Unsurprisingly, Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard are expecting their second child

Shocking absolutely no one, one of the Duggar ladies is knocked up again. This time it’s Jill Duggar-Dillard, who married Derick Dillard back in 2014. Jill and Derick welcomed son Israel just about nine months after getting married, no surprise. But Jill’s pregnancy was difficult, and she had to be hospitalized for the birth, which was not part of her birth plan. Jill has trained as a midwife, and all of the Duggars believe in natural childbirth and all of that. I think Jill’s difficult labor sort of put her off baby-making for a while, because it’s taken more than a year and a half for her to get pregnant again.

There’s more news on the Duggar family front! Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, announced that they’re expecting baby No. 2 on Tuesday, December 20 — and the couple couldn’t be more thrilled about their growing brood!

“We are so excited to be expecting Dillard baby #2!” Jill and Derick told People magazine. “Children really are a wonderful blessing from God. Having Israel has been such a delight to us that we know a second sweet baby will only continue to add joy to our family. We are thankful to God for this sweet child and we cannot wait to see her or him face to face!”

Duggar, 25, and Dillard, 27, spent almost a year living in Central America, where they moved to do long-term missionary work, and returned to the U.S. in August. The couple already have one child together, son Israel David, 20 months.

Dillard and the 19 Kids and Counting star famously tied the knot in June 2014, which was also when they exchanged their first kiss. Both were adamant about getting started on a family right away.

[From Us Weekly]

Jill and Derick have their controversies of course, like the fact that their “missionary work” seems more like a church-financed vacation scam, but all in all… they are not the most controversial people in the family. I actually find Jill to be rather likeable and sympathetic, even more so than Jessa. Jill at least worked for a living as a nurse/midwife and Derick has held real jobs too. Now, does this mean that Jill and Derick are going to be able to financially support their growing brood? Who knows?

These Duggar women make my girl parts hurt. Having her first child has been such a delight…strange way to describe your kid. By the time he’s ten, she won’t remember him anyway, face in the ground. Run Jana, run..

  3. JustCrimmles says:

What is it about his teeth that seems so… green.

  4. Taiss says:

If you’re not going to use birth control, at least work on your pull out game.

    • Lynnie says:

I think the point is to have as many kids as possible, so to them his pull-out game is right where it needs to be.

    • Sabrine says:

Production at the baby factory is up and running, with many more orders pending delivery of the most current shipment.

      • Nancy says:

Her younger sister Jessa married after her and is about six months pregnant with her second kid. I wonder if there is jealousy between the sisters who gets married first, have the most babies. Just read Joy Anna (?) had a feller…….the oldest girl Jana must be chained in the basement at night…or in a medically induced coma.

      • mayamae says:

Jana is the MVP of the family and does the heavy lifting. They’re not letting her go until the youngest girls can be the servants.

      • Nancy says:

She does, but why? She seems perfectly content at home with mom, dad and the army of kids. Her male counterpart John is single as well. Something strange about those twins. They would send him to straight camp if he were gay….forgive my Mike Pence inference, Anyway, she needs to grow a pair and get out of Dodge before they start calling her grandma. I do feel bad for her, but if she isn’t courting by this time, she should at least move out of her childhood home/daycare center. Shame on those parents of hers.

    Please stop covering these bigots.

I guess this guarantees another slew of Duggar episodes from TLC. At least this frees Jill from the need to pretend she enjoys being a “missionary”; I doubt they’ll be heading back to Central America any time in the near future, even though they’re still accepting donations ostensibly for this purpose on their website. Where the hell is the IRS?

  7. Belle Epoch says:

WHY are we hearing about these people? They don’t even have real jobs and the Duggar approach to dhildrearing is detestable. If they would break the mold that might be interesting, but there is no reason why we should keep feeding their need for publicity. I wish they would all go away.

  8. Chingona says:

Missionary work: go into third world countries and try to convert the local savages(their views) into christians. Not helping with shelter, medical care or education for the local people. Yes this is God’s work, amen!!

    • Locke Lamora says:

And didn’t they try to “covert” Catholics? What the f***?
And all they did in those “missionary” trips was preach the gospel and complain how dangerous it was. They didn’t actually help the people.

      • Chingona says:

Yes, I used to hate watch this show, I know shoot me. Anyhow on one episode they went to a country in South America and all they did was preach the gospel and give a couple toys. They went to see a someone’s house and couldn’t believe people lived like this yet did not one thing to help. They also couldn’t believe how nice people were, because you know us Hispanics must be savage and crimanals. The mother stayed behind and she just waited by the phone acting as if they went to war and any minute she was going to hear back the Jim Bob was killed or something. ( I think she wished he was, shh!!)

      • hannah says:

Anna Duggar’s sister Esther , her grifting husband and their 10(?) children are living in Zambia trying to convert the Christian population to the right form of Christianity.

    • Sixer says:

Yes. I have more problems with the missionary side of it than I do them just sitting at home and doing their weirdo lives by themselves. Far from harmless.

  9. Jess says:

I was gonna say the same about these two, they don’t bother me as much as the others. They seem more genuine or something, maybe.

    • kaiko says:

…genuinely interested in keeping the cash rolling in with their lame spinoff TV show and ongoing breeding marathon…but hey, that’s how they were raised. babies for Jesus and the cameras!

      • Cindi says:

Why don’t you all just mind your own business? They aren’t hurting you, leave them alone. It’s nice to know there are still people with real values.

  10. lightpurple says:

So, the kid is due today? Guesses for names. In true Duggar style, it has to have the same initials as the other one right?

    If a boy:
    Iceland Daniel
    Ichabod Detergent

    Girl:
    Ireland Deirdre
    Imelda Desiree

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Arkansas needs to revise its spay and neuter laws.

  12. Tourmaline says:

By any professional standard, Jill Duggar Dillard cannot be called a “nurse/midwife.”

    • Konspiracytheory says:

Thank you! And she certainly never supported herself being a ‘midwife’ – she just dabbled in it until it was finally time to fulfill her true calling of being a brood mare for Jim Boob’s cult.

      • molly says:

Yes, thank you. On behalf of ACTUAL nurses and midwives, she is most certainly not that. I prefer my medical professionals to have attended actual, accredited school.

  13. Heat says:

The only thing that shocks me is the fact that it took so long…she must be such a disappointment to her parents.

Just thinking about them sisters birthing more babies is making me cross my legs and go all Gandalf on my BF – “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!”

  15. Eric says:

The only “missionary” work these clods do is the missionary position, because GOD SAID SO!

  16. hannah says:

She can hardly take care of one child and Derick is in meltdown mode . That’s going to be a clusterfuck .

  17. chaine says:

Can we stop giving these grifters attention? In the normal world, a young couple having baby number two is NOT news. Call me back when she births out the fourteenth.

  18. laur says:

Put her off?? I didn’t think the women in this cult had any say over when they have children, don’t they have to be “available for the man” whenever he wants it, because, you know, god….

Also, the whole missionary thing just p*sses me off, their attitude is so superior, they don’t genuinely want to help people they just want to be “right” and look down on anyone who doesn’t subscribe to their beliefs.

  19. Lucky says:

I just realized he looks like Aaron Rodgers if he was to get hit by a bus

  20. Amelie says:

I think the reason she waited so long to get pregnant was because they were in Central America. From what I can tell they were by no means living in the slums but it didn’t seem a place I’d want to get pregnant and give birth. Wanting access to American hospitals/midwives (not sure if these women see actual OBGYNS during their pregnancy or just midwives?) and people who speak English is normal IMO. I’d be interested to see if these daughters really do go past 5+ kids. Both Jessa and Jill had long difficult labors and deliveries and both had to go to the hospital (I think they both planned on home births). I think they might change their minds after a few kids.

    • Chingona says:

Well of course they can’t give birth in such a horrible place because only the U.S.A has great hospitals, doctors and an awesome health care system!!! Other countries are great for visiting and doing pretend missionary work, but oh my you couldn’t possibly be pregnant and give birth in such a place. OK! Did they then do some form of birth control that they are completely againist while there in order to save themselves from that horror?
