Singers Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (the name that drives spell check crazy) have been an item since January, and their love continues to blossom. A source close to the couple told E! News that the 24-year-old singer/actress/producer, who was romantically linked to Justin Bieber (Why?), is “head over heels in love” with the 27-year-old “Can’t Feel My Face” singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye. The source went on to say:
This love is very mature and she is in a different head space now. She has really found who she is and what makes her happy. She loves Abel and he loves her. They have gotten to know each other very well and have learned from their past relationships what they want and don’t want.
Fortunately, their respective families are very pleased with the union. Mama Weeknd, Mandy Teefey, shared her approval via social media, commenting on a photo of the couple together at the Met Gala, saying, “Glowing, smiling, looking health and equal love…Mama is happy XO.” Yep, even celebrity parents try to embarrass their kids on social media – says the woman whose mother posted that her profile picture was “unbecoming.” Thanks, Mom.
In a radio interview last Thursday, Selena confessed that “I’m the kind of kind of girl that loves tremendously big. I just have always been that girl. I will give my heart and my soul to the person that I love. It’s just how I operate. With that comes a lot, you know?” Awww.
And, even though touring often keeps the two apart, they make time to stay connected via texting and Face Time chats. According to the E! source, “They love to just chill and be a pretty normal couple — like go to the movies, order in and watch TV. They seem serious and like this is the real deal.”
While the couple may be making beautiful music together romantically, their union does not include any time together in the recording studio. Last week, rumors of a collaboration between the two, a track called “In Her Element,” surfaced. Selena shut down the rumor, allegedly perpetrated by her fans, during a radio interview, stating “I can’t give those people what they want… I’m sorry, and it’s not true.”
Speaking as someone who is madly in love, I can honestly say I’m happy for them. I’m glad Selena has moved on from Justin Bieber and I suspect The Weeknd is keeping her happy. Very happy. I mean, he recorded a song called “I Feel It Coming,” which has lyrics like “Tell me what you really like / Baby, I can take my time.” (And we all know what that song is really about.) He seems like an aim to please kind of guy (and he’s charitable to boot), so good on you, Selena.

Like, he’s so that guy that you thought was dreamy in a cool, detached way but then, three weeks in you realize he’s just whiny and kind of mean.
Sure let’s just ignore the fact that she reportedly has a substance abuse problem and she’s with a known drug user.
But young love amiright?
Where exactly has it been proven that she has a drug problem. She has taken time off from touring due to exhaustion which people think is the key word for drugs, but she has lupus. Lupus is a autoimmune disease that attacks your own body and is triggered by stress. I have lupus and believe me that it is something that if you don’t stay on top of and try to take care of yourself you can end up very sick. I was going to college and working three jobs when I sufured a stroke because of lupus. I very much doubt she is using drugs as she would definitely not be well enough to be doing anything. Also with lupus since it affects every person differently your medication can be constantly changing and can affect everyone differently.
I said reportedly and these rumors started years before she was diagnosed with lupus and have continued since. My best friend has lupus so I don’t need a lecture on it. Just because she as lupus doesn’t mean she didn’t have a drug problem before. They aren’t mutually exclusive.
Nicole, I don’t see where I was lecturing you. I was just stating that as someone with Lupus I doubt she has a subustance abuse problem now. Lupus is also not very easily diagnosed so she could have been showing symptoms before she was. I also am not saying that she has never taken drugs.

I think it’s easy for people to believe she was/is a drug addict as opposed to having lupus because of the crowd she’s ran with (Bieber, Lovato) and the fact that she’s a former Disney star.

It was even briefly acknowledged by her camp (around 2014 when she fired her parents as managers and went to rehab in Arizona) before she pivoted and attributed it to Lupus which she also went back and forth on confirming. It is very odd that she is now with an open heavy drug user in light of this. Also @Celebitchy Mandy Teefey is Selena’s mom not the Weeknd’s.
He’s a mysoginistic asshole, and she dates/is friends with whomever is popular. Without Justin and Taylor she would be another Ashley Tisdale in terms of popularity, only less talented. They’re gonna milk this PR to the max.

That’s possible. But I always found Ashley Tisdale a lot more grating, and really badly styled for the most part. So I mean, who knows – but probably not VASTLY more popular.

My friend works in the studio that Abel creates his music in and he very genuinely likes Abel, he’s really down to earth and my friend works with all the TOP artists…Abel is one of his favorites. Regarding Selena, I totally believe it! They appear sincerely into each other and I’m happy for them. It’s nice to see something positive ‘in the news’ and they deserve to be happy.
