Emilia Clarke & Kit Harington have some predictions for the end of ‘GoT’

Spoilers for the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones, “The Wolf and the Dragon.”

Usually, when a major character dies on Game of Thrones, they’re allowed to give an “exit interview,” generally to Entertainment Weekly. Well, since we can’t talk to the Wall (#RIP), they talked to Aidan Gillen, the soft-spoken Irish actor who played Lord Baelish, aka Littlefinger. I’m not going to excerpt from the interview – you can read it here. It’s a really nice piece, and Aidan got to bring his son on the set on his last day and the producers gave him two of Baelish’s little mockingbird pins. I mean, if you have to die on Game of Thrones, you want a scene like that, when all of your character’s chickens come home to roost.

Meanwhile, people are still talking about Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen and their icky love story. I mean, the whole show has been building up to this, the moment when these two people meet and fall in love. Of course it was going to happen. I’m not sure people expected it to happen as Bran and Sam Tarly were putting the pieces together about Rhaegar and Lyanna, but there you go. We literally heard about how Dany and Jon were related as they were banging. Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington talked about what went down in a separate EW interview. Some highlights:

Emilia on what she thinks Dany’s reaction will be when she finds out about Jon: “Ewwwww! I think that’s how it’s going to go. I get the toothbrush–” she pretended to frantically brush her tongue.

What she thinks about Jon’s claim on the Throne: “I’ve worked so hard, I don’t want to share that throne. No. The throne’s big enough for one dragon bum, and that’s mine. That’s it!”

Kit on the sex scene: “Usually you go into a movie and meet [your costar] for the first time and you develop that chemistry over that time. But if you’ve known somebody for seven years and shared this incredible journey in your own lives together
we’re both kind of freaking out about it. I would be like, ‘What’s the sexual tension in this scene?’ and she’s like, ‘Stop talking about sexual tension!’ It’s a unique experience to be in as an actor and you know the world is watching.”

Emilia on the sex scene: “Yeah [I would say], ‘Would you just stop? Just give me some sexy eyes, don’t keep talking about sexual chemistry all the time,’” and added about the scene itself: “I love that when we get to the saucy stuff it’s a beautiful acceptance of a wordless
 yep.”

[From EW]

Emilia goes on to say that she thinks that when Dany finds about Jon – or Aegon Targaryen, as Lyanna wanted him to be called – that they’ll either kill each other or walk off into the sunset together. I think neither. I think Dany and Jon have fallen in love with each other rather quickly, and that she’ll get pregnant very quickly. When they find out they’re related, I think they’ll have a moment of “oh, weird,” but they’ll get over it because the Army of the Dead is already on the march. I actually think we’re going to have to worry more about Tyrion’s reactions and Lord Friendzone’s reactions. Jorah always gets pissy when Dany shows an interest in other men.

So, what other predictions do we have for the final episodes next year? Here are mine:

Dany will get pregnant & it will happen very quickly.
Dany will end up sacrificing herself for Jon or vice versa, more likely Jon sacrificing himself for Dany and their child.
I think Theon will sacrifice himself for Yara. Theon might end up killing Euron in a cool way.
I think Sansa and Arya will end up liking Dany. Dany can be quite charming and I would imagine that she will really, really like Arya.
I believe with all my heart that Jaime will kill Cersei at some point, and that she’s not really pregnant (or she won’t stay pregnant).
The Hound will end up protecting Arya and Sansa full-time, probably on Jon’s orders.
Ghost will get along with the dragons.
No one will ever refer to Jon Snow as Aegon Targaryen. They might call him Jon Targaryen, but let’s be real.
Brienne and Tormund have to see each other one last time. PLEASE.

I’m not sure I want to even watch anymore if Jon dies. He’s really become the backbone and heart of the show for me, and I would be devastated if he doesn’t survive to see the world he saved.

    • Megan says:

I think they will go full on Breaking Bad and kill off all of the major characters. Baby Targaryen will survive but his/her parents won’t, giving us the “bittersweet” ending GRRM promised. Maybe Missendi or Davos will survive to tell Baby Targaryen the story of his/her parents.

      • Holla here says:

Ohh, that will be a bittersweet ending. I personally cannot handle it but I think that’s the perfect ending to GOT.

  2. D says:

So she can show some emotion in an instagram photo, why can’t she do that when she’s acting? I think Daenerys would have been better and more interesting with someone else in the role, I don’t know who though.

  3. I don’t think they’ll make a big deal about it either especially since her parents were siblings, right? Incest is a Targaryen thing and from what I’ve read from other fans, they did it to keep their bloodline strong. Very sure Dany got pregnant last night and I have a feeling she’ll die next season. Probably giving birth. I know that they’re doing a spinoff/prequel to everything, but I hope they pull a Star Wars and do a continuation for what happens after the Great War is over. There is still some storylines I’d like to see continue and a lot of characters we’ve met and seen them disappear.

    • Lore says:

I was just coming here to say that. In the books she says she always thought she would marry her brother and was surprised he was selling her off instead. I don’t think being related to John will make much difference to her. John on the other hand is another matter.

    • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

The Targaryens intermarried to keep power in the family not to keep the blood strong. GRRM said he was using old European monarchies as a model. The Egyptians did the same, married each other to keep the throne in the family. They were Greek foreigners ruling over native Egyptians.

Dany won’t have any problems with incest, if anything she will love him more, but Jon was raised as a Stark with clear cut boundaries of right and wrong. Incest is wrong. Ned died because he discovered incest with the Lannisters and clearly disapproved as did the people of Kingslanding when Stannis spread the word. They were afraid to speak out against the Targaryens when that family ruled.

Sansa, Arya and Bran are also not going to be OK with Jon having sex with his aunt. Arya might like Dany’s dragons but Dany has no fighting skills. She only likes going on and on about her entitlement to rule the 7 kingdoms. I just don’t see either Sansa or Arya respecting that.

  4. Soprana says:

Also Jon/Aegon (Aejon?) will ride Rhaegel! That’s why Viserion was the one killed…so Jon could ride the dragon named for his daddy.

  5. LadyMTL says:

I just can’t with the idea of Dany getting pregnant by her nephew…ew. I mean, I know in the books the Targaryens were big into the incest thing, but still, ew. I really hope the writers don’t go down that road, it was enough with Cersei and Jaime, IMHO.

What I would like to see happen: Jon has bent the knee, so it stays bent. Arya, Sansa and Daenerys become the three (female!) power players in Westeros, because I assume Cersei is gonna die at some point, maybe in childbirth like her own mother? Theon and Yara conspire to kill Euron, and so take back control of the Iron Islands. Jaime goes to Tyrion and tells him that he’s willing to help with the fight against the White Walkers, and they eventually win, though not without some deaths. EG Jaime dies heroically trying to save someone, or Brienne does, or Tormund does, you get the idea.

Oh, and the Cleganebowl eventually results in them killing each other. Because that strikes me as something GRRM would write. 😛

    • Norma Warner says:

Please…..Cersi kicks the bucket, Jamie comes over from the dark side and mates with Brianne!!!!

  6. Jenns says:

They both seem like very nice people, but their acting is so far below Lena, Peter or Nikola. This is why I can’t get behind Dany and Jon. Between the writing and their acting, I couldn’t care less about these two.

D&D said that GRRM gave them three WTF moments. The first was burning Shireen, the second was Hodor and the third was suppose to happen near the end. So I’m holding out hope for a final twist, because otherwise things seem very predictable.

  7. Christo says:

If they do something crazy like making Dany die in childbirth and then Jon, Jamie, and rest die later in season 8, episode 6 with only Tyrion and Missandei left to raise Jon and Dany’s Lyanna 2.0 with Gendry and Sansa together over the kingdoms and then Bran as a new Night King…that’s gonna burn. I like the cyclical nature to some stories/fables, but I wouldn’t want to see it here.

  8. Talie says:

Tyrion didn’t look happy about them hooking up…I still think him and Varys will turn on Dany. Tyrion still identifies as a Lannister and it was telling that Cersei couldn’t kill him or Jaime. There’s a lot of (twisted) love there.

  9. Bellagio DuPont says:

Ok, am I allowed to be a bit of a bitch and say “Jorah the Andal? Ewwwwwwwww.” I mean, he looks old enough to be her grandfather, so I’ve never quite understood how he could possibly be an option of any sort for Daenerys. Or is that ageist?

My one prediction is that Dany and Jon will fall deeply in love; given that she is extremely power hungry, I reckon he’ll choose to hide his true parentage from her and the world (by swearing Bran to secrecy) and let Dany remain queen in order to stay with her without the power struggle.

In other words, he’ll give up his throne for her.

  10. Rainbow says:

Kit also said before that Jon Snow was never coming back on the show, so he’s a huge troll hahaha and so is Emilia. They’ve known since the start what their characters’ arcs would be.

The writers also kept hyping up last season with supposedly a big conflict between Jon and Sansa yet nothing of the sort happened except their argument about strategies over Battle of the Bastards. So them saying Jon and Daenerys will have a lot of conflict once they find out they’re related could be B.S.

I would be so angry if Daenerys dies in childbirth. She either dies fighting the great war or she lives long enough to pass on the throne to her child.

If she were to die though, Beric might give his life for hers. Wasn’t that what he did to Catelyn/Lady Stonheart in the books? Beric also said he still has a purpose to serve and that’s why he’s alive. I don’t think killing wights is his sole purpose. It has to be a greater cause.

Then again, Martin said before that Jon, Daenerys, Arya, Bran and Tyrion are the “safe characters” meaning they’d all survive so who knows.

Jamie has to die. He has to. Only way his character on the show can be redeemed. Give him a true death. But not after he’s killed Cersei as Valonqar.

    • Megan says:

Dying in childbirth would be such a lame ending for a warrior queen, but I feel like the show is drawing parallels between Dany and Lyanna. And I don’t like it.

      • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

To be fair dying in child birth or related to pregnancy had been predicted for Dany since Season I of the show and Book1. Dany asked when she will see Khal Drogo next and the witch said when her womb quickened with child.

The books have long established that Dany is great at conquering but can’t rule to save her life. Making Jon legitimate and showing her dragons can be killed were essential the end of her claim to fame and power. She’s now in lame duck status.

  11. angie0717 says:

But more importantly, the sex scene was meh. Imma right or what

    • Nancy says:

Kind of sad for Daenerys/Emilia when the camera is focused on Jon/Kit’s ass! He’s a little guy but has a nice body. Everything that happened last night was so anticipated and expected, that seeing them do the horizontal bop wasn’t earth shattering.

  12. Jane says:

I like Kit as Jon Snow. Its taken me this long towarm to Emilia and i don’t know if that is because Dany is such an expressionless character.

Lena and Peter are amazing. I was scared she was going to kill Jamie though lol.

I have no feelings for jon and dany’s romance. I don’t get the shipping.

    18 months SOB

  13. Originaltessa says:

I think finding out they’re related may put a wedge between Jon and Dany, providing a little drama and tension, but ultimately they’ll unite because they love each other and the world is ending, and hey, they’re Targaryens.

  14. Kelly says:

Arya and Sansa’s reaction to Dany is going to be interesting. They’re really the first women of her peer group, high born Westerosi women that she’ll get an extended chance to interact with. It has to go better than her brief meeting with Cersei because neither wants her dead and may be willing to give her a chance.

Arya will be fascinated by the dragons. Dany could learn some from Sansa about the practicalities of ruling beyond making speeches and threatening people with her dragons.

  15. Nessa says:

Hmm. Okay. I definitely think that Jamie will end up being the one to kill Cersei, especially after last night. He killed The mad king. I think it would be symbolic if he murdered his sister because he knew she was the mad queen, so to speak.

I do think Dany will be pregnant after last night. They made too big of a deal about her not being able to have kids. That has to come back around.

I also think either Jon or Dany will end up dying to save the other. Most likely Jon, so Dany and their unborn child can keep their lineage going.

Obviously, Jon is going to be the one to kill the Night King, but many of the main characters in the show will die in that battle.

I feel like Tyrion listening to Dany & Jon last night was foreshadowing that he’s going to betray them. But, he has to help them long enough for them to win the Great War. I do think that he is one of the few that will survive to the end.

I’m still trying to figure out Bran’s role as the three-eyed raven. Something big is going to happen with that storyline. I just don’t know what. (It’s actually my least favorite of all the major storylines).

That’s all I can think of right now. I look forward to reading everyone else’s predictions. I can’t believe we have to wait so long for the show to come back, though….

  16. OG OhDear says:

I thought the anecdote about filming that sex scene was amusing:

    Kit: [broods broods broods]
Emilia: Stop brooding about sexual tension!

  17. nona says:

I agree that a baby Targaryen is on the way, but I don’t see a happy ending for Dany and Jon. I keep remembering Beric telling Jon on that long trek beyond the wall that Jon and he won’t find much joy in the world. Jon’s going to sacrifice himself for Dany and the baby, or he’s going to lose Dany and maybe the baby. I can see a scarred, lonely, broken Jon sitting on a throne he never wanted. He’s the only one who doesn’t want it. That’s partly why I think it’ll be his in the end.

  18. Lizzie says:

i think jon will make bran and sam swear to never tell and keep ned’s secret forever. he’s not interested in being the king. he originally followed her because he believes in her and wants her to rule and it is part of why he loves her.

and that sex scene was conflicting AF. i was grossed out and also wanted it to happen. he’s so cute with those perfect buns. i imagine they all went in for a spa day and got waxed in king’s landing…

  19. Nancy says:

Need proof that winter is here. Last night Daenerys Targaryen received six inches of snow. *borrowed from a funny internet person* Lol

  20. Christo says:

With the author’s track record, we are along overdue for character annihilation during season 8. For that reason, I think it will end up being none of the key players that were expected to be on the Iron Throne. Just like with the Red Wedding, GRRM will take down Jon and Dany, leaving us with their daughter Lyanna 2.0. Arya and the Hound will journey to King’s landing and Arya will pose as Qyburn to poison Cersei. Meanwhile, the Hound will get rid of the Mountain. Euron Greyjoy will sail back to King’s Landing with the mercenary army that he procured with the stolen Tyrrel gold in Essos.. Dany will die in childbirth (sooo typical) after returning to Dragonstone. Up north, yet another dragon will die taking out the Night King, his army, and the ice dragon, leaving only Drogon. Bran will get stabbed and his body will be brought north by the last remaining whitewalker to become the next Night King. Later, Jon, Jamie and the remainders will battle Euron at King’s Landing who will injure Drogon, who inadvertently blows up the remaining wildfire under the dragon pit and, in the process, killing Jon, Jamie and others as Arya observes from afar….just like at the Red Wedding. Tyrion and Missandei will raise Lyanna while Gendry Baratheon is installed as King Regeant and Sansa, his love interest, remains Lady of Winterfell/Warden of the North.

    • Originaltessa says:

I have to think they’re keeping Jorah around to sacrifice his life for Dany, but I think he’ll actually end up sacrificing it for Jon, because he knows that she loves him. It’ll be the ultimate act of love towards her. I also see Brienne dying for Jaime, and for Jaime to really see what true love is, but a little too late. He then has the strength to go and kill his evil sister. These have just been popping around in my head. I think like all epics, the ending theme is always about love and camaraderie and the good of man. I think the iron throne will be destroyed, and a new democratic regime will prevail.

    • Rae says:

@Christo That’s pretty much word for word what the fake leaks were saying. thabkfully, they’ve been called a dud by the people who leaked the true scripts from this past season..

  21. Amelie says:

Kit Harrington is so handsome when he smiles! It’s too bad his character is so broody and so put upon in GOT, it would be nice to see his character smile more. (Haha yes I realize it’s hypocritical of me to tell a guy to smile more but I just realized in Emilia’s Instagram picture his character rarely smiles, if ever).

  22. D says:

I think that Daeneyes will end up pregnant and give birth to a child that is not burned by Dragonfire and immune to the White Walkers, since Jon Snow died once. It was blood magic that brought him back to life, not a White Walker, I understand that. It just seems to make a lot more sense if they produce an offspring that would be immune for the reasons I stated, and possibly unify all the lands even beyond the (former) wall. Jmo

  23. Jax says:

So, I have one prediction at this point. I think while Jaime is on his way North, he runs into the undead army and he becomes one of the lead White Walkers and then leads them down to Kings Landing to kill Cersei and co. She thinks The Mountain has her back, but he doesn’t because he’s taken over by the Night King because for all intents and purposes he’s already dead. And Jaime kills her, but then burns her body. No one wants an undead Cersei. There’s some holes in this logic, but I think it would be a fitting end to her after she drove everyone away.

  24. coffeeisgood says:

The dragons will all die in the Great War. We know they can’t be chained up or caged, and the peaceful world Dany wants to create can’t have the chaos/destruction that dragons bring. She’s gonna have to sacrifice them to defeat the night king. Dany and Jon will have a baby, but they both will die. Dany will die in childbirth (targ babies seem to generally kill their mom during child birth) and Jon will die in battle (like Rhaegar). Sansa and Arya will totally raise the baby to be a badass king/queen and peace will be restored to the seven kingdoms. Tyrion is also gonna somehow betray Dany for his brother.
