Adele says ’25’ will be her ‘make-up record… I’m making up with myself’

Are you ready for Adele to take over the world? It will happen. It will happen in a few weeks. By most reports, Adele’s new album, 25, will be coming out in late November. She should be dropping the first single in a few weeks, although we might have already gotten a preview of the first single this past Sunday night, when a 30-second spot aired on British television. It feels like Adele is trying to prepare us for her takeover gradually. She just posted this on her Facebook:

Okay! Here, just take all my money. I can’t wait for the first single to come out. I can’t wait for the whole album to come out. Hilariously, I’ve read that several artists have pushed back their album releases now because they don’t want to go head-to-head with Adele in way, shape or form. She might even have the November charts all to herself!

Unsurprisingly, sources claim Adele will be making appearances on Saturday Night Live, the Today Show and that NBC is giving her some kind of prime time special too. We sort of knew that already – she reportedly inked a deal with NBC for a series of exclusive appearances. The Adele Takeover is upon us.

    BEHOLD.

  2. Size Does Matter says:

    Love her. Welcome back, Adele.

  3. Mimz says:

    CANNOT WAIT

    *heavy breathing*

  4. Naddie says:

I can deeply relate to the “wishing away” thing, and it’s not a good feeling.
Now, that’s Adele showing us that a young age is no excuse for other artists to make dumb, low-quality music.

  5. aims says:

    The Queen has returned!

  6. lower-case deb says:

the only flaw in titling your albums with your age is that you can’t shave off your age later on. not when 30 million people around the world hold a proof of age. 😀

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

I dont think she is the type to try and lie about her age, unlike some others *cough, Beyonce*… from that passage, it seems like she is finally getting comfortable with who she is now and wants to appreciate her present. Screw age!

    • Norman Bates's Mother says:

She still has 2 years left to shave off in the future as she’s 27 and the album is titled 25. 😉

  7. anniefannie says:

Love the forward, who can’t identify with those thoughts? World domination is eminent.

  8. ABBESS TANSY says:

Love her, love her. I. Can’t. Wait.

  9. Allie says:

God, that letter was everything. I wish she came out with this album last year so we didn’t have to hear about Taylor Swift. Adele beats Taylor in everything and it’s so crazy that they are the same age.

    • Louise says:

1989 was a great record. Not Taylor’s biggest fan but she knows how to write a catchy tune. Give her some credit

      • Allie says:

I don’t hate Taylor’s music. But it did not deserve the praise it received, let’s be real. It’s a mediocre album with some catchy songs.

  10. lucy2 says:

Love her and can’t wait. Love that when she’s not promoting her album or a tour, she goes away and lives her life privately. Love that her songs are personal and mean something to her, not just manufactured pop.

  11. CFY says:

Adele news and New New Star Wars full trailer – two very bright spots this week!

  12. Tiffany says:

    *Throws wallet at Amazon*

    Not until November. Got it.

  13. Alex says:

    I’m ready. SO READY

  14. savu says:

I’ll stock up on wine and tissues. Who’s coming over?

  15. Loopy says:

Is she from the East End? The way she looks and speaks are so opposite I was quite surprised how I expected her to sound.

    • antipodean says:

She is actually from North London, which could mean either posh or middle class as to how she speaks. Her father deserted her and her Mum when she was small, so I think she was brought up with few financial advantages. In spite of that she is obviously well educated, and in a class of her very own.

    • Manjit says:

Tottenham and Brixton are (well, were) quite working class areas.

      • antipodean says:

Brixton is souff London, I lived there for a long time. I used to love the market there. As they used to say it’s right next to Clapharm, which was in the middle of being gentrified at the time.

  16. GreenieWeenie says:

Man, I so know what she means. I’m 35 now and it’s the first year of my life that I haven’t wished I were older.

  17. Jaded says:

And a collective shiver went through the female pop music world. Taylor Swift started popping Adderall….Miley Cyrus fired up a cigar sized blunt….Katy Perry had a vocal chord implant….Arianna Grande had a personality replacement…

    • Veronica says:

I don’t think Swift has much to worry about, honestly. Her album has dominated all year. It’s the artists who haven’t released anything in awhile who might be looking at trouble. Grande is still coming off her first album, so I wouldn’t expect another one for a year or two. Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus are the two I’d be looking at for trouble in 2016 if they were planning anything.

  18. Veronica says:

MY BODY IS READY. Though, if it is a November release, I’m a little surprised the preorder isn’t up yet. I’m on it, though. I am all over it.

(I’m kind of hoping Justin Bieber will be one of the artists pushing his album release back because how funny would it be if his first “adult” album gets cockblocked by Adele?)

  19. Macey says:

    I can’t wait! Takeover already!!!

I can related to her letter too and the always wishing for this or that or being in a state of discontent, that has always been an issue for me throughout my life so now Im really anxious for this.

  20. WinnieCoopersMom says:

This album is going to be everything.

  21. Frank says:

Let hope we not disappointed. Rihanna is releasing too

  22. Mindy says:

Just go ahead and take my money already. I’ll buy it digital, on cd and on vinyl. Hell, she wants to put it out on 8-track, I’ll get it that way too. I’m ready to be a weepy mess for a couple of days,

  23. Louise says:

Love her, i need more songs to exhaust on my ipod!

  24. MediaMaven says:

What I love about her is her lack of “gimmick”. She doesn’t need to wear dresses made out of meat, dye her hair different colors every other week, or have an entourage of sycophants. Her music is about her amazing voice, and her experiences. She’s not “on” 24/7. Take it or leave it. I’ll take it.

  25. belle de jour says:

Hmm. An album titled “25” released “in late November”… could it possibly be November 25th? That would be something to be truly thankful for.

  26. Happy21 says:

It’s about time we’ve had someone with some talent and who is a genuinely good person take over. I’m sick of the Kardashians and all of their shit, hell I love her but I’m even tired of Taylor Swift, I’m sick of stupid fights among rappers and pop stars. It’s time Adele, we’ve waited long enough!

  27. Mmtahoe says:

I had the joy of going to 3 of her concerts when she toured, I’ve always loved Adele. As I think back to her dialogue between songs, this makes complete sense to me. I’m more excited for this than Christmas!!

  28. mirage says:

    Oh! No!
I think I am the only one here who has not missed her depressing music. And does not relate at all to the whining/stalking on her ex.
But it’s ok, I can just turn the radio off.

I am definitely a Guardian reader in that respect.
I 100% relate to both the article, and to the hilarious comments:
    http://www.theguardian.com/music/shortcuts/2015/oct/19/adele-is-back-new-album-teaser-ad

  29. K says:

I can’t wait. Love her music

  30. Sarah says:

Haha I am in the minority but I find many of her songs to be whiny and pathetic. If ‘Someone Like You’ comes on the radio, I get a headache from rolling my eyes so much!

She has a lovely voice and some of her songs are good (Skyfall!!!) but I am not living in her butt like most!
