Karl Lagerfeld ‘admires’ Kim Kardashian for not being ‘super slim’ or tall

A few days ago, Kim posted this ^^ image to her social media. This means that “Karl Lagerfeld” now appears in Kim’s highly popular, successful and lucrative iOS game. Kim has already included her family members in the game (which is about shopping and hanging out in LA), but now players will get to hang out with Lagerfeld in the game. When I saw this a few days ago, I thought, “Wow, I wonder if Lagerfeld is going to sue Kim Kardashian over the use of his image?” As it turns out though, Lagerfeld gave his permission for his likeness to be used. Because Lagerfeld actually likes the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Shocking, I know.

Karl Lagerfeld is to have his very own avatar and virtual Paris boutique on the game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, an iPhone and iPad app by Glu Mobile, that currently has more than 30 million active users.

“Kim’s contribution to beauty and fashion—and what made her such an icon—is the fact that you don’t have to be super slim and very tall to be beautiful,” says Lagerfeld. “Others tried, but she succeeded in giving other girls like herself confidence. And I admire her for that.”

Lagerfeld will be in good company in Kardashian’s virtual world, joining fashion editors André Leon Talley and Anna Dello Russo in helping players to follow in the reality star’s footsteps and jump from the E-list to the A-list by completing a series of tasks, such as taking meetings with agents, modeling gigs, and attending parties.

“Karl Lagerfeld is such an icon and I’ve been lucky enough to work with him several times over the years,” Kardashian says of the partnership, which will also feature shoppable pieces from Lagerfeld’s eponymous label, including the Sam Masculine coat from Fall 2015 that she wears in the game.

*stunned silence*

Honestly though… Lagerfeld loves to be a curmudgeon, provocateur and contrarian. He loves to wallow in high-low pop culture. Where Rebel Wilson takes a stand against the Kardashians, Lagerfeld enjoys them for what they are. Oh, and Lagerfeld also had this to say: “I like her mother a lot and I adore her little half-sister Kendall. I don’t know the rest of this astonishing family.” Hahaha. Of course Karl Lagerfeld would enjoy Kris Jenner. Minions of Satan flock together.

Yet, there is only super slim and super tall models on his runways.

    • korra says:

Lol but he’ll criticize the hell out of Adele for her figure lmao.

      • ShinyGrenade says:

This I don’t get. Adele is stunning, she got a very beautiful face. She is NATURAL and has talents.

Kim K? Full of plastic. Icon? Of bad taste.

      • SusieQ says:

Let’s be fair folks, Adele has gotten a ton of surgery on her face too. Nose, neck, cheeks and probably more. Doesn’t mean she’s not great, blah blah, but show biz is show biz.

    • boredblond says:

Hehe, my thoughts exactly..never saw a pudgy short girl on any of these ‘will-kiss-up-to-anyone’ designers’ runways

    • jamie says:

He only likes her because she is lining his pockets with money.

  2. swack says:

I’m not super slim and tall, would he admire me? NO!! Anything for publicity.

    • Sass says:

Ha! I have had a successful career as a temptress. I am very petite, and all those short guys have to have someone to date. We shorties attract them like flies.

  3. Josephine says:

What I find interesting about them is that their looks are so incredibly dull. Everything is skin-tight, black and cheap-looking, except for the occasional dabble in unflattering nude tones. I don’t understand why anyone would find them interesting from the fashion-perspective. They are so overdone, and their look is dated. They remind me of bad-80s fashion, and they are never original.

  4. Elizabeth says:

After what he said about the super-talented and far more beautiful Adele? It’s okay for Kim but not Adele?

    • Bettyrose says:

The difference is that Adele markets herself on talent, not looks. Kim may be a different body types than models, but she very much stands for endlessly chasing an unobtainable beauty standard. The beauty industry wants your money, not your talent, so Adele is of no use to them.

  5. antipodean says:

Oh dear Karl, how the mighty are fallen. I wonder if he is going a little bit dolally. It wasn’t so long ago he was reviling all and sundry as being fat, ugly, bad skinned, the list is endless. Now this complete about face. I can only think that the checks must be very large for our dear Anger Bear to be changing his tune. Choupette needs to stage an intervention, right smart.

    • Blackcat says:

      +1000

    • belle de jour says:

This is all utter, cynical Kunty Karl bullshit… he’s a known freak about silhouette and weight, obsessive about his own, and has never looked back. He’s just being contrary for a big fat paycheck; and I think, in his own way, that he’s completely dissing them all while doing it.

  6. Dawn says:

Oh for the sake of god what type of B.S. is this guy spinning now. She is exactly who Coco Chanel would not want to see wearing her clothes at a show. This guy’s ego is bigger than his brain.

    • Josephine says:

This — One of her more famous quotes — ” A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

      • Holmes says:

Coco Chanel was a known Nazi sympathizer, which seems neither classy nor fabulous to me.

      • Josephine says:

@ Holmes. Didn’t know that – apparently that hasn’t stopped millions of people from buying her brand and from celebs to continue to endorse it, kinda like both Mercedes and Volkswagen. I’ve always liked that quote, but gotta stop using it now. Of course, doesn’t change the fact that Kim is opposite of classy.

  7. coconut says:

Been meaning to say lately re Kim: She’s finally wearing bras that fit her!! Yeh!

  8. jwoolman says:

Is he really Kim’s height? Their cartoon versions look the same height, although I suppose those insane high heels could do it. Her cartoon version actually is quite slim, Karl. And it has far more facial expression than we’ve seen in Kimmie in a long time.

Did Choupette sign up for the game? Or is she boycotting in solidarity with Mercy (r.i.p.)?

  9. Felice. says:

……I GUESS……. but what about Adele, Gabourey Sidibe, and many others?

  10. Zapp Brannigan says:

Where I am from that is a back handed compliment. I see you Karl!

  11. Fancypants says:

Didn’t he recently say ” beauty is in the eye of the beholder” when asked about KK?

  12. Kate says:

Well, at least he has given the world Choupette. That almost makes up for this.

  13. Pandy says:

“Nobody wants to see round women on the cat walk”. This old fart! Anything for a dollar. Who listens to him anyway?? Except as a tool of amusement. I’ve only included one article about his hatred of fat people/women – so I don’t get the KK love suddenly – except to make $$ from them. Hypocrite.

    • milla says:

he also said that workout gear is for losers. then he made a couture collection with sneakers. he is just saying things, he has no friends, like money making machine.

      • jwoolman says:

Now, now. He has one friend, Choupette actually likes the old geezer. Of course, cats are motor reflex killers (as my kitty-loving uncle used to say) and appreciate successful predators.

  14. milla says:

doubt people are surprised. he is not a great designer, but he is a great businessman. he doesn’t see people, he is all about the money and even if he says something, it is just for more publicity. of course this is not OK, but when did he ever do or say anything nice? decent?

  15. Lilacflowers says:

Choupette is having none of this.

Also, as a short, curvy woman, I take no inspiration from Kim, Karl. I’m beautiful in my flip flops.

  16. Alana says:

You ll say anything for someone who brings you bunch of money ha? Wow I am sick of the designers I used to love ( their fashion at least) acting so ridiculous . You know he would be bashing her if she wasn’t making him any dough. Like he needs it
    Blah

  17. pleaseno says:

Expressing one’s admiration for someone because they aren’t “very tall”? (Which happens to be the one thing that KK actually can’t change with plastic surgery.) Karl, you’re a complete and total sell-out. I hope the money you make on that game more than compensates for the complete loss of respect you just scored.

    • Alana says:

That’s what I was saying too. It’s not like he is hurting for money or fame . He seems like a total sell out

    • Beatrice says:

Absolutely a sell-out! The check must be quite large. And Andre Leon Tally is in the game, too? Just amazing. However Anna Wintour drank the Kool Aid a long time ago.

  18. Karl…Kim…BHAhahahahhaaaa

  19. neutral says:

Looked in a mirror lately Karl?

  20. cd3 says:

Only commenting here as it relates to Karl – admiring someone for being tall is ridiculous. Height is a genetically pre-determined trait as everyone knows. I know Karl is an agitator, but c’mon -this is truly ridiculous. It’s like admiring someone for being born with brown hair. How brave of them!

  21. LilyT says:

Oh well he would admire me too then. Thanks Karl. I feel really special now. Ya dingbat.

  22. CCinkissimmee says:

I’m totally late saying this but.. He looks like a character from a horror film in that last pic. Creepy.

  23. TopCat says:

I just find his views about women disgusting. He literally seems to ONLY view women as mannequins. Of course slim, skinny and tall women can be beautiful and of course so can short, larger or curvier women. Physical beauty is largely concentrated in the face. You can have a striking body but no facial beauty. You can have a body that is physically displeasing but a gorgeous face. You can be lucky and have both! Karl only admires tall, slim, supermodel bodies. But of course women of all shapes and sizes. I think Kate Moss, Brooke Shields, Vanessa Paradis, Lucy Lawless, Hudson Leick, Rhonda Roussey and Renee O’Connor (amongst other women) are all gorgeously good looking but there figures are largely very different ranging from tall, short, skinny, athletic, curvaceous and muscular. The fashion industry can only make money off of women when it makes women feel bad about what they are. A small percentage of women are naturally very slim and tall. Most are slim at the adolescent stage of life and grow a bit bigger in their twenties. A lot of models who have to stay that slim live on very restrictive, disciplined diets (never a glass of wine, a chocolate biscuit or a takeaway curry). The majority of women do not live or sustain themselves in this way. Fashion is made for the very thin and very tall. Do not look to the catwalk for sustainable fashion ladies. Look to it for fantasy or look to it if you yourself fit the supermodel/catwalk look. Otherwise, look elsewhere for your inspiration.

  24. miasys says:

I’m surely going to hell for this, but Karl looks exactly like my abuela. Right down to the perpetually pissed-off frown.

  25. Lis says:

This guy reminds me of what I said to my husband after my mother-in-law said something incredibly stupid the other day, “please don’t let me be one of those ignorant old people, spouting off BS, when I’m that age”.
Like Kim has control over being a vertically challenged person …
