isn’t that how everyone does it? A perfectly normal, some would say even sweetly traditional, way of doing things. You wait – it’s going to become a trend. Shoot, there is no sarcasm font on this keyboard…

    • Ellen says:

Then Hiddles would start acting erratically and stop smiling in front of cameras whilst being rude to fans

      • Grace says:

Oh no, I don’t want Hiddles to be a moody boy too!

      • Lilacflowers says:

We don’t ever want that. Let’s leave that behavior to other actors.

      • icerose says:

ok Hiddles must never get engaged if this is what happens to posh actors when they fall in love

      • Dara says:

@icerose – Eddie Redmayne managed just fine, isn’t he the poshiest of them all?

      • MountainRunner says:

Yes, if Hiddles turns into anything that resembles that other Posh actor as of late, I will be drinking all of the absinthe, y’all. He has been my ray of sunshine and I won’t be able to bear an about-face from him too.

@Icerose, I’m hopeful that we won’t be Keyser Sozed when Hiddles falls in love. I don’t think he has the anxiety issues that the other guy has…

      • icerose says:

@Dara true. Maybe it is just actors from 2nd place public schools and our Eton actors are just to well trained to give into red carpet stomping and privacy pitfalls. Eddie ,Dominic West ,Hugh Laurie ,Damian Lewis all seem to be able to manage thriving acting careers and loving wives although Dominic has had his moments.

      • Dara says:

My personal feeling is that most actor-ly folk are probably high-strung, insecure, neurotic perfectionists most of the time, it’s just that some are better able to compensate than others. Given the givens of their chosen profession (and the personality types that are attracted to it), I’m surprised when any of them can manage what passes for a ‘normal’ personal life.

Don’t get me wrong, I love ’em all – but I don’t understand what drives them to do what they do. I wouldn’t want to be one or be in a relationship with one.

  21. Grace says:

People, let’s show Hiddles some love. This is the first time he got his own thread after 7 days, the last one a clickbait nevertheless. We all missed him. So let’s converse! I will start: ‘I will be your Jameson if you be my Chivas Regal…’ *hides*

    • Dara says:

@Grace – that was my thought exactly! I can’t believe this thread hasn’t cracked 100 comments yet – what is this wacky world coming to?

      • Grace says:

IKR, haven’t we been hijacking another actor’s threads to talk about Tom? Now we can do it properly in his thread! Let’s talk about the curls, let’s talk about the hands, let’s talk about the lip biting, let’s talk about the mouth licking, let’s talk about Loki, let’s talk about Adam, let’s talk about him talking about Shakespeare!

      • Dara says:

Or the dripping-with-honey southern accent? Thank you darlin’, I do believe I’ll have another Bulleit bourbon on the rocks, so kind of you to offer.

      • Grace says:

Mmmm, now I can’t decide whether I wanna listen to him read ‘Kingdom of earth’ again or ‘May I feel said he’ – such tough choices. Or I just listen to both.

      • MountainRunner says:

I’ve been taking a slow IV drip of Hal the Machiavellian Prince the past few days and I am impressed with how user-friendly TH makes archaic Shakespearean lines. I found I didn’t have to listen as “hard” to get the gist of what he was saying.

I wish I could have seen Coriolanus, esp with his nomination. Do these plays ever get broadcast / sold outside of NTL live?

      • TotallyBiased says:

        @MountainRunner
Unfortunately, no. They have a principle regarding live theatre only seen in a theatre with an audience sharing your experience. And no pausing to go get another mimosa or absinthe!!
That said, it was an astonishing experience to watch Coriolanus here in the States.
We can only hope that, like ‘the other guy’s’ Frankenstein, it comes around again as an encore. I would see it again and again!

      • joe spider says:

        @MoountainRunner

“Do these plays ever get broadcast / sold outside of NTL live?”

        Not legally I’m afraid.

      • TotallyBiased says:

        @Grace
        BOTH! Both is good. 😀

      • Grace says:

Watch ‘Muse of Fire’ his two interviews – I know I’ve gone on about this. But man, seriously I was impressed. Lots of people love what they do but they can’t/don’t put their love into words. He is rather extraordinary in breaking things down for people to understand, and that ability he has belies his years. The depth of his understanding and his dedication show in those interviews, which also goes to show that there is no accidental success. Well, at least not sustainable success.

@TotallyBiased, he wasn’t named naughty hiddles for nothing, was he? *cough*

      • TotallyBiased says:

        @Grace
I’ll just leave this here for you:
“I will be the first man to kiss you…”

      • MountainRunner says:

        @TotallyBiased, @ joe spider

Damn. I was too busy stomping up mountains and missed the NTL showing. If you catch wind of an encore performance, I hope you will post here.

        @Grace

Thanks for the tip, I’ll add that to my watch list.

      • Allegra says:

        @joe spider and @MoountainRunner:

Coriolanus got broadcast in Philippines in September or October. The fans gathered together to watch it the theater, and I can tell for the pics that I saw on twitter, it was such event. I think Mexico got it too and I just saw a ticket from S. Korea.

      • Grace says:

@TotallyBiased, damn. I didn’t just drool reading that. I did NOT. *heart eyes* Real heart eyes, not nannies seeing things that ain’t there. Is my fangirl showing yet?

But thanks. My dearest. He looks like he knows how to kiss. Lol. But I like his throaty noises even better. I meant in his work…

      • Josa says:

Am I the only one who missed that Muse of Fire interview which was accidentally posted and got pulled? I’m kicking myself since, should have watched it the first moment I noticed it was there. Now I’m checking that site everyday and hoping they will be merciful enough to put it out any time now, even if with a high fee attached, I am willing to pay, whatever it takes.

      • Isadora says:

@MountainRunner: No, unfortunately NTL has a no dvd policy. But there is a version of Corionlanus somewhere on the net…

      • Allegra says:

        @Josa :

No, you are not the only one.
It was talking too much time to download, so I just watched 20 minutes from the first video. I was hoping to get the rest later, but then Torrilla took it that away.
        I was so pissed!

      • Grace says:

        @Josa @Allegra
You can get it on itune.

      • Josa says:

Hugging Allegra. I’m telling myself delayed gratification delayed gratification. Muse of Fire interview who knows when it will come back. High-Rise earliest possible is Cannes in May, I fear it will be OLLA once again, have to wait for 1 whole year after Cannes before it gets release in US. Crimson Peak is Oct, ISTL is probably last month of the year in very limited release. Tom is worth the way, but damnit, must we have to wait for everything?

      • Josa says:

Is on iTune? Yay. Thanks Grace. Not sure why it didn’t occur to me to check there. Going now.

      • Grace says:

        @ Josa

There are two: one made in 2009, one made in 2013. Watch him grow. I’m gonna shut up now. Enjoy!

      • icerose says:

@Joe Spider I think they have to come to some agreement witH he actors to sell them as DVD AND I think the national has sais that their live broadcasts are arE not formated for DVD.
But places like the RSC and the Globe do sell some as DVD’S.
There are also digital sights where you can download west end plays as well. I have seen Tennant’s and Catherine Tate’s Much Ado About Nothing which started at the Donmar , I think and was suppose to be very good.
Frankiestin is doing the rounds again so you never know about Coriolanus.

      • icerose says:

and let’s not forget those long legs in leather and the little bit of hair that peaks in the V of his thread bare Tshirts

      • Grace says:

        @ icerose
Let’s bring on all the gifsets!

Edit: I just realised I should supply one. Can’t find one to your specification. Would this do? http://mesmerisinglycomplicated.tumblr.com/post/101836852981/torrilla-tom-hiddleston-behind-the-scenes-of
        You can see his moles.
        Ah! Got it now.
        http://torrilla.tumblr.com/post/102064373055/hiddleston-daily-chelsea-crowell-istlthefilm
Legs and chest hair. In a manner of speaking.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@TotallyBiased, the theater that shows the NTL broadcasts here has a bar.

      • icerose says:

@Grace I will never forget the moment when I was sitting at the side in the circle seats and he came out in the robe of humility. He had had back to me and the lights were shining on him giving me a beautifully view of those longs legs and tight little behind. I did struggle against the distraction but in Hiddle’s force was great that night and in the end fighting was useless

      • jammypants says:

@icerose, I take it there’s no imagination needed?

    • Lilacflowers says:

@Grace, good God, yes! Let’ us talk about those exquisite hands with those long, perfectly tapered fingers.

      • Grace says:

@ Lilacflowers, they are things of beauty, aren’t they? When I think about his hands, I think about them in black and white motions. The room is dark, his hands held out on a table, through a rain-smeared window you can’t see all the big knuckles , smooth pale skin, long fingers clearly but you want to… But then I like to see him using his hands in interviews while expressing himself too. I am a woman who likes options. And need to stop before this turns sordid. 🙂

      • Lilacflowers says:

Sorry, but I go straight to sordid. Those fingers!

      • Grace says:

His fingers in your mouth kind of sordid? Lol. Alright, I’ve never said as such on this site. Let’s see if this post gets through.

      • jammypants says:

My ex had literally the same type of hands…he was also very tall. Let me tell you, those hands can do SO much.

      • 'P'enny says:

        good grief – hand -p0rn!!!

love his Loki hands the best, never tire of seeing the gif of driving that flying boat thing in TDW. I also love the shot in Avengers where is hands are the first thing you see after he is hulk smashed.

I love his hands – siiighs

    • Grace says:

@jammypants, *winks* You’ve made the most of his hands, I hope?
Edit: So sorry. I pressed the wrong reply in my excitement over #thehands

  22. Allegra says:

Wait, what´s going on there.?Looks like everybody became Tom´s fan.
From Jarah Wright who is Sports Journo, Photog, Screenwriter, PA:
-” It’s going to be so hard to sleep. Today has been absolutely amazing and so much fun. #ISTL #SetLife”
    – “Thank you to @twhiddleston for making today on set so fun. It was a pleasure to meet you and hope to see you tomorrow. Fun to watch you work.”

  23. Lilacflowers says:

Okay, I really need the A.R.T. To do a production of Rocky Horror with Tom in the Tim Curry role. Only A.R.T. Can do this justice. Plus, Tom in a corset, garters, fishnets, and platforms belting out “Sweet Transvestite”. Discuss.

    • icerose says:

works for me but then just about everything works for me

    • Grace says:

Good lord. Can I direct you to AO3 for fanfics? You just described somebody’s plot to a T, I believe. Or a lady Loki. My brain has short-circuited.

    • You have made my Mind Palace a very special place. 😀

    • **sighs** says:

I think I’d rather him as rocky. In teeny tiny gold pants.

      • Lilacflowers says:

But Rocky has very little dialogue and only one song, which he shares with Janet. Granted, it is the “toucha toucha touch me, I wanna be dirty” song, but just one song.

      • **sighs** says:

Yes, lilac, I realize this. I was more going for aesthetic. Guys in corsets and garters scare me. There’s personal history there I’m afraid. Ironically, it also involves rocky horror. Or maybe not so ironically.

    • jammypants says:

I would watch the hell out of that.

    • M.A.F. says:

      who is A.R.T.? I’m drawing a blank.

and I’m with *sighs*. Him in a gold speedo with his curls…….

      • Lilacflowers says:

A.R.T. is the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University. It’s production of “Finding Neverland”, which is lovely, is headed to Broadway, courtesy of Harvey Weinstein, as the recent version of Porgy & Bess with Audra McDonald and Brian Cranston’s play about LBJ did before it. It tends a bit on the more avant garde side. Cherry Jones was a regular for years and Julie Taymor got her start there.

The main theater itself has a rather intimate feel to it. You aren’t that far from the stage and if you are in the front, you may find one of the performers walking over you. It also has a cabaret theater a few blocks away, which features even more experimental stuff and a long-running production called “The Donkey Show”, which is actually a cabaret version of “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Actors love the place.

  24. Camil says:

Tom always looks adorable, especially dressed up as Hank Williams. Originally my biggest interest was High Rise, but now I’m looking forward to watching I Saw the Light.

    • Dara says:

@Camil – I was kind of ‘meh’ at the idea of Hank, his lyrics are awesome but I just cannot deal with his singing voice, especially the yodeling. Was it someone here that said something similar about Bob Dylan and his voice vs. lyrics? I like that comparison, btw. Lately though, ISTL is neck and neck with Crimson Peak on my watch list. High Rise is trailing for me – which could be a good thing, might be a long shot to get US distribution so I’ll be less crushed if I don’t get to see it.

I still can’t quite believe it’s almost a year until Crimson Peak is released – could I humbly suggest Valentine’s Day might have been an awesome date given its rumored storyline… then again, we’d miss a chance for another SDCC Hall H (for Hiddleston) moment from Tom if it were released before the fall.

    • Grace says:

He does have the ability to dive into whatever project and make the utmost of it. I haven’t seen anything he’s in that I don’t like… It’s the can-do attitude showing, I think. Having said that, I have difficulties with Joanna Hogg’s films. They are so quiet… and in a bland and blah kind of way. I know that’s her ‘distinctive’ style or something. But to me they’re just… bland and blah.

      • Anne tommy says:

Said it before, will say it again, I really really like all the Hogg films and not just cos Tom’s in them , tho that’s always an added bonus…

      • Grace says:

@Anne tommy, somehow her films just don’t speak to me. I am not sure it’s the story, or her style of film-making, or a bit of both. Of course what doesn’t work for me could very well be another person’s cup of tea. Maybe one day she will make something I like and I will happily change my mind.
Speaking of films, I do have a major case of worry about Crimson Peak since I’ve never been able to enjoy Guillermo del Toro’s films. But I think I shall reserve my judgement until the trailer comes out.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@AnneTommy, have you seen “Caprice”, her student film? It is included on the “Exhibition” Blu ray and stars a very young “Matilda Swintpn” who gets pulled into a fashion magazine. It’s a bit rough but I love it.

      • Anne tommy says:

I don’t think so lilacflowers, I have the DVD but will take a peek at someone else’s
Blu ray, thanks. Chris hemsworth is a step up from last year’s SMA -practically anyone would be – but they still chose the wrong Asgardian brother of course . Don’t get the Redmayne thing, good actor but sexy…?

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Anne tommy, Lego Loki is rather angry about the SMA thing.

  25. TotallyBiased says:

So, another year and Hiddles is still not my boyfriend. More importantly, he’s still not People’s SEXIEST MAN ALIVE. This year, that honour goes to his “brotha from anotha motha”, Chris Hemsworth! (So Tom is at least SMA adjacent.) In fact, the cover is entirely MCU men!

    • Grace says:

Speak to Lilac see if she’d lend you Tom on a loaner. 🙂

    • 'P'enny says:

I don’t understand People magazine, I’ve never seen it on the shelf near me at all, however, it seems like they are going go for the braun type of attractive man, the intelligent interesting type are not on their radar.

however, time will tell, maybe Hiddles break-out from Marvel year next year, ‘squuee’

  26. Allegra says:

From Tammy Henderson about Tom dance skills:
    – “Totally diggin’ the @twhiddleston lovesick Hiddle-Wiggle Awesome! ”
    – “…just a nickname I gave a move during a performance. Super cute.”

    • icerose says:

I bet that boy has bedroom stamina.
Cannot imagine Tom mooning but he ha sa great behind.

      • Allegra says:

        @icerose:
I bet too. Gosh, I wish i got that much energy. It´s hard to a “normal” person to
        keep up with Tom.
I also having hard time picturing he showing his behind to a crowd, but then i remember that he has a naughty side.

      • Allegra says:

        From Ashley Gilbert:
“I’m cool w/ people sharing set stories but get ur facts right! Tom did not moon anyone on #ISawTheLight. He’s at work & too classy for that!

        What´s going there?

      • jammypants says:

I took his version of “mooning” as shaking his behind (fully clothed) facing the crowd. I also think he’s too classy for that.

    • Allegra says:

I bet these extras are having so much fun on the set . Good for them!
“So, I was an extra in Tom Hiddleston’s new movie yesterday and wow I was just blown away. Extra work is not glamorous and it was sooooo cold, but Tom was WONDERFUL and he made it worth every second. He was so nice to the extras, super patient, and he even joked around with us a bit. He helped direct us what to do/how to act and he tried to keep us entertained. He even sang for us! And after we wrapped, he made a point of thanking us. So, basically, Tom deserves all the love his fans give him. I didn’t think I could like him more, but after seeing how he is in real life, I can safely say I do.”
      http://spectacularspectacular.tumblr.com/post/103008584757/so-i-was-an-extra-in-tom-hiddlestons-new-movie

And I love the fact that he “directing” the extras. Maybe Marvel will let him direct some scenes in the next movie.

      • Grace says:

Oh yes, I can see that happening. He can be assertive when he wants to get his point across.

      • Josa says:

Tom’s charm is undeniable. I love that he’s so down to earth, and he is always very friendly with the extras. He is probly also try to whip up the spirit to help the scene. Those with 400 extras, concert scenes, suppose everyone should be in high festive spirit. Extras sitting around for hours being bored, Tom helps to get them in festive mood. He’ll make a good director someday.

  27. MountainRunner says:

Can we just keep talking about this lovely man until the next post? He just gives me all kinds of happies.

    • Grace says:

Yes! Major case of sad no new films from him until next year…

    • TotallyBiased says:

      MR–
All kinds of yes to that! Can we talk about how he Hiddlestones EVERY SINGLE PERSON HE MEETS!?! From Rodney Crowell and his daughters (and possibly even ex Roseanne Cash) to the Shreveport newsanchor to random guys met in uber-cool independent coffee shops. The South evidently LOVES him–as long as they meet him in person!
He must have live charisma up the wazoo. I remember reading about some fans who met him and could only stutter about how much MORE beautiful he was in person. That they hadn’t expected it, and were having trouble dealing with it. Mind you, these weren’t the wacko teens. These were grown women (and a guy) who expected to remain quite professional in their interactions.
Sometimes I think he can’t help himself–he just HAS to charm people, to play with them, to bask in attention while reminding them that “he’s just a man.”
SO I HAVE A NEW THEORY!!!
His director on I Saw The Light is one heck of a smart cookie. He’s watched Tom over the last two years, seen the vids of how he interacts with fans, and (I think) even went up to either the CP or HighRise shoots. SOOO. This director figures out if he keeps the set tightly closed, keeps Tom from having those fan interactions–THEN when he shoots concert scenes or other places where Hank is supposed to be exhibiting HIS famous charisma, especially if he surrounds Tom with hundreds of extras, TOM will light up like a Roman Candle from the energy pouring at him.
Thus all the Energizer Bunny comparisons on set these days.
I think this director might just be brilliant.

      • Grace says:

Okay, slap me because I am bringing up Muse of Fire again. The two guys who interviewed him, I could tell they adored him. I think he just brings that reaction out of people. I know he often gets criticised for people pleasing. But isn’t it nice someone makes you laugh and thinks about good things?
Now imagine someone asks him about mooning on set when he does press tour for ISTL. I think he will throw his head back and laugh.

      • TotallyBiased says:

Seems like EVERYONE who interacts with him for more than five minutes adores him. At least until the spell wears off? Ha.

      • Allegra says:

And you can tell that Josh horowitz and guy from Empire magazine feel the same about Tom.
By the way , do you guys remember this interview with Jessica Chastain and Josh?

      • jammypants says:

        Don’t forget Jim Beaver 😉

      • icerose says:

He is amazingly good looking when you see him in real life and I have never even met him. He just oozes elegance and charisma. I want him back on stage soon.

      • Lilacflowers says:

And Kenneth Branagh, Jeremy Irons and Luke Evans and Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett and Tilda. And while promoting Birdman, Andrea Riseborough took the opportunity to rave about doing theater work with Tom.

      • MtnRunner says:

        Steve.is.The.Awesome.

    • jammypants says:

He makes me really happy as well =) on top of news of my recent promotion at work =D

  28. MountainRunner says:

@TotallyBiased, I’m on board with that theory. With the stories coming out from the extras on set, I’d conclude that Tom’s been firing on all cylinders. Words cannot describe how excited I am to see ISTL.

I need me some more Hillbilly Hiddleston with that red plaid shirt of sex buttoned down low enough for those chest hairs to peek out.

*takes another pull from the Absinthe bottle*

    • TotallyBiased says:

Okay, no bogarting the Absinthe. 😀
(Drifts off with Hillbilly Hiddlestons hurdling sheep to lull her to sleep.)

    • Grace says:

Is the alcohol consumption out of frustration or out of… frustration? *batting eyelashes*

      • TotallyBiased says:

Are we back on Rocky Horror again? 😉

      • Grace says:

Not entirely. I think he’s… versatile. As in up for anything. /wink But naughtiness without malice is always good in my book.

      • MountainRunner says:

@Grace, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t frustrated with Mr Adorbs 900 miles away and having a hoot without me. Between Hidey-Hids and Ben-Cray, it’s been a rough couple of months.

      • Grace says:

@ MR, *hug* May I offer you a hot bowl of pork and dry mushroom soup? Just to keep you warm and fuzzy while we leave grumpypants in a garden shred to cool off his sourpuss. In the meantime, Tom will keep us entertained with his mooning, singing, dancing, his throaty laughter and… just his everything really.

      • MountainRunner says:

@Grace, you are a dear. Yes, I will take that soup and will get a pot of Earl Gray started. Tom has already set out the chairs for us and is asking for song requests. I told him anything with snake hips to start off…

  29. TotallyBiased says:

HA! Clear evidence that my theory is right (with bonus ‘banana’ reference, for the long-time fans!)
This was on a Tumblr account of an extra on the set, Tom bantering with the crowd between takes:
“I had a banana for lunch. What did you guys have? I’m gonna feed off of you.”

Plus, since it got et, MOAR congrats to jammypants!

    • Grace says:

Tommy, you shameless flirt! *getting my paddle and whip ready*

As much as I love the banana reference, I think it might be a quick pick-me-up for energy levels on set though. Or could be he just loooooves bananas. LOL.

    • Isadora says:

Oooh, I love that. I also love the added (unintended) banana reference. 😀

  30. TotallyBiased says:

WOW! And Oh My! And all that! An extra posted this after finishing their last day on set:
    “All wrapped!
My part in I Saw the Light (as miniscule as it was) is done. It was a complete blast and a privilege to watch Tom. What I wanted from this was to be able to compare: having seen him live on stage in Coriolanus, would he have the same intensity for film acting? Answer is yes. Tonight we did something different than we did last night and he was completely focused and in the zone, whereas the night before he was still focused, but the energy was looser. I won’t go into detail because they want us to keep wraps on the scenes we filmed but I will say it was a true privilege to have participated in this. It was a kick ass experience, and this movie is going to be brilliant.
What I can say: I loved him before, and I love him a million times more now. He went out of his way to be amazing to the extras, educated us on Cockney rhyming slang in between takes (in a Cockney accent), started a treatise on how English accents are different than they were 100 years ago, and told us jokes while we waited. This was seriously so fun. I met a bunch of awesome people and got paid to be in the same room with Tom. 💚 I’m sorry, y’all, I wish I could be more specific but I can’t.”
That person was paid good money to listen to T Hiddy play music, crack jokes, and discuss linguistics.
I am OFFICIALLY beyond jealous. He let the Dancing Bear out to play just a little, I’ll bet!

  31. ellesbelles says:

Ah yes, Tom will do nicely as an addition to my British Lad crush list. I love hearing that actors treat extras as costars and not scenery. I need to watch Thor again and pay more attention this time. I just dont fancy Chris Hemsworth so I didnt pay much attention

    • TotallyBiased says:

I have three words for you, ellesbelles:
      The Hollow Crown
And don’t be fooled–you want the original! From his Prince Hal to Jeremy Irons’ King Henry IV to his intensely delectable Henry V, he is just about perfect to me. I noticed Loki in Avengers, I fell for Tom via The Hollow Crown just weeks later.

    • MountainRunner says:

@ellesbells, I too jumped on the Tommy Train in the past few months and I’m working through Hollow Crown and second TotallyBiased’s recommendation. Tom is wonderful as Prince Hal / Henry V. He really lights up the screen and steals the show.

I also recommend Only Lovers Left Alive. Don’t be turned off by it being about Vampires. It’s really about a loving relationship between a married couple and the chemistry between Tom and Tilda is amazing. The dancing scene will put a big smile on your face. Promise.

I’ve got Return to Cranford up next followed by Midnight in Paris. Thankfully, my local library has a pretty decent BBC selection! Wallander is on Netflix and I’ve got that in the queue as well.

      • OhHey says:

Why are my posts disappearing, Mods? Oh, that one didn’t. Well, what I was trying to say is that I recommend Only Lovers Left Alive too, loved it and the dance scene is on a loop on my computer, if you go to the you tube, type in OLLA dance scened, sit down first. 😉

      • ellesbelles says:

@OhHey, watching it now on the youtubes!! Tilda is so beautiful in this alien sort of way. I love her

      • OhHey says:

I hadn’t seen her in anything till this, and I loved her, loved both characters. Tom is unrecognizable in this, although I think a sneaky smile starts to emerge in the dance scene and he hides it in Tilda’s arm. He had to be very serious, no smiling because Adam is such a sad git, she said he was very ‘lower lip out’ about it, LOL. Pouty face. Reading about her I think we’d be good friends, she’s a garden trollop like me and very down to earth. Seems lovely.

      • MountainRunner says:

SWINTON! I’ll never forget this comment I read on the Fug website:

        “She’s not a person. She’s a piece of architecture.”

        BOOM.

      • OhHey says:

I could agree with that, like a skyscraper with amazing hair, LOL.

    • Dara says:

@ellesbelles – I’ll add my two cents for Warhorse, especially if there are behind the scenes features on a DVD/Blu-ray version. Not much screen time, but he makes the most of it. Brace yourself if you are an animal lover – pretty brutal in spots but Spielberg never disappoints.

@MR – enjoy Wallander. I know Ken Branagh was the lead, but I kept wishing for a Magnus-centered story line. All of the supporting characters needed more to do IMO. And it’s probably the last time Tom’s hair was even close to its original color and curl. I’ve got to track down Return to Cranford – I’m a sucker for a good English period piece.

      • OhHey says:

I can’t bring myself to watch anything but the clips – first time a horse hits the ground I would run screaming out of the room, can’t take it. Tommy’s 8 year old face when he sees what’s waiting for him kills me, can’t watch that aftermath either.

      • Isadora says:

        @OhHey: same here.

    • TotallyBiased says:

@ellesbelles btw, speaking of how Tom treats extras, you may have heard that he hosted the Cleveland wrap party for Avengers at House of Blues and that it was evidently LEGENDARY! Extras were totally encouraged to go (which isn’t true of all wrap parties, believe you me) and even months later at NYCC a girl stood up at the Avengers panel to thank Tom for “taking such good care of the extras.”
If you google invitation, Avengers wrap party, Loki, you might be able to find a pdf of the invite—it’s really quite sweet how he phrased it!

      • OhHey says:

That was suitably and predictably adorable. No wonder everyone he meets just loves him.

      • MtnRunner says:

        @TotallyBiased

What a sweet note… his mama raised him right. He is lethal with that charm. I’m sure I’d be reduced to a blathering idiot in his presence, I’m sure.

      • Josa says:

I have only heard about that wrap party Tom thrown after The Avengers, thought it was for cast and crew, didn’t know extras were invited too. I just googled “invitation, Avengers wrap party, Loki” and the PA’s blog site came out, he showed Tom’s thank you note to him too. The Invite said he may even play the piano for them, I wonder if he did. *Sigh* Tom is really an amazing guy.

      • jammypants says:

My god, he’s close to perfection.

    • Grace says:

      Hello, ellesbelles. Welcome onboard!

Seeing that I’ve gone on about a lot of things, lol, I won’t repeat myself. Just out of curiosity and possibly throwing in a less popular choice into the mix, I quite liked ‘Deep blue sea’. I admit it’s not the easiest film to watch, at times you might have to cover your mouth in shock, the ending seemed a little forced and out of tune with the entire film. But the cinematography is beautiful, and I really loved some of the dialogues. Anyone with me on that one?

      • TotallyBiased says:

        @Grace
Couldn’t agree with you more regarding Deep Blue Sea, especially where that ending is concerned. The truth is, I had a LOT more sympathy for the Freddie character than for Hester. Really couldn’t stand her manipulation and emotional dishonesty, even though it was possibly initiated by her depression. Hope that isn’ttoo much of a spoiler!
Anyway, great cast and compelling movie. Plus Tom. LOTS of lovely Tom.

      • Grace says:

@TotallyBiased *getting ready to write an essay* Tell me to shut up any time you like. *spoiler warning*

The points you brought up about her emotional dishonesty and manipulation are very interesting to me because I’ve read some review online and people seem to find her unsympathetic by large. Some of it I do agree, that she’s obsessed with the idea of love , that she loves to love and the film is about the dying hours of a rather dire relationship. I guess what you said kind of put it in a clearer perspective for me. I can see now why she’s so disliked.

As for me, I feel sorry for her because I found it interesting why she was unable to step away from a falling relationship even though she was not completely fault-free in how it came to be so disastrous. The scene outside the pub was brutal, and also brutally honest. I saw a woman who was desperately in need of help but she wasn’t ready to help herself yet. In a way I like to think that she doesn’t want to be crying and begging either but she just doesn’t know what else to do, which is all kinds of sad in itself because she shouldn’t be going through all of that in her 40s. She should have learned her lessons earlier on in life and know not to let things get that far. Her actions are not sensible; her reasoning is very flawed, at an ugly moment of her life, and I thought the film caught the moment beautifully, if not hard to swallow.

Freddie is also flawed but strangely we understand him better than Hester. He has some very solid lines. I think that’s the reason we sympathise with him. Also Tom’s performance helped a lot. Kind of can’t hate him when he’s looking all sad and remorseful. 🙂

      • TotallyBiased says:

I should point out that I consider her JUST as emotionally dishonest to HERSELF as to anyone else.
And perhaps I can better understand why Freddie protects his internal damage by exaggerating the more jerkish aspects of his personality.

      • MtnRunner says:

I kinda wanted to drop kick Hester out the front door and take Freddie for myself. He was hot but there was no FUN in her dysfunction.

But that may just be my issues, I suppose.

  32. TotallyBiased says:

HEY! All you new Dragonflies (and all the old standbyes as well)
TOM IS BEHIND!!! And this round ends 11 am EST Friday.
    http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/fan-favorites/men-2014/round-3/match-3/

  33. TotallyBiased says:

Wow, that was close. No surprise, though, Hiddles and the 10th Doctor had a tough final round last year, and Whovians have a loong memory. A lot of people may feel that since Tom won it two years in a row that this year is David’s turn. Doesn’t matter, since the Outlander fan juggernaut appears unstoppable.
In other matchup news, Colin Morgan SOUNDLY thrashed BendyBot.

    • Grace says:

BendyBot as in Grumpypants? I’m not surprised. He’s ditching old fans; new ones haven’t discovered the poll yet.

      • Isadora says:

I was also wondering if this devastating result for Benny was due to recent less than fortunate interview quotes and stuff like that. Because if yes, then it was… fast.

    • OhHey says:

Something wrong with that voting, I voted until the numbers changed and they went DOWN, not up, so I call BS on that vote….

  34. Allegra says:

If you’re curious wondering what kind of jokes Tom is telling on the set, here’s a sample:
    https://twitter.com/Meridon/status/535233810359939073

    • Josa says:

He told lame jokes, lol. Somehow that’s more adorable than telling clever jokes.

      • OhHey says:

He’s always said he can’t tell jokes, then he told one, on camera, and it was lame. Oh well, he can’t be good at everything…just the important things… 😉

      • TotallyBiased says:

Yeah, this. Or was it jammypants who said, higher up; “my god, he’s close to perfection.” Even sand paintings have deliberate errors, to highlight the perfection of the rest. Okay, I’m choking on my own cotton candy. He probably growls at cats. But the agape is strong in me for this one.

      • OhHey says:

We should give him one of Ellen’s – “What did the janitor say when he jumped out of his closet? SUPPLIES!”

  35. MtnRunner says:

If he told those dumb jokes in the same vein as he said “You’ve been Loki’d!”, I’d still laugh my ass off.

    What a dork.

    • OhHey says:

I would be laughing at him, not with him, LOL, but still find him adorable. I’ll have to find the video of him telling the lame joke, it’s pretty funny. Oh here, go to the you tubees and put this in the search box…WTbghYty5lg, hopefully if there’s no link it won’t get moderated and deleted [ETA that didn’t work, they mock me]…..Ba dum tish, as he says, LOL

  36. Josa says:

An extra recounting her experience in ISTL. http://bushesobrandy.tumblr.com/post/103348388107/firstly-i-apologize-for-the-delay-in-my-post
I love the last bit, a staring match between Tom & the director.

    • TotallyBiased says:

      @Josa–WHAT A GREAT FIND!!
      Thank you soooo much!

    • TotallyBiased says:

And speaking again of Tom’s truly LAME joke telling abilities:
“How do you tell if someone from Ireland is having a good time? They’re Dublin over with laughter.”

    • joe spider says:

      @ Josa

      the link doesn’t work 😥

      • Allegra says:

        Joe spider:

The girl deleted all her posts about ISTL because some fans were mean to her.

      • Josa says:

Oh, I didn’t know she’s taken that down. Sorry. I read some other extras on twitter voicing their opinions against those who posted behind the scenes stories. There’s also an actor (I guess he is an actor rather than an extra since he has a IMDB profile) who said behind the scene stories are rarely true, so he kinda annoyed that some are telling them. He specifically said Tom didn’t moon anyone. He said the only truth is that Tom is really an amazing actor and a gentleman.

      • Allegra says:

        @joe spider :
Look for TomHiddyFilms on twitter, ok?

        @Josa:
Since we don´t what is going on there, it´s hard to tell who is telling the truth and who is not.

      • joe spider says:

        Got it Allegra.

And I can’t honestly believe Tom would have mooned 🙂

    • **sighs** says:

Prob a ring from the film.

    • MissMary says:

Same thing happened when he filmed CP and was snapped wearing the prop ring. He’s playing a married (multiple times) character in ISTL–prop ring. Easy to forget you have it on esp if you’re just getting out of costume. Looks like he’s wrapping for the day in that pic. And trust–if he’d gotten married, even if he didn’t say anything because he does know how to be private, someone would’ve blabbed from the registry office (and besides: critical thinking moment–he’s in Louisiana. He can’t marry there. He’s not a US citizen. Well, unless he married a woman from the States… Oh, damn, I just started a new rumor).

  39. ellesbelles says:

Taking a BC break here in the Hiddles First Aid tent.

I just checked my ebay and see that my Hollow Crown DVDs are out for delivery, meaning they will be there by the time I get home. Ugh, I must resist binge watching. I know I’ll watch some, but I get up every morning at 430 and I NEED sleep.

I was trying to explain to a very patient friend why I like Tom so much so suddenly, considering I JUST made her sit through my dissertation on the Otter. And beyond acting talent, which is a given, its the damn smile. Its effortless and genuine every. damn. time.

    • DahliaDee says:

One of my favourite things about him is how he talks with his hands, smiles with his whole face, and shines with a light all his own. Well, three of my favourite things about him 🙂

      • ellesbelles says:

I binged many a clip on youtube and I agree about the hands. The passion for Shakespeare doesn’t hurt either 😀

    • MtnRunner says:

@ellesbelles: If you read the early TH posts on CB, you will see some thoughtful discourse over his self-help bookish tweets, his PR boosting charity work and how he earned the nickname TommyAnnE. We mock their crushes here, including sweet Hiddles.

I’m only sharing this in case you’re like me and prefer to get a fuller perspective, based on his past behavior.

I personally choose to overlook all of his identified faults, because he doesn’t act like a prick. He’s just a bit clueless and over-eager for attention. My kids are the same way and I still love them to bits. 🙂

      • ellesbelles says:

@MtnR Oh I dont doubt lol. The thing is, his over eagerness doesn’t taste sour, like our dear Bennys does. I dont know if its true, but the appearance given is that it doesnt matter if its interview one or interview 50, Tom looks like hes genuinely pleased to be talking to someone, no matter how awkward the questions are going. And I haven’t gotten the vibe that hes pandering to fans while insulting their emotions… like Ben has done a few times.

I’m still a cumber-kitten (i really cant get on board with bitch) but Tom leads the pack in charm

      • MtnRunner says:

@EB: Tom’s over-eagerness just makes me want to pat him on the head and say “There there, dear. Yes we all love you, you sweet, adorkable man. Come over here and give me one of your fabulous hugs!”

  40. ellesbelles says:

    Arrrrrrrgh you guys!!!!

the hollow crown is killing me. How is it possible for tom to be so gorgeous. Im dead. I’m pretty sure between tom, Benedict when hes not being a twat, and callum blue, I’m straight up ruined for American men. *facepalm*

    • MtnRunner says:

Tom as roudy Prince Hal is pretty awesome. Prepare yourself for the sauna scene. I’m enjoying Return to Cransford and those golden curls are on full display.

      • ellesbelles says:

Ive started with henry v, just because I know I have to get up early tomorrow.

The damn voice is doing things to my brain and other bits. Perhaps I should call in with a n acute case of hiddlestones.

      • ellesbelles says:

I want him to read me bedtime stories in the worst way. The. Worst. Way.

    • OhHey says:

Tom’s entrance in his long, lean leather outfit nearly made me fall off my chair. I think the words ‘gorgeous piece of man candy’ came out of mouth but that could have been in my head. I definitely need to watch it again…..and then on a horse? OMG.

      • MtnRunner says:

        Your War Horse, I presume?

        *giggle*

      • OhHey says:

He’s my War Horse – ride all day! Now I feel dirty…. His appearance on a grey horse in Henry V is breathtaking. Man, if there’s any surefire way to get me, a guy has to show up on a horse. Done.

    • TotallyBiased says:

There’s just an embarrassment of riches in the Hollow Crown, isn’t there?!
I get goosebumps at the Harfleur speech…cry at all the famous monologues…and can’t stop giggling when he woos Kate. Goiing back to his Prince Hal, the “sun” speech floors me *every* single time! Plus his interactions with Jeremy Irons. Scenery chewing transforms into emotional tapestry weaving.

      • OhHey says:

I found that funny, “Hey, we won the battle, and by the way, leave me your daughter” “Kate, I love thee….” But we just met…….

“…whose face is not worth sunburning”……said no one, ever.

  41. ellesbelles says:

I just finished Henry V. I get it. I soooo get it. I was in tears at the end, especially the proposal. I’m not sure how I feel at the moment. Kind of strung out. If I could say anything to him, it would be thank you for such an achingly beautiful performance. I don’t even know what is happening right now.

Sorry Benny, you are a distant second. I’ll keep you around for a quick hit because I do love your face, and your voice, but this is a delicious slow burn

    • TotallyBiased says:

One of us! One of us!
Yeah,Loki was hot stuff. But watching Hollow Crown the same summer? I fell for him faster than Harfleur! 😉

      • ellesbelles says:

TB, its 0445, and I’m still in bed, still trying to figure out what happened last night. I am rarely so effected by art. I almost want to wait for the thanksgiving break to watch the rest because I can pretty much guarantee my uselessness at work today

    • OhHey says:

That battle scene nearly had me in tears – seeing all the French troops ride up in all their shining glory and seeing the rag tag army he had to fight with, it seemed inevitable that i would be a slaughter. Very emotional and on the edge of my seat through that one. What a great series. I think Cumby may well be a disappointment after this.

      • ellesbelles says:

I still, despite the recent twattery, get the squishies for Otter. Im willing to give him the benefit because his tone and delivery are completely different.

I’m a mess this morning because I watched some Sherlock afterward. My brain is scattered. Thank God its a wasted work week because I’m wasted myself

      • MtnRunner says:

After watching HC, I’d say that the STORY of Henry V was more engaging than the other two plays and yes, I got goosebumps during the speeches before each battle BUT, Tom’s acting engaged me more in Henry IV. Someone commented previously that they thought that Jeremy and Simon raised Tom’s game in that play and I tend to agree. His portrayal of rowdy Prince Hal was even more believable to me than Henry V.

What I loved most about his Prince Hal was how he made Elizabethan language sound so modern and normal because he doesn’t go over the top with his diction, facial expressions and physical movements. So many actors do Shakepeare that way and it’s distracting and unnatural to me. Tom delivered his lines and expressed himself in a more conversational manner to me. One of brief moments I was struck by this is when Henry IV has summoned him to court, and he’s about to get a tongue-lashing. There’s a moment when he simply looks up at the ceiling as he braces himself. No heavy sighs, no pfft-ing, just a look up at the ceiling said it all. His minimalist approach to his portrayal of Hal really stood out to me.

Like a lot of actors, I think Tom struggles with showing anger without overdoing it. He does broody well (Adam in OLLA) along with naughty, romantic, sorrowful (his tears while sitting on the throne, thinking his dad was dead really got me) but angry is harder for me to believe. So that was the only distraction for me in Henry V, but still enjoyed it immensely.

I’m crossing my fingers that Coriolanus will be run again the US theaters for an encore performance (as NTL did with BC’s Frankenstein recently) so I can see him in that. He got great reviews for his performance and I’m sad that he wasn’t on my radar when it came through here earlier this year.

      • ellesbelles says:

MtnR I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Coriolanus comes back through, AND is shown somewhere relatively close to me. I’ve seen the snips and clips on the internet but I’d love to see the whole thing, especially because Mark Gatiss is in it as well.

I could spend all day dissecting Henry V. The proposal scene was my favorite, naturally, because it was so romantic yet shy and awkward.

I told a friend last night via text, my first exposure to Shakespeare was in first grade, seeing The Tempest, and then grudgingly reciting bits of Juliet with an equally begrudging male classmate playing Romeo in 7th grade. Seeing it now as a 33 year old adult, with the added benefit of Tom was absolute joy. It felt like running into an old friend and it becoming new.

I sound like an idiot. I’m just really overwhelmed

      • MtnRunner says:

It’s the flush of newfound love… enjoy your Hiddle High! It is a wonderful antidote to watching Cumby’s slow-moving train wreck.

I really hope after Awards Season that the drama settles down and Ben goes back to being charming and adorable. I can easily forgive.

The Hiddle-High is so worth it. I may lift my self imposed Woody Allen ban to see Midnight in Paris. I really try not to support Allens work. The hiddle-high may make it worthwhile though.

If you’re in the states (not sure it works elsewhere), you might want to check out a show that PBS did when they first broadcast the Hollow Crown. There’s not a lot of Tom, but there are some lovely on-set moments and some interview snippets. Oh, and Jeremy Irons gets to hold forth as only he can as he narrates/hosts the show. It looks similar to the features on the Hollow Crown DVD, but it’s different footage.

        http://www.pbs.org/wnet/shakespeare-uncovered/video/henry-iv-v-with-jeremy-irons/

        Enjoy.

      • OhHey says:

I am dying to see Coriolanus, I don’t think it was in wide release here – not enough for me to have seen it. I can barely cope with the “Tom Prepares for Coriolanus” video, though, a whole couple of hours of musclebound angry Tom could be devastating. But I’d go anyway…….

      • Dara says:

I could talk (gush really) about Shakespeare (and Tom) until the end of time. I’m Sometimes I think pushing the bard on school children in a classroom is a waste of time. IMO you have to see the plays performed (by people who know how) in order to really understand and enjoy it. That’s why I enjoy watching Tom – he obviously ‘gets it’ and tries hard to make sure the audience is along for the ride.

The first time we read Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo & Juliet in school the teacher spent half the time shushing the kids that were tittering at the jokes and innuendo (me included). Heck – the jokes and innuendo are half the point of the thing. You should be snickering.

      • ellesbelles says:

Cheers Dara! I am in the USA so this is fantastic. I’m not doing anything at work today anyhow 😀

I hated doing the juliet bit in middle school. I have a much deeper appreciation now that I’m older.

The Coriolanus clips are devastatingly distracting. I may just go take a quick hit on my break

      • jammypants says:

Tom was painfully attractive in Coriolanus. He’s quite good in it too!

      • Dara says:

@ellesbelles – I’m glad I can contribute to your Hiddle-High! It was the Hollow Crown that made me surrender my heart to Hiddles. If it hadn’t been for his talent with Shakespeare I would probably be vaguely indifferent to the guy. Coriolanus was amazing on screen – I can only imagine what it was like live and in person. God help me if he ever does Shakespeare on stage in London again. I’m rather fond of both of my kidneys, but I’d consider selling one for airfare, hotel and front row tickets.

      • ellesbelles says:

Spoiler alert, I didnt wait to take a break. This whole day is a break. Just watched the clip again and melted.

I also just read an interview he did promoting it with Harpers UK. The best bit for me was:

How do you rid yourself of that anger, once off stage?

There is something very satisfying and definite about Coriolanus’s death at the end of the play. Everything that he is goes with him. Equally, at the end of the play, he experiences compassion and it is very therapeutic to be able to finally yield to something soft and vulnerable.

Oh Tom, I have something soft and vulnerable for you to yield to!

      • jammypants says:

if you want to see the play, Google “ntl coriolanus” and go to the “Videos” tab. Click on the link with chinese characters. It’s a 2-part stream. I’d post the links but they won’t post here =/ Maybe the url is blocked? It’s from a site called “56”

      • ellesbelles says:

jammy, my darling, you may be the death of me! And I wont even make you apologize! I’ll have to do this when I get home and see if I can stream it to the tv

      • jammypants says:

        @elles, you won’t regret this 😉

      • OhHey says:

jammypants, I love you and I want to have your babies.

Not really, because my eggs are long past their sell-by date, but I’m sure you get the feels. Thank you…..a glass of wine later on this afternoon and Coriolanus await me. 😀

      • OhHey says:

ellesbelles, if I have an HDMI port on my laptop, and on the tv and and can change the input on my tv to one of those HDMI ports, should I be able to watch it on the tv? I’m a tech weenie….

      • Grace says:

@jammy, thanks for the link! 🙂 Now I know what I will be watching tonight.

      • ellesbelles says:

@OH good question! I was just about to Google the instructions on how to do it so I will pass that along when I find out!

Even if I cant figure it out, I’m going to curl up in front of the fireplace (thank god I live where its cold for once) pour a scotch and have me some Hiddles time with the tablet. I’m saving the rest of Hollow Crown for the weekend. I’m planning on taking my mom to see “Penglings” of Madagascar on thanksgiving and then out to dinner, so that will be a nice comedic temper to all of the dramatic hiddles-heroin I seem to be bingeing on lately

      • Grace says:

The quality of the vid is pretty good but the downstream speed on that site sucks. I am permanently stuck with loading. So I am downloading it onto my laptop. 🙂 Cold winter night and scotch and Coriolanus!

      • jammypants says:

My pleasure ladies! As for the stream, maybe click play, then pause immediately after, then let it load til it’s done. That way you won’t get interruptions.

As for the HDMI port question, if you don’t have an HDMI port on your laptop, just use your USB. There’s a converter you can use http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Plated-DisplayPort-Adapter/dp/B005H3I38Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1416946405&sr=1-1&keywords=usb+to+hdmi

I’m a techie so I have to know these things 😉

      • OhHey says:

OMIGOD, that was amazing. Couldn’t get the tv to work so I watched on my laptop. Amazing. I am in complete awe of that performance but also that he (they) could do that night after night after night for three months. Blows me away. And yep. I cried…..

Jammy i have an HDMI port on my laptop and on the tv, connected them, changed the input on the tv, but all I got was a flashing screen, couldn’t seem to make it work no matter what I did, so I’ll keep trying, might come in useful some day.

      • jammypants says:

OhHey, that’s weird. I had that issues before but it had to do with the cable. I got a new one and managed to watch from my laptop fine. Glad you got to enjoy the play! I managed to watch it in a cinema but had to drive an hour, which isn’t bad. I feel for people who can’t see it at all.

    • Grace says:

@elles, you should check out the love poems he read if you haven’t already. With caution though, his voice reading love poems should come with a ‘non-work friendly’ tag attached. 😉

      • ellesbelles says:

I’ve listed to a few! I’m tempted to download them to my ipod for sleepytimes. A nice playlist of him and Ben would be perfection for winding down to go to bed

      • Grace says:

Some of his poems are not really for sleepytimes *cough* unless you wanna jump into a cold bath in the middle of night.

      • ellesbelles says:

ah but should they spark naughty dreams, I am ok with this 😉

      • OhHey says:

        Where are they, youtube?

      • Grace says:

I normally don’t listen to him reading ‘May I feel said he’. It’s way too distracting, and I’d want stop whatever I am doing and go fix myself a huge drink… But I wouldn’t mind him reading more E.E.Cummings.

      • ellesbelles says:

oh my god… on youtube, search the red necklace, cd 4 track 10
I’ll be under the desk if anyone needs me. I need to put that on loop!

“I will be the first man to kiss you, to bed you. Whether you come willingly or not, you will be mine and mine alone. Do you understand?”

you guys… seriously.. SERIOUSLY.. what? someone on youtube has the full audio book, over 6 hrs worth of him speaking. guess what I will be converting to mp3 when i get home!

      • OhHey says:

Ellesbelles, can you tell me how to convert? Save as? I have no clue……

      • ellesbelles says:

@OH it wont let me link here but if you google youtube to mp3 converter, the first link is the one i use. you just paste the url of the youtube video in and click go, or convert or whatever the button says. it takes a few mins depending on the size of the file. I just haven’t had time to sit down and convert all of the poetry readings to mp3 files. The file usually ends up in your downloads folder on your desktop

      • OhHey says:

Awesome – I actually thought to google ‘best mp3 converter’ and the 2nd link got me a virus warning so I used the first one. And it worked, I think. Thank you. Now that my storm prep is all done I can play with my laptop to see if I can hook up Coriolanus, that would make my day.

      • ellesbelles says:

I’ve seriously done nothing at work today but chat with you guys, chat on the Otter thread, and drink tea. Nobody needs a building drafted during thanksgiving week. I have some blueprints on my desk and my cad program up to make it look like I’m intensely working. I’m not.

I looked further into the context of the red necklace and I think the “I will be the first man to kiss you..” bit is not in romantic context, more like… creeper context. I listened to a longer bit and was equal parts turned on and terrified. And then I imagined him growling it in my ear and checked out for the rest of the day

      • OhHey says:

Given that it’s in the context of a rape threat, not so romantic, but, um, “interesting” nonetheless. His voice just melts me so I’m going to keep finding things he voiced. There’s an app called The Love Book, it’s got him and other people reading poetry, might be worth the $3.

Ellesbelles, I am only on here so much because I am looking for a job, once I have one I’ll probably disappear except in the wee hours. If I’m lucky….

      • ellesbelles says:

@OH good luck with the hunt! Yeah out of context the quote is delish, in context its terrifying. My proclivities tend to be a bit naughtier than normal so I still was kind of into it. Tmi sorry!

  42. Grace says:

Still trying all kinds of different ways to download Coriolanus… 🙁

    • ellesbelles says:

Thats my task tonight Grace so hopefully we can get it all sorted out and get our hiddle fix

      • Grace says:

And Scotch. And warm blanket. I am getting there.

      • ellesbelles says:

yes and yes! I’m trying to remember what I’ve done with my ipod because I’m going to download all of the poetry readings

      • Grace says:

Apart from The Red Necklace, he did also read another audio book – Ian Fleming’s Octopussy and the Living Daylights – excuse the unfortunate you-know-what association.

      • ellesbelles says:

ha! I’ll look past it, and see if I can find the audio if only to have a blush and titter if he keeps saying pussy.

Yeah, I’m a 12 yr old trapped in a 33 yr olds body. Shameless!!

      • MtnRunner says:

If you figure it out, let us know… I tried jammypants suggestion below and gave up after scrolling though about 12 pages of search results.

    • OhHey says:

Grace, jammypants instructions worked for me, google Coriolanus, video, click on the link with chinese characters and the number 56. Both parts are there, comes up in youtube. He blows me away, amazing performance, Built Like A Brick Shithouse Tom is incredible.

      • ellesbelles says:

I just finished watching. I think I’m dead, brought back to life, and then dead again.

I’m a little different in that I find passionate aggression devastatingly sexy, so he was particularly magnetic for me.

I’m just going to admit to utter obsession now and be done with it

      • OhHey says:

I must say I found the subtitles annoying because they, erm, sometimes got in the way, but truth be told I needed them, Shakespeare can be hard to follow 😉
And yes, devastatingly sexy, the fact that he put on so much muscle was equally devastating, positively brawny. Mrwwooowww.

      • ellesbelles says:

Im just… dead. Lol totally dead. The whole cast was so good.

      • OhHey says:

Trying to picture where I have seen the actress who plays his mother before…. I know I have.

      • ellesbelles says:

I’ve just checked her IMDB, and she was in Vanity Fair, like our lady of the eight legged sea creatures, Cranford, Torchwood, lots of UK based stuff.

      • OhHey says:

“like our lady of the eight legged sea creatures” was that with Sodious? 😀

      • ellesbelles says:

But if we love ben we love her!
Sorry toots, I don’t like seafood.

I’ll take a full serving of shirtless sweaty tom with an extra helping of shirtless sweaty tom, followed by dessert of tom in a sauna, and happy thanksgiving

      • Grace says:

The thin tunic! How could you forget the thin tunic!
