Before we get to the epic Met Gala coverage – which will start momentarily – I just wanted to cover these photos from the Chanel 2015/16 Cruise collection. There was a minor scandal when Chanel released the date for this big PR/fashion event – the Met Gala had been on the books for months before Karl Lagerfeld decided to show the Cruise collection the very same day… in Seoul, South Korea. Do you think it was shade aimed at Anna Wintour? Do you think this is Karl’s way of hating on the Met Gala?
Anyway, Kristen Stewart, one of the faces of Chanel these days, was one of the big celebrity guests. Which meant that she couldn’t attend the Met Gala, as she has in years past (usually to terrible results). Was that a good choice? Honoring her contract with Chanel instead of coming out to the biggest fashion event of the year? It’s a tough call. Made easier by the fact that her ex, Robert Pattinson, came to the Met Gala with his fiancée, FKA Twigs. Hm. As for Kristen’s look here… she looks great. The dress works on her, I don’t mind the hair at all and her makeup is on point. She even made an effort to look less sulky than usual. Huzzah!
More photos… Gisele Bundchen going solo at the Cruise collection. She didn’t walk the runway (she’s retired!), but she came out for Karl and Chanel.
And obviously the most important person there was Tilda Swinton and her lover Sandro Kopp. I’m shocked by how “normal” Tilda looks here. Where is the Alien Goddess Realness?

@nina….last night my husband said almost the exact thing you did about Gisele. I didn’t ask him how he felt about her , he just volunteered his two cents. I told him he should never be shy anytime he wanted to criticize a supermodel…I’m all ears! GB does have an amazing body though, I can’t deny her that.

Kristen looks amazing. Tres chic! I love her association with Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. I liked her past MET outfits too. I wonder how much she is getting paid by Chanel, she’s the face of it’s handbag, clothes and eyewear collections. She obviously is working for them or they wouldn’t keep asking her back.
Kirsten’s hair reminds me of Ace Ventura. Her face looks really pretty, though.
I kind of love her Ace Ventura hair, as insane as it looks. It works on her because she has an angular face imo. I feel like it is the type of style that would work on Rooney Mara or Tilda too.

I agree, but only because she usually looks so terrible. This isn’t as awful as her past Met Gala outfits, but to me it looks like a giant piece of funeral wreath floral ribbon wrapped around a black 80’s cocktail dress. Too stiff and binding for me. Her makeup artists are great, though. She should publicly acknowledge them, they always do such a great job!
I absolutely love the whole look. Kristen’s hair is fabulous! Karl must love her work, he keeps giving her more lines to represent.

I love Gisele and Kristen’s looks. Whenever I see Gisele I go “that’s a supermodel,” something you can’t do with most of the girls these days. Tilda looks so bland, which is a disappointment.
Asian market is very important. So no wonder Chanel prefered Kristen going to Seoul and not to MET.
She looks beautiful! Her hair is getting longer. Saw a picture of her on Twitter with curly hair- very cute.
My favorite MET outfit of her would be her punk costume. Favorite this year – Zhang Ziyi in Carolina Herrera.

Kristen looks beautiful. I always just want her to cheer the eff up. Gisele would look good yawning. And Tilda is a true original, like Gaga, and we need to celebrate those every chance we get; they’re very, very rare.

Great comment. I wanted to snark, because people started calling him her lover when the false rumour that she’s still married and living with both her husband and Sandro has spread years ago (she later denied it and said she’s never been officially married), but now I will gladly call him her lover as well. Alien Goddesses don’t have life partners or boyfriends.

Agree. The dress looks great; even Kristen’s makeup looks good but not so much together. I think the dress is wearing her more than anything.
I loved Kristen’s look and dress, and respect that she honored her contract. But I think it was RUDE of them to schedule it to conflict w/ the Met gala. I like Tilda’s jacket, but the skirt seems too matronly, and though I have NEVER said this before in my life, the jacket fit does make Tilda look beginnings-preggers. (I know that is so rude of me, but I can’t help after Jennifer Anniston has been pregnant 321 times, to imagine for a moment how AWESOME Tilda maternity style would be!!!!)
Karl changed the date (originally scheduled for the 11th) because Dior will do its show on May 9th. So, according to them the only date available was the 4th. Fashion drama is the best drama.
Considering Chanel pays her yeah I think it was a wise decision.
I liked the top half of the dress, and the portrait collar looks good on her. The bottom half is not great, and the shoe game is too lame. She clearly is uncomfortable in stilettos, so why put her in them over and over? Giselle’s hair is up there with Connie Britton’s- gorgeous. Tilda- loved the color on her, the skirt should have been shorter. This is how Alien Godesses dress for lunch😃

I loved Kristen’s dress and makeup, and I’m glad she skipped the Met thanks to her contractual commitments to Chanel, everybody is there those days .
Also love the fact that all the “Chanel Kids” (Kris, Gisselle and the french model/actor Gaspard Ulliel) were in matching outfits, coincidence or not, I loved it!
